The food isn't so good, but it's a great place to grab a beer.

Great, spacious, vibe and old-world look with dark wood panelling, and wonderful to go to before or after a meal at La Scarola.

MAN I love me some Emmits! And I had to write this review to upgrade my star rating- the girls and I were here all night Saturday- we had intended to start off our post-dinner drinking there and continue on to greener pastures, but never left, and we ended up closing it down. In short, I love Emmits because: 1) I am a total Guinness snob and they pour one of the best pints in town, 2) We're in our early 30's and the crowd and music were right up our alley- not too young, not too old. 3) This place never fails to deliver on very good-looking men. Definitely a bonus.

love this spot! most recently, i came here after i realized my boisterous crowd of friends was going to be a bit too much for the swank bar setting across the street a piccolo sogno. the atmosphere is cozy, servers are friendly, food is great, and everything about it is super comfortable. whether you're looking for a quiet booth or a gathering of highboys for a bunch of friends, you're sure to find a spot at emmits!

Kitchen was disappointing. Draft beer was stale. Jukebox was annoying. Paramount Room or New Line Tavern are better choices in this neighborhood.

Nice place to go to for a beer, though they do have food here too, so you can eat as well. Lots of tables and stools, as well as booths, so one can sit down and enjoy a few drinks with friends and/or co-workers. This is the only place where they serve Guiness draught with a clover on the head - a nice touch! Otherwise, they do have a good selections of beers, so you won't be disappointed. A few TVs are around for the games, and is inconveniently located on the southeast corner of Grand and Milwaukee, despite the fact that intersection intersects with Grand, Milwaukee, and Halsted - parking is street parking, but it is doable, especially along Union, Milwaukee, and Ohio streets, all within a block's walk; but, mind the permit and snow route signs. Trivia = Ocean's 11 was filmed here with George Clooney and Matt Damon - they sat on a table nearby the stairs leaving up to the "private party" section. Clooney recruited Damon as the 11th guy but Damon was the rookie. Place does get a bit crowded, especially after 9:30 pm, but its not unreasonably crowded.

My first time was tonight. I dig this place. I was raised on the South Side and even though this sure isn't the South Side- it might as well be. It's not a melting pot of a place, but it is friendly, clean and decent with stiff pours and a full menu of bar chow. I came in with a friend who knows the owner (thanks, Ronnie!) and felt so welcome that I'll definitely be back. Oh yeah- there definitely are single guys there. Firefighters, even!

This is one of those belly up shot and a beer kind of places. Therefore, I love it. The decor is very Irish bar, but not "purchased at the bar warehouse" Irish bar with lots of neat historical items on the walls. My favorite, the Backdraft movie poster? Hm, okay. The food is really good, especially for bar food. I had their chef salad and it was delicious. Normally used to limpy lettuce and strange, half frozen vegetables for a bar salad. The waitresses are remediately friendly, but prompt with your brew...and that's pretty much what matters.

I think I'll have to go at a better time. I went on a Saturday after just having dinner at La Scarola and was killing time before a show at the Chicago Theatre. There was more employees than customers and the employees were basically hanging out with each other than really tending anybody. The bartender said it's usually busy after 5:00 pm when everybody gets off of work or later at night on the weekends. I think my timing wasn't so good.

we trekked here after a one brick volunteer event through the slush and snow and cold, only to find them closed after our leader had confirmed lunch reservations for 18 people a couple of days earlier. So we had to trek elsewhere in the cold and slush and snow. Not cool to confirm and then be closed.

I just celebrated my birthday at Emmits on Friday, March 16th had a great time. One of the best spirited Irish Pub's to go and start the St Pat's Festivities or just to hang out with friends. My husband and I always go to Emmits for my birthday just to have a couple of drinks and hear the Irish bagpipers. This time we celebrated with family and Chris the manager of Emmits made it a better birthday for me. He made sure we were well attended we never had to run downstairs for drinks he helped me with my food order which was the best, those home made potato skins wow the are good and so were the raviolis and buffalo wings. Chris made sure my party went smooth he always responded to my e-mails and answered every question no matter what time of day it was. Alyssa our waitress was also great she kept us well attended never forgot about us since we were in the upstairs area which was also very nice and cozy. She is a great waitress with a big smile all the time. Thank you Chris and Alyssa for making it a Great Time!!!!!!!

For a good watering hole after work hours, dont look any further. Emmits is walking distance from West Loop and Near North offices (if you are the types that don't mind stretching your legs after a long day of sedentary work life). Good beer, good prices and decent food with very good service. It is a good spot to hang out with co-workers, ex-co-workers who still managed to remain friends and friends in general - grab a drink or two... or five! Chill out and enjoy.

A good Irish pub in my neighborhood. It's fairly large, has a laid back crowd, and serves good Irish/British beer. The crowd seems to be mostly locals, maybe except for people who got scared off by the Funky Buddha lounge across the street. It isn't pretentious. It isn't full of tourists or suburbanites. Maybe slightly hipster but not much at all. I wouldn't say the place stands out above all the other bars, but it's a fine place for a good time.

  • Amy L.

Went here on a Saturday night, it was crowded but not overly crowded since we were able to find a small table in the back after only 15 minutes of standing around. Drink prices were reasonable and the customers all seemed to range from mid 20's to early 40's. I was not a huge fan of what the crowd was playing on the jukebox that night, but that isn't their fault. Our waitress was very nice, but she kept forgetting us so we had to wait awhile for drinks. The bartebders there were working hard though and fast

Best fish & chips ever! And one of the owners Kevin was very accommodating, we had our 91 yr old grandmother& he went above & beyond to find us a table during a busy happy hour! Also took the time to tell us some history & fun facts. Also our server Ashley was awesome!

Went here on St Patty's day (which fell on a Tuesday this year) even though I spent Friday and Saturday celebrating with the rest of the drunks in this city. I hadn't eaten before coming here, fortunately they were serving corned beef sandwiches , burgers and a variety of other food. The owner of the bar was very friendly, he even bought my friends and I a pint of guinness! Definitely a fan! I Will be coming back here!

My good friend's relative partially owns this place, so I should start out with something less than glowing. I know a lot of people who hate this place. Although it's never bothered me, this place does not attract a very young crowd like any good Irish-styled pub. It's a lot of cops and firemen. So don't go there looking or the hip, young scenesters of Chicago. Although many of my friends would be considered hipsters, I still feel totally at home at Emmits. I have to admit, it was a lot more fun when my friend worked there and we'd stay after closing sampling whatever new beer they had that month. But I still like going back there and relaxing.

You just can't get let down at Emmitt's. Can't. Well, the unaimed arrow never misses. And, I don't need much. All I ask for is beer. I know it sounds simple but you'll see my point. You don't have wait for a beer here. Even when it's busy, the bartenders seek out your puppy dog faces when your drink is getting a little low. And, by the way, winking works. It does. Just ask Tommy. The crowd is mixed, but in a good. You could walk in there and meet your next love, an old high school buddy, or your old high school teacher. And, not to forget, you never know when you just may run into George Clooney in the 100th Ocean's movie. And, I guess if Matt Damen came it too, that would be cool. All is cool and ok as long as I have my beer. Thanks, Tommy.

3.5 stars. Pretty decent bar. Much larger than I expected. Stopped in when Richard's got too crowded next door. Service was a little slow, but the bar has a nice look and pours a good pint. A big fan of the multi level loft style bars.

This place is a known resort for pickpocketing, if you know what i mean. Actually love the food -- terrific and authentic Irish menu (my German/Italian grandparents are turning in their grave). Notice, however, the music is quite loud everywhere, and thus, bring a brave voice, and be sure to have something to say. Staff are cool, usually. And. They pour an excellent Guinness.

  • Kelly R.

I love Emmit's. I think it's my favorite dive bar in the city and now that it's sans smoke, I'll probably be here even more. The staff is always awesome and the crowd is usually pretty cool too. I've never eaten here but the beer is good and cold and reasonably priced.

This is a classic Irish bar. I heard that it's very well-known in Chicago as being a "real" Irish bar. I went here about a month ago with some co-workers. The place was quite busy on a Friday and was really fun. Luckily we were able to grab a table. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. I ordered a lemon drop martini... and they didn't know how to make it! Haha guess it's not that surprising since most get beers. But they looked it up and it tasted really good! We also ordered nachos and chips w/spinich dip. Both were really good though the nachos were a little bit too cheezy for my taste. I would recommend this place for a happy hour or just to hang out on a Saturday afternoon. But I do have to say that the surrounding area is not the greatest! Be careful when you leave.

Emmits is a friendly place. The service is quick and there is an appetizer for everyone. The bar seems to be well-stocked. I went there recently for a bon voyage party and it was packed yet I didn't feel annoyed. No long lines for the ladies room. This is probably because the guy to girl ratio is like 3 to 1. Single ladies, read that again. 3 to 1, easy. My single gfs were digging that!

  • Joe S.

I hit this bar two or three times a year. Always a rocking good time. Good music, good people, good beer, good times. Now that Chicago is smoke free this moves close to the top of my list. I used to hate coming home from this bar and reaking of smoke, but now I don't have to worry about it. The upstairs is super cool too with low ceilings and a nice bar.

  • Meredith D.

Emmit's pub is great! The service is always wonderful no matter how busy the night. It is well ventilated. The beer selection and menu are decent. They are always playing great music. Emmit's has never let me down, however, this place for some reason provokes me to take a plethora of shots, haha. If it was a cool enough bar for George Clooney to meet Matt Damen at in Ocean's Eleven, it's cool enough for me!

  • Cat B.

I love this place because it is a reliable and consistent place to meet up with people or watch a game...it is getting four stars because it gets crowded often and it is difficult for people to move around without slamming into people or stepping on people's toes. That and the bartenders are not attentive and their drinks are weak. Definitely stick to beer or straight liquor if you want to make sure you get enough alcohol for your buck. Went here Saturday night to celebrate a friend's birthday (Yeah you Daniel W.). Great place for people to meet up and caters to all ages. Compared to all of the clubs in this hood, it is nice to walk into a place where you can wear a t-shirt and flip-flops on a Saturday night. Great location, ample cabs in the neighborhood as well as the blue line, grand bus, Milwaukee bus, etc. I have had their food before, which is good, but basic bar food. Definitely not why I go there, but not a bad menu to order from. Good music...I didn't know about the "Secret" bathroom as Daniel W. mentioned, but I guess we all know now! It pays to be a yelper!

Classic neighborhood Irish bar with a friendly staff, friendly guests and classic (and good) bar food. Great beer selection, perfectly poured. Bar tenders are attentive in a good way and seem to be having a great time. Cozy booths, an interesting upstairs level and decor that looks like it evolved rather than coming from some master warehouse. Wouldn't change a thing.

Great atmosphere. Friendly crowd and great service. I have been here over fifty times and have never walked away disappointed. Look on the board for drink and food specials. It's tough to beat the 30 cent wings (they're jumbo) on on Sundays. The burgers are tasty too (get the cajun kick). If there's space you and all your friends can pull the tables together in the center of the room. In conclusion Emmits is really a neighborhood bar that has that type of feel to it but it still attracts all types of crowds.

  • Karen M.

Met up at Emmit's for the first time last night for a friend's birthday party and it was surprisingly a cool bar. We've lived within 5 minutes of the place for the past 2 years but never thought to stop in as it looks like a hole in the wall. Inside there is a fun laid-back vibe with good music and wide selection of beers on tap. They have an upper floor for parties and such which can hold up to 50 people. Complements to the waitresses and waiters which are extremely attentive even when the place is packed.

    (4)
  • maeve P.

Yeah Emmits is good stuff. It has a good selection of beers and although its usually pretty crowded on the weekends, its not uncomfortably packed. I like it a lot better now that you can't smoke in the bar anymore (well in any bar in chicago since the ban passed), its just nice to go home not reeking of cigs.

This was the first ever bar I went to when I moved to Chicago 4 years ago. I used to go there to meet friends and girls because I literally didn't have a friend in the city. Immediately I was greeted by great, friendly bartenders and the owner Ronny who bought me a drink or more. They showed me hospitality and made me feel at home. The bar is located on the very busy intersection of Grand, Milwaukee, and Chicago. It is directly across the street from Buda Lounge. The neighborhood is very yuppie, but the bar always attracts a nice diverse crowd of suits, sports fans, artsy folk, and beautiful women. Everyone feels at home here and is welcome. Emmits is a medium sized place with a huge beautiful wooden bar. The place has history from being in such movies as Oceans 11, Backdraft, and Playboy photo shoots. Another cool feature is the photo albums on all the tables of good times past. I am in three of the albums with some of my friends and other drunks. If you are in the neighborhood, this is a sure thing any night. St. Pats Day is very well represented there, as well as a good place to watch Chicago sports on the big screen projector. Anytime a year you may be shocked to discover that an Irish bagpipe crew has snuck in to play a few Irish tunes, standing on the bar going at it. After you have had like 23 beers, 5 dudes in kilts jammin real loud on bagpipes rocks! Little know secret- the bathrooms are small so when the bar is busy you may find yourself in a long line waiting. There are secret bathrooms downstairs that not a lot of people know about. Don't tell no one or else it will not be a secret very much longer.

Went to Emmitt's awhile back and had a great time. I enjoyed everything about it except that it was really smoky (this was pre-january no-smoking ban). They had a good selection of drinks/beers, waitresses to come to the booths, it wasn't too packed, the prices were standard, and they had good music playing. And the best part is that its right down the street from me so I will definitely be back.

This pub is legendary in Chicago. It has been around a long time because they are friendly and have good service, food and drinks. They filmed a scene from here and the pub was mentioned in the film Oceans 11.

This is a great laid-back, low-key place. Just a good 'ole Irish Pub with great friendly people. Always seems to have a good crowd. I have been there several times after work and into the late night. I've had some of their munchies and especially like the mini burgers. Oh yeah and there are TVs to watch the games too.

    (5)
  • Michael K.

Nice little bar... Very comfortable from the first time you walk in. Attentive wait-staff, jukebox, relaxed atmosphere, etc. I have not tried the food, so I can't speak to that. The place has a feel that it was here long before you showed up and will be here long after you are gone. And that is a good thing.

    (4)
  • Ren H.

I love this bar! Its nothing extraordinary but its one of those places that always has a great vibe going on. The bartenders are super friendly and the people who go there are normal and not annoying. The food is actually pretty good too, for a bar. Its refreshing to find a cool bar thats not directly in the heart of downtown!

Great place! And I'm not just saying that because my former co-worker's husband owns it. :) We went there after work once and it was a great time. Friendly staff, great beer selection, good munchies! :o)

This is a great neighborhood/corner bar. I loved having almost complete control over the jukebox. The crowd was a complete mix, something you don't get very often. They have my favorite cider on tap. That alone would give it 3 stars. We ate there, and the food was good! Decent bar fare, and there were a lot of options on the menu. Tvs everywhere, so you can get a glimpse from wherever you are sitting. It also never got too crowded. Loved that. There was good people watching and it was very easy to get a drink. We had great service. I recommend Emmit's for a game night or just a place to hang out with friends!

  • K M.

I went here by accident once after getting off the Blue line a little too early. Perhaps it was my thirst or tired feet, but this was the perfect after work stop for me. They had plenty of room at the bar, and cider both on tap and in the bottle. Boyfriend had Smithwicks and was equally satisfied. Would definitely go back for a drink when I'm in the neighborhood, and will try the food. Word to the wise, if it's an Irish bar - don't order the nachos. Order the Irish type food. That's like getting a burger at Picante. No.

  • Heather S.

Great bar - I come here about once a week for drinks and sometimes dinner. It is very close to my husband's office. The service is great and the waitresses get to know their regulars which is cool. On the food side, the chicken sandwich, reuben, burgers, and chicken tenders are great. Love the Stella and Blue Moon on tap!

I always have a great time when I come here. While you wouldn't come here for the food necessarily, they do have a decent bar menu. It has the feel of your classic Irish pub, and you can come in here dressed how you like to dress. No one to impress, and everyone is always way nice.

  • Garett T.

I stopped here on a business trip. On a Tuesday, it wasnt exactly busy, but the staff was very friendly and I never had an empty beer, plus I got to talk sports at length (but dont let that stop you if you arent into sports!) I will go again next time I am in Chicago.

Emmit's is pretty cool. Definitely good as Irish bars tend to go. I would stay away on St. Patty's Day, but if you want a low key evening with the friends out of downtown, this is a good place to go throw back a couple.

    (4)
  • Cassie B.

this is a nice neighborhood bar. it's huge and has two levels. fun clientele. who lives around here though? it seems so out of the way. minus one star for having the bathrooms in an out-of-the way dank downstairs location, as some drunk person may be caused to almost trip and fall.

    (3)
  • Cara B.

I love Emmits, it's my neighborhood go-to as i live across the street! but i have to say i was recently thoroughly disappointed when i brought a group of friends there raving about how their chicken fingers are in my top three across Chicago. I had been talking about them all day, and when they came out, i realized that they had changed them since the end of last year, and i was devastated. They are soooo terrible now and are like fake cafeteria, frozen food.. CHANGE THEM BACK!!!!

Very quiet spot on a Tuesday night, but definitely charming. Stopped in for a nightcap and to finish watching the Cubs game. There were only a handful of people inside but the place has a great vibe. Spacious, cool decor and plenty of TVs. It looks somewhat unassuming from the outside, but definitely is a great spot to grab a drink and relax.

They filmed Backdraft here, which is sentimental to me cause it's the first movie over a PG that my uncle ever let me watch without permission from my mom. Many years, countless curse words, and plenty of nude scenes later, and I finally got a chance to check out the location that's now Emmit's Pub. Like the famous firefighter film, I'm giving it an R rating for Really Good Irish Pub. It's got a mix of stuff like Shepard's Pie and Fish and Chips, but most of the menu is your basic bar food. It's tasty and affordable, but not really going to have you screaming for a Michelin Star or anything. They really excel in what the Irish do best. There's lots of Scotch and whiskeys, they pour a perfect Guinness, and the staff is welcoming and friendly like you'd expect from any pub back in the old country. Overall I left with a pretty big smile on my face. Similar to the naked parts in Backdraft that my uncle made me leave the room for, but I cam back and watch later.

The kind of bar I would like to wake up in. A comfortable space with plenty of old-school charm. We opened up the place on a Saturday. Is 10:30 AM to early for a glass of wine? Don't think so. It was us, the bartender and Saturday morning TV. I felt like Norm. Plenty of light and a great atmosphere, with aesthetics that don't suffocate you with Irish novelty. It has a great name as well. I understand it has good food. Hope to try some next time. I'll be back and hope to make it on New Year's Eve. A good hangout.

The bar Godilocks strikes again. After being bounced from Butterfly (they were closing early), hating Buddha and then landing in Emmits, we tried to make the best of our night. It was our first night in Chicago and we were determined to have a good time. So by all accounts we should be drinking Irish whiskey to have this so-called "good time." I toyed with my Jameson and Ginger and decided this bar would be fun any other night but it was too loud, too bright and we wanted to have some fun. Bye Emmits, it was fun but not quite our steez that night.

Came here after a fabulous dinner down the street. I had skipped drinks at dinner and couldn't wait for a few cocktails. Bar was crowded, but there were still lots of seating options- yessss! Our waitress was very attentive and efficient. I decided I felt particularly Irish and tried the Tullamore Irish Mule- Tullamore Irish Dew, ginger beer and bitters... it was very ginger-y, which I liked, but had a secret kick to it for sure. At $8, the price was on trend for the city. I had mixed drinks as well- and those came up $6. Most prices are posted in their drink menu, which is great-- I hate those end of the night "oh crap, I spent HOW much?" suprises... The food that went by looked great. I would definitely want to try it! I would love to go back soon!

Emmit's let me down :-( I'm Irish, love a good Irish pub. What better than an Irish pub with so much history, in a city that I love, and has been in movies that I even love, and even made an appearance in a show (Bar Rescue) that I love... Well it was a Saturday afternoon, stopped into the famous pub. The even more famous table where Clooney and Damon sat was taken so I took a table out of the way, just to relax and grab some lunch. After sitting for 5 mins. I noticed there wasnt a server or bar tender around. I just played on my phone for what seemed like another 5mins, and a young man appeared from out of nowhere. He seemed to be the only one running the show that day. He was good, polite, and seemed to keep up with everyone. I mean ever since he appeared he was professional and checked in on me and my meal from time to time. I got the mozzarella sticks, which were tasty.. But did I do something wrong with ordering the fish and chips? either the oil hadn't been changed or they left my fish and chips in too long. the meal sucked, so I just finished my mozzarella sticks. Not the experience I'd expect from the place :-( I hope its better when I try again soon, hopefully by the next time I will hear of some more better or popular food items to try.

This Chicago pub has been seen on the silver screen many times. However its less than tinsle off camera. Men's room is putrid and the shepherds pie used some sort of rubber used as meat... def not lamb or any type of beef and the potatoes were like an elementary school cafeteria. Even instant potatoes would have been better than this tasteless grule. Saving grace was definitely the bartender, he poured a perfect Guinness and held court telling a few tall tales to the mid day bar flies.

I ventured here one winter evening because of its appearance in Ocean's 11 (the George Clooney version ... he and Matt Damon first meet here). I found comfortable seating, a casual and welcoming atmosphere, friendly bartenders, a decent selection of draft beer, and well-made cocktails. (I haven't tried the food, but would be willing to do so based on what I observed being delivered to surrounding tables.) The crowd was relatively diverse and pleasantly lacking in the element that populates Loop-adjacent establishments such as South Branch. I've only been on weeknights, so I can't speak to the crowds or quality of service on the weekends, but it is a great place to grab a nightcap after dining in the Fulton Market/West Loop area.

  • Love For Chicago I.

Emmit's is one of my favorite spots in Chicago. I trek clean across town from Edgewater to go there because I love the atmosphere, awesome bartenders, very friendly wait staff and more importantly the jukebox that allows me to be my regular eclectic self and play everything from MJ to Sinatra to 50 cent to Hall and Oates. Big thumbs up for them having an awesome corned beef sandwich, now carrying green line and being across the street from my #1 bar in Chicago....The Funky Buddha Lounge. They also get cool points from us for being featured in Ocean's 11 and allowing our group to host a pre-St.Paddy's outing the night before St. Paddys. What an awesome spot, and a great place to meet friends and get that genuine Chicago Irish pub experience. Can't wait to go back again. -LR

I'm a bit on the fence about how to rate Emmit's, but it'll get a 3. I was there late Saturday night and we found a spot right away and greeted promptly. I was a little hungry so I ordered nachos and it was gone quickly. I may have just been hungrier than I thought but it was tastier than I expected. We never had too much trouble getting our waitress' attention when we needed something during her frequent checks on us. Would I purposely come here? I think there are plenty of faux-Irish bars in the city that I don't need to come all the way to River West to go to one, even if it is a decent one.

Met some friends here for drinks this past Saturday night. Overall a great place with a good selection of Beers on tap at reasonable prices ($5-$7). All the beers that we ordered came in the proper glassware which is always a plus. Bartenders were all attentive and quick which is all you can ask for. Also a ton of TVs with the various playoff games on and tables as well. I would come back again for sure.

How have I NEVER been here? One of my offices is literally across the street...so how in the world have I never stopped in for happy hour? I wanna biff myself. So fast forward to a Friday night and a friend suggested we meet here for drinks. I say, sure, I know exactly where it is. I walk in, and I'm in love. Emmits is my kinda place. Large bar, enough tv's to make a sports lover happy, lotsa beers on tap, good lookin' clients/staff, fast and friendly service, clean bathrooms... I'm stoked to come back.

Went with the boyfriend because I needed a St. Patty's day Rueben, having missed the holiday. We first ordered two Lagunita's IPAs, which we were both familiar with. They tasted a little off, not sure what that was about, but nbd. Ordered the Hot n' Blue chips, and were pleased enough. Boyfriend loved them. Split the 2 sliders, the Rueben, and the Baked Mac n' Cheese. Boyfriend really enjoyed the mini burger, the mini chicken I had was OK. The corned beef in the Rueben was thick-cut, and a bit fatty and tough... instead of thinly shaved, lean, and tender. I wasn't super disappointed, being an infrequent meat-eater (any meat tastes delicious) but my boyfriend didn't take but 2 bites, which is very rare for him. The Mac n' Cheese was basically penne in alfredo sauce, with melted "other" cheese atop and some bread crumbs. It was my least favorite, mostly because it was misleading. It didn't seemed particularly baked, which was a bummer, but more importantly, it didn't seem like Mac n' Cheese. It was also quite bland. The fries that came with the Rueben were excellent. The service was great. The dill pickle on the side was also spectacular. Two stars. Emmit's: Below average, but by no means terrible.

This is one of those bars that just feels comforable to hang out in. It is not corporate and just feels like one of those family neighborhood bars you want to drink at. This bar is quite famous...it has been in several movies and tv shows over the years. This bar was home to Uncle Buck...yes that loveable John Candy use to drink here when it was called O'Sullivan's. In Oceans 11, Matt Damon is handed a card that says, "Meet me at Emmits" and when he shows up George Clooney is there. In fact, I remember the day they filmed that...they were making fake snow to put on the street. CBS also had a tv show called Turks and this was their bar. I am sure that list goes on and on but that is a little Hollywood Triva for our neighborhood bar. The beer is always cold and the food is really good for bar food. My wife had a salad here and the lettuce was really fresh. I've had the burger and it was tasty and cooked perfectly. The staff is really friendly too...the waitress went out of her way to make my little one feel comfortable. Parking is easy...depending on when you get here...there always seems to be some street parking. Public Transportation is easy too because the Blue Line El stops here at Grand. Luckily I live near by and I can just walk over any time!

The bar is great, as are the bartenders, which is why I gave it three stars. Otherwise, I'd give it one. When I go to an Irish Pub I expect to have Irish food, not Mexican. The only food that could be considered remotely Irish is the Guiness-battered fish and chips and mine came to the table cold, soggy, and tasteless.

This is one of my favorite bars! You will always have a good time here. The crowd is fun and relaxed. Most nights you will find people singing along and making new friends at the bar. I have dropped in looking like a mess after pub crawls and dressed up after weddings. This is a place you really will have fun no matter what kind of night you are having.

So my wife and I came here after looking for good local pub. It is defiantly a solid pub, no frills, but good atmosphere. It's laid back and a nice crowd (don't know if they rolled out the drunken Irishmen at the bar just for us.) Really nice flat screens to watch the big game. It's an Irish pub, so all your usual suspects for beverages with some local brews. My wife was happy their Magners was nice and cold. We ordered a spin dip; it came to table pretty fast, so pre-made obviously, but its a pub so again right on par. We did really appreciate though the fresh pita and chips. My wife Caesar salad was solid, nothing to write home about, but enjoyed. I had the baked Mac n Cheese. I really liked it. Just the right amount of cheese and large noodles, worth I try if you are in mood. The server checked on us often and kept us happy. Overall it's perhaps a 3.75 star, but we rounded up as it was good experience.

Emmit's was awesome, and it seemed like it was just out of a movie. We were looking for somewhere to go on a sunday night and walked in here. It was surprisingly packed, the we notice the sign for a wedding reception. We are just about to leave when we're told the bar is still open for business as well. Everybody was really friendly. You could tell the wedding party was having a good time. The whole bar was singing along with Leavin' on a jetplane at one point. It was almost surreal. As far as the actual offerings of the place they had a decent tap list and I didn't have any food. The experience alone was worth 5 stars.

What an awesome spot! Popped in for a special tapping of Goose Island's BCS and were pleasantly surprised by everything that followed. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff, and DELICIOUS food. We had the BBQ pulled pork and pesto grilled chicken panini. The ciabatta bread was perfect, as were the fries. Fresh ingredients, great taste. We stopped in for a special occasion but will definitely be going back for a beer and food again soon!

I really like this place. Of all the pubs I've been to in Chicago, this one, Revolution, and Rock Bottom are the best. Grilled cheese and fries are great, the servers are really nice, and it's just a cool place to hang out.

If you're looking to say you sat where Clooney did, this is your place. If you're looking for a pub with great food, then, it's not half bad. The Bloody Mary was spicy and delicious. The beer list is ok, but nothing too fantastic - a few craft beers are available. I had the onion rings and nachos. Both were good, but fairly standard pub food. Nothing really stuck out as worthy of a trip back. The bartender smiled, but wasn't terribly friendly. We were interested in sitting upstairs and, though she smiled and awkwardly said, "sure sure you can" she was actually shaking her head side-to-side saying no. It was kind of comical. So we decided it would be best to just stay on the lower level. No big deal.

So I thought I'd start my St. Patty's Day a week early, and ventured over to Emmit's this past weekend. Apparently I'm not the only one who had the same genius idea. At 8pm on Friday night, this place was packed, but not uncomfortably so. We managed to snag a booth and settle in. While service was a bit spotty and absent, the beer and atmosphere completely makes up for it. I'm a Guinness girl. And these had to be some of the best pours of Guinness I've had in memory. Maybe they put leprechaun tears in the water. Or maybe I just think it's better because I feel like this is actually a legit Irish pub. Reasonably priced drafts ($5-6), with tons of TV's for your viewing pleasure. Only knock: the women's bathroom was absolutely disgusting. I mean, I blame that more on my fellow female patrons than anything, but ick. nast. Parking: pretty easy street parking in the area, some metered and some free.

It's an Irish bar, and that in itself really doesn't ever do much for me. That said though, we still had a good time drinking cold beer and checking out the scene. Would I ever make a lone trip just to come here? Um, no. But, considering there are quite a few places right next door, it does add a pit-stop when crawling around... Enjoy Suckas'!!!

Almost two years to the day, and I'm writing another Emmits review! I can remember the last visit like it was yesterday, but those days are kinda gone , sadly. Emmits is still a great hang, though. They have a great jukebox, and it's the kind of place where you'll end up talkin' to people who were born in Ireland, or just the person sittin' next to you that had a hard day on the Trading floor. Good times, good people, at Emmits. Their Nachos are pretty good. 3.5 stars on my Nachos list. Monterrey Jack cheese was the star that brought it all together, and real jalapenoes. Was not a fan of the taco sauce they put on, but it was also served with guacamole, and sour cream and salsa on the side. Nice. Portion was big enough for two. They've got tappers of Jameson, and also have Smitwick's (Smittick's), and don't ask for a Killian's Red (it happened!)- they don't have it. St. Patrick's Day is approaching, so the Irish feel of Emmits might be the perfect place to celebrate!

My wife and I have been to Emmit's a few times now, and enjoy ourselves each time we go. The food selection is solid, and a good offering. I've loved every meal that I've gotten there, and the beer is great! We have had a couple of different waitresses, and they are all nice, friendly, and prompt. One night we were in there, and our waitress from about a week or so prior, stopped by our table, just to say "Hi" and that she was happy we were back. This is a definite "go-to" bar!

Our dinner group started pre-drinking here while waiting for our table at La Scaola. Then we came back after dinner. That's how much we liked the place. Plus, the upstairs area was big enough to hold our group which ended up growing as the night went on. Our waitress was a trooper with going up and down the stairs with all our drinks and shots orders. Fun times all around. I'll be back. Note: it did get extremely warm up there, but our waitress turned on the AC before we even asked about it. Thank goodness. Me, my drink, and the heat were not mixing very well. So big thumbs up to her.

Emmits needs to either get an air conditioner or invest in a better one because it was HOT up in this mo fo last night. Yes, I know Chicago is in the midst of a heat wave of sorts, but come on. Proper A/C is a must. Moving on then... I'm down with Emmits. ** They have great specials every day. I'm talking about you $7 turkey bacon wrap and $5 pint glass sized sweet tea vodka and lemonades. ** There wait staff is kind and speedy. Exactly what I need from people serving me drinks and pub grub. ** You might actually find real Irish people with accents hanging out at the bar. I did. Said Irish folks were nice. ** Speaking of nice... The rest of the non-accented clientele are pretty darn friendly, too. No frontin' in Emmits. This is the type of place to just hang out, be yourself and chat with your fellow bar-goers. ** I don't know if I'd go to Emmits on a Saturday night expecting a rager. It seems to me as more of a chill, after work bar. Rage on at RedNo5 down the street. ** If Emmits is a bust you can always head next door to Richard's Bar to rock out to the juke box and eat hard boiled eggs.

This was a bizzarre little pub but decent enough. Would I have come here, had Daniel Ocean not had slipped Linus a business card telling him to go here? Probably not. Would I have checked out a certain table that Mr Clooney and Mr Damon sat in? Doubtful. But they had decent beers at okay prices. Fine by me! Very "old man" vibe going on in here though. Us two ladies looked out of place. But we did it! Check another movie locale off the Chicago list!

I am very picky about bars and I am only leaving a review because I love this place that much. Emmits has a little bit of everything for everyone; they have a great beer selection, really fun and nice staff. The owner sits in front and always talks to the patrons as they walk in hoping to make their time in his bar better. All in all I have never had a bad experience in Emmits and definitely recommend dropping in for a cold one.

A fun laidback bar on the west side. It's in a great location right by the Grand Blue Line stop and a perfect meeting place between Wicker Park and the West Loop. No frills, but it's big, the prices are good, and they have a jukebox. A great neighborhood joint.

I slinked in here after a party in fulton market before catching the blue. Sat at the bar, it was late, asked if they were still serving, asked about specials, bar tender clued me into a 6.95 burger that was phenom. The fries were actually good too, i threw a little vinegar on them. Washed it down with a stone levitation. Rock solid meal and basketball on the tube, what is not to like :-) The service at the bar was spot on.

More than an Irish bar, this is a great Chicago bar. A historical place that has been a tavern since the gangster days. Check out the interior and exterior and it is easy to see why this place has appeared in numerous movies, TV shows and commercials. Try to get there on the morning of the downtown St. Patrick's day parade and you might catch the Shannon Rovers marching across the top of the bar itself. Excellent beer and Irish whiskey collection to go along with solid pub food.

Finally got a chance to check out the place Clooney got Damon to go in on a Las Vegas bank heist in one of my favorite movies, Ocean's Eleven. Checked this joint out with fellow yelpers after the Elite Event at Mars Gallery. The waitresses were really nice and took care of us. Really cozy, spacious booths towards the back near the bathrooms. This place is bigger than what I exected it to be. They had my favorite Stella for $5.50, which was great. Pretty cool crowd in this place. Some of the patrons even took an interest in hanging with us for a while. Due to the Stella warping my mind, I cannot remember too much more about this place, except for the fun I was having with my yelp mates. I will definately go again! Great bar in a great area and just so happens to be right across from my old girlfriend, The Funky Buddha Lounge.

The first time my teeny little feet crossed this threshold, they were en route to the nearest bathroom. Luckily nobody who worked here had a problem with that. I'm sorry, sometimes waiting for the Grand bus is a bitch. Tonight however, I was accompanied by someone who works in the area and we decided to grab some beers and eats. The spinach artichoke dip was definitely awesome and chunky and worth the $$. Way better than the suburban chains of my spin/arti/dip past. I got a burger, not amazing, but good, and I now have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch so that can't be bad. My dinner date's fish n' chips seemed to be equally satisfying and the bite that I sneaked was pretty rad in my book. We saw some dude who looked way too much like Neil Patrick Harris and the whole atmosphere was a bit off putting, but hey, it could be worse.

Conveniently located off the Blue line, staffed with friendly people, and a good selection, this place is a winner. I stopped in for a couple of beers, and ended up trying out their shepherd's pie. Let me tell ya- when you're drinking, THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE is what you want to eat. Fills you up nicely, tastes delicious, and keeps you rockin' all night. Their beer selection is nice, and it looked like they had a good bit of Irish whiskey as well (sorry, I'm a scotch guy...). There was a table behind me of what you might call "high-fivin' white guys", and I absolutely loved it. This is the place for that. Meet some friends here, have some beers here, and try the shepherd's pie. You'll be in good company.

Emmits is down the street from our apartment and I am thankful for that. It's a great pub to hang out at. The food - not so wonderful. But you know what? I didn't come for the food. Just the drinks please =) We came here with a group of 10 or so on St. Patricks day around 10:00 and had an EXCELLENT time. We nabbed a table upstairs (where there was an extra bar) and watched the Shannon Rovers from a prime spot. Couldn't have been better! Hit this place up for a drink next time you are in the West Loop.

Great place to watch a game. Always has beer specials. Great cozy, old-pub style atmosphere with a very friendly waitstaff. PBR specials almost every night, and a good selection of local and domestic beers. Never a long line at the bar, always a friendly crowd, and great appetizer and bar food. Definitely a gem in Chicago to check out! Get there early! I went here last for Halloween and it was a very fun time! Everyone was dressed up in costumes, from 21 years old to 51 years old!

Now, if you all know me well enough, then you would know that bars just aren't my scene..even if they're irish. I didn't come here by choice, as a group of friends were staking out to surprise a friend who was eating dinner across the street for his birthday w/ the parentals. It was a Monday night. Since I had to sit at the bar alone for a majority of the time I spent here I had the time to take notice of my surroundings. The bartenders were friendly enough. I had a glass of Cab I believe and it was very tasty. I tried the Chicken Cesar Salad with low expectations, and I was indeed very satisfied. The dressing seemed homemade and the chicken was very fresh and flavorful. This is a great thing. The clientele was seriously all men. Older men who may or may not have been sitting there since 3pm and it was 8pm by the time I got there. I would say this is probably a local place where everyone gets hammered. I wonder if it's a creep/sausage fest on busier nights. Once all of my friends arrived, we starting doing some shots to get the night started. I suggest not ordering a "bomb" of any kind here unless you want to vomit. They use Roaring Lion here which is a redbull copycat served from the soda gun behind the bar. This means it's A) WARM and B) Absolutely sickening. FAIL. Not my kind of establishment but I'm sure some people enjoy it.

I've been here twice, once randomly with some West Loop friends after work and we played around on the piano. Second time was on St. Pattys. The line starts around 10 am that day and wraps around the long block. We hit it up around 7 or 8, no line. We made it for the bagpipe players who lined up on the bar. It was a unique experience and I actually got chills. You have to Emmits for this celebration, I am happy I did.

Good place, friendly waitresses and bartenders that pour a proper pint of Guinness (complete with the clover in the foam). Specials highlights: 30 cent wings on Sunday -- sizable wings, with a delicious vinegar-base spicy Buffalo flavor $4 pints of Guinness on Wednesday -- it's Guinness! Food-wise: I love the Pub Burger, a nice half-pounder with bacon. I also like the Fish and Chips (I forget which day it goes on special). The traditional Irish Stew was okay. (This version has barley in it, and unfortunately I kept comparing it to the one I had in Dublin). Drink-wise: An average selection of beers on tap. Think Guinness is too heavy? Try a Smithwick's, which they have on tap. TV-wise: 4 flat screen tvs, 3 across the bar, one visible through the main seating area, and an old CRT-TV for the booths in the back. Most times they will show the obvious sporting event. They are more likely to show Blackhawk games than Bulls game. (but the Bulls suck this year, so it's no surprise!) Parking: Depending on the night you go, it shouldn't be terribly difficult to find street parking within walking distance. Music: You are at the mercy of people who make selections at the jukebox. Otherwise, the bartender on duty usually has something decent playing.

I'm a big fan of this bar. Due to the location and ambiance. Surprised I haven't written a review yet actually. Been coming here since I was young... People are friendly & actually professional & fun. They won't ignore you until you leave. It's a dark wood, kind of Irishy bar. It's open, has booths, an upstairs, great eats, high ceilings, fireman's bar. Go to Emmits & then go again.

Another Irish bar in Chicago? Wait, this place is way cooler than you are thinking. Emmits has a long and rich history on this corner and has even been featured in a number of movies. Despite the fame, this bar has remained fun and low key. Here are some more reasons to love Emmits: 1. The Quesadillas 2. Fish n chips 3. Pub burger 4. Guinness tastes better / stronger here than anywhere else 5. Lots of TVs for watching Chicago teams 6. Friendlier than normal servers 7. The booths 8. Right off the blue line, so even in the dead of winter its an option 9. Low tourist count 10. I don't have a ten - just wanted an even number

Come here for a beer or four! They pour a mean Guinness. Imperial 20 oz pints; the traditional Irish way and the only way in my book. Not served until settled. Complete with a shamrock imprinted in the foam. That was the highlight of my night here. The rest of the experience was just Meh. The music was too loud and we had to shout to hear each other. When we asked our waitress if she could turn it down a bit, she gave us the rudest look and turned up the music. It got so loud my ears were hurting because we were seated right under the speakers. Lovely. We ended up leaving shortly after this incident to seek a quieter atmosphere. Hopefully, if you decide to make a drink stop here, you'll have a nicer waitress who won't seat you under the speakers.

Emmitt's is my go-to place before a Hawks game. It's easy to park around there (somewhat) and it's not jammed packed with people like WestEnd. You can find a seat, chill out and if needed, take about a $10 cab ride to the UC. I was here once after the Paddy's Day parade and had a grand old time whooping it up with Shannon Rovers and NYPD and NYFD...ya that's right ladies....now you know where to find em this year!! :) Food is good...I've only had the grilled cheese from here and it wasn't bad. Definitely a fun place later on at night. A good crowd each time I've been there. Normally Irish people, but like I said, good crowd.

Haven't had the food but the beer selection is good and the atmosphere is low key cool. I dig it. Especially when Funky Budha asked for a twenty buck cover and my friends and I had but fifty bucks between us. Spent it all in Emmit's instead. Thanks!

Emmits is just another Irish pub but probably with more history than a place like Mystic Celt or O'Shaughnessy's Public House. The food is just average bar grub but Guinness is done right.

Whenever I go to this roomy, loud, slightly shady, fun, Irish dive bar, I always wake up with a wee bit of a headache the next day. I'm not sure what it is about this place, but it just makes me want to be a little bit... naughty. Uninhibited. Loud. Giggly. Strangers will talk to you. The waitress will check on you often. They have Taboo. The music is pretty good. The wings are really good. And they have what you want to drink on tap. I like it here.

Emmit's actually has a pretty decent burger. I had the barbecue bacon cheddar cheese burger. Is it worth nine dollars? Probably not. But it's better than other pub burgers I've had. Four stars.

Love Emmits. Came here before heading over to La Scarola with colleagues. Drinks were solid and the beer was ICE cold. Lots of guys in this place too -- so single ladies get your butt over there. Mmmm....beer.

So how fun is this place? I stopped by here the other night with friends to grab a beer and catch up and ended up having a really good time. The bartender was friendly, the beer was cold and the people surrounding us were fun and funny, in that order!! Of course- I also liked that it is located in an old bank building (circa 1890) so there are remnants all around of what the structure once was. I hear that the old vault is now the wine cellar. I was also told a story by the bartender that the old bank was a front for the Italian mob in Chicago (funny- all I wanted was a beer and here I get a little bit of Chicago history!) For those that know me- I am a historic building nut so anytime an old building can be re-purposed so that future generations can enjoy it- I am happy. Put a couple of beers in me and my happiness increases! The menu looked good so it's definitely on my "try" list for when I am back in the neighborhood. Check it out. You might even feel the presence of one of the old Italian mobsters hanging about one of the back corners of this fun Irish bar. Hmm . . . Italian bank to Irish bar- bet that is causing some tongues to wag in the hereafter!

Classic irish, neighborhood pub. Always have great service, and it's a good place to hang out on weekends, catch a game, etc. The atmosphere is unassuming, and on a good night you can end up spending a couple of hours hanging out with one of the owners.

I'm a fan. Fun bar, easy parking, friendly bartenders. When we went, it wasn't super crowded, and we snagged a couple of seats at the bar. Great beer selection, and I enjoyed my ice cold Magner's while listening to good music. It was, for the most part, a 30+ crowd, which immediately made me like it more. The owner was sitting at the end of the bar, and sent us over a round of shots. It was the house shot, and it actually tasted really good. Very nice of him! I'd go back, it felt nice and neighborhood-y. Had a great time!

I want to like Emmit's, I really do. It's a lofted Irish pub mere blocks from my humble abode. But, when it comes right down to it, the place leaves me feeling a little apathetic. Meh. I can't say any particular thing has stood out for criticism, but neither has anything positive stood out. To be honest, despite 4 or 5 return trips, I still can't find myself feeling particularly passionate about this place, either way. The crowd is a mixture of neighborhood residents and area workers. Melissa is quite right in that the place tends to be dominated by men. The waitresses are nice without falling over themselves to please customers, and my friends have generally had nothing negative to say about the mixed drinks or food that we ordered. Added bonus? The beer selection tends towards European brews, although you can still find American stalwarts on tap. Attempting to get served at the bar, regardless of the number of customers present, has always been one giant FAIL for me, here. I generally love Irish-style pubs, but for whatever reason Emmit's just does not do it for me.

The sad thing or not is realizing that the number of reviews that I have is not inflated by any means. After looking this up on Yelp, I couldn't believe that I hadn't written a review of this place. I was here years ago after some work event/dinner, but never remembered to put a review in. I just came back from there, and am somewhat intoxicated right now only after a very small number of drinks. Crap, I think someone threw a shot in there. In any event, I can appreciate the Irish theme, and it's a great way to extend your St. Patrick's Day all year long. I had the $6 BLT, which wasn't too shabby that came with fries. The Soco and Lime shots seemed to be more heavy on the lime though. A great place to just hang out with friends, and the staff is pretty nice as well.

Yay for Emmit's! I love coming here for St. Patrick's Day and since I am related through marriage to one of the owners, I never have a problem getting in! Aside from Patty's Day, this is just a great bar to hang out with friends and watch football games. A lot of people on Saturday afternoon will stop in before a wedding at Galleria Marchetti since it is down the street. Overall, the people that come here are people that want to enjoy a fun evening out. Plus, it's been in movies (Oceans Eleven, etc) and in that Budweiser American Ale commercial. Also, famous people like George Clooney and Hugh Dancy say they like Emmit's. So, go there! You may just run into a famous person!

Went to Emmits last night at about 10pm and were surprised to see the age of the crowd in there. I would say the youngest person there was in their mid thirties. By the looks of the place, we thought it would be a younger crowd. They did have some specials last night on whiskey drinks for $4, but we don't drink that so we stayed with their decent selection of tap beer. For a 312 and an Oberon, it was $10.50, so it is about the same price as anywhere else. I would call this a chill bar to go to with your own group of something after work where you won't get disturbed by others.

Can't find a closer Irish Pub from my front door than this and it's within stumbling distance to Richard's Bar. Need I say more?

good place if you are the ubiquitous Chicago late 20s early 30s meatball re-living you college career antics instead of networking to make our city better. Maybe I just dont understand the culture that I grew up in, I never have since I was a child. Irish bars aren't the most welcoming places especially with country music. Saturdays are brutal. Its a bangar fest in there taboot.

This is "my" hangout. I spend at least one or two evenings a week here. It has become the meeting place of choice for me and my friends. Really casual atmosphere .... very friendly staff and great food (the Quesadillas here are great. They also have a huge selection of beer.

I don't know how I managed to never set foot in this joint before yesterday, but man was I pleasantly surprised. It seems to be a true blue irish bar as opposed to a lot of other ones, but I have no idea for sure and didn't give it a DNA test. I walked in and they were playing some old kinda obscure Faith No More and Primus...BIG PLUS in my book. Drinks were average priced, a nice of 10 or 12 taps like you would expect...Guinness, Blue Moon, 312, etc. In particular I was happy to see they had Kalamazoo/Bells white. The waitress was nice enough, but it was at times very hard to get her attention in a relatively empty place and puzzlingly didn't know what a weiss beer was. Ah well, she was cool enough to go grab smokes from Richard's for my friend. We shared the chicken quesadillas which were decent if a bit average. What more can you do with cheese, chicken, and a tortilla I guess? I had the pulled pork sandwich which was REALLY good. Or maybe I had a lot of beers. Decent bar food, nothing that special but certainly hit me where I wanted hittin'. Overall it was a cool beer bar I would happily go back to, where I got fucking smashed and am still nursing said hangover at the very moment of writing this. I could see it getting into my pantheon over time.

I was referred to Emmits by a friend who claimed they pour the best pint of Guinness in town.....a very bold statement to make to a Guinness connoisseur, I might add, but a couple of other compadres reaffirmed her opinion so off I went...... Low and behold she was right! Great location, friendly helpful bar staff, and the handful of times I have been there the joint has been hoppin'......and unequivocally the "BEST PINT OF GUINNESS" in the Chi !!!

This is not a bad spot to grab a quick drink but it seems very cliquey. I've tried going here multiple times with friends and never found it to be a good social place to relax. Everyone seems to mind to their own, and it's not a friendly intermixing type of place.

Not a fancy joint by any measure, but that is a big part of the appeal. First and foremost, they pour a mean pint of Guinness - which is basically a necessity for a good Irish pub in my book. I used to live right down the street when this neighborhood was totally sketchy. Emmit's was then an anchor for us locals, and seems to continue to be, even with the influx of yuppie dollars. The food is solid if unassuming pub-grub. The staff continues to be friendly and accommodating by all measures. (The bartenders and waitstaff have suffered some turnover recently, and some of my favorite sudslingers have departed - thus 4 not 5 stars.) Avoid it on St. Pats - too many amateurs drinking their once-a-year Guinness out of plastic cups. Weekend nights can get pretty packed but the barstaff does keep the line moving. Weekday evenings are a perfect time to hang out and take in the scene (which has been in tons of movies and commercials). Bottom line: very convenient to the Blue Line and plenty of buses; excellent beer and whiskey selection; owned by a trio of old-school Chicago guys - at least one of whom is a retired firefighter. A true Chicago-Irish pub with some history behind it.

I used to live a stone's throw away and would stop in with quite some regularity. It's nothing fabulous, but it's not horrific. I had plenty of good times there. The food's all right, the crowd gets weird sometimes, and sometimes it gets far too packed in there but all in all, still on the list for being an ok spot. Though they are kinda whoring themselves out to films and commercials in the last few years. They had Woodchuck on tap and that was reason enough to go for me.

Always have to have a Guiness whenever I am in an Irish bar. This place has a neat location on the bust corners of Milwaukee and halstead in Chicago and I was eagerly anticipating the day I stepped foot in this place. Well I went in and it really was notbing spwecial. It was just like any irish bar in the burbs. the food was average and there was not as much on tap as one would expect. Anyway the place gets an average rating despite its above average location.

Fun place to drink with friends. It does get crowded on the weekend but what bar doesn't. If you are looking for a place to sit down check upstairs you can usually find an open table. Decent music, good service and a nice selection of beers.

Stumbled on this place later on when driving for a place to grab a drink and a bite...service was surprisingly nice and fast, not the fanciest food or decor but seems like a really fun place to hang out. Copy of "Nightspots" complementary on the table, how cute! Need to come here more to give it a cry.

Best Guinness in the city, hands-down. I haven't tried the food or anything else really. Well, there might have been nachos one night, not totally sure. But the Guinness also makes Emmits worth the trip.

Just okay and a bit overpriced for the quality of the food. This is a microbrew of sorts and to be honest your better off getting a commerical tap. Overhyped and over rated!
