Ordered all of the appetizers on the happy hour menu and was surprised by how good they were (meatballs, sausage and peppers, white bean dip, etc.). Food had the extra touches you would expect at a more expensive restaurant. Wines were OK, service was solid. If you have an appointment downtown, you can park all night after 5 for only $5 in the mall with a validation from the resto -- deal of the century.

The company of two hot men? About twelve stars. The food? A couple bites of melted cheese on a matzo. Needed two vodka tonics to wash down the exceedingly dry fare. That's not pizza, people.

Definitely recommend this place for those looking for a tasty yet casual dining experience. We ordered the Fritto Mito and pepperoni pizza. Both were so delicious! We also had a bottle of the house Pinot Grigio, Frankie Takes The Fifth which was only priced at $19.95. The decor is pretty awesome too. We sat on the indoor patio with checkered table clothes and red umbrellas. Great service from Wes!

Not great, but good enough after a long day of shopping. I really love their chopped salad. Service sucks.

$6 for a slice of pizza to go? Outrageous at first (especially for a New Yorker), but considering the ingredients are local, the crust is organic, the slice is huge, and the taste (for the Mushroom one with grana padano and truffle oil) amazing... I guess it's not so bad... but let's not forget, this is the 900 N Michigan Shops, would you expect a cheaper price? Ideally I would give it 3.5.

My coolest Yelp experience yet... when I went back to Frankie's some 6 months later, and Irene was my waitress again (and this was before I had my mug shot up there), out of the blue she asked me if I was the one who had written a favorable review on Yelp! Why, I said, of course I am! I really hadn't tipped her that much, you know. Thus far, that's the only time someone has "yelped me out"!

Ayyyyyyy...forgeta 'bout it, come on over to Frankie's and have some scallopine! Luckily, we got a coupon from Lettuce Entertain You and just now discovered this place. I have to admit I was hesitant. We walked over and got there at 8pm....I was worried because they close early, but we were fine. So we chose to sit "outside" and there were a few occupied tables, but they were far from crowded. I assume they do much better at lunch due to their location. Our waitress was Nicki and she was very nice and helpful. We were really excited about their 5 after 5 menu, which gives you a handful of items to try for $5 a plate...ummm, don't get too excited...a small plate. We started with drinks and I got a nice Riesling and the fiance got some sort of stiff drink called Rye Italiano made with whiskey....yuck, not my taste, but after 2 sips you are suuuupppppppeeeerrrrr laid back and all stress dissipates...good for those that had a super stressful or crappy day. As part of the $5 menu we chose to start with the following: a nice creamy risotto, and filet mignon with shaved parmesan cheese. We also ordered a beet salad with walnuts and goat cheese, not part of that menu, but it was a special. Those items were all tasty and we were satisfied...but then we also ordered the Chicken Scallopine Milanese, which came with arugula, parmesan and asparagus...it was huge, tender and encrusted in cheese. It was yummy and we cleaned our plates...but we weren't done yet!! Hard to believe I know, but we also got dessert...I completely blame our waitress Nikki for convincing us to get that warm cookie and ice cream. YUMMMMM...and yes, we cleaned that plate too. We were real champions on this day. Luckily we walked there and had to walk back. I assume I burnt of the asparagus and maybe a few beets. Joy... The food was good and the service was good. I have to mention that Nikki, another waitress and I shared pics of our pets....there was some bonding over cuteness captured via our phones. I wish they were open later, but I understand that based on location, 9pm makes sense....oh well, we will have to work around that.

Is it sad that I get nostalgic for the cheesiness that was Tucci Benocch?I think not. Who didn't love eating "outside" under the trees or "inside" the cutesy Italianesque village? Instead the love is replaced by a more modern Italian trattoria. Nice but its not the same. Luckily for fans of the baked spaghetti (a favorite of mine), you're still in luck. The heaping portion of spaghetti baked with cheese is complimented with your favorite marinara or meat sauce. I indulged and also tried the asparagus appetizer which was pretty tasty -- lightly breaded and cream dipping sauce...can you really go wrong? The cookie platter was nice but nothing too exciting. It was fun to sample the small sweets with my friend after my belly insisted that no more pasta was going in. Would I go again? Sure...especially if I have that hankering for my baked spaghetti (yes it does happen every now and then!)

I eat at Frankie's at least 2-3 times a week. I am always seated promptly--whether it's monday lunch or Friday dinner. Between my friends and me we have eaten a large part of the menu and I haven't had one thing that was less than stellar! Th waitstaff is really friendly--a couple of them remember us and sometimes stop to say hello even when they aren't waiting on us. For those who don't know us, they are ALWAYS willing to educate on the menu. Sometimes the service is a little slow but that is because often times the "outside" part will receive a large wave of people leaving them slightly understaffed...however..it's minor and not a regular thing. I love Frankie's and will continue to go back!

White pizza topped with fried egg with Ricotta cheese. I can die happy. Frankie sits in the take out window... he looks like a portrait.

This is the pizza place just outside of Frankie's Scallopine at the 900 N Michigan mall. Really interesting pizza. It's not your traditional pizza - be aware of that. It's Sardinian style. Although they do have a couple of more traditional pizza styles on their menu, their speciality is the Sardinian. These pizzas are made with grana padano cheese and no sauce, and served with olive oil. They are very thin - sized for one. My favorite is the Rita D, a very unusual pizza made with Ricotta, Asparagus, Truffle Oil, and an egg plopped right in the middle. It's delicioius! Very casual atmosphere, sometimes you get to sit right at the big windows looking out over Michigan Avenue. Highly recommended for a different style of pizza.

The best part: my gracious host didn't like it here, so I can be honest without feeling like an ingrate. We'd come to 900 N. Michigan for lunch at the Oak Tree but didn't know it was closed or renovations. So, too lazy to venture off to somewhere we knew, we came here, where neither of us had eaten. Ever had pizza flavored crackers? That's what we thought the thin crust Sardinian pizzas tasted like. Thin crust is one thing, but dry is another. My Paremesan/Anchovie pizza looked awesome on paper but when it arrived it really did taste like anchovie flavored butter melted on crackers with parmesan cheese. I didn't realize this is a Lettuce Entertain You undertaking until afterwards, which explains some of the mediocrity. But even Lettuce does way better than this more often than not. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The little pizzas (which aren't really so little) here are great! One pizza can actually be shared by two people... unless you're really, really hungry. I went for lunch on a weekday. The staff was friendly and helpful. Warning: the soda here is crazy expensive... $2.50!!! It made for a pricey lunch... about $12 or so... which I thought was expensive... can't be spending that kind of money every day. Next time I'll definitely split the pizza with someone and just have water. Oh! The caesar salad was great too... maybe I'll splurge on a side caesar too!

I thought the service was great here and for that reason, I almost gave this place 3 stars but the Pizza really didn't cut it for me. I would honestly say 2.5 stars. BUT, if you like Lettuce Entertain You restaurants, you'll like this place. The same style of food where everything is cooked to appeal to the masses. We arrived and some man with an accent wearing a chef's coat seated us. I thought he was the chef until I saw multiple people in chef's coats waking around doing non-chef-like duties. He was very nice. The room was a little too dark and cavernous for a Saturday afternoon lunch but perhaps more suitable atmosphere for dinner. The arugula salad with chicken was good and the iced tea with the add your own peach flavoring was favorable. We really liked that you could add your own peach flavoring thus not making it too sweet. The pizzas were OK. The pizza was oily and although it was very thin at one point, it got too thick near the crust. I like thin pizza but this just didn't cut it for me. It was paper thin at the center and thick by the crust, just not consistent. The sauce was too sweet and tangy. I think they hired staff that has never worked in restaurants which was a good idea, in my opinion - no bad habits to break. But it was kind of funny beaus the staff was so nervous about what they were doing. The bus boy was PARANOID about spilling the water and the server could not get away from his memorized spiel. The staff was very nice but probably could use a little more training. The pricing was reasonable. I may return if I were in the mall and was hungry for Pizza.

Truthfully there only a few items on the menu that even make this place worthwhile: the chopped salad and one of the pasta dishes that has rigatoni and peas (the name escapes me at the time of this review). I've tried more items on their menu, however each time I am extremely disappointed. For instance, Their seafood chopped salad is way too fishy and I really love fish! The only reason I even know about this place is linked to the fact that I work upstairs in the office space at 900 North Michigan. I am very unimpressed with the food quality. That, coupled with the fact that the take out attendant Kyle no longer works here (he was absolutely AWESOME), you could easily find better Italian food in the area...

Pretty good pizza. We loved the chicken pesto, but the mozzarella, tomato, and garlic was pretty bland. Also, the weird thing is that it's really 2 restaurants, and you need to choose one of the other when you get there. We obviously went for pizza. The other part is more pasta and salads than pizza.

I had a gift certificate for a free pizza so I met my friend here for lunch. It was not nearly as good as the last time. The wine was good but not fantastic. The tomato bisque soup was very good. They add a piece of crostini with cheese on the bottom of the bowl so that it melts into the soup. It was the best part of the meal. The worst was the margherita pizza. It was just very blah.

I discovered Frankie's while attempting to go to Tucci Benucch. Tucci had a 30 minute wait, and Frankie's had a lot of empty tables. Since I was starving I opted to go to Frankie's. Frankie's has taken over a portion of the hallway on the 5th Floor, right next to Tucci Benuch. They have barriers and plants to keep their restaurant from the rest of the mall, and it works fairly well. It would be best if the plants were taller so patrons couldn't see out and mall-goers couldn't see in. I'm sure the plants will grow in time. As this is a pizzeria, they really only serve pizzas, all 8" personal pizzas. There are a few appetizers, three salads, and soup to choose from if pizza isn't your thing. As I'm fairly unadventurous, I ordered the pepperoni pizza. A friend ordered the chicken and pesto. Both were amazing. I wasn't expecting much, since mine was only pepperoni after all, but it was the best pepperoni I've ever had. I'm not even joking. The crust was was crispy and fluffy at the same time. Perfection. The wine selection is small, but good, and decently priced. The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help.

We just left Frankie's Pizzeria--frustrated and hungry. We made reservations for a table in front of the window facing Michigan Ave. When we arrived (early), we saw the table waiting. While waiting, a walk-up couple (without a reservation) were lured into this establishment by a dim-witted front end person stating "boy, do I have a table for you", seating them at our reserved table. The reg. host then said to us, "well I had the table ready for you -- it even had menu's on the table." We then asked if he could reseat the other couple who were just sat down and he refused. With pizza places a dime a dozen in this town, good service is what will attract and retain customers. Clearly, they don't understand this at Frankie's. For a restaurant hidden from view that takes an effort to go to, you'd better have damn good food with damn good service!

Without holding any expectations, my wife and I decided to grab a quick dinner after doing some shopping. When we glanced over the menu, nothing seemed very appealing, just the typical Italian restaurant fare (complete with 10 versions of scallopine). We ultimately settled on getting the chopped salad, the Luca Brasi pizza, and the Whole Wheat Capellini. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by our dining experience at Frankie's. The chopped salad had a medley of flavors, and I particularly enjoyed the strong smokiness it had. The pizza and pasta were also very good. The capellini was sweet, and had a unique flavor that I had not tasted before in tomato based sauces. The Luca Brasi came with a sweet tomato sauce, which seemed to complement very well the marinated spicy red peppers scattered on the pizza. Prices are also very reasonable, around $10-15 for the pizza and pasta dishes (meat dishes are a bit more expensive, like their scallopine options). Frankie's is therefore a good dining option if you are in the area, compared to all the other lackluster establishments in the 900 building. Oh, and don't forget to get your parking validation.

There's nothing really special or really bad about this place. It's good, but average. I went and had one of their pizzas. There's a lot to choose from on the menu; my friends and I all got different things and all liked our orders. The staff is really friendly and it's a cute restaurant. Frankie's was a little less casual than I expected. I was surprised to be able to make a reservation and I was surprised to feel a little under-dressed in jeans. Maybe it was because I went during the weekday lunch hour when professionals came to eat, but that was my experience. Overall, I enjoyed the restaurant and I would go back if I tried everything else in the building and nothing was better. Not a bad place.

Upon arrival, an overly cheerful and chipper hostess approached me and asked me what my belly was hungry for. I must have just stared for too long, because she eventually explained that there are different menus for the interior and fake outside of the place. I chose inside. The menu was somewhat dull, but I decided on the sliders (without fries) and a cup of soup. This was a lunch special--add a cup of soup for $2, or something cheap like that. A few minutes later, some chef came out of the kitchen, acknowledged it was my first time here, and gave me a fried spaghetti square thing as a welcome to the restaurant. It was a nice gesture, but tasted like oil. The tomato bisque was super sweet and the put tons of mozzarella on top, so every bite I took was inundated with huge strings of cheese. It was so much so that I gave up on eating it because it just made a gross globular mess on my chin with every bite. The sliders were okay and the best part was the horseradish/blue cheese sauce. But, despite asking for no fries, they came anyway, which made me feel badly about wasting food. The service was fine, but my waitress seemed to have difficulty expressing any emotion on her face.

Frankie's is what Tucci Benucch became and is actually two different places, one a pizzaria on the patio, and another an indoor restaurant. Working in the 900 North Michigan building, I eat there weekly for lunch, always inside. I usually have either the chicken scaloppine or salmon, both piccata. It's always a delicious meal and the wait staff is friendly and efficient. If you're in the Bloomingdale's building in downtown Chicago and happen to be hankering for lunch, you just can't go wrong here.

Frankie's Scaloppine at 900 Michigan Ave is awesome. The food is served hot and cooked well. The flavors are amazing, too. The only thing that wasn't perfect was how there were green peas in everything. My friend and I both don't like peas and she was picking out all the millions in her risotto and I was doing the same with my sausage rigatoni. We would've told them not to put them in but there's no indication that there would be any from the menu description. So, despite us working for it, it was still great and we'd all go again. Next time, I'll just make sure to tell them to hold the peas!

Getting better all the time The Baked Spaghetti that I'd been thinking about since my initial visit was still on the menu and still on my mind. I decided I was going to ask out waiter about it. Indeed, it wasn't what I thought it was; instead, the sample I got the first time [and you'll get a sample after you tell your waiter it is your first time] simply didn't have any spaghetti in it, but the dish was akin to lasagna, the waiter explained, replete with strands of spaghetti. I passed and ordered a Shrimp Cocktail for an appetizer and the Handkerchief Ravioli on Marinara for my main course. I don't know how they do it, but every Lettuce Entertain You restaurant cooks shrimp so perfectly, at least in my eye. The shrimp is always bright white, meaty, and moist. I want to know how they do it. Could it be the shrimp? Or is there a secret in the cooking technique? Inquiring minds want to know. The presentation of the shrimp on ice in a big slanted lip bowl was stunning and the cocktail sauce was perfectly seasoned. I wanted the shrimp to go on forever. The Handkerchief Ravioli was also beautifully plated. The pasta was expertly cooked and firm but soft and the same time and the ricotta filling was prefect in proportion and seasoning as was the Marinara sauce. Opt for the freshly ground black pepper; it really brought something out in the filling and the pasta. I rarely order dessert, but when our waiter brought the dessert board over, my eye went immediately to the Lemon Soufflé Cheesecake. I said I wanted the cheesecake just as he was saying they didn't have it. My date ordered Vanilla Gelato which looked cheap in a tiny cup, but she proclaimed it delicious. Take a step back though: Big Frankie came out and chatted with some friends and a table of "newbies" and then approached our table and asked if we had ordered dessert. I playfully told him I'd ordered the Lemon Soufflé Cheesecake thinking he would be in on the joke. My date ordered the Gelato and he said he would go back and see how things were coming along. The minute he left, our waiter came out with the Gelato. 5 minutes later, Frankie came out with a slice of the cheesecake! They were out of the cheesecake "with the lemon curd topping", but Frankie had made a lemon and confectioners' sugar glaze and poured it over the top. I didn't mind, nor did I miss the curd [which I would think would be too much] ... the glaze was fine and the cheesecake was incredibly rich but oh-so-light. The menu has several tempting categories and dishes and a very nice selection of Italian wines, don't pass on the wine, especially if you're trying to choke down the crispy brick chicken. I was pleasantly surprised by the Chianti, so if you haven't had Chianti in a while, give it a go; it is available by the glass. Also, if you are a bread fan, take a peak under the black napkin in the wire basket on your table. The sensually chewy salt crust on the soft and billowy bread is not to be missed; green oil and shaved parmesan round out the carb offering. Get thee to Frankie's. I will see you in the dining room!

All I can say is RITA DEE's!!! Oh wow - it's delicous - fresh mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan, fresh asparagus, with an egg cracked on top - cooked on the pizza on its way from the oven to your plate as it's cut gently for you tableside. While admittedly I have had hit or miss service, the price point is right on for the perfectly prepared pizzas - I have tried at least 6 or 7 on the list by now (also try the chicken pesto - yum) and I have to be even slightly disappointed by their offerings. They are sized for one as a great lunch or snack to share while out shopping the Mag Mile. I loved Tucchi, but this is some of the best authentic pizza I've tried here in the city.

I'm no pizza connossieur - aside from Lou Malnati's which is of course, the bomb - the pizza at Frankie's is surprisingly very tasty. Yeah, who would expect from a chain in a mall....but don't let that unfairly taint Frankie's pizza product. The margherita pizza is light and ebullient, with sufficient kick to the crust and smooth tomato-y flavor. On the regular menu, I could survive on their toasted ravioli dish for days and days. Service is not as ingratiating as at other Lettuce restaurants, but the guys at the bar are usually great.

Not as good as Tucci's. I had a hard time deciding my entree because the lunch menu seemed rather limited. The prices did not seem lunch friendly. A quarter of the menu is pizza, which is from Frankie's Pizzeria. Confusing. I split the baked spaghetti (spaghetti in cube form) and chopped salad with my co worker. The chopped salad was good, but I like it better from the pizzeria. Maybe if they wanted to win their way to my heart they would dole out that balsamic vinegar, olive oil and cheese combo for dipping the bread in, like they did back in the Tucci days. I could easily and happily make a meal out of that.

I ate a late lunch there with some family on Black Friday. We were seated in a timely manner in the dining area, and ordered the chop salad while our server treated us to some dipping oil and bread - which I loved! The chop salad was delicious but a much smaller serving then when the place was Tucci Benuch. I ordered the mushroom scallopene, which was ok. I wasnt impressed with the decor...its now called Frankie's, but its more of a modern restaurant with plates hanging with local and not so local autographs of celebrities. (I didnt really get a good look of the pizzeria area.) It didnt seem to fit with the Italian menu. Overall the experience was ok but I missed the "country Italian" decor and food from Tucci.

Frankie's is yet another Lettuce Entertain You pizza shop that recently opened in Chicago. I tried it for the first time last night at a Chicago Magazine holiday event. I must say that I was really impressed upon first bite. The crust was nice and thin, and slightly bubbly on the edges. Just the way I like it! I tried the margherita and the Sardinian fennel and rosemary pizza (no sauce). Both were delicious, I can't wait to go back and try more. The fennel and rosemary pizza was something that I normally wouldn't have ordered, just based on description, but I'm so glad I was able to sample it so I can make sure to broaden my pizza horizons. Finally, a restaurant worth visiting in that building! They are practically right on top of Tucci Benucch, and I was a little confused about whether Tucci Benucch was still in operation, or if they shared some of their space.

What hit the high note with us was the outstanding service from our waitress, Sneha. Very patient and very hospitable. The food was very good as well. I had the Rigatoni w/ Sausage and Peas...outstanding. My wife had the Shrimp Risotto...so good! Finished it off with a Chocolate Amaretto cake. The prices are nice and normal here! No sticker-shock. And you get a decent portion as well! We remember the restaurant when it was Tucci Bennuch. As far as decor, we can't say we are really crazy about it...it's OK, but the plate thing on the wall....well...we thought it dresses it down a little too much, leaving the walls a little too bland. Maybe if it were only in one section rather than the whole place. I still highly recommend them for food quality and service. Give them a try!

Malls suck. BUT, Frankie's Pizza will keep me coming back to the mall. My leariness of having to endure eating in a mall where I worked for nearly 8 years of my life (well, in my prior retail industry life) in search of the perfect thin crust pizza was more than I could bear - or so I thought. Eventually, curiousity got the better of me and I traversed to the mall last weekend. Frankie's was so worth it. The thin crust pizza was so delicate and yet very tasty. I enjoyed the potato and rosemary version and had I been hungrier, would have tried one of the sardinian pizzas (described as thin, cracker crust type pizzas with no sauce). Alas, I was stuffed on my one pizza (well, actually in pizza terms, it was my third of the day as I had been on a pizza research mission since lunch time), but I am looking forward to returning this weekend again.

Tried this out on Sunday. Wasn't super busy, waitress was polite but very rushed. pepperoni pizza was spot on (. The Buffala looked amazing too but was only available by the slice. Fresh squeezed lemonade was a dud, but that was the only downer. We will be back for sure!

My friend and I go into the city about once a month, we used to try other places but always kept coming back to Frankie's. We love the garlic spread they give out, and the lunch specials. My personal favorite the Baked Spaghetti, Chopped Salad and the Filet Sliders. The staff is always pleasant and its nice and quick.

This is the "outdoor" sister restaurant of Frankie's Scaloppine. It's not really outdoors, just in the courtyard area of the mall right outside Scaloppine. In my opinion, go here only if you want the pizza. I've tried other things on the menu and the only thing that is good is their Neopolitan-style pizzas. If you want pasta or anything else, just go to Scaloppine. The seating is tight here because there's only a limited amount of space. They do have really cheap lunch specials and keep in mind that pizzas take about 15-20 minutes to make, so make sure you have enough time to wait.

Dirty unsanitary glassware. Don't go here. Used to be ok, but is pretty bad now. Institutional type italian food with managers who could care less about the customers satisfaction. Try Francesca on Chestnut for a much better meal and experience. Stay away from this mall restaurant!

Frankie's Fifth Floor pizzeria is a " lettuce entertain you" restaurant. This place is set up like a fast food eatery. It's good thin crust pizza. The pizza crust it's like a soft thin french bread. The sauce is tasty,a little tangy and the cheese is nice. It's not super cheesy layered pizza. I have come to terms with that thin crust pizza is a novelty food in Chicago. Chicago's idea of thin crust is pricey gourmet food I suppose. A slice of thin crust pizza is $3.99 and I believe the sausage was $4.99. The pizza was good and I don't mind a treat of good thin crust pizza and there. If you want a whole pizza it is $25 for about 6 large slices. I'd recommend this pizza to anyone who is looking for some good thin crust pizza.

This place is so good. The decor and ambiance you completely forget you're in a shopping mall. The bread and olive oil on the table is very good. The chicken pesto sandwich was so good and flavorful. The lunch combos are a great deal as well.

The 3 stars are for the view and ambience, not the food. There is a huge window overlooking Michigan Ave with a great view below. My wife ordered the chicken and pesto pizza and we expected a nice Neapolitan style pie but what we got was a dry, bland pizza. The pesto sauce was ok but the tomato sauce and chicken were very bland. Service was great however.

Well it's a LEYE so you know it's going to be decent. I like to stop here for lunch or an early dinner after shopping my ass off. Expect to see lots of tourists and crabby, tired women with lots of shopping bags. Their chopped salad is good and you can't wrong with any of the pizzas. My fav has arugula on top. They also have one with a cracked egg...yumm. They serve brunch now too. I'll have to check that out. They also have one extremely hot waiter so four stars it is!

Nice place to head to after hours of shopping. Decent price point and the food is pretty good. My friend and I shared 2 pizzas. I chose the potato and Arugula pizza and she chose the mushroom. I love the crust of these brick oven pizzas. Next time i plan on exploring there over entrees.

I'm writing a review about their quick takeaway pizza outside of the restaurant. It's delicious! If you are in a hurry and only want a couple of slices fast, this is totally worth it. I've tried the mushroom pizza, which put me in heaven because of the truffle oil they drizzle on it at the end. I've also tried the peperoni pizza, which had some jalapenos on it. This pizza was decent, but I wasn't much of a jalapeno fan. I will say that the hostess was a little confusing. We wanted to just grab a slice and I couldn't tell what she was telling us to do. We decided we wanted to sit outside the restaurant and eat our one slice so we were stuck in a little corner eating. I guess it could be worse! Oh by the way, tea is something like $3 here. A bit spendy for generic tea!

Well, Frankie's unfortunately has some details stacked against it from the beginning. #1 issue: it's in a mall. Already I'm thinking food court quality, but luckily Frankie's was more than that. Sadly, food wise, it wasn't that much more. I had the baked ziti as my meal. Good amount of food for the price, didn't have much flavor, and a little too hot when served . However, the baked ravioli appetizer and the tiramisu were phenomenal. I also tried my friend's butternut squash ravioli. Really good, but way too sweet for me to have a full plate of it. Overall, a good experience, but not the best food. Favorite part of the night? Our hostess Shannon was amazing! Definitely the best by far!

Not good. The only thing that was good was my Italian margarita. 10 min wait for water. Other guests had bread and oil and it took us asking for bread and then they brought it with no oil and then we had to ask for oil. Our soups were brought out and they were not even hot and after we ate half of the soup we were offered fresh ground pepper. Lol It's been a hysterical experience!

Great wine list! Fabulous bread. SALADS ARE SOOOOO GOOOD! I had the tuna salad and it was great - not too heavy but by no means skimpy. Dressings were incredible also - I had the lemon and Dijon vinaigrette. Wish they bottled that stuff. Took a while for the server to notice us... I mean, a LOOONNGGGG time. And we had to ask her for EVERYTHING. No wait, we had to ask someone to ask her for EVERYTHING. She was totally checked out and it was annoying because we really wanted to just grab a quick lunch before we hit the Thanksgiving weekend sales at Bloomingdales. Other than that, I love Frankie's! Great place to grab lunch while embracing consumerism at all the awesome shopping at the Bloomingdales building :)

Frankie's was my reliable go to Italian in the city. I worked nearby at the Hancock building so many after-work dinners were had here. The service is awesome, very prompt and I think the food is great. I felt the wines can get a bit pricey and its a bit small so it can get too cozy with other diners for my comfort, but I would recommend to anyone looking for a place to eat in the area.

I love Frankie's. It's hard to find a simple, relatively inexpensive sit-down meal in Streeterville, and Frankie's is it! A Lettuce Entertain You restaurant, Frankie's used to be Tucci Bennuch, home to the best minestrone in Chicago (really!). That said, Frankie's has some pretty darned delicious pizzas, with perfectly chewy crust. I often order the margherita, though you can't really go wrong with the pizza options at this spot. The wait staff is quick, professional, efficient. And while this restaurant is inside a shopping mall, it could definitely be worse! The outdoor "terrace" is a quasi-winter garden, situated beneath a giant round window that overlooks Michigan Avenue. Even on the gloomiest of winter days, Frankie's dining room is well-lit and comfortable. I very much recommend Frankie's if you need a break from a busy day of shopping or work and find yourself with limited casual dining options.

If you haven't tried their pizza recently, its definitely worth a visit. As is the takeaway counter for pizza during lunch. Get with a side salad and feel healthier :)

This was a tough one to rate. Server was great, $10 Montepulciano wine was good and a bargain. I had the chicken pesto pizza..it was just OK. The Caprese was a complete waste...a clod of cheese and a spoonful of goofy tomatoes. Kids had chicken fingers...kinda of small portion.

While other items (minestrone, lasagna, chicken limone, chopped salad, calamari and desserts) are delicious, the pizza needs improvement. It's a too thick crust, masquerading as thin, topped with bland tomato sauce, scant cheese, and meager toppings. Go for the lasagna! And if you are in a hurry, order it from their carry-out window, and take it home with some of their wonderful, crusty bread.

I stopped here after seeing my Plastic Surgeon in the same building...what a pleasant experience. The individual pizzas were very flavorful and the service was very friendly. I've been back multiple times and leave VERY satisfied every time! I like a place with a great view and a nice place to people watch. When seated you are immediately gifted some hard breadsticks and a garlic butter! I start out with the Four Cheese Toasted Ravioli and it could have eaten a dozen of them! I'm also a sucker for a great Pizza Margherita and it is perfect for the size serving. I love a crunchy crust and a soft center! Plus, if you are a meatball fan, then try the meatball appetizer (with or without Ricotta).

The way to spread holiday cheer is to smile, be friendly, make us feel welcome? Not by the what felt like bothersome 'tude we received when we asked for a table for 2. You're going to roll your eyes at my mom? Only I can do that (not so much, but at least I'm related to her). Our wait was not that terrible. We stopped here for an early dinner thinking we'd beat any sort of Michigan Ave. tourist wait time. Nope. Word of advice: ask not to get seated outside at the table wedged between a big ass potted plant and tree and the next table. Unless, you really like to have your table stuck your chest while you eat. Aaannnddd breathe. We didn't feel like changing to another only because we had waited some time for a table. Food took awhile, but thank goodness for free wifi. My mom checked her emails, etc., and I did the same and checked out Yelp for other places we should have gone. ;-) Oh yeah, the food? It was pretty good. My mom enjoyed her tri-colored pasta with parmasean cream sauce and Italian sausage. My risotto special was expensive but worth the wait.

2.5 stars While spending the day working off site in the area I decided to give this place a shot. Well, I didn't really plan on giving this place a shot; to be perfectly honest I had a total brain fart and thought this was where the food court in the Nordstrom structure was. Too lazy to go somewhere else and having a taste for something other than Potbelly I gave this place a shot. I really don't see the point of the Scallopini versus the Pizzeria portions of the place. What I was told was that the Pizzeria (the part exposed to the mall) doesn't serve pasta, but the inside portion does. Mmk, seems silly to have two places with two names for that little differentiation in menu, but whatevs. They had a combo lunch special, but nothing really struck my fancy on it so I went with a pizza. Prices were a little pricey for a simple lunch, but then again it's a Michigan Avenue tourist magnet so I wasn't surprised. After inquiring about the pizzas I went with the Pizza Alla Checca (roma tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and garlic). I passed on the Sardinian pizza because they were sauce-less only to find the Alla Checca was too. Lesson: take the menu very literally, if sauce isn't listed as a pizza ingredient it's not implied. The lack of sauce made it seem more like a cheesy bread than a pizza. The pizza wasn't bad, just not memorable. The tomatoes didn't seem ripe enough to provide a nice sweet tomatoey flavor and it was light on the garlic. For $9.25 the portion could've been bigger, I can get a Giordano's personal deep dish for less. They really play dirty pool with their mini desserts. I think repeatedly checking the time while waiting for my check saved me from an all-out dessert assault. See they come to your table with a tray of all the desserts and tell you about them complete with hand gestures (like a Barker's Beauty on the Price is Right). It's hard to say no to a yummy dessert put right in your face - no fair! Service was friendly, but frenetic. I wasn't sure who my server was since two people tried to take my order. I also had to resort to chomping on my ice when I couldn't find someone to refill my water until my plates were cleared. And even then the bus boy took my dirty silverware off my plate and put them on the bare table, wth?? Bottom line: Not bad, not great - maybe the pasta's better. Expect to pay tourist prices.

This is a great lunchtime spot for anyone working in the area- there's a great soup/salad deal that you just can't pass up! My first time here, I had the tomato bisque soup and the chicken parm. The soup- omg! Probably the best tomato bisque I've ever had. Thick, creamy, wonderful consistency, great smooth tomato flavor. Thick croutons are floating on top with freshly melted mozzarella cheese. It's honestly perfection! The chicken parm was pretty good, although I could have used a little more flavor in the breeding. It was a good sized piece of chicken pounded nice and thin, with just the right amount of cheese. The portion size is great- I had leftovers to take home. On my second visit, I had the tomato bisque again (I die!) as part of the lunchtime deal- I also had a filet mignon slider. This was SO GOOD!!! the bun had a buttery, garlicky spread slathered on it before it was lightly toasted. The filet was cooked perfectly and had nice flavor- it was topped with gorgonzola and caramelized onions. Thoroughly this lunch, and for $8, you can't go wrong!

Been to Frankie's at least 30 times over the past 3 years. Visited again this weekend for the first time in 6 months. Here's what you should know... -Parking is great. Enter after 5pm and leave by 2am, and its $5 with validation from dinner. You can't park anywhere near that part of the Mag Mile for that price. -You can eat inside the the main dining room for a fancier feel, or in their patio area (which is still indoors.) The food and prices are identical, but at lunch time the bread they serve is different. Small detail - but they serve some very yummy crackers in the bread basket with a delicious flavored butter if you sit the patio area for lunch. -The service here either makes or breaks your meal. We used to have the same server when we were going frequently. She left, and since then we have found our meal consistency varies greatly as does the service. As a result, we don't eat here as much anymore. -Love the Chicken Parm, but I get pasta with alfredo versus normal spaghetti. Every time we come one of us gets the Baked Spaghetti. Definitely our favorite dish. Just ask for a middle piece so it does not have burnt corners. Pizza is good, but not enough cheese. And they do Filet Mignon surprisingly well. Tomato Bisque might best I have had anywhere - and its a soup I try anywhere and everywhere it is offered. For dessert, we love the deep dish cookie and ice cream. -We like Lettuce Entertain You restaurants - so we enjoy getting points for our meals here. -Big Frankie is often in the restaurant and mingles with tables.

Went here with out-of-town friends and this was a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant we picked because one of them had a gift voucher. We walked up and ask the hostess the difference between the indoor seating and outdoor seating. She said they're exactly the same. She left then and another server/host came in - who said pizzas are only outside and everything else is inside. We wanted to have the pizza option open so we said we would eat outside. After another server almost seated us there he said pastas could not be served outside. So then we asked him again to clarify and he said inside we could order everything including pizza! The inside server was terrible! She was mean and kept ignoring us! She didn't even bring us bread. We requested some and she said she would get some when the next lot come out of the oven. Long time later there was still no bread, no server, no service. When we finally got her to take an order, she said they were out of bread for the night and won't be making more... After that we're looking around and saw a few newly seated tables being brought, guess what, BREAD!! And now the reason bread is so important to me is that by the baking of bread, I ascertain their overall cooking style. And I don't like the lies!! The food took forever to come out and the server just completely started ignoring us for the rest of the night. A different server finally brought our food out. The food was better, which is why the 3 stars not 1 star. We got the handkerchief ravioli, margharita pizza, and another pizza with herbs and olive oil. The food was promising and the 4 of us liked that part of the meal. Haven't quite made up my mind whether I'll be going back here or not, but here's my first experience there in plain and simple words.

I suggest that you get food to-go from here as the service blows but some of the dishes are fantastic. When we got to the restaurant, I went up to the hostess I told her my name and with sarcastic look, she said I know who you are - the place was kinda dead. We sat down and at first the waitress was very attentive but it went down hill from there. We ordered apps first and then they came, we were ready to order dinner but the waitress was nowhere to be found. We ate the apps - I recommend the pizzas and the toasted raviolis. Caesar salad lacked dressing and my testicles are larger than their meatballs. We finished the apps and still didn't see the waitress so we actually thought we ordered dinner - but we hadn't. I had to ask another server to get her - the place was NOT busy. We ordered. I excused myself from the table to order a dessert for my gf's birthday. Couldn't find the waitress. Went up to the hostess and she was texting. UGHHH. But I managed to get through to her. Dinner arrived. My veal parm was okay. Very thin and there was too much cheese so the crunch was lost. After dinner the waitress couldn't be found again...not busy. She came by and asked about desert. Thankfully she gave me the signal that the hostess gave her the message. The tiramisu was great - not too strong in the espresso dept. It was almost like a sweet and soft cheesecake. Again get it to-go!!!!

Some new plaster, some new drywall, a few new decorations, menu tweaks, a lighter atmosphere, and now Frankie's Scaloppine takes over where Tucci Bennuch left off. This location remains in the Lettuce Entertain You domain, and the interiors are nicer and less cluttered than the old Tucci Bennuch. So far, few staples from the old menu are still around, though the menu has changed postively to offer lighter fare and new scaloppine-style dishes. Though I had rigatoni pasta with peas (tasty, hearty around $11), all the standard Italian fare is here and at similar prices to Tucci Bennuch. The one new concept is a "cookie cart"--a fun way to get you to splurge a few more dollars. If you want more of a cafe feel with personal pizzas and nice antipasti, try the Lettuce Entertain You sister restaurant next door: Frankie's Pizza Kitchen.

Frankie's has the WORST service ever. The ONLY reason it stays in business is because it's in the Bloomingdales building which lacks other options for real food restaurants (sorry, but Potbelly and a brunch-y Oaktree do not count, and King Cafe closes at 7 pm). Tonight, I gave Frankie's a fourth try. I ordered a cup of soup online and it took over 30 MINUTES. For a CUP of soup. And when I got it, it was cold. This restaurant will no longer get my business. I feel like every time I give it a try, I'm disappointed and angry. Last time, they got my soup completely wrong altogether. The time before, I had to wait nearly 10 minutes at the pick-up window, even though they said it would be ready when I phoned in my order 25 minutes in advance. The first time I ever went to Frankie's, I sat inside and ate at the restaurant. The worst service yet again - slow/never refilling water or bread (even bringing out the bread I had to ask for it 3 times), got my salad order wrong (SHOCKING), never asked how our food was, slow to bring the check. I would NEVER recommend this place, and despite the fact that I have to work late and eat in the building sometimes, I will NEVER choose Frankie's again. This is not a one time fluke; it has happened EVERY time I have eaten from there. If you don't work in the building and are thinking about choosing Frankie's as a dine-in choice, don't. It is located inside of a MALL and in no way resembles/offers the ambience of a true restaurant. Plus, you will probably have the slowest, most unattentive, rude service from the lazy work staff.

We hosted about 10 clients at Frankie's last week. Thre were about 20 of us total. They arranged a consolidated menu and we were able to pay a fixed price per person for drinks. the food was good. We had a choice of Spaghetti with meatballs, Chicken Parmesan and a scapolini dish. I had the Spaghetti and I gotta say it wasn't bad the meatballs were cooked properly and were full of flavor. We had two dedicated servers who we knew the menu and were very prompt. They did an awesome job and were really quick with the drinks. All in all not bad. Definitely not the best Italian in town but a pretty good alternative if you are in the area.

Dirty unsanitary glassware. Don't go here. Used to be ok, but is pretty bad now. Institutional type italian food with managers who could care less about the customers satisfaction. Try Francesca on Chestnut for a much better meal and experience. Stay away from this mall restaurant!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
