This was my second visit to this establishment within the past 2 months and I haven't been let down yet. This time we sat outside and dined outside on a wonderful, clear Chicago night. Food was great, service was on point and the cost was acceptable, wonderful for date night and special occasions. If you're a wine drinker the wine list is expansive!!

Great steakhouse. It has a nice atmosphere, is very professional and welcoming, and has excellent steaks which is the most important. Our waiter was great, and they had a very good wine list including some with a good price quality ratio. Overall it was a great place for a business dinner, and not nearly as stuffy as most steak houses. I would definitely go back with friends as well. Lauren the manager, was great, and we were surprised to find out or dessert was on the house. All in all a great experience.

Despite being a chain restaurant with locations in other major U.S. cities, Del Frisco's-Chicago managed to provide a very unique feel. This is a rather massive and equally beautiful space. From the moment upon entering, one is consumed by elegance and surrounded by the city's largest inventory of vino. I was able to get a table for a client dinner party of 11 a mere three days prior to the actual dinner engagememt, often a rarity for most fine steakhouses in Chicago. One may see this ease of reservation as a sign of trouble, but I was willing to roll the dice. The group started off at the upscale bar area with a few, albiet pricy, cocktails. From there, and per my advance request for the best table in the house, we were seated under a gorgeous cascading crystal chandelier with an impressive skylight above. The incredible three-story vino vault with a winding staircase was positioned directly adjacent to our table. Honestly, the online pics simply don't do justice for this truly jaw-dropping ambiance. Oddly enough, and as noted within a few other Yelp reviews, the restaurant was sparsely populated for being a warm Thursday summer night in the city. However, this aspect actually worked out quite well considering the amount of privacy we were able to maintain throughout the entire evening. Keep in mind this was an adult business dinner. The food itself was right on par. Most of our party opted for the seasonal summer prix fixe: a large salad, an 8 oz. filet with one of three seafood pairings and a side...all for the bargain price of $55. For my seafood pairing, I opted for the scallops and they were absolutely amazing as were each of the various appetizers and sides ordered for the larger group. My steak was a bit salty, but hit the spot regardless. The staff - including a junior-level sommelier and a table visit by the executive chef - was very accomodating and attentive. They actually scooped & served the family style side dishes, which earned them bonus points in my book. A final dessert course sampling provided sweet tooth gratification across the board. Granted our group bill was well over $3K - largely due to our taste in fine wine - but I certainly left feeling fat & happy! I can't speak for the other Del Frisco's locations, but I truly felt special here in Chicago as did my clients from out of town.

When I am paying $40 for a steak and I ask for it to be rare, it better come rare. Arrived medium to medium well after waiting too long. Did I mention the overpriced Barolo was corked? Boom! One star. My dad was pissed too because he still had to pay for it! To many steakhouses in the vicinity to come to this chain. Was hesitant to come here and my instincts were correct.

Went a 2nd time for a business dinner after a disappointing first visit. The food was OK but not great. Service was fine but there was a private party on the upper floor with a speaker using a sound system that went on for a long time - it was so loud it was impossible to have a conversation at our table. We sought out the manager - all he did was say, "I apologize."

My poor review here is really based on terrible service. The food was mainly pretty good, some of it really good. The room is very nice - from street level you have to take two escalators up to get to the dining room - this increases the wow factor. Glassed-in multi-story wine cellars and a long dangly chandelier dominate the room. I was here with a large group - 14 people. Our reservation was made more than 1 month in advance yet we were seated at a long rectangular table that really should have seated 10. We literally could not sit down. The staff did not seize on our predicament or our unhappiness with the situation and we were forced to make due so we rearranged the seats ourselves. It was very tight quarters. Service was unbelievably slow as well. Our dinner was fairly straightforward - passed appetizers, salad, entree, dessert, and took 3 hours. There was literally a gap of 1 hour between our salad course and entree. Shameful. All of this despite many complaints that required us to get out of our seats and walk to front of room to voice our concern since our waitstaff was nowhere to be found. The food? Almost a non-issue since our poor service had put us in a foul mood. The high points included the crab cake appetizer. This is a small portion but very delicious, meaty, sweet, and served with a lobster-bisque-like sauce. The desserts were all excellent (comp'd for us, obviously). Butter cake was oh-so-good, cheesecake was amazingly light, banana bread pudding was rich and not too sweet, and the warm chocolate cake was dark and sticky (in a good way). Tip: Don't be Shanghai'd by the Shanghai calamari - typical fried rings with a too sweet sauce - yuck. The steaks can be ordered with a number of different toppings. My "hand-cut" filet was very thin in parts and very thick in others - making part of the steak too well and part too raw, even cold in the center; I wonder if "hand-cut" is euphemistic kitchen lingo for "scrap". The Oscar topping on my steak was appropriately decadent. Those that ordered the bone-in Wagyu ribeye said it was excellent. In a city full of superb steakhouses. this one just doesn't make the cut.

The 2 star is for customer experience, food was good, just Very disappointed with this experience, booked this for my wedding anniversary, I was told seating either window booth and outside are options, came in only inside was an option and we had to wait 10 minutes for a booth, service was ok and I was promised an anniversary surprise dessert and our server did not acknowledge our anniversary, I'm assuming she was not told. I don't think I would come back again!

The crab cake appetizer is delicious. The sauce is perfect, not too spicy and just the right amount for a little with every bite. The wine is exquisite. The staff is very attentive and intuitive. I would definitely come back.

I've never been so impressed and unimpressed at the same time. Firstly, I go to grad school around the corner and have always been impressed by the Esquire sign. Of course, being on Oak street, the decor did not disappoint. From the first steps in until the dining room seats, the decor was wonderful. I was just on time to my reservation (a later dinner), so I was kind of surprised when the greeter asked me if I wanted a drink at the bar before (they normally ask when you're early, right?) I started with a Sazarec - that glass made the drink that much better. Mmm. Pretty impressive. We ordered the $89 wagyu steak, lobster mac and cheese, calamari, mushrooms and creamed spinach. The calamari was very asian-fusion like. It was decent but so messy. I was kind of taken back that the staff started serving us (versus asking if we would like to be served the calamari). What was even more surprising, however, was that they were spilling over the table as they were serving. All the marks on the table (spilled food) were from the waiters! ..what?! Our steak, and 3 sides also came together (we were sharing the big steak for two people). I was kind of unimpressed by the steak - I would go with Mastro's equivalent any day. The sides were decent, but again, the waiters intrusively started serving us without asking us and managed to spill again! They made a mess while serving which just took away from the dining experience as a whole. Having eaten at so many steakhouses in the city, I'm glad I came to this one, but I probably won't be back anytime soon..

Labor Day weekend so the place was empty on a Friday night. We for that reason had no reservation and walked in to a nice patio corner table. This was my second visit there. The first was 2 years ago for GNO six people. The place does large groups well and the atmosphere/ bar area / dining area is fantastic. one of the only/best things about the place! 2 years ago I really liked the food and the sides and portions we shared. This visit was a total bust. The $67 bone in filet my husband had - EH. No deep beef flavor. Food took about 45 minutes to deliver. WHY? The brussel sprouts really went south. There was some overly vinegary/bitter flavor that I just couldn't get over. The appetizer oyster (6 SMALL blue point oysters for $19) were just that- expensive crudo. Don't give me blue point oysters that I can get at Whole Foods for $1.50. Source something better for being a steakhouse. Can't go back. Nothing compelling about it. Better in my book: Bavette's, Tavern.

Visited for a nice dinner to celebrate a new job with some friends. The service was top notch and the food was superb. I ordered the 20oz Porterhouse that was featured in the movie "Law Abiding Citizen"... We all ordered a generous sized steak and sides for the table. I particularly liked the Lobster Mac & Cheese. We had an issue with something we ordered and it was taken care of promptly. I will be coming back when i'm in Chicago again. This is a real 1st class restaurant.

Sometimes you get so overly full, that you're not able to fully appreciate the food that you're eating anymore, which is what happened to me here and a disgusting problem to have given all the starving people out there. And yet, it was also an incredible problem to have because even as full as you are, you know what you're eating is amazing and so you keep eating it. Your stomach says no, but your tastebuds just can't help themselves. As we were in a work dinner situation, I prepared myself for the feast to come. Stretchy waistband and all. You are started with the freshest bread possible. It's so warm and fluffy, you can imagine yourself using it as a pillow, but why do that when you can spread the luscious, softened butter on it and stuff it into your mouth instead? I'm so glad they provide softened butter- it irks me when I receive a cold piece of hard to spread butter for my bread. We then received seafood towers. Largest shrimp I've ever seen. They were like jumbo shrimp on steroids. Yum. I tried a crab leg. Yum. I even tried an oyster. My first one ever. Yum. The crabcake we received was alright. It's not something I would have ordered anyway, but I certainly didn't regret trying it. What I loved was the calamari. It comes fried with an Asian sweet, sour, and spicy sauce, and it was perfection. I could have easily made a meal of that and the bread and butter. Then came our salads. I tried the beet and goat cheese salad and the yellow beets weren't my favorite, but the red ones with the goat cheese and the candied nuts were a nice refreshing middle(?) course for the rest of the meal. For my entree, I ordered the filet trio special and I don't exactly remember the toppings, though I think one was blue cheese. Medium rare means red hot inside and the steak itself was amazing. With all the wine coming at us, I can't tell you which I enjoyed most, but I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. At this point, I was just trying to put as much food in as my body could handle because it was all so good. The sides were as ridiculous as anything else on the menu. My favorites were the potatoes au gratin and lobster mac n cheese. As for the desserts, I'm pretty sure I tried all that were placed on the table and I know I liked the creme brulee, but what I really regret not eating more of is the lemon cake. Enormous and moist and just the right amount of sweet and sour. Everything was delicious. Service was impeccable. And the decor and ambiance is elegant and refined. Bring your significant other here for an anniversary. It'll surely impress and please you both.

I went to this place alot when it first opened. I started to come back recently. The food is good. I am one of these people that is trying to become more of a foodie than I already am...and yes I have a long way to go. I came here with a friend a few nights ago to sample some of the wine of their list because I am trying to learn more about wine than I know today which is I like it alot and want to know more :) So we what i refer to as a "internal recommendation" and we had a white blend of something called "cunundrum" and then we decided because it was so good that we were going to have another glass. Awesome and classy all the way round

Trying to be an awesome date, I made reservations for us to dine at Del Frisco's for lunch before heading up to Lincoln Park Zoo. Since it was such a nice day (thank you date gods) we sat out on the patio which gave us a perfect view of the shops on Oak Street, including Harry Winston, which my date commented on (my credit card started sweating at that moment). The dining experience here was top notch as was the service. Following the tip of my Yelp buddy Angie K. I recommended to my date that we try the VIP cocktail. Holy horseshoes this drink was DELICIOUS! My date got the drink on the rocks and I got mine straight up. We both agreed that the straight up version was the way to go. Since we weren't that hungry we decided to get appetizers and settled on the Cheesesteak Eggrolls and the Shanghai-Style Fried Calamari. When I say you MUST TRY the Cheesesteak Eggrolls I mean it. These eggrolls are what I would serve the Queen (A.K.A my mommy) so the kind of eggrolls you'll find at your local Chinese Buffet. The Shanghai-Style Fried Calamari was a treat to the taste buds as well. I definitely plan on going back to Del Frisco's!

I order a difficult steak but I've been to a different location before and liked how they made it. They under cooked it three times and overcooked it once before I gave up. Everyone else really enjoyed their meal and the asparagus side dish was amazing! They treated us to dessert to apologize for the steak and spilling a glass of water on me. I highly recommend the Del's Delight for dessert. They seemed genuinely apologetic about all the problems. So overall their food is good when cooked properly and the people were nice.

I give it a four to a good part because loved the service by John and one of the managers (?) called Richard. They just seemed like genuinely good people. This year we did not do turkey at home for thanksgiving as both my wife and gorgeous boy prefer sashimi given them the option....I ordered the turkey dinner at Del Frisco and ordered their fancy top of the line Wagyu steak for my wife and son, lobster macaroni and cheese, and a few other side dishes. The steak was fabulous. Turkey was good. Overall aside from too much bacon in everything I could not fault the food. Nice, beautiful place. Music is awful, even worse than small town dentists' offices. The place feels a lot more like a chain than an individualized restaurant like Gene & Georgetti or Bavette's ....so be it. I am glad they are in Chicago and will certainly go back. Thanks John and Richard.

Out of all the 'high end' steak houses in Chicago, this is by far the worst. I've been here three times and every time it's bad. Dry lobster, still frozen crab legs, dry and tasteless steak. The oysters even had shell shards in them. No idea how this place is still open given how much their overhead has to be and how bad their product is. They can't even make a decent manhattan... I think the bread was good though.

Have been here twice, and both times were great! Def need a reservation in advance...this restaurant is huge but it's almost impossible to get in last minute. Escalator leads you to the check in and main bar, which is big with TVs and several tall tables surrounding it. Never had to wait too long for a drink or our table. Service is excellent, waiter goes over everything in detail and takes his/her time if you have questions. You never feel rushed. Atmosphere is loud & fun! Not stuffy at all. Towards the center of the restaurant is their wine cellar, surrounded by glass and inside- a spiral staircase going from level one to two. Quite impressive! Our first experience here my husband, my girlfriend and her fiancé were all curious about it and asked our server, who actually took us INSIDE and gave a mini tour. (Not everyone gets to do this, a really nice touch). Now the meat: their steak is phenomenal, aged perfectly and melts in your mouth. The only thing that gets me is the fact that Del Friscos loves to put a ton of pepper/seasoning on theirs. I always order the filet, and last time I was there I should have known better and said no to the seasoning because it was a bit too much. I guess I like my steak kinda plain, so all I'm tasting is the meat. Regardless, Del Friscos is up there with all the other top steakhouses in Chicago.

Had dinner here in 2/7/15 with 3 other people. First - this place is LOUD. And I mean extremely loud - between the crowd, design of the restaurant and music blaring it us very hard to even carry on a conversation. Second - I never thought I'd put this in a review but the way the women at the hostess stand were dressed was both tragic and inappropriate. I imagine like most higher end places, they were instructed to dress sexy but this was ridiculous. One was in a leather bustier, one in a skirt so short we could literally see her thong and the third in a dress so small we could see her nipples when she was leaning over the stand. No joke - nipples. I'm not a prude and really don't care what people wear but I would prefer no nudity at an eating establishment that's allegedly high end. The food was very good - we all had the Restaurant Week prix fixe menu with the filet. Two of us had the salad and two had the loaded potato soup. Both were good and the potatoes that came with the filet were awesome. The table bread also very good. The dessert trio included a lemon cupcake that was SOOOOO good. The 3 stars are solely based on the f'ed up ambience and situation at the host stand. I probably would not go here again - I like to have nipple-free dinner conversation when I'm paying $80.

We went here this evening and I'm sorry to say we had a poor experience. We booked a table for 8.30 and we're not seated until 9.15pm. The host told us "oh we like to give you plenty of cocktail time as that's what we're known for!" I was starving and hadn't eaten all day and had she more meat on her bones I would have eaten her. I have to say however, the lady serving behind the top floor bar was great. Once we were sat down, we waited at least ten minutes before someone acknowledged us. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks. Normally this would be odd but I was flipping starving. Egg rolls and tuna tartar were awesome. Lobster mac and cheese is the best. The crab cakes weren't good. The crab didn't taste fresh and they weren't seasoned. The pasta side that came with the crab cakes was tasty. Don't bother with the mushrooms - they weren't sautéed, they were poached and soggy in tons of juice. They were not freshly cooked - I've had better from a buffet. I was surprised before our visit that this restaurant wasn't fully booked 3 months out like Joe's but now I understand why. If you want to compete with Joe's you need to concentrate on the service and refining the few items on the menu that do not work. I don't mind waiting for a table but no one proactively took care of us. You pay a pretty penny to eat here and that is meant to ensure a seamless service. We just got "we are busy." Yes, well, Joe's is busy with people packed in like sardines but they know how to turn over and still make you feel special.

Terrible service from the hostess...9 o'clock reservation still made us wait 45 minutes to be seated. Our waiter was terrible as well...he talked too fast, was incorrect about steak temperature, steak was over cooked and very salty! I wouldn't recommend this place but if you do go don't go on a Friday night. The dining area is loud and not very intimate. Business casual is what we expected - most of the patrons were not dressed this way (club attire/gym shoes and t-shirts). Not a fan of Del Friscos Chicago location.

Everything was delicious. We started with the shrimp trio appetizer and the calamari. Best calamari I've ever had. I had the lamb chops. She had the tuna filet. Side of lobster macaroni. Everything was 5-star.

Wife and I had a very nice meal here last weekend. Pro server, environment was not loud and obnoxious (hate that in steakhouses). Our 16oz bone in ribeye was perfectly cooked med rare and everything tasted perfectly as it should. That sliced corn side dish is highly recommended too! Will return.

I was there for Restaurant week in Chicago and they were really busy. Still they manage to server great food. Service was very good regardless of the amount of people that were there. I hang out at the bar before I sat down and the bartenders were really cool.

Best filet I've ever had. Ordered the 12 oz and the crispy outside was to die for. Paired with the mash potatoes I was in heaven. The asparagus was nothing great. Heard the lobster mac is the side to order (but i'm not a seafood fan)

Hello everyone! First time in Chicago with my girlfriend the French fry and coke connoisseur Angelina L. We have a tradition to try a Good steakhouse and Del Friscos came up so that's where we journeyed to. After a good walk we finally arrived and went inside which had a nice decoration butttt there was no one here to greet us... All we saw was an empty podium and an escalator that was working that led the way up. So of course we took it and long behold there were 3 very nice hostesses that were very friendly and welcoming! So all is good! They actually seated us early at 6 pm even though our reservation was at 6:30 pm. As soon as we sat down our waitress came to our table and got our drinks and began to explain the menu which was very nice and was happy to answer any questions we had for her. I originally wanted to get a crab cake for an appetizer but my girlfriend got the Prix Fixe menu where you could actually pair one of 3 items with an 8 oz filet, one of which was the crab cake and one side. I ended up getting the prime rib eye with a side of sautéed mushrooms while my girlfriend got chateau mashed potatoes. Let's start with the Crab Cake. It was excellent it had big chunks of crab that had a great flavor and was mixed with a green that gave a good flavor the crab cake as well. It was accompanied by a lobster sauce that was not spicy and very flavorful I only wished they gave us more. My girlfriend ordered a Filet that was seasoned very well and was very juicy and tender. A very good cut so bravo to them. If there was something off it would be that my girlfriend ordered her Filet to be cooked medium but it came out close to medium well which is acceptable to her. I like most awesome steak eaters chose the Rib Eye! It was an excellent steak! Seasoned well, very juicy, cooked the perfect medium rare. For those who like the rib eye the one at Del Friscos is a good knee to choose. For so,e extra flavor you would probably go with the bone in rib eye. The sides were good as well the Chateau potatoes were very good. They are mashed potatoes mixed with some other ingredients one of which was green onion which gave an excellent fragrance to the side. All in all a very good side that can be share with the family. The next side we got were the sautéed mushrooms which were cooked perfectly and I personally love them with my steaks! Good flavor! The sides do come family style and are meant to be shared! For dessert we got a cheesecake. I want to make it clear that this dessert was good! But sadly the least liked on the visit. The bottom crumb crust was a bit hard compared to the other cheesecakes I have had and the backside had something resembling sesame seeds which I wasn't too fond of. But there were fresh strawberries on the sides of the cake which were a great addition. Overall a great experience, staff was friendly and attentive and the food was great. Would recommend it to all of my friends!! Have fun everyone!

I must say when I took my then fiancé to dinner for our anniversary we were surprised with the awesome service. But it's expected with the prices they have. We both had some awesome rib eye steaks, sides we got were the mac n lobster which was amazing and a side of spinach again great. We just went there a week ago now she's my wife just because. Expect to pay $200+ if it's a couples and way above that if its a larger group. Overall I would recommend this place

The place is beautiful, much attention to detail in the build out. I feel like it is probably not being run like a tight ship, which usually happens to places of this caliber after being open for more than one year and management changes from the initial one. Our server's outfit was more of a Spybar bartender outfit. One of the things I enjoy from an upper end steakhouse is service and presentation of it. Gibson's receives a big thumbs up, the servers there are dressed like they mean business. So going back, her outfit didn't make me feel like I was at a fancy place and her demeanor either... Don't get me wrong, she was very nice and maybe overly casual and friendly service for this type of place. It was almost like being at a diner but paying big $$$. The tomato bisque was like pouring an open salt container down your throat. Definitely skip that, not even if it is $1 because that has to be bad for your system. One of our highlights was the food runner. He asked us to cut the meat through the middle right away to make sure it was the kind of pink we wanted (something Gibson's should start practicing; you'll know why if you read my Gibson's review). Honestly, the food runner is the reason they got an extra star because it was going to be a 2 star review. The lemon cake was a very nice ending to our meal. We might be back because they have an amazing outdoor area, and we hope to get service that lives up to the price-tag then.

Spent dinner here with some coworkers. Nice multi level place with a lively atmosphere. I was there early and had a couple of sodas. Staff was super nice and on top of the drinks. We were seated promptly and ordered. Waiter made some good suggestions. I had a sample of all the appetizers. The cheesecake egg rolls were super. Very tasty! I ordered the special medallion trio. It was pretty good. I had ordered it medium although it was more medium rare. The sides were well prepared. The spinach side was terrific. The meal overall was good. For the price there are much better steak places however. I don't think I'll be back unless there's another event, etc.

I was excited because we had talked with several other people/waiters from Chicago who said this place was excellent. One waiter said that the service would be primo. Well, he was not correct as far as our waitress was concerned. I don't consider any waitress who rolls her eyes when I ask for more tea to have primo service skills. I ordered the scallops minus the couscous, well they came with the couscous, and it was taken care of promptly. That in and of itself, just the food, not a deal breaker. Then I found hair wrapped around my asparagus. Kind of creeps me out, so I didn't eat that. They did give us new sides. The manager was super sweet. Then I asked for more tea, got the eye roll. They did take care of our meal and gave us dessert. I love LOVE their lemon cake. I believe the experience would have been great minus the attitude of our waitress. Even everyone else at the table saw her roll her eyes and said WOW...who does that? For me, not a great experience.

I've dined for many years at the Del Frisco's in Dallas and was happy to see they made their way to Chicago! I can't say enough good things about both the customer service and the amazing food. The atmosphere is very classy without being stuffy and the staff, highly skilled and deserving of the five stars. I will continue to frequent the Chicago location as I did in Dallas and look forward to many more wonderful experiences. And a special thanks to Anna, for ensuring our dining experience was flawless.

I reviewed this restaurant poorly because I had a very poor experience. I received a note here on Yelp from a manager of the restaurant. She wanted to talk more about my experience at Del Frisco's. I wrote her back. Left my phone number. Told her she could contact me anytime. Never heard from her again. Just goes to show you what a crappy place this is and how poorly it is managed. Boo! Hiss!

I'm so glad that they are now in Chicago! I had a tremendous experience here and the food is fabulous. The staff is wonderful and it's probably the best steakhouse in Chicago.

The new Del's in Chicago is over the top excellence. We dined last Saturday night and had a fantastic time. The new restaurant design is very beautiful and a must see. We have dined at three other of their places in Las Vegas and NYC and the Chicago spot blows them all away. The food, service and the ambiance can't be beat anywhere.

I was so looking forward to trying this restaurant and went there last night to celebrate a friends birthday. Although the ambiance was magnificent the service and food were not deserving of a 500.00 tab. Had it not been for the fellowshipping among friends old and new the evening at this restaurant would have been a complete disaster. Our orders went in at 8:34 for drinks and shortly there after for the meal however, we did not receive the meal until 10:15p.m. One would have thought that a professional manager looking for repeat customers and positive feedback would have acknowledged their mistake and quickly tried to make amends. Not the management team at Del Friscos. When questioned about the time frame he quickly became defensive and rude. Maybe he was hoping that we would not realize we had been sitting for over an hour for our dinner that had to be packed to go for one of the mommies in the quad when it finally arrived. Two of us ordered the same meal, the filet with crab cake and NOLA sauce. My friends dinner came out as it should have been with the sauces atop etc. My entree was served deconstructed. The white plate looked larger than-life as it sat there with a dried out steak missing the crab/lobster butter topping and the boring crab cake minus the infamous NOLA sauce had.. Well three request and 15 minutes later a different waitress sat the missing ingredients down on the table and walked away. I did not realize that I was at a DIY Steakhouse?!?. Must be a new concept, I know Maestros and Tavern will never serve in their establishments. The crab cake was very good however the steak was dry. The steak tasted as if it had sat under a warmer light for an extended time, After speaking with one of the waitresses we were told that the normal time should be ten minutes for dinner to be served. I was truly disappointed as this beautiful edifice did not stand up to the reputation of a Superior Chicago steakhouse and those of the helpers here. Maybe one more try, or maybe I will stick to those managers who have been trained to be considerate, professional, and understanding of ALL of the needs of their customers. Terrible management, poor service, poor meal presentation, terrible steak, good crab cake, great lemon cake, delicious bread, corn and spinach.

We'd heard that the ambience would be good but that the food would be mediocre...& that was exactly what we experienced. While the steak was a good portion, all of the other main courses were undersized. The side dishes were also ridiculously small. The drinks from the bar were either too strong or completely wrong. The dessert menu must have been designed by someone who had no clue about desserts. They had the most unappetizing, over-priced selection of desserts I've ever seen. Might give them a second chance sometime, but not in the foreseeable future!

I was recently at this place for a company event, so I can't speak to consistency... However, I had the bone in ribeye and banana bread pudding and both were to die for. This steak was the best I've had in my life. Pricey, but worth it!!

Without hesitation this is the most impressive restaurant in Chicago. From a wonderful space, to impeccable service, to fantastic food Del Frisco's Chicago has it all. Despite it's location a high level of pretentiousness does not exist which is kind of refreshing. We arrives a few minutes early and decided to grab a drink in the upstairs bar area. After pleasant conversation with the bartender and only a sip into our drinks, the hostess located us and escorted us to our seats. Our server, Jarrod was on point making us feel welcome and at ease. After reviewing the specials for the day we decided on a crab cake appetizer. Their version is baked not pan friend which significantly cuts down the grease factor and lets you taste each bit of crab. It was delicious. My entree was the filet medallion trio which were topped with a Bing cherry and Gorgonzola butter, a truffle butter with scallop, and a melted Gorgonzola butter all of which only enhanced the quality flavor of the steak. My wife had bacon wrapped scallops on a bed of spinach and couscous. They were cooked perfectly and were delicious. Sides we decided on were the King Crab Gnocchi and Wild Mushroom Risotto which were outstanding. Overall I think this location blows away the one in Las Vegas which I also love. If you are looking for a fantastic dinner in a phenomenal space, you've come to the right place. this place is medium pricey but it is worth it. You won't find a better place to have a fantastic meal, feel welcome and enjoy the design of the space. I will state again (see Las Vegas review) , the steaks blow away Ruth Chris, Smith & Wollensky, Weber Grill, etc. and are better than Wildfire, and Gibson's. Yes get a reservation, yes prepare for an experience if you don't have other plans, and yes prepare for a mini hit to your wallet. It is all worth it. Let's be realistic about your dining experience people-opening week is the worst time to review a restaurant, telling the server your party of 10 is not on a time schedule and then expect to get out under 3 hours in a jam packed restaurant is silly, and complaining about service when you purchase a $285 bottle of wine expecting they should do more for you than any other patron is ridiculous. This place is just flat out awesome and if you can find a better place please let me know.

Visited with friends in celebration for my hubby's birthday...the meal was SUPERB!! We got off to a GREAT start with a couple of great 'spirits' along with the fried oysters, lobster bisque, Del's salad & cheesesteak eggrolls; while our friends ordered calamari & classic caesar. I ended the evening with the Veal Ribeye with chateau potatoes, sautéed spinach & lemon-caper sauce - SUPERB! Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his bone-in ribeye fit for the king in him with wild mushroom risotto and asparagus while our friends dined on great entrees as well. Overall the service was wonderful and the ambience was great! I HIGHLY recommend checking out Del Frisco for a FIRST CLASS dining experience! Looking forward to the next visit to checkout a dessert option I was too full to try out.

Finally: A Del Frisco's here in Chicago. Now I can now get great service in a steakhouse. Every time I've been to the one in NY they remember my name and my wine preferences, and the staff has been warm. Monday night I went there with a group of business colleagues who wanted to check out the new Del Frisco's on Oak St. The space impresses. Big, open, and classy. Stone crabs and king crablegs and oysters to start with some lean white wine. Steaks are as good as the ones I've had at Joe's (and that's saying a lot, if you know what I mean). Sommelier helped us work through the wine list. Wow. Great reserve selection.makes Chicago Cut's list look like the list at a Chili's. (can't stand Cut's dining room either- being bumped by waitstaff while I eat and do business is infuriating.) All in all, we agreed that this is the place to take clients. Warm service, beautiful dining room, food on-point. Finally....

Where do I start? When it comes to Steakhouses, I definitely have had better for the price (Mastros). There was no "wow" factor here in their meats or in their sides. You know a Steakhouse isn't spectacular when I could of made the exact same New York Strip at home with same spices and the same side of creamed spinach. Besides the point, people will still go to this steakhouse and not because of it's food, the prime location in the old Esquire Theater has everything going for it. The dining rooms are gorgeous and they did an excellent job renovating it. Things that are not working for them is the fact that they don't warn ladies that their really thin Christian Louboutin heels will get stuck in the (scary!) escalator and damage the leather if you're lucky enough to get it out. The three hosts at the host stand that were starring at me as it happened said nothing, laughed it off and were like "it happens all the time", and it didn't dawn on you that it may be a problem if it "happens all the time?." My husband is the restaurant business and was shocked that they weren't more concerned about what happened to me on the escalator. They were more concerned about typing into the computer apparently and staring at each other. The THREE hosts proceeded to stare at us and type in a computer for a good 5 minutes (god knows what) and finally seat us in an empty dining room (it was an early 5PM reservation) If that wasn't enough, their valet is the worst I've experienced! Took 20 minutes to get our car, I am not exaggerating and there was other annoyed patrons sharing their frustration in the vestibule with us. Then we get our car and they threw our key fob in the passenger seat and it feel in the side between the seat and the floor so it was impossible to get to, um as a valet you should know that there's a specific hole to put the key fob to be put in. Needless to say unneeded frustration when we had 7:30PM Opera tickets (we arrived 5 minutes late because of this whole fiasco). Get a new valet Del Frisco's- one that has more than 3 people working on a Saturday night. All in all, the food isn't horrible but its not worth $60+ a steak either. Go to Mastro's your money will be better spent there.

Day before Christmas Eve and 3 weeks after the place opened. 500 seat restaurant on 3 levels. Space is beautiful and let's face it - people love atmosphere. Great bar scene and great people-watching. Our server (Jazmine) was adorable, efficient and aimed to please. We had 7:30 rez on a Sunday and did not want to be rushed. She "got it" and did a damn good job of everything! From recommendations (should we try the shrimp cocktail or crab cake?) - without hesitation she said ALL crab NO cake and boy was she spot-on. On some yummy spicy-creole sauce all YUM. We were licking the plate. Hubby had a pink girly drink (pomegranit martini); I stuck with my GG on the rocks. Good sized and delish. We shared the rack of lamb done medium to perfection. He wanted garlic mashed but she recommended the baked with garlic butter. Perfect! Creamed spinach also good. Would have liked to try the brussels sprouts but he's not a fan so that was all she wrote. Portions are VERY generous. We had a great table, Could hear each other even though it was crowded and noisy and I just gotta say - though I am a BIG fan of Chicago Cut (they know me and treat me like an Empress) - they didn't know me at DF and they treated me like royalty as well. Will come back for another special occasion as this isn't an every-day place but for a fab meal in a gorgeous location. DO IT!!

Literally, my favorite restaurant of all time. The ambiance is modern, trendy and elegant. It is located in the heart of the Gold Coast in the old Esquire Theatre. The service is second to none. Everything from the sesame bread to the au gratin potatoes is absolutely perfect. The craft cocktails are a little pricey but extremely delish. Try the bone in ribeye and the salmon. Both absolutely to die for. The Del's Salad with Avocado ranch might be the best salad that I have ever had. We had a fantastic chat with the manager about where their cows come from. :) Try it today, do not delay. Best restaurant in Chicago.

A truly exceptional dining experience with impeccable service. Bravo to Michael Burch, one of the Sommelier's, as his expert guidance of a very well thought out wine list was spot-on. Great space, comfortable seating and incredible food.

The ambiance is top rated, it rivals restaurants in Los Angeles. The Filet Mignon is delicious and are great at getting to ones taste. The waitress was incredible and had a very personal touch to her service. I felt great about coming to this place and also felt relaxed.

Sorry guys.... Only two stars. I know it was opening weekend last night so I understand that glitches are inevitable. B U T..... With a good gratuity our party of four had a total bill of $840 (including $275 of wine). At this price-point, therefore, some discerning comments can be justified. For succinctness, read the bullet points below: *We all showed up at 8:35 for a 9:00 reservation and were seated at 9:35. *The upstairs dining area was having an obvious HVAC engineering headache and was distractingly cold. *The table bread was meager. Nothing "wow" about it. They should get a couple of tips from either (1) Joe's Stone Crab or (2) Nicole's Bakeshop. *Three of our bone-in steaks came out the wrong temperature. This was quickly remedied by a quick trip back to the fire. *The mushroom risotto was a mushy, over-salted mess. *The brussel sprouts were over-salted as well. *The beet salad had a small sharp piece of plastic in it. The free desserts they gave us were very tasty. But at that point, it was a dining experience lost. Unfortunately, Del Frisco's delivered a disappointing fumble. It is, however, a place to "see" a fabulous restaurant design/buildout and be "seen" by well-dressed Chicago A-listers.

Excellent decor. Staff attentive.. Apps: crab stuffed mushrooms, shrimp with three sauces, mozzarella/tomato skewers with basil and balsamic reduction all very tasty. Avocado dressing on salad different. Ribeye melted in your mouth, lovely fresh asparagus and mashed potatoes were good. Dessert was bread pudding, cheesecake, chocolate mousse and crime brûlée. Bread pudding was the fav. Nice wine selection. I love to eat when the food is good.

This Chicago location Del Frisco's is more focused on the scene than the food and service. We had to ask the waitress for bread plates and ask her to tell us about the specials. She didn't ask us to taste the wine before it was poured. I also think it is tacky for a restaurant to charge $3 for steak sauce. At a restaurant where customers are paying on average $100/person, this seems cheap.

This place was exceptional. To start, the restaurant is built out of the old Esquire, and the space is truly amazing. I you can get someone to walk you through the wine tower, I would recommend it. I went with four other people on the second full night of service, and it did not let down. Two of the people I was with had been to numerous of their other restaurants, and they constantly commented on how this was the best of them. Our server consistently made sure to stop and ensure everything was being taken care of, and we were constantly be greeted by other staff and managers, which was great. I had a porterhouse cooked medium rare, which was prepared very well, but my filet side was a bit more medium than I would have preferred. However, the New York side was perfect. Our table split the king crab gnocchi, lobster mac and cheese, au gratin potatoes with bacon, and onion rings -- the gnocchi was amazing. After dinner, we went to the upstairs bar, which had a really nice feel, as well. I look forward to future visits.

Del Frisco's is a beautiful, huge restaurant. We were seated on time for our reservation and had a spacious booth at the window. Unfortunately, the food and the service were not up to the prices charged. There are much better options in the neighborhood for steak. Food was average--steak was okay and the sides were small. I ordered a baked potato. It cost $9 and was an average sized potato with little sides of toppings. The service was slow and non-attentive. I had to ask for bread three times and when it came--it was a low quality hunk of tasteless bread. My ice tea was only refilled when I asked. Dishes were not cleared--even though they appeared to have lots of help. It appears that the owners are content with putting in their steakhouse formula from other cities in Chicago. Perhaps they should have eaten in the dozens of other steakhouses in the area before they opened. Chicago customers are discriminating and have other choices. If you want to spend this kind of money on dinner, I would strongly suggest Mastro's, Joe's, Gene and Georgetti's or Gibsons. This place was very disappointing--we live around the corner!

Wow, you better be on an expense account... Ate there 7 people 1,900$ (including tip) Place is really cool, Food was great, Service was, what is demanded in a high end steak joint, good. The only negitive was the upsell, (seafood tower, after dinner drinks) that being said we did enjoy all the extra stuff we had. Wine list is huge but they push the expensive stuff. Would go back in a second, as long as I am not paying..

I went to dinner here with a few coworkers and was impressed by the massive dining room. The service was impeccable from the minute you walk in. I had read a few of these Yelp reviews and tried the Lobster Mac and cheese, simply out of this world. I had the Veal chop and it was good, but for the price, Gene and Georgeti's, Morton's and Ruth's do as well and for less. If you are looking for a fancy and decadent night out, this is it.

Delicious food ruined by poor service. Steaks are excellent; lobster mac and cheese a decadent delight. But service was quite poor, especially for this price point. Waiter was inattentive and inconsistent. When we objected to being overcharged for a larger ($108!) lobster tail than we had ordered, he argued with us that he had announced the unavailability of the smaller one as he had served it. Like we were supposed to send one entree back while the rest of us ate? Chicago has many fine steakhouses; go to one where you will be treated better.

Wow this was a soup to nuts disaster. The physical space is in a renovated theater and had been nicely remodeled and an attractive space-that's all the good... Within moments after our party of four was seated we were handed a dinner/cocktail menu and the wine list. We were asked if we wanted to start with a cocktail before we could even open them up and see the selections. Our server came by to review the menu and seemed knowledgeable enough but was very high energy. We felt very rushed. The wine list is extensive and the sommelier appeared and basically interviewed us as to what wine to order. We gave our preferences and he made a suggestion with the usual flowery prose one would expect from this overdressed dandy. When I pointed out that it was not on the list he disappeared and after 10 minutes came back and apologized for suggesting a wine he did not have. One guest's cocktail was removed before it was finished-they did make good and provided another-but again the service seemed very rushed. We actually asked them to sloe it down a notch. Another server appeared to deliver some butter to the table and promptly dropped it on the floor in front of us, proceeded to pick it up then disappeared-it was weird. Only one of the four entrees were delivered properly. Two of us ordered bone in strip steaks at different temperatures and they were clearly mixed up (medium vs medium rare). Another guest was given a bone in ribeye when she ordered a filet so we had to start without her while they go the right order in. The GM appeared, I sense he knew things weren't going swimmingly (and one of our guests was scouting out the location to bring business clients). They did comp us a bottle of house wine to their credit, but it was far too late by that time to salvage a second chance of our first impression. Oh yeah the food-quite honestly was at best only fair to average and not a great value at all. We won't be back here or to any others in this chain anytime soon.

Very disappointing meal. We both ordered steak, since that is what Del Frisco's is supposed to be known for. I ordered the 8oz fillet (medium) and my husband ordered the bone in ribeye. His steak was OK, but mine was raw in the center and full of connective tissue and fat, it was actually hard to cut through. A fillet is supposed to have none of that. I pointed it out to our waiter, he agreed and arranged for me to get a new piece. The second cut was more than twice the size of the first, it was not even charred on the outside, equally full of tendon as the first and even more raw in the center. They took it back for a third attempt. By now, my husband was nearly done with his meal, the asparagus and lobster mashed potatoes we got with the steak were cold, and I haven't received my meal. I'd also like to point out that when they took my first steak, they also took my side of asparagus and lobster mash, which was not brought back to me. When the manager stopped by to apologize, I asked him not to bring my meal out, I just wanted to leave ASAP, so I could grab food elsewhere. A third of my husbands steak was fat...also disappointing. For an upscale steakhouse, I expected quality, well butchered meat. It was clear that the person responsible for butchering the beef tenderloin was not properly trained, or they were using sub optimal product for cost savings. Here is a link that will show how to properly butcher beef tenderloin into fillet mignon. m.youtube.com/watchv=WyS… The server and manager were apologetic, and service was great. The food was not. The desert was not worth the calories. I will say that the fried oyster appetizer was excellent, and the bread was good....I should have eaten more bread.

I have had the pleasure of frequenting several of Chicago's steakhouses, and Del Frisco's stands above the rest. First, the ambiance is fantastic. The high ceilings, unique lighting, wine tower and shear size of this place is incredible. Everywhere I looked, staff was constantly working, polishing glassware, and notably smiling. Everything they did seemed very crisp and refined with nothing out of place...at least to my untrained (yet observant) eye. Everyone seemed to enjoy what they do, which I always appreciate. Nothing is worse than an unpleasant staff. Which brings me to our server, Jamie. A nice, funny, knowledgeable brunette who seemed confident in everything she was doing. She answered all of our questions, was incredibly thorough, and clearly knew her stuff. More importantly, she knew how to communicate her knowledge effectively, so I could practically taste my food before it came out! Jamie asked if we were in celebrating anything. We were actually celebrating our wedding anniversary. The food...the service....it was all spectacular. We settled on a crab cake and beef carpaccio to start, which were both absolutely devoured. For our meal, we shared the long-bone wagyu ribeye and some Alaskan king crab legs and a side of lobster mashed potatoes, all cooked to perfection. For dessert I had the banana bread pudding, which was incredible. I don't know what my wife had because she ate it all, but I did get to taste it (berries and ice cream) and it was wonderful. For drinks we each had a martini (I had the del's and don't know what she had) which were dangerously smooth. We had an amazing bottle of wine. If memory serves, it was a Gaja red suggested by the Som and matched our entrees perfectly. At the end, Jamie treated us to some beautiful sparkling, which was a very pleasant surprise! Throughout our meal, we had managers stopping by to ensure we were enjoying our experience. From the ambiance and the food to our incredible server, Jamie, we will absolutely be going back! Thank you, Jamie, for such a wonderful experience at Del Frisco's!

There were pros and cons. We had reservations for a Saturday night at 9:15 p.m. Although there were many tables available on the main floor, the hostess attempted to seat us upstairs, which is much less formal (there were baseball games playing on the myriad of tvs), so we requested to be seated downstairs, which they obliged. The staff is accommodating, but a little rough around the edges. I certainly wouldn't call their demeanors upscale. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating (she allowed me to make changes to the prixe fix menu, which was great), but the man who discussed the drink menu with us completely ignored my friend, which was rude. I wish I could say the food was amazing, but it wasn't, except for the tuna entre - outstanding. The filet was OK, as were the salads and sides. I'm not rushing to go back, but I did like the decor. The enormous wine cellars and high ceilings made the restaurant look impressive and spacious.

Went to Del Frisco's on a Sunday evening. This place is huge and amazing. You walk in, and there are escalators for Pete's sake! Our table was ready and the service was very prompt. Even though they just opened, you could tell they tried to get experienced wait staff. Our water cups were promptly refilled and plates were removed with swift care. We started with the tuna tartare, which was divine. I love tuna, and it was a great flavorful dish. Then my date got the bone-in filet (something 'bone-in' but I can't remember) and I got a filet medallion trio special. (This wasn't the filet medallions. It was a special for that day.) One was topped with blue cheese, another with asparagus and Bearnaise (I think) sauce, and another with (I forget). My point is.. it wasn't a very memorable dish. I thought there was way too much topping and sauce compared to the amount of meat (which was cooked perfectly and juicy). I just didn't think it was worth the $65 that it came out to be. Should have just gotten the regular filet medallions. Hmph. Wasn't too ecstatic about that. We got sides too. The lobster mac and cheese and the mushroom risotto, par recommendation by our server. I thought I could eat the lobster mac and cheese as a meal and be full and happy. But alas, I had 3 medallions to finish, and we ended up wrapping the left overs (which no one ends up eating anyway.. what a shame). I would definitely go back here, but I would probably not get any specials.. I didn't think it was that good. But I definitely recommend the tuna tartare and the lobster mac and cheese.

"Do Right & Fear No Man" caught my attention, as I admired the beautiful decor. Whoever designed this restaurant is amazing. Great ambiance, great view, great service, and great food. This was my first experience with the "Del Frisco" restaurants. I was blown away by the transformation of the old Esquire theater. I was also blown away by the signature cocktail "The VIP." But what's really motivating me to take time out of my day to type this review is the service. We were served by Montrose and he went out of his way to accommodate me and my friends. He was attentive to our requests and made very helpful recommendations. The King Crab Gnocchi was amazing. The crab cake entree with the fresh pasta was amazing. I will definitely go back and try the steak. Bon Appetit!

I have eaten here twice in the last month. The staff, the bar area and managers are wonderful. Can not say a bad word about this place. Exceptional happy hour bar!

We had a very good dining experience at Del Frisco's. Our party included 8 people and we reserved the Oak Room - which is adjacent to the bar and outdoor partio. The service was outstanding and I'd recommend the Oak Room or private dining for any large groups. We all ordered steaks and a few of us felt they were a little over-cooked but still very high quality. I received a thank you letter from the manager a few days after our visit which I appreciated. I will be back

The Staff - An absolute disappointment I must say, I think I am still in shock from the lack of respect and total insult from the bartender and the manager at Del Frisco's on Oak St. A group of 7 ladies were out for dinner and drinks March 15th, 2013. We decided to stop and have a drink at Del Frisco's, as some of us have been to the locations in NYC and in Las Vegas. We didn't even have an opportunity to have a drink because we never got served. The bartender took one look at one of the girls that was in our group and immediately had it out for her. I'm not sure if she looked like an ex girfriend of his that broke his heart, but let me tell you, it was all over before it even started. The bartender get in our friend's face and told her that he was over served. Now remember, we only just got there and this was our first stop for drinks. It was so random that he would say that being that not one of us were even close to being over served. When my friend questioned why he wasn't serving her, or our group for that matter, he said that he "heard" from another paytron that she seemed drunk. Now if you were to know my friend, she's a girl that talks with her hands and can be a little clumsy in nature. My friend started getting annoyed as she wasn't understanding where this all was coming from. The bartender kept going on and on about her being drunk and frankly just had it out for her, it wasn't adding up at all. The manager finally came up to us and said that he was sorry and can he buy everyone a drink, at that point, it was now just insulting. Looking around during this whole disaster, I was noticing that the bar was turning into men, and men only. The hostess, which was a guy, was laughing at the whole thing, so in turn, laughing at us. Then we got chased out by the coat check girl who said to our friend, why are you leaving, you just got here? We responded and then she said, call me, let's do drinks in the most condescending mannerism. It was truly just unbelievable and just strange. Everything and everyone was strange. Bottom line is this, Chicago has so many incredible eateries and cocktail bars with beautiful estethics. No need to see what this place looks like just because it's the old Esquire Theater, it's not anything special.

Steakhouses in Chicago are a dime a dozen, and since my husband cooks an amazing steak at home, I really have to be up for trying something new to go out to one. Del Frisco's was delicious, albeit pricy. The room is gorgeous. We had a great waiter (Joshua) and we were very happy with the items we chose, most of which we shared across three people We had one of the best crab cakes I've ever had, all meat, no filler, on a lobster sauce. The caesar was delicious, not overly dressed nor creamy, but tangy and light. We shared a the longbone wagyu ribeye, billed as a 35 ounce steak, including the aforementioned longbone. For sides we had the delicious Chateau Potatoes (a zingy mashed potato dish) and sauteed mushrooms. Had a little friction in transition from the bar to our table regarding the drinks bill, and some confusion among bartenders, but the hostess worked it out for us. This is a nice special occasion place when you don't mind spending the money.

Ambiance and service was adequate. My steak was terrible. Bone in rib eye. So heavily peppered, it might as well been labelled au poivre. Most alarming, the beef quality was horrid. Tough, not succulent, incredibly disappointing. There are 40+ other steakhouses in River North/Gold Coast. I will not patronize DF again.

Came here last night with 3 other girls. We ordered a dozen oysters for the table and I ordered a filet and steamed broccoli. The service was absolutely horrible. The oysters were so poorly shucked that I had tons of shell in my mouth. When I told the waiter about the issue he said well I had some and really liked them. Also after I got my steak I waited 10 minutes for my steak sauce and steamed broccoli only to have the waiter come and tell me that they are out of broccoli so I got asparagus instead. Waited another 10 minutes for the sauce and asparagus to come. By that time my steak got cold. He also forgot our wine. I decided I just had to say something there were just too many things that were going wrong. The manager Nicholas was awesome he went and reheated my steak for a second and it didn't manage to get overcooked. The steak itself was really good perfectly cooked and very lean for a filet. He brought us three complimentary desserts and took about $40 off the bill. 5 stars for damage control. Two of my friends split the seafood platter and said it definitely wasn't worth it from the quality of the meat. And even though the customer service was great the oysters were still shucked really poorly and for a steak house that seems like a big no no. Probably will not be coming back here.

First time for dinner after having a fabulous lunch here a few weeks earlier. Made a reservation on Open Table which was very convenient. Checked in on time and sat at the bar with my son and wife for a cocktail. After about 20 minutes I had to go back to the hostess and remind them that we were here. The dining room is laid out nicely. Not over crowded at all. Very comfortable.. The wait staff was great. We all ordered steaks. My wife and I did the bone in rib eye. My son did the New York Strip. His was outstanding. Ours was good, not great. After dinner, Creme brulee dessert was shared and was outstanding. . I will go back but it wasn't as exceptional as I was expecting. Very good, not great. Disappointed I found out four days later in Indy at their sister restaurant Sullivan's, that they are launching a frequent diner program with double points in August. Its a good program but I missed the opportunity to start the program with the benefit of my Chicago dining credits. Not a big deal but in comparison between my Indy dining experience and my Chicago dining experience at two sister steakhouses, Indy wins hands down.

Very cool looking steakhouse. Solid quality steaks, limited seafood, uninspired salads. Huge and somewhat pricey wine list. Really uneven service...had to get a manager's attention to the initially painfully slow service when the restaurant was half full. Will give them another try, as they are new to the area. The service must improve if they want to compete In a crowded steakhouse market in Chicago.

Nice ambiance. Good service. Steak an absolute disappointment. I order the same thing at Capital Grille, Wildfire, etc., Bone-in Ribeye. The steak here was tasteless. I barely ate any of it. I took the rest home in a doggie bag to literally give it to my dogs. Way too many other top notch steak joints to come back here, especially given their prices are on the higher end of the spectrum.

Wife and I decided to get dressed as hip as 40-somethings can and get out of Lakeview to experience the cuisine our great city offers. We texted another couple and met them at the upstairs bar at the newest steak joint just east of the "triangle." People watching was great-- vacationing couples, bros trying to impress their trixies, divorced middle age men, some creepy some not, and a few girls dressed such that my wife thought they were pros, I wouldn't know. This place is great if you're looking for that scene, which we rarely are but it's fun sometimes. The steak was excellent but probably not as good as Mastro's, the apps were pretty good (onion rings were unwieldy) but no better than Chicago Cut. One knock was the bartender balked at my request to have a NY strip cut up appetizer style for us to split. C'mon, that's what I love about Chicago steakhouses. They're supposed to do whatever it takes to make the night memorable.

My husband & one of our best couple friends paid a visit to Del Friscos on 12-29-12 to celebrate the holiday season. First, the restaurant is stunning, what a view & a transformation! All of us had been very familiar with the theater & it was very nostalgic for us to be there. The service was impeccable. We had a 7pm reso & were seated immediately. Water & bread was brought out right away & our server Carey greeted us & took drink orders first thing. She took the time to review the menu & suggest wines for us once we had chosen our entrees, as well as giving us a history of the restaurant. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, gave great entree descriptions & made wonderful suggestions that we took her up on. Dinner service was impressive, each of us were presented with our entrees & side dishes by a team of servers, very nice touch. We were even given a tour of the wine tower by one of the managers upon Carey's offer, as well as a look into the party rooms for private events. Our 10 yr anniversary is coming up & Del Friscos is at the top of our list after this experience. Thanks to Carey & the staff, we had a great evening & will definitely be back!

First let me say the food was very good, the steaks were memorable. Than let me say that the service was so bad it was a joke, and so noisy you have to yell across the table. The service is so bad that it's not worth going back for the food. The waitress was totally clueless on the menu, or how to take care of customers. It took 45 minutes to order our appetizers and salad. We had to wave our hands in the air to request bread from a passing bus boy, wave again for coffee, 20 minutes after they cleared the table from dinner, waved again to get a dessert menu from another bus boy, and then have the waitress finally show up and dump the check on the table while picking up the dessert menu! Never asked if we wanted dessert, just clueless. The five of us paid the bill, walked around the corner to Gibson's and had dessert.

My BFF and I came for lunch. I wanted her to experience the banana bread pudding. I had dinner the previous night(lamb chops GREAT, lobster mac & cheese also GREAT),therefore I knew the excellence of the steakhouse. Our server/waitperson was Geneva. She was EXCELLENT. Her service should be the Del Frisco's prototype! The food is great, Geneva's excellent service made our lunch memorable! We had the business lunch(which consist of lobster bisque, salmon and asparagus) which was surprisingly affordable, and of course we finished with the banana bread pudding. Del Frisco will become one of my favorite restaurants that I will frequent, and thank you for having the insight to hire such an efficient waitperson as Geneva!

No steakhouse in Chicago can compete with the bone-in filet here. Top it off with Wally's VIP shots and Fritz's Irish coffees...how much is rent, because I am moving in.

  • Howard W.

Moderately trained staff including server. Took ten minutes for initial contact. Wine not available. One and a half hours to put steak on the table. One overcooked. One undercooked. Peas tasted like the can was old and this chain must think that bread should be just this side of white soft sliced sandwich bread. There are about a zillion other steakhouses in Chicago to choose from that are superior alternatives.

Only about 45 minutes after the review below appeared I got a message from the manager at Del Friscos. I took this as a good sign that someone cared. She asked for my phone number and good times to call so we could discuss the experience. I provided both. Now it is a week later and I have heard nothing. Ugh.

Needs Improvement. Went for lunch and the decor is fabulous but the service and food need to be vastly improved. The food runners brought us the wrong appetizers AND entrees. When we got the correct entree the filet was cooked incorrectly. If you are going to be a steakhouse your steak should be cooked perfectly. The ribeye milanese was overcooked. The ahi tuna tartare and bread were good.

Mind blowing steaks, service surpassing all expectations and an excellent Super Tuscan recommended by the sommelier - Del Frisco's you have this meat-lovers heart! Chicago is known for its meat joints and to date I've loved others, but now they pale in comparison. The atmosphere was festive without being rowdy. The tables had distance between them (gasp!) and the comfortable booth lent itself to people watching. I will be back!

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Its gigantic inside but yet its very warm and comfortable. We really didn't want to leave. Everyone made us feel like........a paying customer that they want to see again(and they will!). This meal was not cheap and so service was beyond par. From the greeting host downstairs to the waiters, sommelier, and guy that poured the water. Absolutely great! Everything we ordered was wonderful. So I will recommend it all: -Oysters(fresh!) -Crab Cake which had no breading and just chunks and chunks of crab meat all molded together. -Sesame Ahi Tuna was like eating steak. The slices were the perfect size and complimented with a wasabi sauce.....(smiling just thinking about it) -Waygu Bone in Steak was consumed by my guy who said it was one of the best steaks he has ever had (big david burkes fan). This steak could barely fit on the plate. Beware the price is extreme BUTyou can eat this for every meal for the next 2 days. So cut a little up and make a steak burrito for breakfast, steak sandwich for lunch, and hell just eat the steak as is for dinner. Then repeat the next day. (pic is the leftover steak that came home) -Lobster Mac n Cheese!!! There is real cheese and real lobster. For Real!! Banging! -Broccoli....Its broccoli. Just needed a green veggie I will not even began to say how much this dinner cost after all that and the bottle of wine and glass of port after dinner. Its expensive! But I would do it again without hesitation. It was well worth it and the birthday boy was very happy.

I think that the space is beautiful. The vibe is good. Here is where it breaks down, Service is way to fussy. I felt like an ATM machine. The sommelier put her card down on the table, and kept prodding me to order wine. They actually looked over my shoulder and made suggestions while I perused the list. Second, the steak. It's not that great. Too salty. Gene and Georgetti, Joe's Stone Crab and Erie Cafe makes a better steak. Third, I didn't like the sides. They were way too salty. I guess to get someone to order more wine! If I am in another town, I might go here. In Chicago, no way. There are far better places.

This place tries hard to be excellent but doesn't quite make it. Think a cross between Gibson's and the Cheesecake Factory. I ordered the Waygu ribeye and another member of my party order the bone in ribeye. They were about the same things except the Waygu was 2x the price. Our table was seated 30 minutes late. The atmosphere lacks any real authenticity. Your dinner will be pretty good but you can do better somewhere else.

So this is a chain. Totally loved the attentive service... Hour long dinner and probably seen 5 faces. Why? Who knows. We split the ribeye steak which was cooked medium rare & the Brussels sprouts were overly salted. Great inside dining space & lighting. Then again, steakhouses rarely surprise/ impress me. Try their blackberry bourbon drank.

Vegas was the first thing that came to my mind when I walked into Del Frisco's. Large and spacious dining area with a three story wine cellar. I liked that the tables were not on top of each other and gave room to breathe. I found the decor to be clean and the lighting to be perfect. The wine list was extensive and grand, which is to my liking. They had at least two sommeliers at your leisure. My girlfriend and I started our meal with the extra-large stone crab and cheesesteak egg rolls. They were out of the medium claws, which I would have preferred. The extra-large were great and were served with a horseradish type of dipping sauce. The sauce had nice kick. The egg rolls were deep-fried and stuffed with meat and cheese. These were alright. I was a bit surprised to see this type of appetizer on the menu. I will try the tuna tartar and the steak carpaccio on my next visit. I ordered the bone-in strip and my girlfriend ordered the bone-in filet. As usually, the sides were a la cart. We chose the asparagus and wild mushroom risotto. The steaks were brought out to us on pipping hot plates. We were asked to cut out steaks to ensure the temperature was cooked to our liking. My steak was delicious from the first bite to the last. It had a nice crust and was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. I left the plate with just the bare bone. I will have to admit that I wanted to suck the bone dry. That's how good it was. My girlfriend's filet was a bit under cooked. They took it back and raised it a temp. The steak was buttery with great flavor. The service was spot on. The reason? There were so many people on the floor and with specific jobs. Our server took our order, brought out the wine and check. Everything in between was done by other people. It made for a smooth flow. I will be heading back on my next visit or look for one of the many other locations in other cities.

The Staff at Del Frisco's are absolutely wonderful. This was second return to Del Friscos and both times I had large parties. The first group was for 12, I celebrated my 30th Birthday. This year was a party of 20 as I celebrated my 32nd Birthday. The day of my reservation I recieved a call from Dana Ranaldi upgrading my reservation to a private dining room. It was an absolute surprise and a awesome gesture. Once we arrived we recieved A1 service from Kiera along with the other waiters and waitresses. They were more then patient dealing with such a large group. They answered every question and granted every request. You guys are doing an awesome Job! And I will definitely return again and again and again. The food is delish! If you're thinking about going try the lobster mac and cheese its like chewing on heaven. Thank you again to the entire staff at Del Frisco's. My second visit was more than remembrable is was unforgettable!

Beautiful place. You will not be disappointed. Great service too. The only downside is the valet. They just don't have it together. Be prepared to wait for your car much longer that you normally would.

Beautiful restaurant and wonderful service! Very large wine selection. Perfect location on oak, really enjoyed sitting on the patio. Will definitely return. Only turn off was the valet. Asked me which car was mine and handed me my keys and said "there"....so I had to walk to my spot. Tacky, yes but I know they are not del friscos employees

Important to note: It will be quite loud. As if the din produced by a few hundred hungry diners is not enough, there is also music playing. Knowing this fact, do not come here at 7:30 on a Saturday if you are expecting an intimate or even cozy atmosphere. I believe quite a few of the low reviews are referencing the noise levels/ lack of ambiance. You have to know what to expect when dining at one of the newest hotspots in Chicago. On Oak Street, no less. The food and cocktails were fabulous. Try the VIP- clementine vodka infused with pineapples for 14 days... Absolutely brilliant. The crab cake proved to have nary a filler with delicious flavor. The bone in filet and my husband's tomahawk wagyu couldn't have been done better. Highlighting the side offerings, the lobster mac'n cheese and brussel sprouts were well excecuted and generously portioned.

I'm a fan. From the lunch steak salad to the steak dinners, I've always had a really good steak here. Note the steaks are heavily seasoned (as a opposed to Gene and Georgetti's) and every time I've eaten here, I've had a perfectly cooked stea and it was piping hot. The atmosphere is modern and spacious over two floors so the place it huge. A newcomer to a crowded Chicago steakhouse market, this has to be in my top 5 right now.

We were here two years ago and it was amazing. I don't know what happened today, Valentine's Day.. Yes, the hostesses were dressed provocatively, as others have said. I can rock a short dress, but even I know when it's too short. We waited 45 minutes for our table, I made reservations a month ago. We got to the table and there was cold bread with no knife to cut it. Our appetizer plates were dirty, at least for 3 of the six of us. I've worked at a restaurant and it seemed as if they threw them in the washer without rinsing them. I don't like someone else's lettuce stuck to my plate. We had to ask for more utensils multiple times. The mashed potatoes had wayyy too much pepper on them and my steak was just ok. They didn't seem to get anyone's right. Also, there were guys in there with baseball hats, I'm surprised they allowed that. Then again, Their hostesses outfits explain it. The bathroom upstairs was also filthy with no toilet paper. This restaurant used to be a 5 star for me. Now it's just a 3 star. I won't be back, which makes me sad cause I was very excited to go again this time.

Having dined at Del Frisco on Oak 3 times, I have found the service to be deplorable; the food mediocre and way overpriced, and the very expensive wine pours to be no more than 4 oz.. Overall, I suggest you not even give thisCalifornia makeover a chance, unless you accept a gigantic tab for inferior food, service, and minimal $$$$$ wine.

This is a review I didn't want to write... My wife and I have patronized Del Frisco's for years; dining in New York, Dallas, Houston and Chicago, in groups ranging from 2 to 25... with tabs running from $500 to 5 figures. That should tell you we've been more than satisfied with both food and service. Over this last weekend, my wife, son and I had reservations for my wives birthday... our 2nd visit to the new Chicago location. Before the evening had ended, my wife and I had simultaneously said to each other; "I can't see my self going back." Wait Time is an easy 5 Stars... On both visits were were seated at or before our reservation time. Ambiance gets 3.5 Stars, but only a bench seat away from 5... The space is large, great table spacing, floor to ceiling glass-walled wine rooms and it's beautifully appointed. On a busy night expect the buzz of the room... but the only conversation you'll hear is at your own table. I'd have given them a solid 5 Stars in this category except for the fact that the booth were we seated in left me (at 6'2") sitting with the table at chest height and had me looking up to shorter guests seated in chairs across the table. I never felt comfortable. Service earned 4 Stars... Ashley was a delightful 5 Stars but she had a table of 8 seated just minutes after ours, so between the logistical challenges of our seating times and her other tables she struggled to be attentive. Food was the downfall at 1 Star... The salmon was excellent... even a piece reheated the following day was a great. Both fillets were cooked to a perfect medium rare, but were dry. My 6'4" son ate half. The 3 BBQ'd shrimp were rubbery and left on the plate, only a half of one eaten. For sides we had: - The mushroom risotto -The mushroom flavor was overshadowed by rosemary - The corn - Amazing - Button mushrooms - on point, just sauteed in butter - Brussels sprouts - soooo salty we couldn't eat them My son had stolen a glimpse of my $827 receipt and commented, in the cab headed home, that the meats we barbequed the night before tasted twice as good. I had to agree. Although, you see some high ratings above, the 2 Stars is driven by the food. Next stop... Chicago Cut Steakhouse.

My wife took me here for my birthday and I'm certainly glad that she did. I left satiated to say the least, as each item we selected from the menu was excellent in every way. The wine list is simply massive. If you enjoy a wide variety from all corners of the globe, Del Frisco's has you covered. The steak was cooked to perfection; as I tried an entrée which provided three variants of toppings; yum! To top it off, they even brought me a pieces of exquisite cheese cake, on the house, in celebration of my birthday. I would definitely go back, as the service was great, atmosphere chic, and food delicious.

We sat at the bar. I wish I could remember the bartender's name. He was really tall, but awesome. It was almost closing time on a Saturday & he sat & engaged us even though it had been a super busy in earlier. The oysters we had weren't great, but I would go back for the staff.

We loved it here! The space is gorgeous and the service was top notch. Definitely worth a try. We ordered the cheese steak eggrolls (amazing), beet salad (ok), Del's Salad (good), 8 oz filet (ok- not the best), Corn (yum!), mashed potatoes (yum! but small portion), and spinach (egh - barely touched - not that creamy). We then finished with the lemon cake - which even though we were stuffed - almost finished entirely - so good!! We both ordered the same steak cooked medium, mine had no pink, almost well done - and the other was almost cold in the middle. Based on some other reviews it seems like the inconsistency in the steak is common. We also tried to order "medium plus" and we weren't allowed. Sort of frustrating. Also - our sides came out late. So half way done with steak before they came over to notice. They definitely made up for it though - manager came over to apologize and they didn't charge us for app or dessert. Customer service was great. This place is great for groups, a nice dinner, and they even have a great bar with lots of room and first come first serve high top tables. I'll be back!

An unnecessary overpriced addition to the long list of fine chicago steakhouses. I shared the bone-in Waygu ribeye. One would expect the flavors to be exploding, but they were just solid...nothing special. Sides were the highlight but not at the price point.

My friends and I debated about what steak place to take my husband, an Argentine asado master chef. Del Frisco's leaves a considerate amount to be desired. The good: 1) Prompt seating, albeit not what we requested. 2) Decent food. Some of the sides were, IMHO, better than the Pre Fix menu. 3) Ambiance. The not so good: 1) We had a reservation for 8:30 on a Friday night for the 4th of July weekend. Upon arriving, we were told our "view" both would not be available for an hour. We are not really picky, so that was ok. However, the place never really picked up, with several booths available even though we were told it was an hour wait. 2) Selection of whisky limited. I realize this is only important to whisky drinkers, but most that I know are not going to settle for something that is not on their radar. The cocktails were a bit pricey, but yummy none the less. One must simply take into consideration these factors when consuming alcohol. 3) The waitstaff service was a bit behind. Several members of our party commented that more people were polishing glassware than attending the table. At one point, my foreign raised and educated husband began piling dished in a corner of the table in order to hopefully attract the attention of one of the gossiping waiters. I anticipate traveling to Chicago more, but in my recent experience, I would not classify this place above an Outback Steakhouse in Hattiesburg, MS.

We had a really bad experience here with another couple. I am only giving it two stars, because the food is ok and the actual space is beautiful. Other than those two reasons, the place is pretty much a disaster. You can throw a dart at a map of Chicago and be within a few blocks of a better steak house than this. First off the service was brutal. Miscues all night. Any one issue could have been forgiven or forgotten, but at this price point it is inexcusable. Bad service from the time we checked in until we left. The total time we were here was almost four hours! We started at the bar to get a drink while they "set up the table". It was early and they were not busy. After we opened a tab and received our drinks, the hostess sat our wives. That's fine, but how about bringing the tab to the table or waiting until it is paid? As I closed out the tab, they sat the wives in an area way back in a side room. After paying we walked around looking for our seat. Its a large space and we did not see them. No one showed us where they were or asked if we needed help. We went back the hostess stand and waited in line for the hostess to show us where be seated. 2nd major issue -The drinks suck! We finally sat down. At this point the drinks were gone. Finally able to order another drink after about 30 minutes of waiting... Not really an issue as the drinks are not good. My wife ordered an Old Fashion. It was not mixed right and we had to muddle the fruit at the bottom. On another order I actual had to send back a Bourbon drink, as it was almost all seltzer water and completely wrong. It was one of the worst drinks I have ever tasted. Yes it was comp'd, but I don't remember a time getting drinks this bad. One of our party that doesn't drink asked if they could make a mock tail. The waitress explained that they could not and said they could mix some juices together. WTF? How hard is it to come up with a non-alcoholic drink? I guess if your bartenders are this bad, it's a challenge. 3rd issues-The wait staff is clueless and just looking to pad their tip. From the time we sat down to ordering it took almost an hour and a half. The waitress pointed out the most expensive items as the best. I knew they had a "Prix Fix Menu" and had to ask about it. She stated "oh you should have got the menus". Nope. Glad I knew about it or it would not have been an option. I had to wait another 15 minutes to get the "Prix Fix" menu. The other party we were with had some food allergies. Many restaurants ask about this when making the reservation or checking in. The waitress could not answer basic questions about the menu. It took about 20 minutes to have two other people, other than the waitress, answer basic questions. 4th issues- No support staff. Many other restaurants at this price point will have a waiter assistant. Not here. She was running all over. Not one other person took an order, asked if everything was OK or if anything was needed. We even joked about the dirt dishes stacking up, as bus boys were scarce. Of course the manager never stopped by. I guess this poor service comes from the top. There were some other issues, but I guess you get the picture. We were asked about desert, coffee, and after dinner drinks. We just wanted out at this point. Received the check and saw the damage done. About $200 a person. Totally not worth it. Now that I wrote this down, I'm giving them one star. We left and went to the bar at the Four Season. Avoid this place and go to one of the other high profile steakhouses in Chicago.

My mom and I made a reservation for this restaurant for her birthday and had the worst experience ever. The story is long so I'm gonna hit he highlights. First, they have us horrible seating. We made the reservation for ten and needed 12. They said they could accommodate us and suggested that we all sit a separate tables who would do that for someone's birthday. We immediately felt the discrimination. It felt like they did not want our business. The assistant manager or manager on duty was very rude and I got the feeling that he wanted us to say we would like to leave. After they refused our business in which I'm not joking that they refused our business. We decided to leave did we receive a thank you no. My aunt went downstairs and spoke with the hostess as she looked on her computer she saw so many other places OPEN that they could sit us. We new then that someone was ver racist and discriminated against us. I am not the one to pull the race card but this definitely was the issue. We found out the manager on duty was not the restaurant manager. He started his shift as we began to exit the door. We spoke with him and found seating for us. How coincidental! We refused and told him that we needed our parking validated for all of the guest. He did so! It was my first time visiting the space. I am curious to see how they would treat my boyfriend and I if we attended. However, I do not recommend people of color to visit this space because it's obvious that our money isn't good enough. I guess something's never change. If you have had a different experience please let me know I will be surprised.

I live in the neighborhood, and this was the second time I have been here. the first time was just for drinks on a weekend, which was a lot of fun, great atmosphere in the old theatre, good crowd, nice selection of drinks. this second time, it was a Thursday, and I made a reservation in the dining room. when I was the first to arrive, the hostess waved me to the bar to wait. i circled the bar twice and could find not a single seat. i went to the hostess and asked if i could sit at a high top table which was empty but no chairs. she said that she would have some chairs sent over. i waited exactly 2 minutes. that was it, chairs sent over. sommelier came next with suggestions on wine while i waited, and sent me a couple of wines to taste. when my friends arrived, we opted to stay at our table in the bar to eat. we liked the atmosphere, again the crowd was great, the service was great. our server gave us some great suggestions on what to order, and we loved all the suggestions. the food was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. the manager came over to the table to check on us and thank us at one point, which was appreciated. it is a bit on the pricey side, but for the service, the food, the atmosphere, it was well worth the price. this will definitely be one of my regular spots.

when i was making the reservation, i requested a window view and we got it. score! although i'm not really sure how normal size americans can fit into their booths. (we're small asians.) we ordered their shellfish plateau. most were great except for the oysters. whoever was the shucker was cracking pieces of the shell. everything else was cooked great - fish and steaks. it's a place for celebrating something - like loosing weight (your wallet will be much lighter afterwards).

I've been almost everywhere in the city and I'm amazed it took me so long to make it to Del Friscos. My wife and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary here Sunday. Our reservation was at 7:15, I walked in at 7:00 they asked if we'd like to sit now or have a few drinks at the bar first. We elected to sit down. Our Servers were prompt, took our orders, made recommendations, and were extremely polite and knowledgeable. I ordered our appetizer the cheesesteak egg rolls (amazing and I'd highly reccomend trying them) the prime pair with the 8oz filet medium rare and the crab cakes pair. My wife ordered the salmon. Compliments to the chef that was the best "medium rare" steak I've ever had. The crab cakes were spot on. My wife was extremely pleased with the salmon. Our table was cleaned and cleared consistently throughout dinner and I never had to even once ask for even the smallest thing like water refills. Dessert was next and also very good. I would really like to thank the entire staff there for making our anniversary dinner a wonderful experience!

Overall comment: One of the best steak experiences I've had in Chicago. Our group was a double date of two married couples. Location is great. Wonderful window shopping on Oak Street (stores were closed at the time of our 7:45 reservation), and a long block away from the hustle and hustle of the Viagra Triangle. Great curb appeal. Entrance and street level interior are elegant. Elevator or Escalator to restaurant level. All done up very well. Start to finish we had great service. Staff at door was welcoming, hostess kept track of us at the bar and without pressure or rush, bartender was awesome and helpful. Waiter was attentive and informative. Food: The food was as expected. High quality and great tasting. Up to Chicago's elite steakhouse standards. I can't say it exceeded Keefers or Gibsons (my two favs), but it certainly held up to them. I even asked for a specific end of the rib for my del monico Ribeye, and they delivered exactly what I expected, with perfect temperature. The other members of our party had a similar experience. Ambiance: Probably the one thing that makes Del Frisco's stand out from its competition is the elegant but not stuffy decor. This is a great place for a high class business dinner, romantic date, or any special occasion. Really is a great compromise between most of its competition. Quieter and less snooty than Gibson's, Mastro's or Chicago Cut, and clearly less snooty than Prime House. A tad more elegant than Keefer's, and much more than Chop House or G&G. So, while it doesn't win in my book in every category, Del Friscos gets five stars from me due to the fact that they generally nail it in all categories. I had no complaints about any part of our evening.

Not only the best steakhouse in Chicago but the best location as well. The steaks come out piping hot and cooked to perfection. The sides are huge and perfect to share with the table. An amazing wine and cocktail list offered with a very knowledgable staff to help you choose the perfect drink. If you don't want to eat in the dining room, the bar is always packed! Enjoy the food, drink and social events happening nightly.

My wife took me here for my 30th birthday, we had been here before but they really out did theirselves for this visit. Our waiter Joshua was phenomenal, he had a very personal touch to his service. We really appreciated how accommodating he was, we felt completely relaxed and at ease...he even offered to print our tickets for the show I forgot to print at work. The ambiance is top notch, it would go toe to toe with some of the nicer restaurants in Las Vegas. The crab cakes are delicious almost all crab meat, so good! They cooked my ribeye perfectly (medium rare closer to rare than medium), which is sometimes a problem I run into at other places but they nailed it. Previously Chicago Cut steakhouse was my favorite but it was these factors plus a finishing touch - our wait or sent us a HANDWRITTEN thanks you and mentioned very specific parts of our conversation and it really capped off the personalized experience we had at Del Frisco's. Highly highly recommend this fantastic restaurant experience.

Just got home from Thanksgiving at Del Frisco's The environment A+ The host A+ Waitstaff C- Very Nice and presentable but an obvious lack of training going on here! Food F- GO TO GIBSON'S instead!!!!!!!!!!!! My plate was cold and cooked to the wrong temperature the presentation was sloppy. It looked like a plate you give to the dog. My partners medallions were all cooked different temperatures. Rare doesn't agree with him and one of those pieces still had LIFE!!!! Moooo... When you are paying $40 for a plate of food you expect some care in the preparation. Things seemed to take a very long time. The bottle of Champagne we ordered probably took 20 minutes. It wasn't even really busy. For less than the price I could have had 5 star service and outstanding food at Gibson's or Lux Bar/ which are my favorite local places for steak. There was a man in a chef coat walking through the restaurant glued to his smart phone maybe that took priority today. I ended up eating dessert for thanksgiving which for me is unforgivable. This was the only time I've been free from cooking on this holiday and my Thanksgiving was RUINED! Beyond disappointed and the more I think of it the angrier I get. I'll be going to bed hungry tonight after going to Del Frisco's Another flash in the pan for society wannabes and self important people with bad taste. NO THANKS I will never go back.

I don't write many reviews but had to write about the lobster mac and cheese - it's probably the best mac and cheese I've ever had. We had some leftovers as other folks we were with didn't eat much of it, so I took it home and ate it for breakfast the next morning - it was that good. 5 stars for the lobster mac and cheese hands down. The 4 star rating, however, was for the filet mignon which I had with the mac and cheese. It was good, but not great, hence the 4 stars. Good choice if you're looking for an upscale restaurant for a special night out. If you do go, get the lobster mac and cheese, you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary here. The service was impeccable. Mike took very good care of us and gave us the most delicious piece of lemon cake for our anniversary. My wife had king crab legs and I had the 16oz. bone-in filet. The filet was cooked to perfection(mr). We shared a side of lobster mashed potatoes that were absolutely to die for. The portions are huge, well worth the money. I would definitely go back for another special occasion! Thanks for an amazing dinner and for making our anniversary one to remember!

Do: -Stick to the wine list. It's amateur hour at the bar. After receiving a complete failure of an old fashion, they followed up with another substandard bourbon cocktail. Not anywhere near worth the $14 tab/drink. Wife also had two strikes on martinis. After $60 worth of bad drinks, take my advice and stay away from the bartenders. -Order some apps. Oysters were fresh and presentation was decent. Cheesesteak eggroll was an interesting experience. Don't: -Order the scallops or veal chop. Both came out overcooked with the scallops lacking flavor and the veal was far too chewy. Poor execution would be an understatement. -Tell them it's your birthday. They provided us a slice of lemon cake for my wife's birthday but added it to my tab. Cake was not very tasty (a bit dry), but the lemon frosting was flavorful. One of the managers did apologize and removed it from our bill. -Have this place at the top of your restaurant list. It's average at best and not any where near delivering the type of food quality and experience that you would at expect at this price point.

At first glance, this seemed like a place that would not earn the much coveted Dave's five star review. I had a sneaking suspicion that the food would be outstanding, but I was suspecting the service would be quite stuffy. I was right about the food but I could not have been more wrong about the service. My filet was outstanding! I could not have asked for anything more. We had some lobster macaroni and cheese to go with our meals. I would go back for this side dish alone as it was off the charts! Our server really surprised me. He completely violated the stereotype of the upscale restaurant server. He was very friendly, welcoming, warm, and sincere. Plus he did an outstanding job of taking care of us. The prices here are more than I am used to paying for a meal but for special occasions it is an excellent location for a fantastic meal, I will be back unless I hit the lottery or get promoted to CEO than I will be back quite often

The atmosphere here is very cool and very trendy, and the service was fantastic. We enjoyed a New Years Eve dinner here. We had a fun celebrity sighting of Brandon Marshall and another Bears player (Devin Hester, I think... he wasn't facing us), and they were enjoying a peaceful dinner with significant others, without disturbance from other guests. The service was fantastic and the steak and side orders were all absolutely fantastic. The risotto was definitely noteworthy. I'm not a big steak person myself, but my steak medallions were excellent and I can't believe I ate the whole thing! However, the best thing about this place, and what I will without a doubt go back for as I can imagine the intense cravings that will come... is the LEMON CAKE. I don't even like lemon cake, but this was perfection. So moist, so tasty, so perfect. I can't wait until the day I am lucky enough to eat it again.

LOOOVED the service and the FOOD. So happy to have gone and will go back! Happy I went on Michigan Avenue and entered Del Frisco! An older crowd, with the classy steak house feel. As you enter, you are greeted with smiles and asked if you want your coat to be put away. When you go up, you get a view of the city in the bar area and are introduced to all the cocktail specials at the bar with recommendations! I ended up getting 'The Breath of Fresh Pear'. Strong and delicious, I took my time drinking it. Definitely acquainted with friendly people and I love starting my dinner date night that way. It was a cold weekday night but it was decently packed so I recommend reservations but I would also try stopping by for happy hour if I worked in the area to wind down and have an appetizer and drink. They have lovely booth seatings which makes the ambiance very romantic but we also saw large groups of people perhaps work parties gathering together. We were going to sit at the bar because we wanted the PRIME df Burger which was only on the bar menu but we decided to sit in dining. Our waitress explained the menu in great detail asking us what interests us. We told her about the burger and she talked to her manager, and we were able to order it. I was amazed! Only because it was her doing it complimentary and it spoke a lot about the well care and service they have for their customers. And, we would have two waitresses coming around asking if we wanted any help. The burger was delicious and so was the fried calamari. If you are a calamari fan, don't pass this up. It has a kick of spice and sweet and we swallowed it down with the burger. I wish we had room in our stomachs for desserts and my fiance scheduled his bachelor dinner here one night and he felt bad because it ended up being a play off bulls game but they got 11 boys at the bar watching the game with the sports TV. If you care about service, good experience, and are thinking of a place to take a date, this is the place to go! Thanks Del Frisco! I may join your eclub :)

Another bloated contender enters the Chicago Steakhouse Wars? Not so fast, this one may end up holding its own. We decided to try Del Frisco's for Christmas Eve dinner. Normally, I do not like to review a restaurant under 2 circumstances: (1) grand openings; and (2) holidays. The reason in simple, even the best joints go through some growing pains and holidays are generally a tough night all together. Those aside, we really enjoyed DFDE. For starters, the restaurant is situated on the second floor of the old Esquire Theater and the place is beautiful. I expect that Mastro's will be one of DE's chief rivals but Mastro's is too dark and too noisy. We had a great booth that overlooked Oak Street. The decor was bright while still retaining the rich accents you come to expect at a Chicago Steakhouse. Thus, 2 thumbs up on Decor. For food, we started with the cold shellfish platter. It is a big ticket item at around 80 bucks for 2, but it was a holiday splurge. Honestly, I have had these big seafood towers at other joints and DE was middle of the road. The presentation was on a huge glass dish loaded with ice, which made navigation of the items a bit of a challenge and made the presentation look somewhat sparse. The oysters could have been a bit more plump and the shrimp and stone crab were a tad overcooked and seemed to have been cooked long before service. The king crab was excellent and the sauces were nice though. Redemption came shortly thereafter, however. The bone-in filet was outstanding. Let me take a moment to comment on service. Our server was absolutely top notch. Here is an example. The menu does not offer the steaks with any type of preparation: bernaise, au poivre, bordelaise, oscar, etc. When asked about anything, the answer was YES OF COURSE, WE CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT. I respect chef driven restaurants that are loath to change anything, but sometimes its refreshing to hear the word YES. I got my bone-in file oscar and it was magnificent. The lobster mac was the best I have ever had (move over Mastro's) and the brussel sprouts were spot on. Dessert was DE's signature lemon cake and if you like all things lemon, you wont be disappointed. In the end, if you are looking for an impressive steakhouse with great decor and service, you cannot go wrong at DE.

I have been there three times now. Honestly, if you are in the mood for steak, this place is fresh and current, not typical of the typical steak house you will find in Chicago. The staff appear to really enjoy what they are doing and are very knowledgable and trained well. The wine list extensive. The crowd has a different vibe than you might find at competitors, ten to fifteen years younger and more local. The space is flawless, big, but you do not feel it and you are not three deep just trying to get a drink at the bar. In the old Esquire theater and a great addition to our neighborhood!

An absolutely stunning interior. Very modern-chic ambiance. We shared a dozen oysters and they were good but a bit dry... We also shared a filet and sea scallops and they were both fabulous. My only concern was the lack of professional from the hostess. She was short on the phone while making a last minute reservation and just as edgy when we arrived.

    (4)
  • Rich G.

I'll preface this by saying I'm not a huge fan of steakhouses, I generally don't think they are worth the price, but, we were taken here by someone for a special occasion. The food was very good, the mushroom barley soup was outstanding and my filet was great. My only complaint was the valet, i know the valet really isn't part of the restaurant, but, don't use the valet! Driving home afterwards, the car smelled of cigarettes. At first I thought the guy just smelled of smoke and it transferred to the car, but, after leaving the windows open in the garage for 2 days we went out again and noticed a cigarette butt on the floor mat. That is inexcusable!

  • Alan H.

We went opening night. Food took a bit long, service was very good as they had tons of staff there. the decor is fabulous and the space huge. The food was just ok. I thought the steak could of been hotter throughout the steak. My biggest complaint is that it's 10 to 15% more money than any other place in town including Joes seafood. I think there prices are imported from NY city. It has a ways to go for the food to be as good as Joe's and even at that price it's still a bad value compared to Joe's that being said great location and great job redecorating the theater. We probably will stick Joe's and some of the steakhouses for now and give it another try down the line.

My wife and I went back with some family this time. The porterhouse I had on this visit was even better than the filet I'd had on the first visit. The banana bread pudding dessert was life-changing...it was hot, cold, sweet, salty, crispy, soft, layered in all the right bites. It was a perfect dessert. So, have a great steak and save a little room so you can share a dessert with your table.

I'm not sure how all these top-notch Chicago steakhouses separate each other from one another. Del Frisco's was a very good dining experience.....somewhere between 3.5 & 4 stars. Food - One steak & one seafood dish came out perfect; The Wagyu steak was a bit undercooked (we sent it back & they fixed it) & the 8oz filet was a bit overcooked. Sides were good but on the small side. Crabcake was excellent. Shrimps are big. Dessert (bread pudding & cheesecake) were excellent Service - wonderful Price - Not cheap but it is a steakhouse, what would you expect. Prob similar prices to other Chgo top-notch steakhouses. Room - Nice ambiance; cool space. Drinks - extensive wine list

Place was really fun to eat at! The Place is unbelievable. The decor is amazing and the food was great. I recommend for a date night or a group of people to have a nice upscale dining experience. I would go Back The Tuna was amazing along with the Bone in Filet. Try a bit of everything. A little pricey... This place is wild and would go back for sure

This was my first time here and I would definitely come back. I was part of a large party of 10 and everyone was happy with their meals. My wife and I split a delicious crab cake that was all meat with no filler and a bone in rib-eye that came exactly the way we wanted it. What I thought was unusual, but actually quite smart was their request that I cut it in half to see if it was done to our satisfaction (I am guessing being part of a large party that it could be quite disruptive if someone had to send their order back. The steak was perfect but for me the real winner was their lobster mac and cheese which was by far the best I have ever eaten.

Went here for a birthday party with a large group. Our host ordered all the appetizers, salads and sides - each guest just selected an entree. I think we got to try everything on the menu. Our food was fab!! We had recently just dined at another famous and newer Chgo steak place and Del Frisco's blew that one out of the water. The service was great and the food was amazing. The calamari and crab cakes were to die for. We tried all the salads and I loved them all - the blue cheese wedge and avocado with something like a green goddess dressing and bacon = yummy!!! I selected a filet trio for my entree and was not disappointed; although, I could barely eat half of just one of them. The sides were all very good - great lobster mac and cheese and giant onion rings (so good). To me, the prices here are right on par with every other steak place in the city but I like Del Frisco's alot more than most because of the decor and environment. It is a very romantic looking and feeling dining room and I wouldn't feel bad dropping x amt on dinner because here because of the feel and service. I think this is a perfect date night spot and if you are looking for something special ask for a seat by the windows. I took away one star because we were seated near a wall that must have had a large vent overhead and the air was blowing on us really hard. All the ladies in the party were freezing and it seemed to take away from the great night for some people (not me but yes, I was cold). The staff tried to help but they couldn't get it turned off and we sat through it as best as we could. We ended with some fab desserts - one of the best and lightest cheesecakes I've ever had and chocolate cake. Looking forward to going back here one day!

After trying a few times to get a reservation...my friend and I finally scored an awesome table on Saturday night! The ambiance is stunning! From the foyer with "E-S-Q-U-I-R-E" lit-up along the wall, to the high ceilings and gorgeous bar...great job renovating the old theater. We waited in the bar and had the house signature Pineapple Martini! (so yummy...that we tried to re-create it the next day). Our sever, Ray was PHENOMENAL! Very knowledgeable and made some delicious recommendations. Their wine list is amazing and HUGE! He recommended a wonderful Pinot Noir....we inquired about a few different $40-50 pinots, but he kept pushing for $70-80...it was ok, we took his recommendation, but I just thought he should have gotten the hint. I just find it hard to believe none of those in that price range that I asked about were good. I've served tables before, I know that game....but he actually lost the "game" because instead of us getting two $50 btls, we only got one $80...but I digress. We had the crab cakes ( best.in.my.life .ever.), 22oz rib-eye, seared ahi tuna, side of lobster mac and cheese, onion rings, and bread pudding. I was so stuffed, but every bite was worth it. THE absolute ONLY reason I have not given them a FIVE STAR review is because...I made the 5:15 reservation on OpenTable, but later realized that time was going to be a bit too early. I called the restaurant and asked to push to 6-630. They said no immediately, but said they could do 5:30. We took it. We arrived right around the reservation time and still had to wait 15-20 minutes before being sat, even though the restaurant was literally almost fully empty. Once we sat down...we stayed until a little bit after 8-815, and the entire time we were surrounded by several empty tables. Maybe they had several last minute cancellations, or no-shows, but I think they definitely could have more than accommodated a later reservation for us. Overall though---excellent meal, excellent ambiance, excellent service. I will be back!

My wife and I had a wonderful evening here last Saturday celebrating our 5th anniversary. Very flavorful bone in strip steak and my wife enjoyed her scallops just as much. We were so full but wanted to try the lemon cake, so, we took a slice for the road. Have not tried all of Chicago steakhouses but this one is high up on my list.

This place was simply amazing... I really enjoyed our meal.. We had a group of 8 and we went crazy with food and drinks..three hours and we had apps, seafood platters, steaks, desserts, three bottles of wine..Everything was amazing and the two or three servers were on top of it.. when our Entrees came out, 6 waiters surrounded our tables to help serve.. The place looks great and taste even better.. Much better , newer, more trendy than Gibson's.. Prime all the way...

My parents were coming in for a visit. So I decided to pull out all the stops and book a reservation at Del Frisco's. First let me just say, I told my Dad I was taking him to a steak house and I think he expected rustic, gun-totin- cowboy heaven, which he likes. My mom on the other hand wasn't too impressed with the idea of another steakhouse. She was however impressed with the decor as I was. We weren't expecting to see a gorgeous chandelier in the middle of the room! And no cowboy hats in sight! But who cares about how the place looks, really. Let's talk steak. Medium-rare steak. Why is that so hard for restaurants to get right? It's how most people I know like their steaks. It's how I like mine. It's how Dad likes his. It's how streak was intended to be. Our server brought mine and actually waited for me to cut it open. She wanted to be sure I got what I ordered. Genius! Same for Dad's. Cooked to perfection. They tasted amazing. Tender and delicious. Can't say enough about it. Other things we had that Day: Dels Salad- Delicious Wedge Salad-Delicious Shrimp cocktail-Amazing Bacon wrapped scallops-Almost made me think I should have ordered that instead.....almost. Brussel sprouts-yummy Lemon cake- Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Yes it was expensive. But my parents were impressed. And I have to admit I was damn proud of myself too. All in all I give this place 5 stars because it's beautiful, the food is amazing and the service was exceptional.

I always enjoy when buildings are re-purposed to bring new life into a structure. Not only did Del Frisco take a historic movie cinema & turned the building into a high-end steak house, but they also give you that Old Chicago style from the second you walk off the street until you leave by elevator that would have made movie patrons of the 1930's proud. The elegant atmosphere is a mix of low theater light, a graceful chandelier, and wine bottle walls, not to mention the large original windows looking out on to the street. Definitely, a restaurant for romance or special occasions...leave the children at home. While I did not have a reservation, the hostess ensured I got one of the best seats in the house. All the staff were attentive and friendly while keeping that level of professionalism one expects from such a high end restaurant. My server was especially pleasant to talk with as she took valuable time out of her duties to talk to me seeing that I was dining alone on my birthday. That is the quality of service one can expect here. Management has set the bar of excellence high here, and their staff makes it look effortless in achieving. I ordered the Bone-in Prime Ribeye, baked potato, and asparagus which all came in generous proportions. First, it is rare to still get a quality steak on the bone and this one was cooked to perfection with a delicious mix of seasonings that enhanced the steak's flavor, not over-powering. The baked potato came with a zippy garlic butter on the side while the crisp asparagus was topped-off with almond shavings. The glass of Shiraz I had was smooth & complimented the steak to a tee. I don't throw out 5-star ratings often, but Del Frisco's is an easy decision.

I absolutely love Del Fresco, but unfortunately, they have the WORST valet parking ever. I had reservation tonight, and when I pulled in, the valet parking were so rude, I ended up getting in my car and drove away. This is the third time I leave there because of their rude valet.

As a party of two with no reservations at 8pm on a Friday, I wasn't expecting much. I was completely surprised. The remodeling of the old Esquire Theater into the beautiful restaurant space is beyond amazing. While some reviewers have complained about the service and number of tables, Del Frisco's handled the tempo of a very busy Friday with ease. We walked up and sat at the upstairs bar and were greeted by Fritz. Fritz was highly knowledgable, and easily steered us through the menu while he mixed our excellent VIP cocktails. We started off with the carpaccio, accompanied with a crab cake. The crab cake was exceptional; not too much breading, and a bold flavor. The carpaccio was good, but not as good as Mia Francesca's. The steak was as good or better than most of the top choices in town. I especially appreciated the texture- something that is a difficult task in a medium rare steak. We also had the bacon-wrapped scallops, which were cooked to perfection, followed by a lobster mac-n cheese accompaniment. An addendum: I usually take the server suggestions. Fritz was extremely professional and 'made' the meal. The level of service, suggestions about quantity and pairings (he poured a glass of wine to go with the steak) were spot on. Del Frisco's is going to be a force to be reckoned with when you can be a Friday walk-up and get excellent service. Hopefully they'll do a repeat when I take my son for his birthday on Saturday-but this time I'm making a reservation.

This place is very cool. Probably coolest spot in the city. For the high prices, the food comes up a little short. But the wine list and the vibe make up for it!

The steak here is a 3, the service and ambiance a 5, so I'm going 4. I stopped in for lunch and, despite it was lunch, I really wanted to try their steak. I sat at the bar and spoke with the bartender, Johnny, who was very pleasant. Apparently they have a wine made for the restaurant (I know Gaucho does this as well) so I wanted to try it. It was quite good. I got the filet medallions. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, but the filets just weren't as melt in your mouth as filet can be. Not that they were bad, but top of the line steakhouses should have the gorgeously tender filets. Since I wasn't getting a fattier, more flavorful cut, I was expecting some more wow factor. However it comes with beans and these smashed potatoes. The potatoes were seriously amazing. They were garlicky and scalliony and just yummy. Hopefully next time I go for dinner and can try a larger steak.

I'll try to keep this review short as there are so many others: 1. Food is excellent for a steakhouse, steaks are just great, and ours were cooked just as requested. They do ask you to check before you eat it which is good but if you need it cooked more after it'll probably ruin the steak some. 2. I like the environment a lot, it is modern, beautiful, and just a really nice place. Some money was spent on renovating it for sure! It is probably the most modern place you can go for steak right now in Chicago but it is still comfortable. 3. Service was excellent when we went but it was a Sunday night so they were not too busy. They did kind of cram everyone into the same area of the restaurant though still which made it louder even though it would have been possible to spread everyone out more (we were next to a family with couple kids here, but they were not too bad). 4. For specific food we had this visit: - the crab cake is awesome, 99% crab, with creamy sauce of course. - the beef carpaccio appetizer isn't your typical Italian version - instead has some crustini, dijon on the meat, cheese/capers, but it is still light and good. - filet medallions (special) is a great way to have a few pieces of filet, regular filet was great with a nice crust on the outside. - potatoes au' gratin was excellent (very cheesy) and mushroom risotto was good and had a lot of mushroom. - the drinks are great, VIP was tasty and pomegranate martinis. - wine selection is amazing, pricey, but not too bad - and decent by the glass choices. - we had the molten chocolate soufflé with vanilla praline ice cream and raspberry puree, pretty dang awesome of course. very nice of waitress to add a candle for birthday and offer to take a picture. Overall, it is an excellent place and you'll want to go back multiple times to try more menu items. Only suggestions/fixes: * when we sat down, the table was presented nice, but the booth had crumbs all over it. partner had to wipe down the booth himself with his napkin before sitting down! you expect a place where you spend 300-400 for two people to be perfectly clean and ready as well as notice that and take care of it. * don't cram everyone into a space if there is room, notice the type of people you sit next to each other. * turn down the music if you hear the crowd having to speak so loud to talk to each other - music is cool change for a steakhouse but a little loud at times.

Went here last week since we had read such good reviews. Made reservations, sat in a cute window booth. This place is beautifully decorated and lit. I felt a little under dressed in dark jeans and black boots as most people were business casual. Lots of business men and women enjoying steak and wine after work on a Thursday. Food was awesome! I am not a huge steak person so I got the mushroom soup, which was very good. Definitely get the Cheesesteak Eggrolls as an app and the Molten Lava Chocolate Cake for dessert! Both are fresh and literally melt in your mouth. We will definitely be back. Would be five stars but our server was a little awkward and uninterested.

Awful experience!!! It's a NO go for locals. Overprices, overcrowded (especially the terrace), and insufficiently trained waitress staff. Food is OK.

We met some friends here for a drink and ended up staying for dinner. We were glad we did! The food here was very good and the service was great. The restaurant is in the old Esquire Theater on Oak St. From the street, it looks small, but when you walk in, it's 3 floors. The floor is very large, with high ceilings, but it felt much more modern than a typical steak house. We were there on a busy Saturday night, so the hostess suggested we head to the 3rd floor bar (the 2nd floor bar was packed). We were glad we did! There were tons of tables. The bartender didn't make my drink how I wanted it and he was sooo nice about fixing it. We also asked if we could stay for dinner (after being told on the first floor that there was NO WAY they had open tables because they were SO busy that night), they were super nice about adding us. Not sure about the inconsistent service, but it worked out for us. After we sat down, service was great too. Our waiter was very attentive. There were some things that came out wrong, but he fixed them or removed them from our bill, it's a new restaurant after all. Our table loved the seafood tower, though it's very pricey. I also liked my entree (tuna). Everything was very good - they have a few kinks to work out, but we would go again. Plan to drop a ton of cash though... 43/365

Had dinner there this past monday and it lived up to all the great talk I've been hearing. The wine list is great and we started with a bottle of cab. The strip I had was cooked perfectly and love when the plates are piping hot! side of mushrooms were great and full of flavor. We had the ahi tuna also and it melted in my mouth. The marinated shimp were good, but not great and the carpaccio was good too. The steaks and the restaruant itself are the show stoppers...amazing design, great crowd and service was on their game. Love the outfits too! :) I would rank this up there with some of chicago's better steak houses...

This was probably the worst food and the worst service I have ever had, anywhere. They have a bunch of kids waiting on tables who don't have a clue as to what service should be. We waited an hour for a simple lunch with no bread (or anything) to nibble on while we waited. We asked for some bread and were told they did not have any. I had ordered the shrimp cocktail and fried oysters. The shrimp were rubbery and overcooked and the oysters were a disgrace--soggy bread coating and greasy. Everything came lukewarm. Tell me, when there are only 5 people in the dining room why can't the cook get the food out hot? How busy can he be in the kitchen? My husband had the lunch special of lobster bisque and the small filet. The meat was tasty but dry. The lobster bisque had no lobster or even fish essence. Just a bowl of gloppy soup. During this entire 2 hour episode, there were only about 5 other people eating and everyone was waiting. No one was eating. There were as many waiters but no one came to say when our food would be there or could they get us anything. They just walk around doing nothing. Where is management? Is anyone watching what's going on here? Do you want repeat business? There are so many better places to eat with better food and professional service in Chicago. Why would you want to eat here? Go elsewhere. Trust me, this place is a joke.

I came here yesterday for my family birthday dinner and I had such a wonderful experience. The service here is excellent. From the bus boys, the waiter, to the manager. Our waiter gave great recommendations on what items to get and informed me on popular items. I had the crab cake and calamari as an appetizer. The calamari had an Asian twist to it which made it awesome. For the main course I had the special which were 3 cuts of small filets each one prepared a different way. Can't remember exactly which was what, but one was an Oscar that had crab on top of the fillet. I shared 4 sides that consisted of corn, lobster Mac n cheese, lobster mash potato, and onion rings. My favorite was the lobster Mac n cheese and corn. Also the onion rings are HUGE. Dessert was a delicious banana bread pudding that had a candle on it for my bday. It was amazing! Later I had a slice of lemon cake brought out to me which I had wrapped up for later. That also was very good. On top of the great food the decor inside was beautiful. I sat in a booth right by the window which gave a nice view of oak st. I recommend calling ahead if you have a specific spot you'd like to be seated at in the restaurant. Overall I had a great time and really enjoyed the service. I will definitely be going back soon.

Dined here last night with 5 friends. The decor, the location on Oak, the hostesses, music, food and service - top notch. I have been a long time fan of Mastro's, however have found a new favorite in Chicago. Pam was our waitress and she was exceptional. She was friendly, attentive and on her toes all evening. The food was to die for. Our table entrees varied from Marlin, Lamb, Filet and salmon - we all left full and looking to go back. The lobster mac and cheese was perfection. The cheese steak egg rolls were phenom. You can't go wrong with the filet. The service was outstanding. At one point there were 4 staff members assisting our table with our meals and side dishes - you won't find this anywhere else. Great spot. I will be back soon for the holidays.

I hadn't heard much about Del Frisco's but received a gift certificate and so my husband and I decided to give it a try. We have eaten at most of the steakhouses in Chicago except Del Frisco's so it was time. One word pretty much sums up our entire experience - WOW. From the second we walked through the door and checked in with the hostess, to the amazing server we had (Jessica) to the incredibly welcoming and friendly manager (Nick), to, of course, the delectable food, this place knocks it out of the park. We had the calamari and cheesesteak eggrolls. Both amazing starters, great portion sizes and felt like a nice transition from the typical shrimp cocktail or seafood tower apps we usually get at a steakhouse (both of which are also available at Del Frisco's). Steaks were cooked perfectly. Side dishes (mushrooms and king crab gnocchi) were amazing- best mushrooms I've ever had. When our desserts came out (banana bread pudding and lemon cake) we weren't sure how we could fit anymore, oh but we did, and we were glad we did. My husband said the bread pudding was the "best dessert I've ever had" and the lemon cake was out of this world. The manager even came by to tell us how to store it to make it that much better the next day. All in all, one of, if not the, best experience we have ever had at a steakhouse in Chicago. We will definitely be back.

I've now been to Del Frisco's in Chicago four times and I can say for sure that from a strictly food perspective, it is my favorite steakhouse (I've been to Gibson's, Maestro, Chicago Cut, Chophouse, Erie, Morton's, Bavett's, Smith&W, Gene&Gs and Primehouse, etc.) My typical order for two is as follows: New York Strip Medium Rare Crab Cake Del's Salad with Avocado Dressing Two Sides, usually one potato dish and mushrooms or two veggies. *Lemon Cake As much as I feel like a traitor to Chicago for saying this, the steaks at Del Frisco's are superior to Gibson's; they just taste better. Maybe it is the way they are prepared, or spiced or cooked, but they're better. The crab cake is also amazing. There is virtually no bread crumbs in the thing making it all lump meat. fantastic. The Del's salad (a house salad with one piece of thick-cut bacon) is very refreshing and enjoyable thanks to the Avocado Dressing. Sides are sides. All the potato dishes are great but, not for any kind of health conscience individual. Also I will say the mushrooms are great but not as good as Gibson's. Lemon Cake. I put a * beside this because even though it's hard to have any room left after a large steakhouse meal, you need to save just a bit for this exceptional treat. It's top five when it comes to desserts in the city, so much that I always cut it in half at the table and bring the extra piece to a friend later on, who then ends up begging me to go to the restaurant! The atmosphere is large and in charge, think Vegas but slightly more elegant. The 18,000 bottle two and a half story glass wine TOWER that centralizes the room is very impressive. Overall, I love it, but I'm worried that they may have gone slightly over the top in their budget. In all, Gibson's still has the best "scene" especially with there piano bar up front. It's the most famous restaurant in Chicago and a great classic. Other places like Gene & Georgetti's and Chicago Cut are exceptional too. However, the food at DF's is superior, and if you're planning a bachelor dinner, milestone birthday party or special night out at a more modern Steakhouse, it's gotta be Del Frisco's! *Don't skimp on the Lemon cake!*

The food and wait staff were great. The decor is pretty cool. I came here on Saturday to celebrate my husband's birthday, I reserved a table in December; I arrived right on-time and it took them over 25 minutes for them to sit us down. The hostess was rude. It was 8pm and tons of people were drunk already. One guy was singing really loud, another woman kept falling and stumbling into people, she even fell on me. Another guy bragged about how he can buy the whole place out. I'll probably come back again for lunch because the food was so good but not on a Saturday.

I took my husband here to celebrate his birthday last week and we really enjoyed it. Its been a tradition that I take him to a different Steak house each year. I don't if I would put this as my favorite, but it was a great dinner. Before I get to the food I would like to say that the service provided by Mike was definitely 5 stars! He was very personable and attentive. Now on to the food: Since I was planning on filet anyway, I went for the prime pair. I did Wedge Salad- great, I am a fan of the wedge and this did not disappoint. Mashed Potatoes: No complaints here Filet done medium- it was cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully the only thing that knocked this from a 5 to a 4 is that part of the steak was over seasoned. I am a big salt fan and this small part was even too salty for me. Otherwise I loved it. Crab Cake- This was good, jumbo lump crab with hardly any filler, a nice sauce served with it. The only knock I give the crab cake is the red peppers (sweet, not hot) in it. Living near the Chesapeake Bay for many years, I am more of a purist and don't feel peppers below in crab cakes, but it was still very good. My husband had: Mushrooms for his side- these were great, well seasoned and paired perfectly with our meal Tomahock Veal Chop- Fantastic! This was 5 stars! We paired it all with a bottle of Shea wine from Oregon (one of our favorites) and then even though we could barely move, Mike brought out a cheesecake for dessert. The atmosphere was nice there and we would definitely return.

The first thing I noticed about Del Frisco's was that you needed to use 2 escalators to get to the main floor. Because this was a pre-wedding dinner, we were ushered into a private room. The setup of the tables in the room were spaced quite far apart causing there to be a bottleneck of people at the entrance into the room and made it difficult to enter the room. I had the filet mignon and asked for it to be cooked medium. Instead of bringing me a medium steak they gave me a steak where the outside of it was cooked. but the inside of the steak was quite rare. When I asked them to cook the steak some more they were most happy to oblige, but when the steak was brought back it was only a little bit less rare than it was initially...but I ate it anyway, and it was quite delicious. Due to my plate being away to re cook the steak I missed the sides, so they had to bring me sides after everyone else, which was fine. Overall the atmosphere was super swanky, and classy, and they had pretty good steak/food, but i can't in good conscience give this place more than 3 stars because of them not cooking the steak how I asked it to be cooked.

What a fabulous birthday celebration for my husband and family. Our waiter Chris is what put the evening over the top. Very attentive to our needs. Started with a seafood tower sampler, followed by bone-in ribeye, sides galore, and finished with the lemon cake. Food service was impeccable and all the flavors were amazing. Thanks for a great evening and making our family feel special!

On the Gold Coast surrounded by Stores like Tom Ford and Top Shelf. Amazing ambiance great staff. Our server Baroom was awesome. We were on a time crunch and he handled our requests well. We ordered Pan seared chicken breast Steak (melted like butter in my mouth and Scallops with capers and a lemon spinich sause (delicious) this meal cane with salad and a side I chose the house salad it came with a creamy avocado dressing and I picked the n ashed potatoes I ordered lobster tail to go... The drinks were perfect. The lighting was perfect. Our table was under a three tier chandelier. Our party included 4. Wonderful evening......

Dinner with visiting parents. I had the rib eye, which was very fatty, but tasty. My boyfriend had the strip which he raved about, and my mom loved her filet. My dad was not impressed with his ribeye, he didn't like the pepper crust. The tuna tartare was subpar, the carpaccio was good. Drinks were good, but strong. It was a perfectly fine meal, but probably not quite up to the price.

Being the wonderful wifey I am, I wanted to take my hubby (then fiance) somewhere top notch for his big 3-0 bday dinner. We made resos for Del Frisco's and got there a couple minutes early. From the moment you walk in, you feel fancy schmancy. Everything is extremely swanky, with huge chandeliers and sparkly things everywhere you turn. We took the escalators up and were asked to wait for a table (even though we had resos for weeks). I didn't want the crazy Cuban to come out of me, so we made the most of it and took a seat at the bar. Following a previous yelp tip, i ordered the VIP cocktail. AMAZE! Once I was done, I started giving the hostess my evil eye (you know the one angry Latinas do) because 30 min had already passed. She must've realized who she was messing with and quickly sat us down by the window (as the reso requested) near the old "Esquire" sign. After snapping a couple pics of my birthday boo, we skimmed through the menu and were greeted by an extremely friendly server. We stuck with our cocktails and ordered the fried calamari. If you've ever had the bang bang shrimp from Bonefish Grill, i could swear they borrowed the same toppings and just threw it on top of calamari. It was delish. We then ordered the lobster mac to share (sooo goood!), seared tuna (for moi) and he had filet mignon (I don't remember the ounces, the thing was massive - TWSS). He said the steak was in the top 5 of his life which made my heart flutter as I knew i made the right choice. We had a dessert for his bday but I can't remember what it was for the life of me. I'm so happy I picked this place to celebrate. Aside from making me wait a pretty long time, I was very fulfilled with fancy Frisco's.

Went there shortly before closing which I guess is a big no no because the place was very slow and they were getting ready for some event the next day. I always heard Del Frisco's was all that but after having a similar experience in NYC I have come to the conclusion that Del Frisco's is nothing more than an Outback Steak House with a really nice wine list. What passes for an old fashioned here is disgraceful especially considering the $16.00 price tag, definitely not becoming of the type of place they think they are.

I was so exited about this place when I find out few years ago that they are going to open one in Chicago. I have been there three time and the food is alright but the serice was very poor. The last time I went there was for my friend's b-day and I insisted for us to celabrate there because I had high expectation and I believe that that is a great place for celebration. When I made the reservation I emphasised that we are celabrating a birthday and ask if they can bring a cake with a kendle at the end of the dinner. During the dinner I went to the host station to ask the hostes if they can remain our server about the birthday and the cake with candle. However, when we order the desers they forgot about the birtday and the desert was brought plan. Also, our server was more then nessesary talkative and flertish and some of us felt very uncomfortable. I can say that this place has amaizing interior, good food, and very poor service.

The atmosphere is a very nice blend of elegance of days gone by with a modern flare, it is very easy to carry on a conversation. The hostess was friendly and not put off with the fact that we did not have a reservation. My only knock was the hostess failed to pull out the table to allow easy access to our table, forcing me to squeeze into the booth side of the table and become very friendly with the couple dining next to us. Three other tables were seated in the same row and she basically had a blank stare while EVERYONE STRUGGLED with sitting down. This was a huge job fail!!!! Our sever was nice and did not rush us between courses and achieved a nice balance of present but not pushy. I ordered a blackberry bourbon cocktail which was so smooth and tasty that I was sorry to see an empty glass. We ordered a Caesar salad and the blue cheese wedge and both were cold, fresh and delicious. We chose the 12 oz filet and bone in rib eye both medium. Here is where it gets dicey, and I should have become suspicious. The server insisted we cut the steak in the middle to ensure it was cooked properly, but then just stood there when my jaw dropped to the floor. My steak was no where near medium, NO WHERE NEAR, it was raw in the center. Thank goodness the plate was hot which allowed me to continue to cook the steak but it basically was cold and a bit dry from being hacked into pieces in order to finish cooking it. The rib eye was basically the same way but my husband is a bit more tolerant of rare meat. It also had some funky kind of seasoning on it which provided a bit more kick then I like. The potatoes au gratin included bacon and were good but I do prefer it without the bacon, best part was it was cooked to perfection, tender but not dry. We were not in the mood for dessert but the selections looked decent. The jury is out whether I would return when in the mood for a steak. But it was a decent experience.

BEWARE. Pay cash if you can or keep the bill on 1 credit card and quick pay each other. The food is excellent but if splitting the check and paying with a credit card keep an eye on your statement, I was charged twice (different amounts) for 1 meal (no drinks, except iced tea). This place isn't cheap, so that's quite a hit. It was a large group of us, and he said he accidentally ran my card but would void it, guess it never happened and while reconciling my statement, caught the error.

All I can say is WOOOOOOWW! So glad that my date was able to drag me away from the window at Christian Louboutin next door! I've actually been here multiple times. Del Frisco is one of my favorite places to go for steak in the city, and my favorite place to take clients and guests that I want to impress. Having worked in the industry for the better part of a decade, I'm a sucker for good service. This place delivers. The food is amazing, the drinks are perfect...I could go on and on.... I highly recommend the filet trio and the pork chops. Chased with a classic martini with blue cheese olives :)

My buddies and I have been to most (20+) of the steakhouses in Chicago, and this was next on our list of places to try. It's in the old movie theater, so it's a little strange to take escalators up to the restaurant... but, once you get past that, the dining room itself is beautiful. Unfortunately, there were a few areas where Del Frisco's fell short in our comparison to other steakhouses in Chicago: (1) My friend ordered their "VIP" cocktail, and said it tasted like watered down pineapple juice. Maybe it was just a bad pour or an off night, but he wasn't convinced there was any alcohol in it. (2) Of our 3 steaks, one had to be sent back because it was under cooked. He ordered medium rare plus, the waiter talked him down to medium rare, and it came out on the rare side of medium rare. There's never a good solution for the lull that follows as 2 of us eat while the 3rd watches and waits for his meal. (3) Wine list is out of control and skews heavily toward the $500/bottle range. Not asking for $25 price points at a steakhouse, but $50-$75 should be more abundant than abandoned. (4) Along the lines of (3), this was far and away the most expensive steakhouse we've been to in Chicago, where most a la carte steaks were in the high $50s and low $60s. With that said, my steak was good, their sides were very good, and the service (notwithstanding #2 above) was better than most. We just think there are better options, both for the food and especially for the value, in this great city.

Hands down one of the best dinners I've had in a long time... Shrimp cocktail, asparagus, lobster Mac, and creamy gnochhi all for apps. All were amazing- for entree I had the prime rib on the bone 22oz. Very flavorful, tender and juicy. Charred perfectly with tasty spices added. They have an ENORMOUS selection of wine as well including a big wine tower in the middle of the venue that you can see through. My favorite cocktail was a tie for the champagne topped with chambord- and the Woodford ginger blackberry cocktail.

This place is absolutely beautiful, and the service was great. The server is well trained enough to know that you walk past the table when you see your quests eating (something that seems to be an issue at other places). I had halibut & it was delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his steak. The only minor thing that bothered me was that we waited 20 minutes to be seated despite having reservations. Definitely coming back!

I have been here a couple of times. The first time that I went it was on a Sunday, I was kind of surprise of how empty the restaurant was, especially for the high demand of it. I would say this is such a good place for a first date (on sunday), the atmosphere is just great. Then I went on a Saturday and it was crowded, but what I really liked was that regardless of the day, the service was impeccable. The food is amazing, and so are drinks. The wine cellar is amazing!

This place was a bit of a disappointment. Came in for lunch last week with colleagues. Interior - very nice, well designed. Event rooms are really cool looking, and the bar is fantastic. Absolutely LOVE the large "Esquire" lighted letters, echoing the former Esquire theater which used to be in this location. The outdoor patio also looks fantastic, and I can see coming back here for swank summer drinks. Oak Street, it's predictably swank and sleek - the interior design is gorgeous, very impressive. The staff was incredible. Charming, friendly, attentive, nice and good looking! The wine selection looked incredible. While I didn't have any wine at lunch, those wine rooms look like something I'd like to lock myself in for about a week and discover new vintages. They might frown on this behavior, but hey - a girl can dream. The food. Hm. Big prices. A $57 Porterhouse. I had the $25 "Business Lunch" and there were a few quirks. Lobster Bisque soup. Probably my favorite thing, I should have stopped at this, and would have had a great lunch. The taste was fabulous, with many GIANT chunks of lobster. The presentation was a little weird. The soup is served in a small saucepan on a plate. Now, this is how every single woman eats soup at home, right out of the saucepan. So, seeing this presentation in a swanky restaurant was a little weird to me. Hm. Or maybe I'm the only one that eats soup right outta the pan, and no one else thinks this is weird. I'd have preferred a nice bowl. But, the taste of the soup was so good, I'd definitely recommend that. Yum. I could go for a bowl right now. The steak. With the "Business Lunch" came a 6 oz. Filet. I expected an amazing, delicious steak. This would have been a nice little chunk of meat for a lunch portion, and would have been delicious had it been cooked medium rare, as I requested. What I got was practically well done, and a little crispy on the edges. Yes, I could have sent it back for a do-over, but A. at lunch with limited time, and B., at these prices, I expect it done right the first time. SO, that is where the stars fell off. Included with the steak came seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes. The vegetables were yellow beans, green beans and broccoli, which I love. All way overcooked and sort of mushed together. The mashed red potatoes were good - they just weren't great. Maybe not buttery enough? I know this place just opened and maybe needs to work out the quirks. However, I've got trepidation about ever ordering a $57 Porterhouse when they can't get the Filet right. I can see myself coming back, possibly. Maybe for the Steak salad, which one in my party ordered, and that looked great. However, in a city filled with steakhouses, they have some catchup, 'cos my steak was just not all that great. Carry on.

You know what..Was excited to check out this place but I didn't leave wowed. You walk in and the place is absolutely gorgeous and you're thinking " Wow, I treated myself." Appetizer was amazing I gotta say though. It was a calamari dish with chili flakes and just a hint of sweetness. I could have ate that all night. On to entrées. My wife ordered a filet mignon and asked for medium well. You'd think a steak house would know the color it should come out. Came extra well done. I ordered filet medallions. Wanted medium, got well done. The staff and the manager were great, but I was underwhelmed food wise. Gonna try one more time, but for now Stetsons and Chicago Cut have my biz.

We came here for Restaurant Week, and was not disappointed. The place feels young and trendy. All the staff is dressed to the nines, and yet we were seated next to a long table of maybe 10 kids or so for what looked like some possible sports event. So, there's quite a diverse mix of clientele that dine here. I'm not sure what happened as we were seated at our table with a missing chair and place setting, but that got quickly remedied when they realized it. Our server was really nice and friendly and helpful with suggestions. I had the crab cake, apple walnut salad, 8 oz. filet mignon, and the dessert mini trio consisting of a chocolate mousse square, lemon cupcake, and a cheesecake. I liked the steak best, which is good because it is kind of what the restaurant is all about. The side dishes are on the pricey end here. My boyfriend's fries were $10 which can be 1/4 - 1/5 the cost of your steak which seems pretty ridiculous - talk about a mark-up for potatoes! I believe Coke is also $2 a can and so no free refills on that. I may come back again for a special occasion, but I've been to too many steak restaurants here in Chicago that have delicious steak as well to frequent this one again and have to pay extra for my side dishes.

Amazing!! The food is incredible here! And you what else? So was the service!! My sister and I arrived at 5 pm knowing we did not have a reservation; it would be hard to get a seat if we went any later. To our surprise, we were seated right away. Our server's name was Alex. We received the most excellent service from her!! My sister and I split the evenings special: three 4oz. filet mignon prepared three different ways. We also split the lobster mac and cheese. Oh my goodness! Pure delight! Great ambiance, great food and best of all, great service! I definitely recommend!

I went to Del Frisco's for my cousin's graduation lunch and I will first and foremost say that the service was EXCELLENT. Our waiters Joey and Jessica were amazing and very friendly, they are probably one of the only reasons I will consider returning. My major problem was...the food! I ordered the Prime Ribeye Milanese and was told it was a "breaded steak." Maybe I'm just not not a meat conniseur, but I was assuming that meant lightly crusted with garlic bread crumbs. But what came to my seat was literally a Country Fried Steak. Not only was it dry, there was absolutely no flavor. I switched plates with my father who ordered a Filet Mignon, that was decent but still no flavor! My cousin had a VIP drink which was delicious, so I'm pretty sure the only thing bringing me back is the customer service and the bar selection. Other than that...the food was no bueno.

Went there for restaurant week. Had a reservation but it still took us 30 minutes to be sat. Having said that the food was perfectly done. The best crab cakes, hands down. This places give Gibson's and any other Chicago steakhouses a run for their money.

We took our friends here for a special night out since they hosted us at their house. The decor is really nice, with unbelievably high ceilings. You would never know that the restaurant is this big from the outside. Service was good. My husband wanted a bottle of Belle Glos; they only had one bottle left. We drank it and ordered the much less expensive Meiomi after that, but we were charged for another bottle of Belle Glos, which my husband had to point out to the server. My filet mignon was good, not the best I've ever tasted, a little overcooked. My husband and our friends all liked their dishes, though husband said that the lamb chops were inferior to those at Capital Grille because they were too fatty here. Two bottles of wine, a few appetizers and salads, sides, and two desserts plus coffee and tip...$700. Ok, so we obviously did not eat here for the value, but *gulp*. The entire experience was fine; what really made the night special was the company. Glad we went to try it, but I don't see the need to return.

Del Frisco's never let's me down, even far from home. The staff was super nice and helpful. The food is always off the charts. I had asparagus here for the first time and it's cooked to perfection! I didn't have a steak, I had the grilled chicken and it was very juicy and definitely something to try if you aren't feeling a steak dinner.

Came here for a bachelor party dinner. We wanted to watch the basketball games so we decided to sit at the tables near the bar. They accommodated our huge group, and our server Samantha was awesome. Everyone's food was great. I had the sesame crusted ahi tuna which was perfect since I didn't want to eat heavy. Vegetarians can get pasta so they won't feel left out. A lot of their sides have bacon, so make sure you ask if that's a problem.

I gave my mom a 75th birthday dinner here. IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING!!! The wait staff was attentive and very accommodating. Dania, the event planner was top notch! I didn't have time to order flowers so Dania went out and pick some up for me!!! Oh and the food was delicious. I will most definitely return. If you're getting married , planning a party this is definitely the perfect venue!

So I waited till this morning to review bc I was so full last night that I wanted to give this AMAZING place it's due!!! From the Manager Nick , to our server, to the overwhelming amount of staff that serve you all the way down to the valet guy - AMAZING (and pricey but expected for all that you get). We ordered the 22oz Rib Eye, the 12oz Filet & the Veal Ceal Chop...all cooked to perfection & plated impeccably. The sides were lobster mash potatoes, lobster Mac-n-cheese & spinach - one better than the other!!!!! Top that off with a ginormous lemon cake & a banana cake w a bit of Moscato wine - IM DONE!! Like I said - AMAZING.

Another restaurant week date night. A night to dress up and leave the kids w a sitter and have some adult conversation. A few friends had recommended the place. And we were seated promptly in front of the wine cellar, which was stunning. It might have also been nice to have been seated with an Oak Street view. Our waiter was nice enough. Not very friendly. But I'm sure they get sick of all the less swanky people trying to be swanky but pinching off the restaurant week menu. Probably mad that he won't get more than a $25-30 tip. But he still won out because it was a cold February Wednesday night that may not have drawn people in anyway with it NOT being restaurant week. We don't always both order off the prix fixe menu but tonight we did because $44 is an incredible bargain for 3 courses with steak. After falling off our paleo wagon for this occasion we ate the WHOLE loaf of bread shamelessly. We ordered our steaks medium. The hubs got the filet and I the medallions. And in the frantic hustle of restaurant week they were a bit over. The server, probably in hospitable service routinely asked if we could cut into our steaks to see if they were prepared to our liking as she hovered over us. They were over. But still extremely tender and still delicious. The appetizers of a Philly cheesesteak eggroll and the crab cake were delicious. But it fell flat with the dessert. It sounded like a great combo. A chocolate mouse. Lemon cake and a cheesecake. Little samples that looked (and tasted) like they were bought from the same vendor as the ones served at the great China buffet. Pretty much sucked. The lemon cake was soooo sweet it tasted like a boxed cake mix. Again, we sacrificed our paleo lifestyle this night so the meal should have been worth it. The restaurant still wins. Because we'd probably go back despite the dessert and BLAH service to give it a second chance. That's what restaurant week is about... To get a taste of the high end restaurant and to get us to return.

Perfect for a special occasion if you are a steakhouse person. My husband LOVES steak, and has eaten majority of the nicer steak houses in Chicago, and he rates Del Frisco's at the very top of Chicago Steakhouses. The 5 stars is for impressing him (I'm not a steakhouse person really). The bone-in filet was incredible! No frills, just a very quality steak lightly salted....WOW. Service was very good, almost too much....a few days later we got a personalized letter in the mail from our server saying thanks for coming and included details about the few things we talked to her about at the restaurant.

My first time at the one in Chicago, but definitely the same quality you come to expect from a Del Frisco dinner. The dining room was open, yet private at the same time and the staff friendly and fun. The triple steak special was excellent and a great recommendation by our waiter.

Must try: The Lobster Mac n Cheese (omg) & the Calamari ( sauce is to die for ) Gave it a 4 star rather than a 5 because we found a piece of hair in our dessert. They were kind enough to replace it and take it off our bill.

It pains me to write this. Such a beautiful restaurant in a great location but there was just nothing good about our visit (except the company). Wine - for such a huge restaurant with wine everywhere - they had a very small wine by the glass selection 2 of each kind and only so-so options at that. Glasses sat empty until we had to request a second (and we were drinking slowly so there wasn't an excuse). We split a wedge salad - the salad was delicious except they split it so that the diner I was sharing it with got the nice dark greens and I ended up with the entire bottom of tight bitter greens. Odd and not well thought out. The taste was great but it would be difficult to mess up such a simple dish. Dinner - I got an 8 oz filet - the rest of the diners got the bone in ribeye. Mine was blue cheese crusted. All arrived and all had to be sent back undercooked. ALL. This was shocking that not a single one was cooked correctly. Those with the ribeye seemed to like theirs but my filet oddly tasted like fish. Yes. How they did that I have NO idea but it pretty much had an awful flavor. It was tender but it just had an old, off and fishy taste. Never experienced that at a steakhouse and hope to never again. The asparagus side tasted fine but was oddly 'old school' not in an impressive way. There were almond slices on top which seemed a little bit senior citizen to me. They added nothing. The potatoes were so-so (potatoes chateau I think they were called). So all in all a very disappointing experience. Very. Had just been to Bavette's a few months ago on last visit to Chicago where everything end to end was spectacular. Expected this to be at least as good. Sadly will never go back. Too bad - a great opportunity wasted for them to not have the kitchen in order for such a beautiful spot. So much potential.

Del Friscos's impressed me. Some Chicago steak purists may disagree because DF's is a "chain" but I've had nothing but amazing experiences at this place. First, the venue is about as cool as you can possibly get. The place is a definite stunner. A see and be seen type venue. Awesome date spot if you're looking to impress and don't want a stuffier Gibson's, Morton's etc. The steaks were amazing. My medium rare bone in ribeye was to die for. It was cooked to perfection. The lobster mac was right up there with the best I've had. The bottle selection in their three story glassed in wine cellar is incredible. Get ready to exercise your debit card. Overall an amazing experience for me two separate times. Enjoy

Not impressed. Came here once for a dinner with a group of friends; waiter did not know the specials of the day as well as was not educated on their wine selection; steaks came out very dry and not per our request. Sorry Del Frisco, I was really looking forward to the experience but was very disappointed. They are much better options there.

Crab cakes=excellent. Steak=mediocre and undercooked. See what's wrong here? Better steakhouses in the city, for sure. Ambiance is nice. Love the Esquire sign downstairs, but it doesn't make up for the underwhelming meal.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Del Frisco's, but I have been converted! This place rivals any steakhouse in Chicago and has top notch service. One of the managers (Jared) made sure that our meal and experience was first class. We had 8 in our party, so I got to try a ton of menu items. The most memorable items were crab-cakes, Philly cheese-steak egg rolls, onion rings, lobster mac and cheese, au gratin potatoes, wagu mega steak, and ahi tuna. Every menu item I mentioned will leave you in one of the most epically memorable food comas imaginable. The staff is also not skimpy with the drinks and they have a mega wine selection. I only had a couple bites of desert, because I was so disgustingly stuffed. The lemon cake is not to be missed. I know that it's tough to get a reservation on the weekends, but IMO this place is well worth the wait. Joe's and Mastro's now has some serious competition!

The evening didn't start out the best since out reservation was at 8:30 and we didn't get seated until 9:10. The place was really crowded so I guess I didn't expect to wait so long after the reservation time. We started with the crab cake. It was delicious and the sauce was perfectly paired with it. The oyster on the half shell was ok. The oysters were not well cleaned and there was quite a bit of grit still on the oyster. They were also still attached to the shell. Very disappointing. We ordered the trio of filets that was on special. 30 minutes after we placed our order we will didn't have entrees. The manager came over and apologized and then my filets came out inconsistently cooked. I ordered medium rare. One was medium, one was rare and one was medium well. I won't return and I am seriously disappointed in the experience. I would expect more for such a high priced steakhouse.

Truly can't say enough about this place, I honestly had one of the best steaks in my life here, and believe you me, I have had some GOOD steaks. Waitresses are smokin' hot, service is incredible, and most importantly the food is BOMB.COM The waiter accidentally spilled red wine on two people I was with at dinner the other day and management was extremely professional about it. The manager gave my friends her number and gave my friends the contact info for the restaurant's dry cleaner and said she would pay for it. On top of that, they took a bottle of wine off the tab. This place will not disappoint, would go back in a heart beat.

I've been to this restaurant about 5 or 6 times since they opened. However I wont' come back again after a major issue with their valet causing our group to get a parking ticket. I reported the issue to the manager who agreed that they would have it paid and apologized. Months later nothing... Besides the above issues, the service and food are on/off, different quality from good to not so good depending on the day of my visit. I believe service can trump errors and this place dropped the ball.

Just the sheer size of the elegant wine tower in the middle of the restaurant makes you thirsty and eager to try glass after glass of the impressive wine selection available. On the night of our visit, I didn't try their wines but I did enjoy a cocktail to kick off the evening. Their 'VIP' cocktail combines Svedka Clementine Vodka infused with fresh Hawaiian pineapple. It seriously was amazing and tasted like fresh pineapple juice with some zing! To start off our meal, we had a sampling of a few of their signature appetizers. A popular appetizer is their crab cake which had a zesty Cajun lobster sauce. The fresh lump crab was sweet and tender, making it a nice contrast to the slightly spicy sauce. Another appetizer we tried was their Cheesesteak Eggrolls. Filled with beef and a blend of cheeses, these eggrolls were a great dish and we enjoyed the sweet chili and mustard sauce it was served with. The next time we come for a visit, we will definitely be ordering their Stone Crab Claws. It's Stone Crab Claw season between October 17 through May 15th so take advantage! The sweet, firm crab claw meat is not widely available, only appearing on the menus of select restaurants outside of their native Florida. Stone crab claws are flown fresh from the Florida Keys, one of the only regions where they are available. Once harvested, the claws are cooked fresh on the boat, then promptly chilled - never frozen - and then flown fresh to the restaurants. Del Frisco's offer these Stone Crab Claws as a shareable appetizer, as a main entree or even add them as an accompaniment to the wide variety of steak and seafood items on their menu. Claws are cracked fresh to order and are served with a traditional Dijon sauce and fresh hot towels. For our salad course, we had a Blue Cheese Lettuce Wedge salad and a Beefsteak Tomatoes & Sliced Onion salad... both of which were fresh and perfect to prepare us for our steak entrees. Then the steaks arrived. The Baron had a bone in Prime Strip Steak while I had a bone in Prime Ribeye. Wow. These were both amazing with the peppered crust seared right into them. The chef also provided a variety of optional sauces offered for those who want a special touch to their steaks. The sauces included a Bernaise, Horseradish Cream, House Steak Sauce, and Bacon Fig Jam. To accompany our steaks, we were surprised at the table with an entourage of waitstaff along with the head chef. We were presented with a buffet of side dishes that included their popular Lobster Mac & Cheese, Roasted Shaved Brussels Sprouts with Bacon, Spinach Supreme, Maque Choux Corn, and Lobster Mashed Potatoes. All of them were so delicious but our top 2 favorites were the Lobster Mac & Cheese and Maque Choux Corn. After this amazing meal, we made sure to save room for dessert - I'm so glad that the Baron has a sweet tooth lol! We left it up to our lovely server, Pam, to surprise us and we were presented with their Lemon Doberge Cake, which consist of six layers of light and airy buttery cream cake that's separated by a tart lemon glaze filling between each layer. To put it over the top, the cake is then coated in a lemon buttercream frosting. Heavenly!... but that's not all. We also were served a bananas foster bread pudding with a ridiculously addicting butterscotch caramel sauce. Both were fantastic and we enjoyed them completely.

Look... so I've been to plenty of steakhouses, and I absolutely love the Del Frisco's in Philly... but this place was a disappointment, more for the experience than the food. Yes, the inside looks like a neat space, as with all Del Frisco's - but pretty much from the moment we walked in, I got the impression that we were being rushed out the door. The good: Great Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. Great bone-in filet. Everything else was pretty underwhelming and disappointing. I think it started with the service. I'm not against the whole "two server" idea when I'm eating out - but a little more of a coordinated effort would have helped. Additionally, with two servers - I can't imagine how it'd take 4 trips between the two of them to find me some olives for a martini. I also struggled to understand how you can mess up a martini order. Me: I'll have a matini. Waiter: Dirty? Me: No, thank you. Waiter: Blue cheese olives? Me: No, thank you. Pimento olives, please. Martini arrives. Extra dirty. Blue cheese olives. A side of olive juice. Do I get a replacement martini? Nope. They take the extra olive juice back and leave me with the rest. Odd. Three requests later, at least I get some real olives. By that time, I'm apparently more than halfway through dinner. Anyways... so I'm drinking this martini and appetizers come, with dinner right behind it. Cheesesteak egg rolls are amazing, as expected... My bone-in filet was delicious. But literally all appetizers, bread and steaks came within about 10 minutes. Now I love to eat, but unless I'm eating Chick-Fil-A on the way to the airport, I typically like to take more than 13 minutes from start to finish of a dinner. Maybe it's asking a little much, but in my opinion, if the check has already been delivered and I'm still on my first martini - something's wrong. So yeah - I'm not quite sure where I place the blame, but I think the two-server system just wasn't working that night. All I know is that this was probably the first dinner in a while where I've had less than 2 martinis, and had a steak without even a sniff of wine.

Really, really enjoyed this experience. We both ordered salads (a wedge and a Caesar), which were both wonderful. The bread served upon was flaky and delicious; almost croissant-like. Our filets came out on super hot plates - but still both medium rare, just as we had ordered them. The crust on the filets was wonderful - crunchy and complementary to the flavor, not overwhelming by any means. We also ordered a side of potatoes and corn, both of which we very much enjoyed. Try the cab the restaurant has it's label on. I believe $15 a glass, and paired very nicely with our dinner. We will be back!

I never go on here to write reviews, but I have to for this one. This had been one of my worst dining experiences in the 23 years of living in Chicago. Food was just bland, then overly salty to try to make up for it. I don't cook and I could have prepared better asparagus which was horrible. The wait staff and hosts were either rude or unknowledgable. I enjoy so many good places in this amazing culinary city that it is hard to decide places I already love or try something new and fall in love with it. I can easily put this on the "no need ever to come back here" list.

The first thing you will notice is the decor here. It's very contemporary unlike all of the dark wood paneled steakhouses. To sum it up, it's gorgeous. We were here for a private party of about 20 people. The room was nice. But I could tell from the get go that the service was going to be an issue. A few of us arrived before the group but none of us were the host or in charge of deciding wine, etc as we could not approve the bill. For some reason this seemed to be lost on the people who came to assist us as we explained this to them but they seemed very eager to up sell. Once everyone was there and the host was pointed out the sommelier was on him like white on rice. Give him a moment to look at the wine list! The service was just so overbearing. In terms of the food, everything was fine. I ate nothing that blew me away. There was the ubiquitous bread, shrimp skewers, broccoli, and potato sides. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out medium well. To be fair if it had been a somewhat rare medium I wouldn't have sent it back, but it wasn't even close! The main server said it would be taken care of and 15 minutes later I was still waiting and that's when he informed me 'they had to make a new one'. Seriously Einstein? No DUH, you can't uncook food. My steak did arrive and it was good, but this place was just off. There are quite a few Del Frisco's around, but there are so many steak places in the city that this just didn't do it for me. I am not likely to return.

Extraordinary experience. Shanghai-style calamaris are made with sweet and sour sauce which adds to already excellent flavor. Cheesesteak Eggrolls are as good as it gets. VIP cocktail, made with fresh pineapple juice is a great summer selection (better straight up, get's very watery when served on the rocks). One thing I wasn't impressed with which also contributes to my overall rating, were desserts. Strawberry dessert was just a 10 dollar, plain scoop of ice cream (something to work on). In the long run I'm looking forward to dining at Del Frisco's again and will recommend this steakhouse to friends.

THIS is my favorite steak restaurant in Chicago. I've been to many but I love the wedge salad, the lobster mashed potatoes, the prime ribeye and all the dessert items. As long as that $49 summer prime pair special does NOT turn this restaurant boughetto or common, I will continue to come and enjoy!

After visiting The Signature Room for stake& not being satisfied with the texture of food. We decided to not leave Chicago disappointed, & went to Del Frisco. My husband and i where extremely satisfied with the juicy, tasty& immaculate taste. & let me not forget to mention the service provided by "Demoon" one of the best service provided. He was beyond helpful with dessert decisions! A MUST TRY!

DO NOT TAKE GUESTS HERE I dined at Del Frisco's on a busy Saturday night as host to a party of six. This restaurant has absolutely no regard for its reservation system. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reserved time planning on having a drink at the bar before being seated. At 15 minutes after the reservation time I inquired - was told that a table was being cleared and set. At 30 minutes I inquired and was told the manager was working on it. At 45 minutes they said I would get the next table and shortly thereafter we were seated. We were placed in a private room off the downstairs bar which was nice because the place is noisy and the room was quiet enough to hold a conversation at normal sound volume. The problem was it was it was out of the way and it seemed that frequently for the rest of the evening we were forgotten and of course from there you could not catch the servers eye. The food was good steakhouse fare. The steaks are very good and the sides are well done. The service was terrible. Since we had been at the bar we ordered wine at the table with the order for dinner. We did not see the server again until the first food arrived. The wait for the first course was excessive and the dishes did not all arrive together and one ordered salad was missed and a further wait ensued. The wine was not brought until after we were already eating our first course, and water glasses remained empty on the table. The entrees came together but one was wrong-a strip instead of a rib-eye. The replacement steak was ordered medium rare but arrived on the raw side of rare. At this point the diner just said forget it and took it as served. After we had eaten our entrees the server said they would like to comp us for dessert. Nice gesture but most of the guests don't eat dessert-especially after such a large meal-and we all just wanted to be set free. So we missed the chance to see how that third course would get messed up. It all made for a disappointing evening and it was not pleasant to be the host for such a fiasco.

Loved Del Frisco's in Las Vegas and thought the service was exceptional, so got really excited that there was one in Chicago. I was not disappointed! Del's Salad: Some of the lettuce I would not have served at my own dinner table though, so a little disappointed there. Lobster Mac & Cheese: um yes Corn: ummmm yes. They say this comes with bacon but really, it's more like chunks of cured meat. Spinach: yessss Filet: I got medium and my boyfriend got medium rare. Both delicious, though he thought mine was slightly more flavorful. Crabcakes: there is almost no "cake"y substance in there. It's just a whole bunch of crab meat shaped and cooked into a round shape. No complaints here! Scallops: yessss. Delightful. Lemon cake: Amazing. Probably my fave of the three. Chocolate souffle cake: Delish. Wish we didn't take it to go, it probably would have been hot then. Creme brulee: Also delish. But since we took it to go, kinda fell flat by the time we opened our box. Sad. Pro tip: Go on Sunday nights for the $49 pre fixe meal/person. Comes with everything mentioned above (we ordered two) except for lobster mac & cheese and desserts.

I went to Del Frisco's for the first time last night. My friend who joined me , assured me that it would be "the best steak you've ever eaten." I really didn't believe her because I've had some great steak in my life. Boy, was I wrong! The steak, was by-far, the best I've ever had. I will remember eating that steak for the rest of my life. As a successful restaurant owner, red meat lover and someone who eats out a lot, this place wins. I had the "Bone-In Rib-eye Steak" It's enormous. It never crossed my mind that I'd finish it, but I did! It was worth every dime! ($54) We ordered the "au gratin" potatoes, the taste was outstanding. They hit all the taste buds where they need to be hit. They add bacon to them, yowza! We did have a slight problem with them though. The potatoes were, as I said, delicious, but they were cool on the inside. They immediately removed them (well done!) and brought us back a new dish that was piping hot. They took the potatoes off our bill because it wasn't perfect. So classy. Our service was as good as the steak. Mac waited on us and DaMoon was his assistant. Their friendliness, willingness to engage in fun banter and knowledge of the food was unparalleled. I love that it's not a stuffy steak house, though it is amazingly beautiful, it's not taken too seriously. This is not casual service by any means, it's just perfectly friendly and not intimidating. The bathrooms were even awesome and best of all, no attendant in there--like you get at most other steak houses in the area. I loved that I could go to the bathroom and not feel obligated to pay someone for turning on the water for me and feeling like I need to strike up conversation with the poor guy who's working in there. We were lucky enough to meet Lindsey, the manager. She came by our table and delighted us. I can see why the employees seem to be so happy, as she exuded personality, concern and she was very smart, not to mention beautiful. Well done Lindsey. What I really liked about the place is you can make it what you want. If you want a quiet meal without excessive interruptions by the server, it's a perfect place to go. If you enjoy bantering with the staff, they'll banter right back. Try to sit by the window in a booth. The bar was lively and looked like a scene from "Mad Men." Very cool. I've lived in Chicago 20 years and last night was one of the best nights eating out that I've ever had. Bravo Del Frisco!

Top notch food and service. Their steaks are perfect and flavorful. Their shrimp is fresh and very big. Their cheesesteak eggrolls were delightful and the bone-in prime strip and the bone-in ribeye were to die for! This is the best steakhouse in Chicago! I wish I could eat here every month.

The food was amazing, but it did take awhile for this delicious food to come out and they didn't have a serrated knife to cut the bread with. Lobster mac n cheese was to die for.

I hope the managers read these yelp reviews. My major complaint is the HORRIBLE service! I had been anticipating our Valentine's Day dinner here for a month. In fact my husband and I drove from Michigan through a blizzard to eat here for our special weekend. Our reservation was at 9:30pm, our table was not ready so we got martinis up at the bar. Yes the hostesses were dressed sexy, I don't understand why people have an issue with that on here. Anyway, think we waited 20 min. This restaurant is gorgeous and I loved the atmosphere. The menu could use more options and a description of the food. The food was very good. We got a steak, the salmon, oysters on the half shell, the wedge salad and the lobster mac n cheese which had nice size chunks of lobster meat in it. It tasted a little too much like butter to me though. The drinks were VERY strong and every time I went to the restroom there were women vomiting in the stalls. WEIRD. My major issue with this place was the HORRIBLE service. Some redneck with a southern accent was our waiter, he had no business working here. Should stick to waiting tables at Waffle House. He was non existent and NEVER checked on us once. He didn't even serve us our food. He should be fired. He never even told us his name and when we asked question about the menu he answered them but was looking over our heads at the table behind us not paying attention to a god damn thing. I'm not sure if it was because of Valentine's Day or what but there were some thugs in ball caps and jeans here. One would think this isn't acceptable. I expect better quality service for the money I paid!

Del Frisco's was very disappointing. This is the first time I have ever taken the time to review a dinner experience and it was so bad I had to do it! Ambiance is beautiful but the food was horrible. We were celebrating and I ordered a glass of champagne and at $20 a glass the server dumped off a wine glass filled with flat non bubbling liquid. I sent it bak and asked for the next price level up and he said they ran out of champagne glasses. The manager did come out and said its on the house but it was still tasteless. My mother in law felt her vodka tonic was pure water! The soup was tasteless (mushroom) and beet salad had about 1 beet sliced thin with tons of lettuce to cover it up. The halibut way over sauced and way over cooked. NEVER will go back. My family was too polite to complain after the drinks were bad and we silently ate our meal but not a good experience.!!!

VERY PRICEY! Our waiter was ok--seemed very much in a hurry as he sped through the specials and every time he came to our table. The manager came by and was friendly--they need to train their wait-staff to be more attentive and less in a hurry when you are in this caliber of restaurant. You expect service to be spot on, not so-so. We were disappointed in the huge wine list as it was hard to find anything under $100. It was good, but you feel "taken" when you find out that you could buy it retail for $20 and you paid $75. We expect a markup but almost 4 X seems a little much. We had a nice time but do not need to go back. It was good but not great and we have certainly dined at other places that were a better overall fine dining experience in Chicago.

This place was GREAT! I brought my best friend for her birthday and two other guests tagged along. None of us had any complaints, it was pricey but worth it for a nice occasion. My friend's only complaint really was that the waiter, who was great, passed out his potatoes au gratin and he didn't want to share ! lol I'm glad he did because they were delicious, as were the lobster Mac n cheese & spinach. My cousin loved her filet mignon and baked potato. I absolutely loved my 90% crab crab cakes and I'm more of a lobster girl myself usually. The phily cheesesteak egg rolls are as good as they sound. My next visit I will definitely be trying the lobster! Even the chicken was good, moist, and very flavorful. I am picky and love a good meal, so trust me this place was a HIT! Not to mention we went later in the evening and had great parking for 8 bucks. I mentioned on the reservation that I had a birthday girl with us, and that I preferred a window seat. Well they accommodated both. My best friend had a personalized card on the table giving her a free dessert, and our table view was nice as well. Her dessert was the cheesecake, it was tasty! I'll be back !!

Amazing! A must visit when in town. The steaks are phenomenal. It is great, the service is some of the best you get nowadays. It leaves you full with a great taste in your mouth.

Atmosphere and location are great. I've eaten here several times and had a corporate event here. Good service. However the food is meh. Onion rings, corn , potatoes all the sides have no flavor at all. Good steak , but hey, it's Chicago and is not great. Great wine list. Appetizers are very limited. And for any vegetarians , like most Chicago restaurants, no entree choice at all.

Not bad but definitely not the best steak house I've been too. They were out of the King Crab gnocchi so our waiter told us that lobster mashed potatoes were the substitute for it. Too bad he did not mention that the lobster mashed were over twice the price of the gnocchi at 34 dollars. I was definitely shocked. I am okay with paying more for good food but that was even twice the price of the Lobster Mac and Cheese side. I have no idea how they charged that much and just didn't tell you. Not to mention that fact that it was just okay.

Been to several steak houses in Chicago and have to rate this the best. Taste of the filet was excellent and cooked perfect. Server was equally great and very attentive. Good atmosphere and quiet enough to talk business. Really fantastic dining experience.

Yikes. For a $$$$ kind of restaurant, I would expect much more. Honestly, I would recommend Eddie V's or chains like Mcormick's, Flemings, or Ruth C's over this place. We came for restaurant week, 2015 (Monday 6:00 pm) Pros: ordered the Philly cheesesteak app - it was amazing. It was the only thing worth coming for. That and the lobster mac-and-cheese. We ordered that as an extra. It was $17. It was amazing, but way over-priced. I've had better for cheaper (See Jake Melenick's) or slightly less expensive (Eddie V's was awesome!!!) The cons: (aka everything else) The cocktails - had no care, attention, or thought about taste, or even garnish. I ordered an Old Fashioned and have had better made by rookies at a wing-pub. Too much bitters and you shouldn't mash the cherry in the bottom of the class like it's a sonic-slush. The crab cakes are ok. The worst - the tomato bisque. Seriously tasted like canned sauce from spaghetti-o's. Don't get me wrong, I like that 89¢ can, but if I'm at an 8-year-old's birthday party and a pirate is pulling double duty as the chef, not a place like this. We each had an 8oz filet - it was cooked right, but was tasteless, making it taste cheap. Look, a good steak doesn't need seasoning. You should never have to add salt, pepper, or butter to a steak. But something about this --- I needed to add my own which is a first for a steak house of this caliber. Its blandness wasn't as much of a problem as its cheap, rubber taste. The side of potatoes was good, but nothing to get moist about. My mouth didn't water and say, "these are worth an $11 side!" The dessert - the lemon cake was dry, but I did like the cheesecake crust. My wife did not. Bottom line, skip desert. Lastly - the service. Our server didn't ask ONCE If I wanted a new drink. I sat the whole time with an empty, watered-down Old Fashioned. Both my wife and I would have (and wanted to) ask for a glass of red wine with our main course, but he was too busy ushering us out to notice. He literally treated us like crap - maybe assuming we were beneath quality service because it was restaurant week. He dropped off our check before dessert even came. The only reason I bothered to tip him 18% was so he could get enough money to clean his rotting-smoke-tarnished teeth or pay to have the creeping sleeve tattoos removed. We saw him once between taking our order and picking up our check in a 4-course meal. Mind you - it was 6 pm on a Monday. He had maybe one or two other two-tops in his section with a plethora of food-runners helping him. Wasn't like he was in the weeds --- he just sucked. Again, not what you would expect.

For me, this appears to be a ritzy "steak barn" for out of towners and lacked the charm, sophistication and character of Chicago's great steak houses, but not the price. Neither of the hostesses smiled at us when we entered. We were TOLD to stand a few feet away from them until they were "ready for us" even though we had reservations and the restaurant was practically empty since it was an early reservation. There was maybe 1-2 tables occupied in the entire restaurant yet we waiting for what seemed like an unusually long time to be seated. Why? The food service, friendliness was nothing special. Side portions were small. Our dessert was tiny. We were hoping to share a dessert but we each had one mouthful and it was gone. We had to stop for gelato on our way home. For the price, which is comparable to Chicago's best steak houses, the food, service and experience was not there.

My experience from start to finish for the most part was horrible. I understand it was valentines day and busy but outside of our server who was overloaded my experience was far from pleasant. Not to mention they could have killed me (I'll get to that later). We arrived and attempted to valet. It was so backed up to park and retrieve vehicles that there was a crowd of people around them furious about the long waits of almost 40 minutes to valet and retrieve vehicles. We ended up having to find a parking lot almost 2 blocks away and walking back in the freezing cold. I had a reservation thank goodness but we where seated in a small corner in which space was pretty limited. We waited a while and a gentleman came and offered us bread and water. We waited a while more and our server finally arrived. she was nice but the service wasn't the greatest due to her being swamped. The menu was very vague as to the ingredients of the dishes. My girlfriend and I ordered the Rib-eye steak, hers well done, mine medium well, a side of potatoes, and a side of asparagus. The wait was a bit long on our steaks but again I know it was busy. Our food finally arrived, they placed our plates on the table and they started serving the sides. The gentleman asked if i wanted asparagus and he served it right on my steak, i luckily i looked at it before i ate it and it was covered in nuts which i am deathly allergic to. Mind you there is no place on the menu that said anything about any nuts. The gentleman apologized and asked if i would be okay I was iffy but my girlfriend reminded me that we didn't have time to wait on another steak because we would have lost our play tickets if we where late. Luckily she hadn't been served asparagus so we would just switch our plates around. He apologized and offered another side. I chose cream spinach which again had no description and seemed to have some type of meat in it. The potatoes where good though small in portion. Now to the steaks. THEY WHERE BOTH BURNT!!! There was literally a piece so burnt that it crumbled into ash, there where edible piece's which tasted like the grill hadn't been cleaned all day. i feel like if you pay $60-$70 for a steak you shouldn't have to use steak sauce and that is def what ended up happening to make those pieces edible. As we didn't want to make a scene or be late for our play and waste more money we just bared through it though i was furious. Overall Del Frisco's is overrated or maybe it was an off night but its def not worth the money. It was an almost $200 waste of money and a ruined Valentines Day dinner. Thanks Del Frisco's...

Had a very nice dinner on a recent Tuesday evening. When compared to my previous, pretty terrible experience, a lot had changed. The service was a couple easily forgivable miscues short of perfect, the food was outstanding, and (it being a Tuesday) the room was lively but not chaotic. A vast improvement indeed, but Del Frisco's still stretches the value equation at ~$250 per diner.

Excellent service. Excellent food. Of course the food is quite expensive but well worth it if you are looking for an exceptional dining experience. Expect to pay @$100 per person between food and drinks. They have an exceptional selection of wine. Again, not a place to go as a regular stop but a great place to go for that special occasion.

I have always said that America is the land of second chances. If you screw up, generally, you will get a chance to make things right in this country. I try my best to adopt this credo, which is why I gave Del Frisco's a second chance. After this God awful experience, I will not give Del Frisco's a third chance. Our reservation was for 8:45 PM on Saturday, August 9th, 2014. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I decided to go back to the hostess to find out why it was taking so long for us to be seated. She was not cordial. She didn't even look at me when she told me that we would have to wait an additional 15 - 20 minutes before we were seated, and she was offended that I would even dare ask what was taking so long. Of course, we were not seated until about 30 minutes after our reservation. We finally get to our booth, and our waitress was clueless. She had no idea what the specials were, nor did she have a good grasp of the menu. She stumbled her way through the night with us; maybe she was new. The worst part was the way the customers were acting, and the managers did nothing about it. First, shouldn't there be some kind of dress code when you attend a fine dining restaurant? I see so many kids there who are not properly dressed. One kid (I am so serious with this) was wearing his superman pajamas. Other kids were not only under-dressed, but badly misbehaving. Kids were running around, being loud, and just being in the way. Some of the parents were no better, as one couple decided to take pictures right by our table. I was visibly upset, and one of the managers saw that I was upset because I looked dead at him. He decides to avoid my table because he could sense that I was upset. Del Frisco's, do a better job of honoring your reservations, do a better job of maintaining some kind of dress code, and do a better job of controlling the actions of your customers.

What a great restaurant! I have found a consistently great steak and the seafood is fresh and a good value. While I love Gibson and Capital for their excellent food and service, but this steakhouse is a more relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy a dinner party, romantic date, or business dinner with confidence!

Having eaten at the Del Frisco's in Las Vegas many many times, with five star results I was amazed at how BAD the Chicago operation is. Terrible with a capital T. Went there on Saturday night with a party of seven. The room after going two escalators up is HUGE. The tables close together and the noise level louder than wearing earphones where you have forgotten to turn the volume down. Sat down. Server took drink orders. Returned twenty minutes later with the drinks. Came back in another fifteen minutes and took the orders. Nothing complicated filets and salads with some simple sides. After one hour and fifteen minutes complained that our food was taking an unreasonable time to be served, The person apologized and brought some crab cakes to satiate our hunger. Another thirty minutes and our food finally arrived. Were told to be very very careful as the plates were "very very very hot". In fact they were cool to the touch and the food was warm at best. After the main course was cleared, we were given fruit, cake and cheese cake with another apology. Arrival time 7:00PM, departure time 9:40 and we did not dawdle. Service LOUSY. Food good, but would have been better had it been served hot. Would I go again? Not even if the meal were free. Cross it off your list.

If you are going to come to Chicago and open a steak house- you have to know that you have your work cut out for you, for no amount of glizt and glam (which this place has in spades) is going to make up for poor service. First the glitz and glam. I love the way this place is set up. And I love that they kept the signage from the old Esquire theater which now houses this steak house. When you first open the door- the first floor hostess will direct you up the escalators to the 2nd floor hostess stand. There is a lovely square bar in this space- perfect for that after work drink or for gathering with friends. The whole space is just lovely. My friend had gotten there before me so I was shown to his table. Tucked away in a corner with no one seated next to us, this, too, was a big win. Our server was a bit of a ditz. Can't decide if the tiny dresses that they make them wear affected her ability to serve but she just didn't seem to have it together. She asked the same questions over and over again and seemed startled when I asked her to have a vegetable steamed versus sauteed. When she said she didn't know, I expected her to either go and find out or say that she would ask the chef- but she just stood there like the answer was going to appear out of the table. I finally told her if she couldn't get me any steamed veggies that I would just take the sliced tomato salad that they had without the olive oil. Again . . .blankness- like she didn't know what to write down on her pad. She did come back eventually after I asked to to ask the kitchen which veggies could be steamed and lo and behold she had a whole list! (somehow I just knew they could do this!) I chose the broccoli to go with my filet. We also ordered a couple of appetizers- the tuna tartar and the crab cake for my friend. The appetizers came up fairly quickly but much to my dismay there was olive oil on the tuna tartar. (I had asked if they did this and was told no) So given I was watching my oil intake- this lovely dish was not for me. My friend loved his crabcake however- big chunks of crab with very little filler. Our steaks came up perfectly prepared- in fact- the server who brought them asked us to cut into them before he left the table. What they didn't bring was any of our side dishes (how hard is it to get a veggie in this place?) Our server was MIA so we flagged down someone else to ask about my veggie, my friend's gnocchi and his steak sauce. By the time it showed up- I was halfway through my steak, which, by the way, was very good. Pacing issues will kill a new restaurant time and time again. But given this is a chain with locations across the US- I really expected better training of our server and better pacing of the various food items. The beauty of this place and the obvious money that was put into it will not offset bad service. The food, when it comes, is good, but in comparison to other steak places in town that get it right every time, I left feeling a little underwhelmed. Classy place that needs classy service to match.

Have been to several Del Friscos over the years and since becoming part of a large national chain there is a familiar formula. Great location in building with distinction. Plenty of room, great wine list and of course steaks. The menu was actually quite small. All the basic cuts for steaks but conspicuously missing anything dry aged. The wine list was great with knowledgeable assistance. Other service was ordinary. The food was fine as expected but not spectacular, typical for Del Friscos and most of its competition. They do make for an entertaining evening and are worthy of a return visit.

YUM! 4.5 really.... Went here on a Saturday night. I have to say, I love the decor. Its very glam, open and steakhouse like. We were seated on the top floor, wine room. Our server was great. Super personable, explained everything and read our table. He was funny and great. Anthony...I think. I like that he was stuffy and pretentious. The food was almost perfect. We started with: Crabcakes-huge chunks of crab with a great sauce. Shrimp Cocktail-Ginormous shrimp! So good. Philly cheesesteak eggrolls-Fantastic steak and cheese all fried up! YUM! Sweet and sour sauce over top. Caesar salad-just ok. I wouldnt get it again. It was just kind of meh. Filet with peppercorn and bluecheese-EXCELLENT! One of the best pieces of meat I have had. It was so freaking good! SIDES Lobster Mac and Cheese-good, not great. Gnocchi-EXCELLENT! So creamy and rich and huge chunks of seafood. LOVE Creamed Spinach-excellent and a staple at a steakhouse Sauteed Mushrooms-pretty good, nothing too special Mushroom risotto-disgusting. It was so salty I didnt take a second bite. It was BLAHCK!!! DESSERT Lemon Cake-Fresh, light and airy, but sweet as shit. So good though Molten Cake-Heavenly warm, ooey, gooey center that went well with the ice cream Bread Pudding-Excellent flavors. Cinnamony, baked heaven with a side of ice cream I would definitely go back here. It really was excellent service, ambiance, and food with just a few misses. Overall, great!

Del Frisco's was amazing! I loved the place as soon as I walked in the door. The decor is beautiful and I love wine so I love the fact that they use wine bottles as part of the decor. I went last year for my 1 year wedding anniversary with my husband. We had a great time. They made us feel special from the moment we walked in. Sitting at our table was a happy anniversary card from the manager and staff. From then on they made sure that this would be a wonderful night to remember. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and various types of wines. He made great suggestions throughout the evening. Our food was delicious. The seasoning was perfect for each course, not too salty or bland. The menu is diverse so there is a little something for everyone. The salmon was delightful and I enjoyed every bite. The entire evening was perfect. The only issue I had was that the place didn't seem to have a strict dress code. When I go to an upscale restaurant, I make sure that I'm dressed to the nines and expect that from the other customers. However, since the restaurant is located in a touristy part of Chicago, they allowed some patrons to wear jeans and shirts. Maybe that works for some people, but I would love to see restaurants go back to dress codes. Other than that, this place is definitely somewhere I will return to.

Last night I took my friend out to Del Frisco's to celebrate the purchase of his new apartment and what a disappointment... While the food was ok the service couldn't have been worse. I've had better service at TGI Friday's. The waitress stopped at the table a total of 3 times. To say hi and take the drink order, drop the drinks and take the menu order and to present the check. I hate to write a negative review, but I was embarrassed to take my friend there. We even left early and went elsewhere for wine and dessert.

A thoroughly irritating experience ... Started outside. Traffic getting downtown wasn't as bad as it could have been, so arrived early at 8:15 for an 8:45 reservation. Told by the valet that they were "full" and couldn't take any cars. Uh, OK -- seemed more like they were short on staff and blocking up the street. Dropped my wife off and went around the corner to use the Jellyfish valet (no problems). We checked in around 8:20 for our 8:45 reservation, with an over-packed bar area, and were told "we should be able to seat you right around your reservation time." OK -- it's all about setting expectations, right? Well, around 9:40, after a fairly lame $17 martini each (how can a steakhouse do a poor martini?), we were contemplating whether to just leave, or try to order at the bar ... when we were finally sat (without comment). As they only started seating the 8:30 reservations around 9:15/9:20, I think that you should expect a long wait if you come here ... The table was OK -- a window table, just offset from the Esquire sign, so a pleasant view. We decided to reset our mood and start from scratch. The bread was brought to the table -- our first thought was "hamburger buns?", but it was OK -- a sesame, bunlike thing, but tasty. We ordered the Shellfish Plateau for two, as we'd really felt like surfing and turfing. It's advertised as "king crab, stone crab, oysters and jumbo shrimp" ... and is $78. After ordering, we were told that they were out of stone crabs, but would add more king crab. When it arrived, it was a COMPLETE joke. Two king crab legs, four anaemic and tasteless oysters (I took a picture ... I couldn't believe how tiny they were), and four shrimp. We waved over the guy who brought it, and asked him what he thought it was supposed to be. Lots of handwaving over "well, the kitchen got it wrong" (and, what, he closed his eyes while carrying it out to us?), and he brought us another plate with some more crab legs. Bleh. Our steak was a Wagyu ribeye, medium rare. It was well-cooked (nicely charred, while keeping the medium rare), so no complaints there. The accompanying spinach was good, and the asparagus OK, if uninspired. The coffee was good. A highlight was the bottle of wine. While most of what's on the wine card is a bit overpriced, the Masi Amarone was very reasonably priced (almost outrageously well-priced!) and delicious. Overall, we left just feeling irritated. I think that if you're used to a good steakhouse experience, this is one that'll just rub you the wrong way.

Possibly one of my favorite restaurants in the city! So glad they opened one in Chicago. Crab cakes, Lobster bisque, calamari, and the lobster mac and cheese is to die for. Everything on the menu is worth every penny. The manager Lindsey is a doll and super sweet. Can't say enough good things about the place. Must try for locals and out of towners.

The decor here is awesome. This is a great place to celebrate a milestone or dine on the company's dime. The service was outstanding and the food was good (not outstanding, but good). I would definitely come back. This is not a place to take a first date (unless you're rich or you know for sure that person is the one, LOL).

Our friends raved about this place and it's service so much. We finally had a chance to experience Del Frisco's on my husband's 50th birthday. Now, since this was such a special day, I was hoping that Del Frisco's lived up to the hype...drumroll... First off, I remember what the place looked like as a theater. They did an AMAZING job with the layout of the restaurant. The design was modern and elegant. The lighting was dim enough where everyone looked great, but it was nice that we could all still see if we were eating the actual food we ordered! Ok-I'm not a wine drinker but from what I heard, everyone at the table was happy with the selection and the choices they settled down with. My husband ordered the filet and said it was one of the most tender and well cooked steaks he's ever had. He is really finicky about having the outside charred and the inside tender and pink. It was perfection and cut like butter. He ordered the sprouts on the side and said it had a unique twist to it. But since I can't stand sprouts...I just took his word for it. I ordered the Del Frisco salad and had them add a chicken breast to it. The chicken was seasoned with asian spices and was really great. Even though it wasn't on the menu, I think they should start making this for everyone. (Despite the fact that I AM special...:) The avocado dressing was really different, but I enjoyed their house dressing more. GREAT flavor! Oh, and I CAN'T forget about the dessert, now can I?! We all shared a banana bread cake with cinnamon vanilla ice cream on it. It was so delish that I was tempted to lick the carmel-drizzeld plate...but..thankfully, I stopped myself. I DO want to come back here someday... The best part of the whole dining experience was our waiter, Dave. He was charming, personable and if he was annoyed by my OCD order, he didn't flinch for a second. LOVE that! NOTE: In case there are a ton of waiters named Dave there he is the handsome guy with the Vin Diesel 'haircut'.:) COMPLAINT: The only bad thing I have to mention is the seating was REALLY uncomfortable. The high backed booths are killer on anyone with a bad back or short legs (I fit both of those) I recommend they get a decorative roll-type pillow for the lower back to make the dining experience more comfortable. Or, you can just wait longer for a table by the window or the middle... *If Del Frisco's changes this, I will definitely make my review 5 stars. But, it will have to be for 4 for now. Ciao!

Three stars considering I went on our firm's corporate account. The venue is quite mind-blowing. The decor is a bit over the top but I enjoy the glitz regardless, was not expecting that at all in the Bean Town. It seems like they adjusted their price. Their wagyu steak which was the most expensive item, I think is 90+$ in NYC, and it's at a mere $84 in Chicago. Front desk service needs major work. They sent us to the wrong table and was not even apologizing when we gave them the feedback. They just said, xx is a common name. What kind of a response is that?! The waiter service on the other hand is great. I ordered non steak items and he didn't give me the strange look. I got the tuna tartar for apps and the crab cake for my main entree. Both are decent, not super good, but at the same time I finished my plates clean.

I recently had dinner at Del Frisco's on Oakstreet. We ordered two glasses of wine and shared an appetizer. The steaks were cooked perfectly along with two vegetables. The whipped potatoes with skins were delicious but the broccoli was over seasoned. In addition the steaks were very salty. All in all our meal was quite average considering the large selection of steak houses in Chicago we can choose from. When we got home we noticed a charge for three wines. I called immediately and talked to the manager about this error. He assured me he would send us a refund. A few days later we received two $25 gift cards to be used at their restaurant Del Frisco's or Sullivan's with a deadline of ten weeks. I wasn't looking for freebies but a correction for their error. I will not return to any of their restaurants but stick with my favorites- Gibsons, Bennys Chophouse and Bavettes.

Atomosphere was the best thing about this place. Unfortunately the food was just ok. My husband makes a better tenderloin at home with no culinary back ground. My was supposed to be butterfly and was not, his was supposed to be medium well and was brought to the table close to rare. The manager came to the table & called my husband "boss" when asking about his steak. Off putting to both of us. The mushrooms had no flavor, seemed to be just steamed in some sort of juice & the au gratin potatoes were bland as well. Service was mediocre, near the end of our meal we never saw out server again. So not worth it!

By the time the steak comes out, I'm usually full. Been here twice: once for my bachelor party and the other with my cousin and some family. Their lobster tails are enormous. Their steaks are cooked to perfection. Their lobster side dishes are heavy, but delicious. Oh, and they have other locations around the US. Go check one out.

Another excellent steak house option. What sets Del Frisco's apart is the atmosphere and service, though the steaks match up with the best a steakhouse offers. First the atmosphere, which is almost awe inspiring. It is set in the old Esquire Theater, probably five stories high with incredible chandeliers. In the center is a wine tower with a spiral staircase, which is a great feature. Service is excellent, friendly but professional. Not overly formal, will joke around but not the phony style you often get, they really do seem enthusiastic. The food is also top notch. Ordered the crab cake based on other Yelp reviews and the waiter's recommendation and it was possibly the best crab cake I ever had (and I lived in Baltimore for four years). Excellent crab meat, virtually no (or none) filler and a very pleasant remoulade. I had the bone-in fillet. It was cooked perfectly and a great steak, but honestly did not separate itself from a Bennys or Gibsons (but competes well with them). The only disappointments were the sides, which showed little creativity. I had onion rings, which were huge but nothing special. Did not order dessert but the dessert menu also seemed to lack creativity. The atmosphere, though, makes up for the sides and dessert and earns it five stars.

Great service, fabulous atmosphere, out-of-this-world wine "bin." But a steak that, in my view, is not great enough to make it anywhere near the top of the heap in the steak capital of the world, Chicago. They've set up for lots of large groups. The main room is impressive. The obvious plan is big expense account parties blowing lots on expensive wines. "Lots of private rooms," we were informed. Reminds me of the 90's and investment banking expense accounts. Good luck. My big complaint - the steak. It had a thick peppery rub that overpowered the meat. Worst I've ever had. My medium rare was to be "red all the way through" according to our waitress. It was nicely pink all the way through, like a medium should be, without a sign of red anywhere, like I'd ordered it. I'm sorry, but they've been open for two weeks now. By this time a steak house should know how they want to serve their steaks. And this isn't the way I like mine. I'll stick with Michael Jordan's and Ruth's Chris. Overcooked with a terrible rub is a loser, no matter how much they've spent on building out an impressive space.

The food is amazing here! The steaks are cut to order! Delicious and perfectly seasoned! The sides pair absolutely perfectly with each entree; lobster mac and cheese, brussel sprouts with bacon, and the fried onion rings are HUGE! Appetizers were also very decadent- steak egg rolls, calamari was different and delicious!! Atmosphere was fantastic! Big and open, not too dark, and the waiter was amazing! Great recommendations and friendly. Scallop entree was absolutely mouthwatering and melt in your mouth with the bacon wrapped around.

In a word- Excellent! I can't wait to go back. Highlights: the Philly cheese steak egg rolls are amazing, the filet mignon was delicious and cooked to perfection and the lobster mac and cheese was perfect. Great service & nice ambiance. It was a perfect experience.

We went here for our first time on a Saturday night for a birthday dinner. I definitely recommend making a reservation as the place was packed. The steaks were cooked to perfection with an awesome seasoning. We also had the lobster bisque which was great and you have to get the lobster mac'n cheese..to die for!

Some friends and I decided to kick off restaurant week here at Del Frisco's. My experience started the minute we walked in the door, the hostess, she was very nice and continually apologized for the delay in seating us. When we were finally seated our waitress Lauren, was just as nice, acknowledging our wait and offering to bring some complimentary appetizers out. The tuna tartare was so fresh, very tasty. From the ambience, staff, to the food, all around great experience. As we were leaving, Lauren brought us all cupcakes to go, a little thank you for kicking off restaurant week with them.

We sat at the bar which has it's own menu but also the full restaurant menu. FAB-U-LOUS. Everything we ate and drank was delicious. Service was top notch, music fun and on point. We WILL be back! The bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with.

My date and I made a spontaneous visit here Thursday evening. Our server was very friendly, very helpful. He offered some suggestions and brought some wine to taste based on our stated preferences. We ended up with a bottle of Del Friscoes Cabernet -- pretty good for a house brand. We ordered the calamari for an app (excellent!) and the wedge salad (very good). The bread was just so so. I'm spoiled by the bread at Bavette's and Mastro's. She ordered a filet well done (I know -- that's a whole other discussion) and I ordered my steak medium. Both came out cooked to the wrong temperature, but our server noticed immediately without us having to say anything. He fixed the issue then sent two managers to check on us and apologize. Our side dishes were onion rings (just ok) and au gratin potatoes (very tasty). We were comped some items due to the error, but the food was very good overall and our service was excellent. Looking forward to next time.

I went to Del Frisco's twice last week. First- for a networking event with appetizers + cocktails. The Philly eggrolls & beef sliders were amazing as was the chocolate cake. All the servers were attentive and friendly. Second- girls night out. We ordered a round of cocktails to start- both the VIP and Pear martini were to die for. We shared too many dishes to name but some favorites included: shrimp cocktail, crab cake, filet, and lobster mac. The hand whipped cheesecake is a must try as well! Our server was energetic and had the kitchen portion everything out to share. Overall, everything is great here and service is wonderful. If you haven't gone, you're missing out!

Visited family in Chicago and our experience was excellent! Ashley was very attentive to our larger party. We found the steaks and the crabcakes were some of the best we've had. Nick made sure that our meal was perfect! We will be back again.

We ate there this past saturday. Walking in to the building, you can tell that they put a lot of thought into the design, as it was visually striking from the get go. The interior/ambiance of this establishment is modern and fun, especially for a steakhouse. The staff there is very helpful and accommodating (especially Jared, one of the managers there, who could not have been more helpful, especially when he found out we were celebrating a birthday). As far as the food, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. I had the veal chop which was delicious, and my wife had the pasta primavera, which they made especially for her, and she said it was fantastic, especially from a steakhouse. The couple who we were dining with had the porterhouse and they were quite impressed with their meal as well (which is saying a lot, being that he was in the meat business and knows a good steak when he sees one). The highlight of the meal though, was the lobster mac and cheese, which was hands down, one of the best sides i have ever eaten at a steakhouse. I would definitely return on my next trip back to chicago, and i will recommend it to anybody who asks for some dining ideas on their next trip to chicago.

HORRIBLE service I've only written two reviews on YELP, one because I was thoroughly impressed and the other because I was thoroughly dissapointed - this is the latter. Lets start with the good: -The food was good, not amazing, but definitley no compliants. -The decor was very modern and the three story wine cellar was really cool. -You had space to eat. Living in the city, this was a nice suprise. Now for the reason i'm writing this post. THE WORST service I've had in the six years I've lived in Chicago. - They rushed the entire service. We were a table of 6 at 6:30 and there were numerous open tables - quit pushing! -We ordered a bottle of wine and 4 drinks within the first few minutes of sitting, prior to getting our drinks, the waitress had circled back twice to try and get us to order apps. - Not 1, not 2, but 3 drinks were taken from our table prior to us finishing them. They then came around and tried to take a 4th, but I beat him to the drink. - Numerous times during our service there were at least 3 people over our shoulder doing something at the table - pushing for more drinks, pushing another bottle of wine, cleaning the table, checking up etc. - The music was too loud, you had to scream to talk and we had to ask for the specials at least 3 times. -The waitress was nice... she wasn't very good, but seemed sweet. Overall, the food was pretty good for the price... our bill was over $750 for six of us, but the service was definitley not up to par.

Attended Del Frisco's for my birthday. One word simply thee BEST steakhouse in Chicago! Service is awesome, the food is amazing!! I've dined at numerous steak restaurants throughout Chicago. Del Frisco's won my heart. The ambience is romantic and staff is very friendly. Decor is not your typical steakhouse. You wont be dissapointed!

Ambiance was horrible, when frequenting an establishment that prices themselves as a fine dining caliber I expect that they have a certain requirement for the type of clientele they allow in. You would have thought they were serving $0.10 chicken wings there if you looked around. There was a loud group that looked like they just got off the golf course. Steaks and appetizers were good. Everything was dusted, or cooked with bacon. Gibsons, Chicago Chop House, Tavern, Morton's, etc all better choices.

Not obvious from the street, but this is a HUGE restaurant inside. We were there during lunch so the place wasn't crowded, but the place can hold a football stadium sized crowd by the looks of it. Well appointed and very upscale. Abundance of wine is evident as part of their décor. Some very good takes on some classic foods. The brussel sprouts are not to be missed as a side dish. Also highly recommend the philly cheesecake eggrolls...sounds strange, tastes great. Selection of entrees for dinner looked appetizing and drink menu was extensive. Will have to try them on our next visit. Definitely a hot spot.

One of the best steak houses in Chicago! Very nice ambiance and a very good location as well! I came here for my anniversary on a Sunday night and we made reservations through open-table so we didn't have to wait long at all. I ordered from the prefixe menu, which consisted of a salad, side item, steak, and crab cake. As for my salad - I got the iceberg wedge salad, which me and hubby loved, side item - mashed potatoes, can't go wrong with that, steak and crab cake - the crab cake was amazing! We ordered onion rings as well... They were life size! I probably wouldn't recommend ordered those if it's just two people, because I felt like it was impossible for me to eat more than two and they gave so many! Since we were celebrating our anniversary our waitress got us free dessert, so we chose the banana bread pudding, which i didn't think it would be that good, but it was amazing! The inside was soft and warm and had ice cream on top - it was made perfectly! I usually never finish all my food, but I managed to finish everything including the dessert... well just not the onion rings! I would highly recommend this place if you are celebrating a special occasion!

I really had the worst dining experience at Del Frisco's Chicago. I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant not only for the food, but the experience. When we first arrived with a reservation, their method of seating you was randomly walking around to each party and asking if they were the "Smiths." After getting seated nearly an hour after our reservation, the night became worse. It took approximately an hour to receive each course. When finally receiving our main course, my friends trio of steaks were all different temperatures. During that time, the glass of wine (from the bottle we had) I was drinking was spilt on my dinner by a worker. I was offered a glass of wine reluctantly. Also, during our service a majority of the staff including managers were on their phones instead of attending to their diners. I was just an overall awful experience (especially for the money it cost). I would definitely not recommend this restaurant or ever go back again.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The service was impeccable and professional. The drinks were very standard. The appetizers were wonderful! The presentation and taste was top notch. I highly recommended the Asian chili calamari. For the main course I split the flier trio and it melted it my mouth. The lobster Mac and cheese was worth every calorie, as the spinach was too. I will be back!

Most upscale steakhouses offer good cuts of meat and have chefs that can cook them to perfection. What sets del frisco's apart for me is the seasoning. I really think a piece of beef cant get much better than this. I had dinner with a group of 8 and all were pleased. The sides are tasty, and served in a family style. We tasted many of the items off the menu, which we all raved about. Definitely a must if your in or near Chicago.

The space is sharp and sophisticated, but the food is not so much. If you are a foody, move on to another. This is supposed to be the chains masterpiece of a restaurant, the double eagle, but they skimp on some basics that is supposed to give a high class restaurant the first class feel. menu: printed on a glossy like card board paper. Been to some of the top steakhouse houses in the country and have never seen such a cheap looking menu. This comment is more for management, as if you want to be a top steakhouse, you need to create a luxury feel at the table. service, was great, but didn't get sat until 30 minutes after our reservation time. Joey made the evening very nice. food: started with the oysters, they were bluepoints, but not very meaty like we've had at other places. Again, comment for management, don't serve fancy oysters with plastic wrapped crackers you get at dennys. Serve with a crisp bread or something, but not the soup crackers. Wife and I summed this up as a good steakhouse for those that haven't been to the others in the city. Atmosphere does make up for Beet and goat cheese salad. For some reason, they decided to pepper the salad in the kitchen, not sure why, as it over powered the salad and killed it for us. Normally the pepper is put on by request at the table, there is a reason for that. The rest was good and up to par. One more comment, the bread loaf was served with out a knife and there was only dull knives at the tabletop, maybe an oversight, but another comment for management. Oh. One more thing at the bar, have a beer list. The beer list are the empty bottles at the very top of the center display. No presentation at all and makes it hard to read the labels on some of the interesting beers they have available. To sum this on up, those that haven't been to the other Chicago steakhouse houses will find this to be a nice place. Given the other options available, This is not a standout, but like the atmosphere.

I have been to Del Frisco's a couple of times now and its worth checking out. The incredible buildout of the old Esquire Theater is a worth a visit in and of itself. No expense was spared. The multi level bars are a scene and make for great people watching. The menu is simple and concise and the meals are executed very well. You must try the Philadelphia Egg Rolls as an appetizer and the steaks do not disappoint. Del Frisco's is definitely on the pricey side, even for Chicago steakhouses.

The first time I went here the service was sub par (just opened) but the second time blew me away! The food is amazing and so is the wine selection. I've been here with a group and on Valentine's Day. The lobster, steak, shanghai calamari, crab cakes...the list goes on. The service is top notch (2nd time around)!

Thank goodness I was with an old friend and not some sort of business client. If this would have been an 'important' outing I would have been mortified. Motown music and a nice seating area is where it stops! Just can't even come up with a second star as Chi as too many great restaurants that DF clearly can't measure up to. Wait staff is either miscuing and/or up-selling. When asking a question on two different dishes, instead of answering my question the server suggested a completely different dish that was nearly 3x the amount (for food and $), and nowhere near the type of food I was asking about. Cocktails are poorly made - both times I've been to DF and two different types of drinks. The 1st time was on only 'okay' martini. The Manhattan I had the other night should have been sent back. It was pretty bad. I just didn't want to start the evening out w/ a 'return' right out of the shoot. I drank about half of it. Only gold star is that they use 'real' marinated cherries. Glad I had asked for two. That was a nice surprise. Wine list is VERY expansive and WAY overpriced. The list may be meant to impress however I was left with the impression it's meant to impress drunk tourists attempting to show off how much money they have. Well beyond a "reasonable" mark-up for any restaurant. Most importantly is that the food is so lack-luster, why would I ever go back and pay prices for food that has less flavor and creativity than a typical Chili or Applebee's. Seriously, other than the seating area, which is nice, the remainder of the experience was a $300 dinner (for 2) that was NO better than a local, chain restaurant. For $300 you get 2 cocktails, 1 appetizer, 2 dinners, and 1 dessert (w/ 1 espresso. And the wine - found an okay bottle from Sonoma for $85 - one of the few bottles under $100. I sure don't mind dumping that kind of money on a nice dinner. I do it a lot. I mind dumping that kind of money on a dinner that is nearly cartoonish in the experience of the event. Bottom-line - they've lost my business. I live in the Gold Coast and eat out very often. ....Since I didn't lose anything in there; no reason to go back! Only entertainment is that this will be good office banter on Monday morning as I work w/ a bunch of foodies......

Amazing place. Looks Amazing. Went to dinner with a couple buddies and we all loved our meals. We got some crabcakes which where incredible. Everything else was wonderful. We were also very impressed by the service. We had a server named Alana. Not only was she beautiful, but she was very accomodating. She helped me select a meal based on food allergies and even surprised me with a birthday dessert. Such a thoughtful and wonderful gal. Recommended for sure.
