Watch out subway/Jimmy John's!!! This place rocks! Meats are fresh sliced for every sandwich. The Rosemary bread is great. The cherry pepper relish is a must. They also have an awards program that'll get you free sandwiches. My new favorite sandwich place!

Just like my previous visits, I can't find anything wrong with this restaurant. I had stopped in there for a late lunch, past Friday about 1:15ish, even though there were two people in line, I was acknowledged as soon as I walked in by Nick. As Nick was finishing up the previous customer, he was taking my order - Club Sub. He had prepared the sandwich just the way I had asked for. The check out person was just as friendly. As I'm eating my meal, other patrons were coming in - it was very steady of people coming in for a quick bite. Every guest was acknowledged upon entering the place - which you don't receive at other sub sandwich places. Keep up the great job!

The food is fine, but not worth the wait. They are really SLOW. What is especially frustrating is when I'm in line, place my order, and a guy who walks in and is two people behind, places his order, and magically gets his sammie first. Which was hot and mine was cold! How the frick does that happen???

Fresh and fast! The guys here do their thing day in and day out. I should know, I go here almost if not every other day. If you're in the area and want a quick sandwich sub, stop in. The next best option to their sandwiches are the ones that I make, but then again, who has the time. It's a low-key shop, but then again, they're there to sell sandwiches and they do it best!

This is a chain, but it's a solid one, and a welcome replacement to the mediocre greasy spoon that previously occupied this site. Their claim to fame is their submarine sandwiches with sliced-to-order deli meats and cheeses, which adds bonus points to freshness but means that they can't touch the speedy preparation of Jimmy John's (and this can start to show when the place is busy). Staff are generally friendly, particularly the gentleman who is the apparent owner, and the interior is bright and clean. All in all, I'm happy to have Mike's as our new neighbor.

If I could give them zero stars I would. I personally think that my sandwich was terrible. I ordered the turkey sandwich, one would think that you can't mess up that. But that wasn't the case it lacked something and I wouldn't recommend it.

Great subs with fresh toppings but I gotta leave you with fair warning about price/size. "Reg" size Jersey Mikes ='s a generous 6" at Subway "Giant" size Jersey Mikes ='s a footlong at Subway You WILL spend 2X the Subway price but NOT neccessarily get the extra "bang for your buck" that you expect. My suggestion for a good sub value in Chicago is Mr. Submarine.Trust me sub fans. (The "Large" is truely LARGE there.) And for you "foodie" type reviewers....once you get past 30 and your taste buds mature, and you shall realize that a great sub is #1) tasty and #2) HUGE. That's all there really is in sub-world.

Amazing Subs, that's a given. Can't even glance at Subway or Jimmy John's ever again after having eaten here. 5 Stars however, due to customer service. After ordering delivery, and receiving the wrong sandwich, I called, they apologized and were happy to fix my order. Nick was the guy that helped me out on the phone and did everything to make sure I got the right sandwich. Good food is common, great customer service these days isn't. Good to know it still exists! Thanks Guys!

Good but nothing special. I got the #2 sub and thought that it was just ok. Seems like a fun place, but nothing too unique.

There are few fast food sandwich shops that make me visit the same store, eat the same kind of sandwich, twice in one day...on multiple days....over multiple weeks. Few businesses are as genuine about making you happy as this Jersey Mike's location. Yeah, I'm a Jersey Junkie. Is it the fact that they cut their meats and cheeses deli-style on a rotary slicer for every sandwich they make? The hot sandwiches made to order on a grill? The fresh vegetables, tangy sauces and myriad ingredients they use every time I order? How about the smiles and friendly attitudes of employees that seem honestly happy to see customers? What about the cute interior--the wainscot around the walls, the wood floors, the subtle Jersey shore wall murals (no, not THAT Jersey Shore)? Is it the spotless men's room? How about the customer loyalty program and frequent email special offers? I think it's the quality of the ingredients and the glad-to-see-you welcome I get when I visit. And as long as they continue to keep their standards high, I'll continue being a Jersey Junkie.

I'm sorry but I'm over this place again. I didn't realize that $8 would get me a "chicken" wrap filled with more wet lettuce than actual chicken. I ended up picking out the chicken pieces and scraping the inedible lettuce off the wrap. The actual chicken was bland. Such a fail, Jersey Mike's. Fail.

Karen and David make sure your order is perfect, and the cost is so low! Favorites include the Pastrami, and the Buffalo Chicken!

Don't really get people's fascination with this place. Just not real impressive sub sandwiches. I would equate it to a Subway, heck, Subway is probably better. Certainly not nearly as good as Jimmy John's. Not bad, just mediocre. A little pricey for what you get, too.

The non-descript name and outside appearance (this place has changed hands many times) belies the good, fast food of this expanding chain. I went to support my brother who is opening a store in Arizona, so I have to try the product. The menu is different from other sub places: you can get a "regular" (which is almost as much as a 12" Subway sandwich) or a "Giant" (I hesitate to even ask, hopefully people are sharing that monster). There are some nice spicy options like cheesesteak and turkey chipotle, which I got. The bread is the highlight: toasted and crispy on the outside and fluffy and soft inside, the crunch contrasts so well with the fresh, crisp ingredients inside (not a lot of options but they have what I usually get at Subway). The customer service was a little off: they made me push the "tip" button to use my card, but didn't tell me why nor that this did not generate a tip, it was some kind of bug. I had to repeat myself twice for what I wanted since they were distracted.

Can't comment on the food, couldn't get my order completed over the phone. Tried ordering for a group and Mr Matthew there had no idea what the sandwiches/wraps come with stock off the menu. That's all we wanted. Food as stated on their menu topped accordingly. Matt had no clue what that was and my group couldn't translate sub by sub. Just wanted them as stated online. Had to cancel the transaction due to his inability to comprehend that and know their menu. After reading two verbatim I gave up and just cancelled the attempted order. Got food at another less sub joint. First time customer, not a customer. Sorry Mike.

Awful customer service. My husband and I planned to meet at Jersey Mike's for lunch on Sunday the 28th of December. I arrived first needing to use the restroom. The lady working there didn't let me use the restroom until I ordered my food. The ladies restroom was out of service and needed a code to use the men's restroom. I didn't even know what I wanted to order but had to order an Italian sandwich in order to use the restroom. I think that's awful customer service for the customers that come to have lunch at your location. Definitely not going to have lunch at this location again.

They have made me dislike other fast food sub places. No more jimmy johns or subway or Quiznos for me. They just aren't the same! I love to get the cherry pepper relish on everything.

  • Katrina F.

I've eaten at Jersey Mike's all over the East coast. I have had crappy service at many but had a hankering for a deli sammy, so popped into the local shop. Nicest guy in the world took my order and made my sandwich, yesterday. He was hilarious!! Guy who rang me up, not the greatest personality. I'd have given the location 5 stars if it was just for the tall black guy/ sandwich engineer. My food was excellent. If I see my smiling friend, I may purposely go in for food. If not, I will probably avoid it.

  • Tim C.

I have eaten at this location only twice and both times I have received excellent customer service from what seems like the manager. He really takes pride in his job- hard to find these days! The sub tastes great as well!

  • Courtney G.

I had a very fresh sub here! The staff was so friendly and I continue to speak of this place when I tell people of my trips to the Midwest. I was impressed by this quick little make and go deli. I wish we had one out here, maybe you guys could replace a Subway or two? Gotta love ya!

Unlike most of the previous reviewers, I was not given a free coupon. Oh, that's okay, Mike. I get it. I'm used to the rejection. But I won't hold that against you. 'specially cuz I picture you as being sorta Pauly D-looking. MMMMMMM. The facts: I saw the staff here assembling another customer's full-sized cheese steak. This was a two-person operation because it was physically impossible for a single human being to hold the massively-long loaf of bread open while simultaneously stuffing half of a friggin' cow into it. I didn't taste the sandwich, but the customer seemed delighted as he slammed the whole thing into his system. Bully, good sir! As for me, I had a "regular" sized Italian sandwich that filled my gut to the top. And I ain't no rail-thin-gettin'-free-sandwich-coupons-'cuz-I'm-a-Burberry-toting-twink-in-Boystown sorta guy. That damn sandwich was stacked with meat. The bread was okay. Jimmy Johns' bread is the standard in this arena for me. Jersey Mike's was closer to the decent french bread you get in a grocery store. But, oh, they load that loaf up big time.

I am not sure what the bad reviews are all about. I go to this Jersey Mikes at least once a week and always have a great experience. Everyone is friendly and half the staff knows my sandwich by now not to mention, in my humble opinion, this is by far the best sandwich one can get in Lakeview, probably the whole city. I realize Chicago has a ton of great sandwich shops and JM is a chain, none-the-less i find myself choosing JM over all others on a weekly basis. Keep up the good work guys.

I'd like to add 43 more stars. Went in for lunch today with my coworkers and it is the Cubs home opener. As you can imagine, it was busy as shit. I generally don't expect the most attentive service in situations like these. I was in for a surprise. We were helped by Matt and Shakima. Not only was the service super fast (and the food super delicious), but the customer service we received was out of this world. I officially am getting all sandwiches from this location. Great experience.

    (5)
  • Jessica L.

Jersey Mike's has amazing and fresh sandwiches, but this location has the worst customer service. On more than one occasion I have had to change my lunch plans from them to Jimmy Johns because they do not answer their phones. Today I called and no one answered the phone during lunch. I called again and was put on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up. Their competition doesn't seem to have problems answering the phones and getting prompt delivery to their customers, so I am done with Jersey Mike's.

I received a free sandwich coupon through the mail and went here for a quick dinner. I decided to get the Jersey Mike's Famous Philly since I haven't had a Philly cheesesteak for a long time. I thought the service was fine. Maybe a little slow, but I thought it was okay since I was getting a free sandwich. The cheesesteak was just okay itself. Somewhat lacking in flavor and messy to eat. Also I forgot that Philly cheesesteaks have cheese whiz, which I'm not a big fan of. If I go back, I will ask if they can use a different cheese.

First Jersey Mike's I've ever been to and the sandwiches do not disappoint. My favorite hot sandwich is the Reuben -- love sauerkraut so that's a given. On the cold subs, the Club is my favorite (with bacon!) and I love how Jersey Mike's puts lots of lettuce on the subs -- and the oil and vinegar "juice" is great. I always get it Mike's Way. Owner is super friendly, and the transformation of the space from shabby Chili Mac's is astounding. Will definitely come back more often.

Although its a chain, this is one of my favorite lunch spots in the city. We ordered a party sub on Super Bowl, and everything was ready on time and was evidently freshly made. Staff was extremely friendly and the food was great. Try the cherry pepper relish!

Favorite food? Sandwiches. I used to think, you can't screw up a sandwich, but then I started ordering more sandwiches and subs, and the odds of receiving a bad sandwich went up. THAT SAID, I had a tasty sub at Jersey Mike's last night. I was craving pastrami and grease after eating lettuce all week. I ordered the pastrami reuben. It took 20 minutes. There were 6 people behind the counter and it took a solid 20 minutes per sub. The line got longer and longer. I was psyched about pastrami, so I let it slide, but with 6 people behind the counter, I think there needs to be a plan of action when it comes to the sub-making assembly line. Also, my hot, greasy, delicious pastrami sub was wrapped weird. I feel like there's a science to wrapping a sub. If you just roll some foil around it and smoosh it into a paper bag - it's gonna be a mess when you open it. I think you should revisit hot vs. cold sandwich wrapping. Overall, delicious. Slow service. Friendly attitudes. I'll go back for more pastrami soon. Sooooon.

Food was decent nothing spectacular. However, the price is double subway so I expected more for my buck. Will not go back. Cashier seemed to be bothered by us as well.

I have nothing but good things to say about Jersey Mike's. First off, they were giving away FREE sandwiches on their opening day! Everyone was super friendly and polite. It is nice to have a sandwich place to go to that isn't the bland Subway or Jimmy John's. I highly enjoyed my club sub and I can't wait to come back to try something else. Great addition to the neighborhood!

New life plan: Stop going to brunch. Long lines, big crowds, having to eat at a table and not in my PJs in bed. Nuts to that, I say. Instead, I will grab a Jersey Mike's Italian sandwich and hunker back into my warm bed, basking in the tangy goodness. The staff seems lackadaisically stoned in a harmless sort of way and the numbers on the sandwich board appear to reflect that. Why does #12 come before #5? I'm so confused. So, so confused...

So impressed! I hadn't even got two steps into the restaurant and I was greeted by the manager who was very friendly! This was my first time at a Jersey Mikes so I didn't know what to try on the menu. He gave me a great recommendation, signed me up for their loyalty and explained how the whole thing worked. Overall I had an amazing experience, the food was delicious and I will regularly be going back. I definitely recommend!!!

That is the worst Jersey Mike's I've ever been to! Been there twice and it was awful. Over cooked Roast beef and tried to serve me thick turkey scraps. Not Good!

How many poorly trained employees does it take to make a sandwich? Three apparently. Its a club sub guys, not nuclear physics! Its strange, I've given this place several tries by this point (holding out hope that they would live up to their name and out of respect for their freshly sliced deli stuffs) ... however, each time I go the employees approach my sandwich with a sense of awe and wonder, as if its the first sandwich they have ever made in their lives and they are mystified at how to put it together. Much like a baby giraffe, they then proceed to stumble all over it. Clumsy hand-balled clumps of meat topped with a dizzying array of lettuce. Half the time they forget the bacon and be careful if you order it "Mike's Way" ... That is unless you want your sandwich drenched in oil and vinegar in some bizarre bastardization of a dip. Also, good luck if your sandwich reaches the cutting board after someone who ordered it "Mike's Way" as your sandwich will inevitably meet a soggy fate. Congratulations, Mike, on giving Jersey yet another thing to be ashamed of.

I know this place is new but the staff needs some more training. I looked at my to-go order sitting on the counter for almost 5 minutes before asking the employee at the register if that was my order (it was). I was disappointed to find that they had given me the wrong order once I got home. Despite being the wrong wrap, it was very loose and extremely messy to eat. If not for the free coupon I would really disappointed! Not going to rush back anytime soon.

Tried this place. Not sure if a chain is a good fit for this hood, that isn't what I gravitate towards either. Service was friendly, but not so fast considering I was the only dude in this place. I had a wrap, it was decent, on par to a Jimmy Johns.

This place is great. All Jersey Mikes are delicious and have great ingredients. The difference with this one is the service. Excellent service. The owner is involved and it really makes a difference. Very well run.

So excited to find a Jersey Mike's just a few blocks from my apartment! I love their subs- so much better than Subway or Jimmy Johns. Get your sub Mike's Way...and I love the #9. The staff was nice and friendly. Quick service. I'll definitely be coming back:)

Best sub shop and friendly service! They freshly slice the meats and cheeses when you order. We used to go to the one in Solana Beach weekly when we lived in California and this was our first visit to the one here in Chicago. Although it's been almost a year and a half since our last Jersey Mike's visit, it's everything we remember. Love the number 5 on wheat, Mike's way!

It's time for an update for Jersey Mike's. This store has replaced Subway and Potbelly for me. The staff is friendly and courteous; the sandwiches are yummy. When JM opened back in late '12, I wondered how they would keep up with making sandwiches fresh by hand...well, they have. JM is special because every sandwich is made fresh -- unlike Subway and Potbelly where everything has been sitting out for hours on end; so yeah, it might take a little bit to make your sandwich, but it is worth it. Sometimes they might make a mistake and forget to put something on, but if that happens, they are more than gracious to fix it...sometimes even getting a new sandwich. ...and they survived their first Pride Parade of 2013. Big shout out to you all!

Tried Jersey Mike's out today and I'm really glad we did. Excellent customer service, freshly made sandwiches, (meat and cheese sliced for your sandwich right then and there) that taste great, reasonable prices and a nice clean atmosphere to eat in. The guy that waited on us today could not have been nicer. I cannot believe this place is a chain because the service and quality of food is fantastic.

  • Bryan R.

Its only fair that I update my previous reveiw because I have continued my patronage to this location and have had wonderful experiences. The manager is terrific and most of the employees know me by name.. Now if i order from grub hub, my order is ready to go immediately upon arrival without any wait time. The menu has all the trimmings that they did not have at this location when it first opened, and the customer service is phenomenal. Its as if the owner actually read the reviews and took heed, making this place even more appealing to patrons.. Love all the subs, but if you don't order ahead of time then you are liable to wait a while for your sandwich, as this location gets busy rather quickly and the process of cutting the fresh meat can be time consuming when the place is packed.

Natives of mid Michigan will be thrilled to have a taste of Jersey Mike's. I'm not sure if there's a connection between Jersey Mike's and the Lansing area "Jersey Giant's", but the two businesses operate quite similarly: Fresh bread, big old meat slicer, and simple ingredients. I'm not prone to hyperbole, but Jersey Giant's is my favorite sub anywhere; and to my palette, Mike's is a darn near replica. Thumbs way up.

What a nice addition to the area. In an area where there are lots of ethnic cuisines, burgers, Mexican, Chicken Hut, etc. it's nice to have a sub place. IMO the subs here are better than Subway and Potbelly but I guess that's all personal opinion. The store seems clean and new unlike some other questionable places in the area so five stars all the way. Oh and get your sandwich Mike's way. It's awesome.

I went there after receiving a coupon from the staff at St. Joseph's Clinic. It was my first visit. Dave, the manager and sandwich maker was not out right friendly, though he did manage to help us with our first order. Our subs were fresh and good. Better than Subway, yet not as good as Potbelly's.

Great sub shop. I tried the cheesesteak and the Italian and they were both great. If you are ever deciding between something like Subway or Jersey Mikes, Mikes is the clear choice. I will be sure to put this on my list of favorites for a quick bite to eat.

Before coming to Jersey Mike's Subs, my favorite sub shop was Jimmy John's. I love their Italian sandwich (#5 - The Vito). After my friends and I decided to try Jersey Mike's, we all felt the same way - Jersey Mike's Italian Sub (#13 - The Original Italian) was "WAY BETTER" in every aspect. How can you beat fresh sliced deli meats & cheeses on a sub? No one else in the area provides this level of freshness on a sub, and the juice makes the sub way better than anything else I have tried! Once I moved into this neighborhood and found out that we had our own Jersey Mike's here, I was super excited. Unlike Subway, Jersey Mike's is not available in many places, so count yourself LUCKY to have one near by your neighborhood. That said; I have been coming to this store for over a year now, and have not found anything wrong with this location. Here is the breakdown: RESTAURANT - always clean every time I have been there, even on the weekend when they get crazy busy during their lunch rush. This location also provides FREE WIFI if you need to stay a little longer to browse the internet for work or play. FOOD QUALITY - once again, the subs are always fresh sliced to order so it is always great tasting every time. I have never been disappointed in my Italian Sub, which I am hooked on for over a year! STAFF - always friendly and available to help you with your sub selection. I have never been treated badly or un-professionally at this location. What more can you ask for in a fast casual restaurant? RESTROOM - always clean and well stocked. I like the fact that they have a "coded" door knob to keep the bathroom "clean and safe" for their customers. DELIVERY / PICKUP - there have been times when I craved my Italian Sub and can not make it in to the store, so I would order my food on-line for delivery. If you are in a hurry and need to get your food quickly, avoid the line (especially on the weekend) by ordering ahead for "In Store Pickup." I use this option when I don't have a lot of time to spare waiting in line, as you can pay for your sub on line before picking it up - way faster for those busy weekends with lots to do. In summary, I "highly recommend" Jersey Mike's Subs any given day over the other sub shops and "highly recommend" their Italian Subs - you will not be disappointed. I am thrilled to have my own Jersey Mike's here in my neighborhood and hope to see them become an anchor store for this neighborhood for many years to come. Keep up the good works guys, see you in the store soon!

Whoever says that Jimmy Johns or Subway is better has absolutely no taste buds. I used to love me some JJs...but then I first tried Jersey Mike's when I moved to Chicago almost two years ago and haven't gone to another sub place since. Yes, it does take a little more time to make this magnificent sammy but that's because it's made with quality and love. They slice fresh meat and cheese for your sandwich right in front of you and take good care of it while gently putting on the goods. It's a magical process, you know. I usually order the ham and provolone with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles along with Mike's Way. I recommend Mike's Way, which is red wine vinegar, olive oil and oregano/whatever else is in their seasoning. Join their free points membership cause you get free sammys along your journey. #mikesforlife

I want to start off by saying, I love Jersey Mike's. I was so excited when I saw a location was opening by me a couple years ago, and started coming pretty often. I'll take them over Jimmy John's or Subway any day. But this location is quite frankly the worst fast casual restaurant I have ever been to in terms of service. I simply cannot understand how there are so many reviews saying that it is good here. The first few times I came after it opened, I chalked the slow and clunky service up to it being a new location; it takes time to train people and work out some of the kinks. But here it is two years later and these people still don't know how to efficiently make sandwiches in a line. I have never once walked in and out in a reasonable amount of time, and it's gotten to the point where if there are more than a couple of people in line, I just won't go in. I have a feeling that whoever is training employees is to blame because it's not like the employees are rude or anything. They just have no idea what they are doing. They don't know the menu, which is crazy because there are like 10 sandwiches. I've ordered a number on multiple occasions only to have the employee ask me what that is. I have to remind the person what toppings I wanted at least twice because they are trying to make a couple sandwiches at once and mix them up. It's slow, inefficient, and leads to confusion almost every time I've been in. All of this stems from not being trained properly. I really hope they get this figured out because I do love Jersey Mike's. I used to come once every week or two, now I maybe go once a month because the service is so crappy. Update: I went back again recently and it was the same exact problem, despite being different people. I am almost certain it is how they are being trained, having been in food service myself before. They must be being told to make two sandwiches at once, which leads to the employees mixing up toppings and forgetting what you wanted. You end up repeating yourself and it takes longer than if they just did one at a time. I have never seen such confusion between the customer, the employee topping the sandwich, and the cashier. At least they are friendly!

I have wanted to write this review for a long time since I started coming here a few months ago---Any business that supports the community the way Jersey Mike's does deserves to have it's loyal customers voices heard. Jersey Mike's has done numerous fundraisers and donated many times for the schools in the area. They also support various causes such as autism and other local charities. That's how I first started eating here---because I came in to buy a sub to support cancer research for my mom who has cancer. I quickly realized that Jersey Mike's truly believes in giving back. I had a long discussion with the owner about how Jersey Mike's really believes in making the community better and stronger. He is genuinely a nice guy. That's why I support them, they truly set themselves apart. Besides that, the subs taste great, you get a huge sub for what you pay for, and the employees are always helpful. What more can you ask???? Kudos to Jersey Mike's---I'm a huge fan!

I come here frequently. The service is extremely slow because they're usually training new people all the time. Occasionally I run into the head manager. He is rude and his personality is horrible. No wonder why they can't keep employees. Don't come here if you're in a hurry
