I heard great things about Favela's but it wasn't until I stopped in for dinner that I felt ripped off and upset with this place. I went with my sister and my mom. When we got there we didn't know whether to sit or wait to be seated. My mom had asked and the woman at the cash register told us to wait for the table to be cleaned, mind you it was not that busy. There were plenty of empty tables and they should have been cleaned when they were cleared. We were not given chips when we were seated. The menu's were dirty. We were given styrofoam cups for our horchata. When our food came out we had to ask for utensils and salsa. The food was okay. The waitresses never checked up on us. My mom had to ask for us to get refills. It was a horrible experience especially because we only went because of the hype of this new restaurant. The WORST part and the reason I took the time to write this review was that for the three of us I paid $47. My mom, being a wonderful Catholic woman left a tip BUT we will not go back.

A variety of Classic Mexican dishes. Try the Gorditas-very tasty. The ceviche appetizers were plentiful & fresh. I had the grilled Pulpo en Ajo n butter-served with a salad, rice. Very good. Tortillas are hecho a Mano.-Handmade. The guacamole was abundant & very fresh. Try the jamaica drink-nice and strong. Great service and very accommodating. Come hungry.

Love there avocado salsa verde, so spicy and delicious mmm I love it ! I always get there green enchiladas and I love how they have the option either having your chicken grilled or boiled... I choose grilled! Super delish! They ladies there always look cute and presentable, with matching shirts and I've noticed different color a day? Cuties!

I've been here twice, once when they first opened and once in the last 2 months, both for dinner with my family. They changed something for the better because my chicken flautas were perfectly crispy and the guacamole was delicious.

For starters, I went here thinking it was a pizza restaurant (it was before...lol) Seeing that I was already in the parking lot I decided to check it out. I agree with the other reviewer stating that the atmosphere is somewhat "clubby" but I was busy on Facebook to let it annoy me. I ended up ordering the gorditas and I will say this, they are pretty close to the gorditas that my mom makes. That is how good they are! This is a nice change of pace seeing that there are so many taquerias in the area offering nothing but tacos, burritos, and tortas. Their hot salsa is the way I like it. HOT! If you don't like hot salsa, don't eat it...lol The service is really fast and very friendly. I will need to bring my mom here to see if the gorditas have her seal of approval.

Nice location. Went once quick to buy tacos and a gordita wasn't a big fan of them. But this time we checked out yelp and saw photos of the pulpo al gusto and looked good so we got that and filete relleno and both were very good! Great BIG portions. It's byob we took a bottle of wine but they had no wine glasses so they gave us regular plastic cups. Not cool we took rest of the bottle home. Loved the festive chips!!!

I love their burgers, the portion is huge as both my son and I ate off of one. I've also had tacos de asada and al pastor. I'm picky when in it comes to al pastor but this one was delish. The steak burrito is also great. My husband loves the carne a la tampiqueña. One thing though they have delivery yet every time I've called they don't have a driver, so that's a big minus.

I had the steak torta. It was delicious. Great bread , good crunch to the crust. Also there is an avocado salsa verde on the table that was delicious. I would definitely come back. Great customer service also. First photo was of the carne asada torta. Second of the avocado salsa verde

This is the only place outside of la comarca lagunera that I've been able to find a Durango style hamburger. Amazing with a thin beef party, cheese, ham, bacon and all the fixens. The staff is friendly but sometimes you have to get there attention to come back after the meal is served but overall a great place. One day I'll have to try some if their other food I suspect it will be as good as the burger.

Favelas is hit or miss depending on what you order. Although I've never sat in to eat the place has a modern look and looks like a fun place to dine in and BYOB is always a plus.. I've ordered for pickup 3 times and for delivery twice and 3 out of the 5 they have messed up my order in some type of way. Wether it was forgetting to pack everything for my pick up order and charging me for it or delivering an incomplete order without charging me for the missing item (and won't forget to mention over cooking my food or including a hard old piece of bread instead of tortillas with my caldo de camaron). The caldo de camaron is awesome , and the el presidente platillo is one of my faves comes with bacon wrapped shrimp! how can you pass on bacon wrapped shrimp!. I've also had the humongous Favela burger which can feed 4 people which is ok but i found the top bun to be a little dry and almost 3 inches thick (too much bread and they should have thrown the top bun on the grill for a minute) also had a torta which also seems to have too much bun on top kinda dry and crumbly. overall decent place some stuff better than others but the average things that should be on point are not so to each his own give it a try

This is a pretty decent place. It's not the best ever but it's not too bad. Steak taco is really great. Chicken taco not so great. Spicy stuff is super spicy! I kind of don't get the club atmosphere they are going for here with thumping dance hits playing while you eat tacos...maybe it works on the weekend or at night with a different crowd but that's not really what I want to hear at lunch on a Tuesday. If you ask them to turn it down they will, so that's good.

Good food. Good customer service. I'm giving 4 starts because the sauce used for the chips is too spicy, I like spicy but this is just too much and has no flavor.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
