I miss Wawa, being a South Jersey guy myself and this is a close 2nd. They do put a little much oil and Vinegar in the sandwich, so just ask for light. The use of the word Subs is ok cause they are a North Jersey operation. Just wish they had Herr's chips to make it a true Jersey experience. Customer service could be a little improved. Just not a well oiled machine yet. That will come over time. I will be back 4 sure.

I've eaten at a lot of Jersey Mike's, and this location is the worst. Apathetic employees who don't say hello and thank you and higher than average prices than other Jersey Mike's I've visited. Spare us the "higher rent downtown" shtick. Jimmy Johns next door doesn't charge an average of $9 for a sandwich.

As I write this review, we have been on hold for over 40 minutes. Please take a look at the picture attached to this review. The food? Delicious! The service here? LAUGHABLE. Don't waste your time, or money. My coworkers and I work on the same street at this Jersey Mike's and we will no longer be bringing our business here (ESPECIALLY with Jimmy John's right next door). The employees here are absolutely horrid, and management doesn't seem to care about their customers either. Shame too, as we order lunch for vendors and partners as well as ourselves multiple times a week. We will no longer even consider Jersey Mike's, as this is their of standard customer service on a regular basis. Food is good, but it's not worth the time, money, or headache that is dealing with its employees.

Always a disaster!!!!! The staff is either incompetent or apathetic. Either way - expect to wait a long time for an order that's probably going to be wrong anyway.

Spare us the "higher rent downtown" shtick. Jimmy Johns next door doesn't charge an average of $9 for a sandwich. I don't expect a "churn 'em & burn 'em" quickness that eliminates what differentiates JM from Jimmy Johns which explains why the employees don't seem friendly.

Food is amazing but the speed of the service is horrible. 3 people working and 2 didn't even seem to care how many people were waiting in line. Few customers couldn't wait so they just walked out. I would have done the same if they weren't working on my sub. Took them almost 5 minutes to make my Italian sub. Almost waited 15-20minutes for my sub.

If you're looking for a standard sub sandwich during your hour lunch break, the food here is great.. No complaints there. However, the service here stinks and I'm bummed because it doesn't have to! The employees rush to set up a billion sandwiches on the line and customers have to repeat their order 3-4 times before someone can actually remember what they've asked for. THEN, whoever is on register is always trying to cash people out before their sandwich has even been made. Agh! I just want to see everyone work together and get along. Too much rushing, too much shouting over one another, and not enough smiles and remembering of orders.

My fiancé and I were hungry for a late night snack and wanted to get a more healthy option then just your typical fast food place. Not many sub shops are open late so seeing that Jersey Mike's on Ohio was open until 10pm, we quickly made our way over there. At 9:45pm I decided to call so our subs would be ready and we could do a fast pick up order. When I called 15 minutes before closing nobody answered. We continued to head over there knowing we had just enough time. We pulled up to Jersey Mikes at 9:53pm and they were closed! I used to work in retail and I know that you never close before the posted time! Even if a customer walks in at 9:59pm you still need to serve them! They closed 7 minutes early and stopped answering the phone 15 minutes before closing! Very disappointing and poor customer service!!

So you think subway is a real sub right? WRONG. Closet thing I've found to a boston sub this side of the delaware. The meats are sliced in front of you, the bread is soft yet the right amount of crisp. The largest side huge, think 20" long huge, you can get one and split it with a friend or family. Not bad for $20 in this city. I recommend either the 13 (italian) or either of the cheese steaks. All cold sandwiches should be had mikes way which is lettuce, tomato, onion, salt & pepper, oil & vinegar, and their herb blend. Not low cal but it is absolutely delicious. Check it out for a good fast food sub, especially if you think subway is the bees knees.

Wow. Rude. Visited on Sunday, April 13 around 3pm. Was scolded about not entering their queue correctly when no one else was in it. Sounded like the two rocket scientist employees got a strange kick out of making fun of my line entry logistics. Will never be back.

I visited the streeterville jersey mike's for lunch today with a couple coworkers and just KNEW after my experience there that this yelp page HAD to be filled with reviews about the poor service and surly workers. CONFIRMED. I'm titling this lil story "Mike's Way" or "No Way" So I had a hankering for a reuben, which I knew they had...but was thinking I could lighten it up a bit by subbing the pastrami for turkey (after seeing both sub flavors were the same price). Wrong...what a silly thought. Me: Could I get the reuben sub with turkey? Worker: (Befuddled look) No we can't do that Me: (laugh a little) Really??? Me: Hmmm, ok...can I order a TURKEY sub and put sauerkraut and thousand island dressing on it then? Worker: (LONG PAUSE) Uhhhh, sure we can do that...so like the reuben but with turkey? Me: (WOW) Yes please. Worker: Would you like me to heat up the sauerkraut? Me: Sure that would be great...can you do the turkey too? (THINGS ARE LOOKING UP) Worker: No we can't do that? Me: Are you serious? Why? Worker: We're just not allowed to. I think something happened once. (GREAT REASON CAPTAIN VAGUE) Me: (GIVING UP) Ok, let's just roll with the heated up sauerkraut then please. Enter what I assume must be the surly manager from the other descriptions on this page...he takes over dressing the sandwiches in the line up. Surly Manager: Mike's Way? Me: No thanks. Worker: She is getting thousand island with sauerkraut Surly manager: (Clearly annoyed moves on to another sandwich in the lineup that follows the "rules") Worker: (puts warmed sauerkraut on my cold turkey sub) So you want thousand island too right? Me: Yes please Surly Manager: What else? Me: That's it thanks Surly Manager: (wraps up sandwich gruffly) Me: Sorry things got complicated when I tried to get a turkey reuben (laugh to try and lighten the mood) Surley Manager: (NO EXPRESSION) We're not allowed to put meat on the grill (rings me up) Me: Hm. Thanks can I get a bag? Surley Manager: Whips open bag and hands it to me. I walk over to my two coworkers who I thought had been waiting on me and go to leave....my coworker says, "I am still waiting on mine...they had to put the meat on the grill so it always takes longer." WHA?? BAFFLED. This place is ridiculous. I will say my sammy was pretty solid after I put it in the toaster oven in my work break room. Natch.

General Service- I've been to this location quite a few times because I live and work in the area. The service in the past year has gone down hill. About a year ago they had the best crew working there but now all of those familiar faces are gone. The people working there now don't really seem to care about their customers or the orders they are preparing. They rush the orders and ask customers to repeat themselves more than once. I'd like to see it get back to how it was back in the good ol' days. Food- very tasty (when they get the order right). I feel like I need to watch their every move so nothing is left off the sandwich. My past few orders have been wrong- nothing too crazy, but little things like no mayo, no bacon, wrong type of mustard, no sweet chili relish (which is actually kind of a big deal because it's such a yummy condiment and great addition to the sandwich). I hope something is done about the service. I've been to this place so many times and it would be a shame to see it go downhill even more. P.S. R. Kelly has been seen eating here quite a few times. Look for the dark blue Bentley parked outside. :-)

Went here a couple of days ago and the service was terrible. We went there a bit after it opened, the Open sign was still off and the majority of the lights were off inside the place. As soon as we decided to take a chance and believe the hours on the door, we opened the door and the staff ran to the back. After a few minutes I had to holler "hello" for someone to come from the back. After they came, the staff weren't very friendly. Sorry your store hours say you are open, but you aren't ready to work! Won't be going back to this location.

As a Jersey girl this place makes me sad. First of all... they are called hoagies.. not subs... And this place is no Wawa which is the most magically place for hoagies in NJ and surrounding states. I feel like they use too much oil on their hoagies to the point where its gross.

Saturday is my "cheat" day. I look forward to a Jersey Mike's sandwich with "Mike's way." But I can't overlook the poor service every time I visit this location. Lunchtime...5 employees...fully staffed, right? I was greeted with the "whachuwant?" From a girl who appeared to want to be somewhere else. Once I gave her my order that was it. I stood patiently looking at the backs of four employees doing something besides making sandwiches. Only one other customer in the store. I was completely ignored. The manager was at the end of the counter with her face in her paperwork, oblivious the the situation. I went to Potbelly.

I like their smallest size sub...it's the perfect size for me and the price is right. I also like giving my business to a local joint, instead of the many no name sandwich shops that litter cities. Fast service, great options, and good prices. However, the seating is incredibly limited and the space at this location is awkward. I get my food to go.

I'm SO happy to have yet another quality lunch option open up near my office! My sandwich (turkey & provolone) was fresh and delicious... I like that they slice the meat in front of you, and it's super thin-sliced, which I love. The bread was fresh... soft with the right amount of crispiness, good topping choices, and they were as fast as they could be, considering the line was insane. There is a decent amount of seating inside, but it was so crowded, staying there was not an option today. As far as comparing to other sandwich shops, well, I can't even stomach to walk inside a Subway anymore... so I'd say that Jersey Mike's quality is FAR superior to Subway, and better than Jimmy John's as well. I'll definitely be back!

TOTAL TUNA FAIL! I ordered a Tuna Sub but when the tuna is spread thinner than the slice of tomato on it, I dont think I can call it a tuna sub any more! The rest of the toppings to this sandwich were ample and fresh but it would be nice to be able to taste the Tuna somewhere in there.

Delicious sub and outstanding service! I grew up in Boston, we have real sub shops everywhere. Here in Chicago they have no idea. They think Subway is a real sub. Keep that in mind when reading some of these reviews. It's like askinf someone who has eaten nothing but Chef Boyardee to recommend a good Italian restaurant. David was great, explained all the options and made me a great sub: the Italian made Mike's Way. The freshly sliced quality meats at Jersey Mike's make a huge difference. I highly recommend!

Just like many of the other posts, I will point out that this isn't the most efficient place. I've worked in sandwich places and managed a couple and feel that this is a disaster during rush hour. You tell the first person what you want it it becomes like a telephone game where the message gets passed on through 3 other people, on top of other sandwich descriptions, to the people who make your sub. Sure this process can be improved. Sure the layout could have been better. There is a second sandwich prep area that seems to be hardly used. But yes I am a fan due to the tasty subs! I've been looking for a new kind of sub and Mikes Way has it going on. And the staff, they are really friendly, even though it is an unorganized cluster. If you can avoid this place during rush hour, then do it. But if you can't, keep a close eye on your sub and just make sure you repeat what you want to the person making your sub. Even then they could mess it up. I saw a guy order a tuna wrap and say to the person 3 times extra tomatoes and ground pepper only, they got the tomato part right but put oregano instead. Oh well, its just a sub right?

Beside Potbelly, this is my go-to place for subs. Try the Club sub with everything minus the onions and bacon. The philly cheese steak sub is pretty good too.

My son was having heart surgery at children's hospital a few block away, I stumbled across jersey Mike ' s walking to the Ronald McDonald house a block away. stopped in one day and ordered 9 sandwiches for my wife and i nurses taking care of my son, ( food was pretty good) A few days later went back and purchased 10 more sandwiches and spent around $90 more on food, the lady said do you know about are reward program I said no. So signed up that day! on that Saturday went there for 5 #8 ' s asked to put my phone # for a free sandwich they said there system was down but take the ticket and bring it back and we will enter on your next visit so I did on Wednesday I was buying 7 small and 5 large sandwiches and again the system was down. I explained that here is my receipt from last from Saturday and I'm buying these right now she said there is nothing I could do, customer service is horrible all she said was cash or credit . I replied I'm out of here, she said ok "next" really I spent on $300 bucks there in a week and again she said next. Walked over to corner bakery across the street and bought my family and the nurse's sandwiches there and spent $80 the food was great customer service was superior! will never do business with jersey Mikes Again! !

Restaurant Review Great service, poor sandwich. I have never had a Jersey Mike sub before and after today I don't think I will go back. Service was great and the staff was quick at making the subs and super friendly as well, but my good vibes ended here. I ended up being a sucker and going for the "famous roast beef and provolone". The certified angus USDA and cooked in shop sold me. I ended up getting the "giant" size which cost surprisingly 12 dollars. The bread itself is fresh and comparable to Jimmy Johns which is right next door. The giant sub was slightly larger than a foot long. My sub was decked out Mike's way with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, vinegar, oil and spices; unfortunately I could not taste the angus beef or provolone and the problem is everything is so thinly sliced that you get no flavor. Half way through the sub, I had to check that they didn't forget the provolone. It was there all 2 mm thin cheese. My wife ended up getting the better choice with the big kahuna 7.xx (i.e. a philly steak like sandwich if you take out the jalapenos. Pro- great staff, quick service Con- lack of meat flavor and cheese gets two thumbs down Hidden deal- Sign up for the email club on Jersey Mike's website for coupon savings!

First time ever going to this sub/sandwich shop. And it will def not be my last, the food/prices beat out Jimmy John's by a long shot... If your hungry get the large sub no need to eat for another 5-6hrs. I wish they had locations on Michigan guess I'll have to wait till next time I cone back to visit Chicago... Oh by the way Jimmy Johns is three doors down and at around 11am/12pm there was only 1-3 people at JJ and about 15-20 and JM!

So I went to jersey mikes in Michigan for the first time last week, and when I got home to Chicago decided to head there for dinner one Wednesday evening, the manager in Michigan was so friendly after talking to him a few mins and telling him it was my first time he gave me a stack of buy a sandwich get chips and a drink free cards! Awesome right!? So back in Chicago, I order my 13 and hand the nice cashier my coupon and grab my chips and she hands me a to go cup, I forgotten I had rode my bike in and I asked her "may I grab a can or bottle so I can throw it in my bag cause I rode my bike?" She was about be like sure, but before I could even finish my sentence the dip shit manager promptly yells NO!! From out of nowhere. Not sure his name but he was the about 6ft maybe Lebanese dude with a trimmed beard just staring at me with the death gaze. I said thanks under my breath and shot a look back to him back and left my to go cup on the counter.. What a jackass what do those bottles vs a fountain drink matter to him? Needless to say guy was a total douche and knows nothing about customer service, next time I'll be trying the one on wells, maybe they want their customers coming back. I mean seriously am I wrong here to be pissed about this? Expected way better after how nice the manager in MI treated me. After writing this I've lost my appetite honestly. Growlll!

This place is ok. If it wasn't across the street from my office I would never go out of my way to stop in. Their big thing is that they cut the meat and cheese in front of you - I guess it's a decent gimmick but if you're buying deli meats and cheeses hopefully you know it's all a bunch of processed food anyways so whether they cut it in front of you or not doesn't change the fact that it's still processed food. Word to the wise about when they ask you if you want it "Mike's Way" - if you don't like straight up chugging olive oil from the bottle, I'd highly recommend telling them to go light on the oil and vinegar. Every time I watch them put that stuff on it's like they are having an oil and vinegar war with the sandwich. Even when I tell them to go light on both, sometimes they completely ignore me or just forget and go crazy anyways and it pisses me off! The staff are all super nice so that's a plus.

Staying at the Inn of Chicago tonight. Was super curious about Jersey Mikes. It's right across the street. It's Saturday night. I get out of my room and walk across the street. It's CLOSED at 8pm? What? Forced to go to Jimmy's 2 doors down. On a side note the JJ gargantuan is pretty good.

It is an east coast vs. west coast sandwich standoff in Streeterville! When I saw the signs advertising the new Jersey Mike's right next door to an established Jimmy Johns, I rolled my eyes. Why two sandwich places? The differences between and thus the need for the two sandwich places soon became clear. I usually eat a vegetarian diet, but when I walked into Jersey Mike's on a cold snowy day I ordered the biggest cheese steak on the menu. I was not disappointed! The bread is so moist and fluffy, the cheese great, and the meat was fine. The cold subs remind me of the deli sandwiches I ate in New York City. Not the quickest service- but if you need a sub so fast you'll freak, Jimmy Johns is next door. Go to Jersey Mikes for a good quality comfort sandwich.

This place rules. It's on my walk home from work, so I stop in a few nights a week to pick up a sandwich for dinner. The employees are always super friendly and seem happy to be there. It's a really nice vibe. I get the Turkey & Provolone on wheat bread every time. Clearly I think it's a good sandwich. They slice the meat in front of you, and so it's very fresh. The bread is also delish. I get the medium sandwich, and it's more than enough to fill me up. Might be a bit pricier than other sandwich chains, but the sandwiches are larger and I'll always pay more for fresh. Especially fresh meat. Big fan of Jersey Mikes!

  • E M.

Disaster. Suuuch friendly, nice and young employees, but the layout is ridiculous. You can't fill a drink at the same time as anyone else, and you definitely can't do it without holding up a line of ten people and spilling stuff everywhere 'cause there's nowhere to put down your bag and chips. Plus, all the lids are split and your drink goes everywhere... The subs...eh... I got it "Mike's Way," but Jersey and Philly have grit. The food from that region has flavor and bite. This place nets out to being better than Subway at twice the price. So, what's that? It's 3 stars and a longer-than-average wait for your food, people.

I was walking around on my lunch hour, tired of all the standby options and looking for something new. I stumbled upon Jersey Mike's and realized I'd never been to one of these sandwich shops before. No time like the present to give it a whirl. I walked in and saw the place was really busy with hardly an empty table. The line is confusing and it starts in the middle and then splits into two lines, one heading left and one heading right. For people like me who are used to sandwich and burrito joints walking you through the design/build of your personal sandwich, this ain't it. You feel really rushed and unsure about how to order and where to stand while you wait. I quickly mumbled that I wanted the meatball sub and then waited for them to ask me what I wanted on it. They just took the order and asked me for my name. I paid and then tried to stand behind the line, awkwardly with everyone else waiting for their subs. Eventually, the dude who took my order came around the counter to hand me my sub in person, addressing me by name. About 10 minutes into the sub, he even came by to ask me how I liked the sub (still remembering to address me by my name). So for that, I have to say the people who work here are trained to be incredibly nice and super polite. As for the food however, I felt like the meatball sub was very bland, very large and left a lot to be desired. Subway's meatball sub is way tastier than this, and for a lot less money. Granted, I've only tried one sandwich on JM's entire menu, so the jury is still out. However, I'm not sure that I'll be running back there anytime soon, even if their staff happens to be one of the nicest fast-food crews you'll find on the planet.

It was my first time eating at a Jersey Mike's and it was great! I ask the sandwich maker for a recommendation and suggested the #4 (don't recall the actual name but was two kinds of ham and provolone cheese) and it was awesome! Honestly may have been the best sub I have ever had! I had it "Mike's way", as suggested, with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. I also added this red chili relish that was very tasty. The sandwich maker yelled down the the checkout guy "that its his first time, give him a cookie", which I appreciated and it has a great homemade chocolate chip. I will be back soon :)

I went to this Jersey Mike's for the first time today for lunch with a few co-workers and had the Chicken Parm sandwich. The staff was friendly and fun (if a tiny bit over the top) and my sandwich was delicious. I think I might have found another go to spot for my lunch hours.

I've been a big fan of "Poor Boy" in Maywood, but it's always been out of the way for me. Glad to finally have a Jersey Mikes in the neighborhood. I LOVE "The Original Italian" and tried the Cheesesteak for the first time yesterday. Having lived in Philly for a year I can say it's a nice facsimile, if not the real thing--definitely satisfies the craving! Good staff of enthusiastic, proud people!

Damn this place is good! The #8 is my fav! Jimmy Johns was next door and it could not compete with JM's! This place is just damn good!

I've ate at the Jersey Mike's in Mt. Propsect once or twice and enjoyed the philly cheesesteak, but after having the chicken parm at this location I was totally dissatisfied. The chicken parm was just unappealing and very bland. Too much bread and breading on the chicken and not enough cheese. I might go back and try the cheesesteak again, but I'll stay very clear of the chicken parm.

This place is a cluster you-know-what if I ever saw one. The sandwiches are ok - pretty plain, nothing exciting. But the chaos behind the counter is ridiculous. I counted 15 (!) staff behind the counter as well as 3 on the floor attempting to direct traffic. Even with all of those people, no one knew where to go, who to place their order with, who to ask for what. What a mess. They just opened, so maybe it will calm down in a few weeks and they'll get it together. I dare say less staff would actually be helpful. The subs are pretty forgettable. I'll stick with the Jimmy Johns two stores over. A tastier sandwich in an eighth of the time.
