My first mistake was actually considering Jimmy John's for dinner. Usually JJs is good for people wanting a quick meal in the loop while they rush back to work. I'll eat at Jimmy John's again but probably not at this location. I live near this location and was walking around the area looking for something quick to eat. As I walked in the cashier was sitting down playing on his phone in one of the booths. He was gracious enough to reluctantly get up and take my order. The sandwich maker was nice (reason for the 2 stars) and I got my sandwich very quickly but I felt like I was bothering the employees while they were hanging out in their apartment or something. I definitely didn't feel like a customer in a restaurant. Quick service but definitely lacking in quality.

Tried to order online...didn't work. "Tech issues" it said. Called and it rang and rang. Decided to walk down and see. Place closed by health department due to inadequate plumbing and inadequate food protection. Do not eat here

This place is freaky fast, ask for CJ if you want great service. Deliveries arrive fast and staff is friendly and polite when I go into the store.

If they have negative stars I would give them that instead of one star. What Jimmy Johns is known for, or at least supposed to be, is their speedy delivery. this location is the WORST when it comes to on time delivery and they don't even apologize when the situation is addressed.

I called and placed an order and an hour later the food had not arrived. I called back and they put me on hold for a while, came back and told me that they tried to call to tell me they did not deliver to my address. This is something that you would think they would mention when I placed the order. I had no missed calls and they continued to claim that they tried to call. My coworker asked for the manager and told them again what had happened and demanded to know why we were not told that they did not deliver to our address. We had them repeat the number and they had written it down wrong! Then the manager hung up on my coworker. So to recap: -They did not inform me that they did not deliver to my address and took my order. -They took my information down incorrectly. -The manager was very rude and hung on a customer. Never again will I call them. Terrible.

Is it wrong to love Jimmy John's as much as I do? I think it might be! I've been to this Jimmy John's on several occasions and I've never had a bad experience. They've always been ridiculously fast and good! I don't know if something has changed since the majority of these reviews were written but I've always found the place and the staff to be clean and inviting. It's ridiculously difficult to find a place to park and run in. I spend more time looking for a spot then I do getting my sandwich once I'm inside. I wish they had a standing zone in front or that you could call ahead and have them run it out to you.

This location gets 2 stars because I love the sandwiches. But there is absolutely no such thing as a speedy delivery from this place. I've ordered 5 times - I know, I'm my own worst enemy here, but I really do love the sandwiches and I'm eternally hopeful. The first time I requested that my order be delivered at 5pm. They showed up at 2pm. Luckily my roommate was home. The next 4 times, I had the exact opposite experience and the orders all came at least 45 minutes after their scheduled delivery time and once an hour and a half late.

I'm 6 blocks from this place and they won't deliver to me. Wow.

I accidentally ordered from this Jimmy Johns by reading the address wrong and I do regret it. 1) They didn't even ask for my name and number. 2) I was told to call another location because my store has two locations and they thought I worked at the other one... when I clearly said my address 2 seconds before and it's nothing close to the other location. 3) I work literally a 2 min. bike ride away and they took 20 minutes to deliver when they are supposed to be "freaky fast." 4) I went back and forth with the "manager" because I knew from other Jimmy Johns and my coworker who used to work at one that when ordering drinks for delivery they almost always use canned sodas. When I ordered, I asked for a canned soda and was told they only have fountain sodas... okay, well I've always heard the opposite so I repeated it was for delivery plus what I had heard and was still told it would be a fountain soda, after that I CLEARLY said "okay, then that's fine." When I get my order 20 minutes later, there's no drink. I call to complain and was offered being charged for a drink and having it delivered. Excuse me, but you fucked up, if I wanted to wait for a drink which I didn't it should be free because of YOUR mistake. I thought most managers knew about good customer service like that. Needless to say I'll never make this mistake of ordering from this Jimmy Johns again and make sure I order from the reliable Milwaukee location.

I literally live 5 blocks away and they said I'm out of their delivery area. What a joke!! No wonder they are averaging two stars.

It's like they were mad at us for ordering or something. One slice of meat on my lettuce wrap and the sprouts tasted like they'd gone bad. Had a few bites and had to throw the rest out. I'm praying for a stable gastrointestinal system tonight.

My entire order was taken, then I was transferred to someone new. Who wanted to start over with me.... Then instead of explaining why I was transferred, started arguing with me, and told me immediately they do not deliver to me. Manager got on phone, said they don't deliver to me. I am .4 miles from their shop. I stopped eating JJ when the articles came out about the owner being an exotic animal killer, for sport. Now, years later, I will not eat there because they simply just have awful customer service, poor training, and incapable people running their business. Way to go Jimmy!

We usually pickup at this location but today I just ordered lunch for delivery. Beach club and chips, came as ordered, arrived in 12 minutes. Friendly delivery guy. I can't complain. Good job jimmy johns!

if I could give no stars I would because this place does not deserve the one star they make you give. when do you go to a place and order food to go and they make you bag your own food? Are you effing kidding me? how lazy are you to not put sandwiches in a bag?!?!?!? nice customer service!

  • Melissa T.

That's it. I told myself three weeks ago I was done with this location, and I think today was it. The staff is constantly rude, uninterested and forever eating behind the counter, at the station that they make subs on. The cashier today was actually staring at her iPhone when I walked it and asked me if I was ready to order without looking up. Then when I hesitated, and asked her if SHE was ready, she took about 10 seconds to finish her phone game before she took my order. Doing my best to find the owners of this franchise and let them know in person. This is ridiculous.

Not quite a smart Jimmy Johns I know. They do not understand "don't throw away the bread" statement and they're really stingy when I asked for extra cucumbers.

Nice, basic sandwiches, some with a flare. Try the whole wheat sub bread, have to ask special for it.

  • naomi S.

They took two hours to NOT deliver 2 sandwiches!! I called every half an hour because I used my charge card and after the 4th time of calling the manager ( some very rude lady) told me they lost my order???? She actually hung up on me when I asked for my money back since I never got my food!!! Guess she didn't listen to be the 3 other times I called asking her where our order was ( which she assured me was on it's way) we live a few blocks away from this location and they are soooo rude/ slow.... I strongly suggest you order from potbellies on damen! Or visit the jimmy johns on Milwaukee.. Cannot believe with allllllll these bad reviews jimmy johns hasn't done anything....!!!

The worst JJ ever!!! Go in and look at the condition and cleanliness of the staff!! Also, don't order over the phone, retarded HS drop-outs. Alwayts have the wrong food in the bags. They are terrible!!! I drive to the one on grand and ogden far superior. Best JJ on Grand at Nordstroms

I like Jimmy Johns. I really do. I used to order from the one by my college campus almost daily. However, this location has such poor customer service that I swear I have sworn off the entire franchise. My girlfriend recently added a sub onto an order I had already made for pickup. She sat next to me and told me what to order and I repeated her order verbatim. When we showed up, we changed our mind and decided to eat there. She opened her sandwich to find it wasn't on the wheat bread we ordered and did not have any onions or mustard on it: all of which we ordered. She walked up to the counter and asked for the sandwich she ordered and a 300 lb scruffy teenage kid stared at her with the fire of 1,000 hells in his eyes and said, "No way. Your man didn't order wheat bread or any of that sh!% on the phone. I know I made that right." My GF told the angry employee that she sat next to me and heard me order it and he just shook his head and stared at her. We literally were being harassed by the employee. Ridiculous. Maybe at wiener circle that's acceptable, but not when you're just trying to get what you ordered.

I've only heard good things about Jimmy Johns, but after my visit there today this is the first and last time I will ever dine here. The employee was a complete jerk and proceeded to intimidate me after I told him that I ordered a sandwich on wheat and not white... I didn't even mentioned the fact that he screwed up the whole thing. He sat there arguing w/ me & treating me like I was an idiot. I didn't even feel comfortable with him remaking the sandwich for fear that he would probably try to do something gross w/ it.

OK, I have a major boner for Jimmy Johns. When my friend lived in Uptown, we would hit up the store in her hood so often that we called their employees, our "Jimmy Johns Guys" (while we simultaneously batted our eyelashes and giggled while checking out their cute little 19-yr-old bums. I wish I could say the same for the employees on Division. A) they are always on the phone, eating, or generally looking bored everytime I go in. B) They do NOT put on gloves. I have worked in food service for mannnnnny years, and I get it. People touch your food without gloves. But Hey Fatty, I just saw you shoving BBQ chips down your throat and you didn't even wash your hands before you started making my sammich. OH, and FYI, I can SEE YOU making my sandwich. If its going to be unsanitary, at least do it behind closed doors where I can't see you tickling my food with your orange BBQ stained fingers.

  • Dan T.

Got a sandwich Saturday late morning and the bread was DEFINITELY old, as in they used yesterday's bread for my sandwich. That's inexcusable. Not surpirsed as this location has never been anything but below average.

  • Steve M.

Nope. For some reason, Jimmy John's always seems like such a good idea... until it shows up. And especially after eating it. Why are bland sandwiches so tasty sounding when I'm hungry? This particular Wicker Park location, while fast, is sloppy. On numerous occasions, they have messed up my order. One time, they delivered someone else's sandwiches. Simple human error - no problem. It happens. But, when I called the store to let them know, they said that they would just have the driver go to the other person's house, re-wrap my sandwich, and drop it off at my house! (After the other person likely opened the sandwich and handled it?) Gross! Last night's infraction was minor by comparison (they forgot the chips and took 40 minutes to re-deliver them), but it was another reminder about why I need to break up with Jimmy John's.

  • Burt M.

There's a reason why this location has less stars than all of the others around them. I live right down the street and order often. Rude on the phone. Half the times my orders are right. Other half they don't even show up?! They barely answer their phones. I don't know what's going on over there.

  • Weston M.

I have to say that I wasn't surprised to see that this store already had a low rating prior to this review. Usually Jimmy John's is one of my favorites, and I order from them all the time. I just tried to order a sub for delivery, but I don't have my credit card on me. I wanted to pay cash, but when I told the guy on the phone that the only cash I had was a $100 bill, he said that the driver wouldn't have that much change. I asked if they could just give him enough change before he left, he asked the manager, who replied that he would not help me and asked if I had a credit card again. I don't see why they they would turn away business simply because they aren't willing to give the driver enough change. Obviously this manager doesn't care about customers' satisfaction enough to simply provide enough change. As someone who works in the service industry, I find it ridiculous that such an easy fix couldn't, or more accurately, wouldn't be rectified by the manager. Poor reflection of how much they value their repeat business, as I will never be calling this store again. Unbelievable

Won't deliver .8 miles away. They say I'm a half block too far.... no exceptions? pathetic service.

I live down the street from this Jimmy Johns, so it's too bad that I'll never go here again. Last time I went they made the wrong sandwich. I got all the way to the park where we were going to eat, had to walk all the way back. When I told the dude, he did not apologize -- just gave me an annoyed look, threw it away then walked off and started talking on his cell phone. The girl made me a new sandwich, but was crabby about it. When I asked if they could possibly offer a free cookie or chips or anything because of their mistake, she just stared at me and said, "Uh, no?" Good job Jimmy Johns, you just lost another customer.

  • Agila R.

Definitely not "freaky fast" delivery. Took 1 hour and 15 mins to get my sandwich...and they forgot the mayo. No more Jimmy Johns delivery for me.

    (1)
  • matt b.

I keep making the mistake of assuming they've fixed the problem of not being able to make the same sandwich that you order. Without exaggeration, 1/3 orders you get from here will be wrong, either by missing ingredients or just an entirely different sandwich. Last time I was there, someone was reading the ingredients off sheet of paper, and still forgot to put cheese on mine (required ingredient in a veggie!). Need to stop hiring the impaired and all-around strugglers. How have the owners not realized there is a problem yet?

  • HEATHER S.

I usually love Jimmy John's (it's quick, easy, and pretty cheap), but I went into this location today to get a #6 with no mayo or tomato. They gave me the sandwich with double mayo! Gross! There is usually a reason when someone asks for no mayo. It made me sick. Not happy at all with this location. A waste of a sandwich and the $6 or $7 that was supposed to buy my lunch. Very unhappy. If I could, I would demand a refund. :(

Veggies, mayo, guac and provolone. What's to complain about? Just don't park across the street in the lot... the owner of one of the boutiques was writing down my license number while I happily skipped out of Jimmy John's in under three minutes with my veggie sandwich.

It all started back in, what, circa 1992 thru 96, my relationship w. Jimmy John that is. It was Carbondale, SIU and this was a staple for any young, poor college student. Good to see it come to Chicago some ten years later, the first of which, i think was on Lincoln Ave and another locale in the Gold Coast area. Not unlike Potbelly, they've now popped up everywhere, including the suburbs and other states. It's a good sub, fresh toppings and great bread. A sub with Jimmy's kettle chips strike the perfect balance for your simple, quick lunch time snack.

  • Ron K.

Great staff, and they truly live up to their name: Subs so fast you'll freak! I'm addicted to these darn subs! Wish they would open up closer to Western/Chicago Ave though...

  • Kevin C.

When I was a student at Purdue, Jimmy Johns was one of my favorite places to nosh on after a night out. When I moved to Chicago I was saddened to find that there was not any around. That was until an explosion of Jimmy Johns occurred in the Chicago area. Ive been here a few times and have never had issues but how many issues can you have with a fast food sandwich shop? I am definitely going to keep coming here but will keep my ears and mouth open to the issues that have been brought up by others.

Their commercials about delivery speed? What a joke!!! I ordered sandwiches for delivery and it took 2 hours and 15 minutes for my food to arrive. I actually called twice to see if it was coming at all. The guy who answered the phone had no answers and couldn't tell me anything. The last time, I canceled my order. Unfortunately for the delivery guy, they didn't tell him so he showed up 2 hours and 15 minutes after I placed the order. By that time, we went out for tacos and finished them.

Jimmy John's is great. Even though I eat vegan, I will occasionally dine there. Plus, I've worked at a couple of them, so I know they've got good stuff. Unfortunately, this particular location leaves a lot to be desired. First, the person who took my order over the phone could barely speak English. Even though I speak Spanish, it still seems like speaking and understanding should be a requisite for phone work. Second, when the delivery driver showed up, he did not have change for a $20 on a $10 order. Seriously? He said it wasn't his fault. Well, I used to deliver for a living, so I can assure you, a driver oughtta have change. So, perhaps he will learn this lesson this time, as I had to pay with exact change. Again, Jimmy John's is great, but this store is lacking. Go to the one on Milwaukee instead.

Wow, I was surprised to see so many JJ reviews with few stars. I have to say that I guess I was lucky the one time I went in. It was good, nothing epic, just a tasty sandwich. If I had a gun to my face, definitely JJ's instead of Quizno's or Subway.

We work right on your same side of the street and you would think we would get a hello how are you when we come in NOTHING. I went to your store again today same think---I asked for a #4 with extra veggies as usual, didn't get it---I'm done with your place---not coming back again. For six bucks I can get almost a whole dinner at Janik's Deli down from you and that's where our office is going to go for now on. We couldn't even get an extra sandwich when you had the dollar sandwich day---but all your other customer didn't get told to wait in line again---you people SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you go out of business and someone nice and friendly move in----Jimmy Johns WAY OVER RATED AND YOUR SANDWICHES HAVE NOTHING ON THEM!!!!!Thanks for no customer service at all. Hope your Manager gets his ASS chewed on this one!!!!!
