I read Jenn M.'s review and took it to heart. I have to say,Jenn lied to us. Geneo's is even better than she describes. A longtime staple for our softball team, somehow Geneo's drifted from us as the neighborhood changed and we moved to different parts of the city. I always assumed that is was sold, like most older places were, and then bastardized by the new owners. When I ordered this past week, I was pleasantly delighted. This is the pizza that Chicago was filled with in the 70's and the 80's. Incredible. Great toppings (plenty of choices), excellent crust, and sauce.....yum. If it is possible, it is even better than I remembered. Pizza that is made EXACTLY as you order, decent prices, and great delivery. While it may not be an epiphany, this is certainly a reliable,go-to pizza joint. In my top 3 neighborhood places for sure.

My family and I have been ordering Geneo's since we moved into the neighborhood 16+ years ago. All of our other relatives also order from here. The pizza is great and very innexpensive - I am actually always surprised at how inexpensive it is. We always ask for extra sauce because it appears most pizza joints have been going skimpy with sauce lately. You just can't go wrong with this pizza - great cheese, sauce, and ingredients. OK crust though. I haven't had anything else on the menu other than fries, onion rings, and fried zucchini.

I really like the pizza from here. Introduced to it by a friend of mine, I usually get my pizza from here. They have found a good balance of sauce, cheese, toppings and crust. The service is friendly and prompt, with the pizza I ordered ready when they say it will be.

  • Laura J.

Geneo's has been here for over 40 years, maybe more. The have the best thin-crust on the south side. The special has everything on it, including bacon and ham. The sauce could be a little more flavorful, but for the value, with all the topping and cheese, it's the best thin crust in Chicago. Take out only.

  • Veronica L.

This is my favorite pizza joint! I'd give it 5 stars but sometimes when i call to place an order 'Roseanne' picks up! Lol that's not really her name but she's a rude, older woman.. Other than that, the best pizza ever!

  • Anais N.

I order pizza here all the time. The large looks like medium. So we usually order jumbo. So its big enough. The people who answer the phone are very rude. Now here's the part that messes me up. When I order. Pizza for pick it'll be ready in 30 minutes. But for delivery it takes 2 1/2 hours. For my cold pizza. After 2 hours I always have to call them and say ... Hey where's my pizza?!?! Which the reply it'll be there in 20 minutes which is usually 45. Hate having delivery! The. Cheese sticks are good. But the marinara sauce is not the best. It has huge chunks of ground beef? Would be better with out the meat

  • Jen R.

Delicious pizza if you're willing to wait 2 hours for your order. Ridiculous. Service is horrible. They say it's coming and it isn't. Then they tell you there isn't any supervisor or manager or owner to talk to apparently the kids run the place. Ridiculous service.

In search of the best non meat pizza during this Lenten season. Could not find a menu anywhere online for this place. The only thing I found was a blurry picture that you can't read on yelp. Ordered a half cheese and half green pepper and onion. Found the cheese side to be better tasting then the onion and green pepper. Not sure if it was because the veggies are out of season here in Chicago. Definitely will try some of their meat pizzas from here after Lent.

This used to be my top pick for local pizzerias. They're fast with delivery and the BBQ chicken pizza is amazing but I had an issue not too long ago. I ordered a BBQ pizza with an order of onion rings. I took a bite out of a big onion ring and what do you know? I find this long black hair tangled in between the onion and the batter. That was really gross.

  • Emm R.

Their Pizza is the best! Especially the stuffed pizza. Extremely delicious. Out of all the pizza joints I've gone to, Geneo's is the best one!!

  • Maria A.

Good pizza !the lady is most likely always mad because of the area the business is in, and ppl she probably has to deal with ,lol I don't judge as long as the pizza is tasty you'll have my business lady #soupforme !

  • Diana B.

Good Pizza.... great Buffalo Wings. Going to continue to order more of their food when I'm in the area.

  • Miguel H.

I've been eating this pizza for years and it's always been good pizza! But last week I ordered and for the first time in like 17 years they got my order wrong! The drivers always have a bad addituide, in an exception on like a couple of them the lady in charge always had a bad addituide until recently! All in all good pizza, but gonna stick to picking it up from know on And checking it before I leave now!

  • Joana H.

1 out of 10 I give the pizza a 5 maybe a 6 because fast delivery but other than that the pizza wasn't as great as other people in the reviews mention. The delivery guy also had a bad attitude. I give this pizza place 3 stars.

    (3)
  • Dee R.

I'm giving this place 1 star. It used to be 5 in our family but lately it's been bad. We have gotten wrong order 3 times and it seems like they are getting very cheap with their dough and cheese. The last time we ordered (last week) it was super thin and hardly any cheese on it. I felt like I was eating crackers with some cheese on top. It's sad because this was our number 1 pizza place but I'm not sure what happened lately that has changed so much. Maybe new pizza people or new owners??? Who knows, all I know is that it's time to move on and look for a different pizza place.

    (1)
  • Consuelo B.

Love their pizza the only reason they don't get 5 stars is because they take more then 1 hr to Deliver...

    (4)
  • Foodie C.

FIND ANOTHER PIZZA PLACE! I wanted to put ZERO stars but site wont let me. People answering the phones are ALWAYS VERY RUDE and IGNORANT. It's always about food and service. Used to put up with it because pizza was good but food has been lacking and will not be ordering anymore. Not worth your frustration and money. PLENTY of better pizza places around.

    (1)
  • Jaime C.

The Only reason they only get 4 stars is because they don't have a dining area.... This is by far my go to pizza joint in the neighborhood, Also reasonable priced. It seems to be family owned which is a plus for me, they always give you a 2 liter soda when you order a large pizza.....Delivery and carry out only. If you're in the area definitely check this place out best thin crust in the south side!!

    (4)
  • Melissa S.

Well, I hate to give a bad review but this pizza did not live up to the reviews I read! The thin crust was very doughy and the pizza was dry. No flavor at all except in the sausage... which the sausage was delicious and fresh. I couldn't even taste the cheese because of the crust. I really felt bad for my hubby because he was coming off a fast. He wanted Dominos and I said NO let us get some "real" pizza. Needless to say should've got the Dominos because one thing they have is the buttery garlic flavor. We may try this place again. I just read a tip to order extra thin with extra sauce, that may work out better for us. The price was reasonable.

    (2)
  • Brian S.

Really good pizza. And reasonably priced. They always give u a two liter of pop when u get a pizza. Last time, we ordered two big pizzas and got two two liters. I got extra two liters on my back porch cuz we don't even drink the pop most times!

    (4)
  • Brad L.

I've got to give this one five stars. I cannot count the number of times this placed has saved me from starving while working my job on the south side. Pizza is delicious, service is good, fast delivery, they usually bring a free bottle of pop for me too! So I get a large 2 topping delivered, w/ pop for ~ $15. Highly recommended!!

  • Phil F.

Awesomest pizza near MDW. Next time I'm working nearby, I'm getting more. I went to Giordano's on the same trip, and it wasn't nearly as good. I had a deep dish with spinach, tomatoes and chicken. Now deep dish isn't my first choice, but I was with someone from California who had never had Chicago pizza, so there really was no choice. Still, it was pretty awesome. Next time I'll order with extra sauce. For me what makes Chicago pizza so much better than what I get in most other cities is the crust. That nice crunch it has right out of the oven someone how can't reproduced in my hometown Detroit. Unfortunately there is no seating at Geneo's so this means eating in the car, an unwieldy but tasty proposition with a deep dish pizza.

    (5)
  • Love L.

The pizza is ok. They do have good prices and odd hours that are open. It is not a dine in but more like a carry out. Whatever you do...Do not order the Canolis! I did and they were stale and cold.

  • Link F.

On a much earlier visit I made the mistake of bringing my prejudices with me. First off, I can eat a TON of pizza. If it's great, I can eat a few tons. They have to wheel barrow me out of the best pizza joints, and happily so. Problem was, I was thinking in terms of New Orleans, California, East Coast, etc. and these were geographically and volumetric-ally off by major margins. Order staff looked at me and my diminutive female guest and advised a small. I brushed her off like the rhino to the fly and ordered the large (congratulating myself for the moderation I showed by not ordering the extra large). A large came and I plowed gustily into my first slice, pausing 2/3 through as I realized it was only slice #1 and I was already suffering jaw fatigue. This tore a serious chunk out of my appetite all by itself. Meanwhile, the pizza was great - tasty, piquant, rich, thick, joyous, incredibly filling and so on. I approached slice number two with more caution, but not enough. The last half of slice #2 had more pain than joy and I had to stop eating like it was pizza. Further ingestion was clearly going to be a matter of pacing and pride rather than the ravenous devastation I was used to when the flavor and mood struck. By the time the third slice became a possibility I was sweating like a Saudi Prince and asking myself whether I had (gasp!) made a horrible error in judgment. I had. My twiggy guest had eaten almost half of one slice and I managed only a few bites into #3 before giving up and leaving a good 4 pieces untouched. I'm not sure whether the server's grin was an "I told you so" or a "Good, now we can feed homeless people all over the Midwest for another week" but whatever it was, she was right. Moral of the story: Order with caution

The Pizza of my childhood still kicks ass and takes no prisoners and while time may decay us all the pizza remains delicious!!! People I am letting you know right now order a Jumbo Sausage, Mushroom, Pepperoni pizza with some french fries and you will thank me later. Best Pizza in the block obviously and delicious too. ps. The sausage in the pizza (no homo) is Fantastic!!! best ever!!!!!!!

  • Jenn M.

I'll start off by saying that I'm a little biased since this place is run by my family. It hasn't been at this location for 40 years but the place has been around for almost that long in different locations. They used to be over on Lawndale, I think. I can't remember, since I was a kid. Anyhow, I absolutely believe they have some of the best pizza out there. I've yet to find one that tastes as good as they make it. They also have TONS of other things from sandwiches to pasta to fish and chicken. If you need it, they've got it and it's all pretty darn tasty. Geneo's was originally owned by my grandparents, Bob and Charlotte. Then my dad, Bob, took over several years ago (he's worked there the entire history of the place). My dad died this last July and the place has been taken over by my grandparents again. If you're there, say hi to my grandmother. Everyone calls her Char or Chi (shy). She's a pistol but a lot of fun! And ask for some garlic bread with cheese "Jennifer style". She'll load it up with garlic butter and it's the BEST!

ive been ordering pizza from here ever since we moved into the neighborhood(when you were able to walk the dogs from california to western at night), then follow it up with renting from royal concept video on 59th n whipple. you can say something like 20+ years. ok the thin crust pizza is some of the best thin crust in chicago, i usually order the sausage with extra sause( the bacon and mushroom topping are also very good). the also sell some of the best texas torpedo's(stuffed jalepenos) breaded zucchini, mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, and the ribs are to die for. i still order from here almost every weekend since i still live in the neighborhood, but if i didnt i would make the trip(the thin crust pizza is that good). all good things aside i really dont care for the stuffed or deep dish pizza here, but again the thin crust is great. so if your ever in the neighborhood, or make the trip, but you wont be able to sit in the place since its only pick up or delivery, so dont come here thinking your going to sit down and eat it in here. that being said call first (773) 925-1631(pizza should be ready in 30 minutes) and dont forget to get the connoli's !!!!
