This review is in regard to hosting our Rehearsal Dinner here last year. I called a few weeks ahead and they suggested for our group size (fairly small, maybe 20?) to just section off the dining area instead of renting out a private space. This was totally fine with us and we were relieved to find a place near our apartment given the late-ish notice in Chicago terms. (Note: people take weddings SO serious around here haha) It turned out that they actually set us up in the private dining area which was awesome! (It made my husband and I look like we actually planned this thing and didn't wing it like we kind of had ;)) Our server was great and very attentive (I'm guessing she was only working with our group) and asked after our arrival details about how we wanted to proceed -- is one person paying for all drinks/all food, one food order for table or everyone separate, etc. We greatly appreciated this instead of just running the tab up with everything and handing us one big bill if that wasn't what we wanted, ya know?! The food was great and enjoyed by everyone. The wood fire pizza is filling, but still light. The day before my wedding, I did Not want to be weighed down with deep dish pizza, so Connie's was perfect! My husband and I have gone back a few times since, and I agree with others that sometimes it's quiet and not busy, but the space is pretty to look at, the pizza yummy, and the service has always been good so the joke's on everyone else for not visiting :-P

While being a tourist for a day with my step daughter and her friend, we stopped in for some Chicago style pizza on a Saturday afternoon. Walking in at 12:15pm my daughter asked " Did they just open or are they going out of business?". Very astute observation as there was exactly one other table in the entire restaurant for our lunch. One. I've never seen that in Chicago during lunch. Lack of customers is usually a red flag for me, but we were all impressed with the loaded fries and large deep dish cheese/pepperoni pizza. Well, the cheese made me violently ill because I haven't eaten that much dairy in awhile (It was COVERED in cheese), but it tasted good and the girls liked it. Our server was very friendly and helpful. I used a Groupon to pay and the bill came out a bit wonky but I didn't try to fight it because I wasn't in the mood. All in all, a pleasant visit even though the atmosphere was dull without anyone else around for the meal. As the other reviewers state it's hard to find- it's located in the first floor of another building- go in the main doors and it's on your left.

We should've known to turn around when we walked into this place & it was empty on a Thursday night. Probably the weakest pizza I've ever tasted, and with the price tag I expected so much more. Just save your money & a trip here. Dominoes does a better and at 50% of the price.

Connie's delivers to my building, and my friends in Bridgeport swear by their pizzas. I'm a big fan of New York style pizza. I can only do deep dish when friends come to town. Connie's is your regular style pizza. It's sturdy regular pizza with a decent crust, and good quality ingredients. I like their sausage. They let their dough proof perfectly, so when it bakes it's very good and airy. I'm a fan of their calzones but be careful. They're spotty. You can tell when people who don't like calzones make them, because all the filling is lopsided. It's very frustrating. But the secret to a good calzone is the dough, since it's not covered over. They do put ricotta cheese in their calzones as is appropriate (should I say the spinach calzone). When will people understand the difference between a calzone and stromboli? Gads!

Giving only 1 star based on FOOD. Hostess was impolite, food was not good at all. We ordered medium thin crust pizza with pepperoni topping and brick-oven (wood fired)Margherita. Pepperoni came with total of 5-6 pieces of pepperoni slices and Margherita was almost with NO cheese and a gallon of tomato sauce. Very disappointing experience. no wonder the next door Lou Malnati's was packed and Connie's was empty.

I was in town for business, it was late and I was hungry. I ordered delivery from Connie's it was rated 3.5 stars so I thought I'd try it. Big mistake, big! First they charged me twice, then my order was incorrect, the driver went to the wrong location and expected me to direct him to my hotel. I am a visitor I had no idea where he was or how to tell him to get my my hotel. I asked him to gps the address- duh. Anyway, I had ordered loaded French fries, tomato, basil and cheese pizza and garlic cheese bread. All was disgusting. The fries were soggy I have no idea what they had put on for the toppings, the pizza was cold with almost no sauce the worse of it was the cheese garlic bread it was cold, barely any cheese the flavor was old. I will never eat from this place again nor will I recommend it.

Delicious, delicious pizza! This was my first time at Connie's and the customer service was just exceptional. Our waitress was very hospitable. The appetizers were on point as well as their pizza. Will definitely go back!

What a let down. I thought I loved Connies but this weekend I got one of the soggiest, most undercooked pizzas I've ever had in Chicago. I went to bat for them to all my friends and then ended up being the coward when we picked up a slice to feel it's wet, disgusting crust. Can't believe I have to say bye to what I thought was one of my favorite pizzas of all time.

Really enjoyed our lunch here today. We started off with s Cesar salad which was good and had our delicious pizza. The sauce had a nice spicy kick to it she the cheese was the best part. It seemed as if was seasoned. Well worth the wait. We really enjoyed our server Karin also. Very attentive and personable. Huge pizza at great prices. A large is big enough for 4 hungry men.

I work near by therefore used to have lunch at this establishment every other day until today of course when I ordered a take-out for dinner. Brought it back home and my boyfriend found this chunky creature crawling all over the chicken. I called the manager and explained what happened he told me that I got an industry discount on that therefore he won't refund me unless I bring back the salad with the fly in it. That's just wonderful costumer service isn't it? He told me he doesn't know if I've put the fly in there myself. Bye Bye Connie's. Never again.

This Restaurant at this Location should be ASHAMED!! I was part of a Reunion party yesterday called "Rush st. Reunion 2015" it was on a Sunday, August 30, 2015. 400 People Attended!! These are All people that Own, work, have worked or Live around or on Rush Street from the 1950's till now. Spanning over 50 years. These were all Bar & Restaurant people. There were 3 bartenders for 400 people Plus they had it open to the Public!! Like we were Not enough business for them! It took over 30 Minutes to get a drink at the bar. The hostess started helping us. Thank God for her. The Manager Michael was no where to be found and when he was he was Outside socialising. While his restaurant was packed! I never saw him help Anywhere! We were supposed to get Hors'd oeuvres passed around and that Never happened. The " Buffet" was a joke and they should be Embarrassed! It was Literally Finger Food on a Stick! They serve deep dish pizza. The pizza they had out were small mini thin crust. There were Exactly 6 things total! All in small warmers so all the food was cold. They could have cared less and everyone paid for food. But there really wasn't any. 400 people looking to eat with 1 small table. The food was cold so I could not tell you if it was even good. Being this was All Rush street people and There Neighbours you would Think they would have the Decency and Common Sense to do the right thing!! They were So Cheap on giving out food everyone left early and Hungry and went to Gibson's to eat. Don't Ever Have A Party Here! There are so many great Deep Dish pizza Places to eat at who care about their customers. This was a great Gig for them and loads of free Press for them. Now the only press they will get is Bad press! The Bar made money. But they were Totally understaffed and MICHAEL the Manager has to be rated as the worst ever! All he Reid to do from the beginning was Milk money from the event. It was for Charity as well. Disgusted and Totally Disappointed! For sure their Reputation is ruined because of their Greediness and basic "I Don't Care Attitude" I'd love to know what Delusional state the Owner of this place was in where he hired that ridiculous Manager Michael. The Bus Boys worked harder then this goof ball did!

I know it sounds generic to say that pizza is one of my favorite foods, but Pizza is one of my favorite foods! Unfortunately I didn't get good pizza :( My love of Pizzanos is borderline stalkerish and I even have them on my speed dial. I remember noticing Connie's and decided to mix things up and order delivery from them. The girl that answered the phone was really friendly. I ordered a small mid crust special (sausage, green peppers, and onion). Delivery arrived on time and I was hungry. Upon first impression I already missed my square cut pizza slices, but who cares as long as the pizza was good. It wasn't and quite bland. The sauce was weak, the cheese was overpowering, and the crust had no unique flavor. The only thing that was borderline okay was the sausage. For these pizzas to be priced as some of the best (Pizzanos, Lou, etc...) I want to find at least one thing that's better than the others and I could not. Probably won't be giving them another try for pizza, but may try the other food and dessert items.

Good pie. I got the Sicilian pie. It was a snack at 10:30 at night. The driver was polite and thoughtful. He brought plates, napkins, red pepper and grated cheese. Nice he thought of that since we were staying in hotel. Would like to try more of the menu, but my stay in town is too short.

I've only had delivery from this location. I'm extremely pleased and impressed. I was so desperate for pizza while at work that I just had to do it. Yes, I ordered a deep dish pizza and had no intentions of sharing. Anyway, the price for delivery was reasonable and they had given us a menu with $5 off coupon attached, all you needed was a $10 purchase. The driver arrived in a custom made truck with Connie's marketing which was a nice touch, not his old beat up personal vehicle which is typical of deliveries. The pizza was a good size, hot, fresh and delicious. I would have given 5 stars but the order taker told me I had to make a $25 purchase before I could use the coupon. Thank goodness the rules were printed or they wouldn't have had my order. I will definitely order from this location again in the future.

First time being at the location, talk about a busy place ,on a Thursday and it was nice out.Great decor and more up to date then the other location on archer. Food was hot and fresh. Staff members were awesome unlike the experience I had at the other location. Groupon has a great offer so look that up. will be back.

Excellent service and pizza! Our server, Kelly, was awesome, very attentive. Had a thin crust specialty pizza. It was fantastic, loaded with meat and cheese with a nice crispy crust. Very reasonable and comparable prices considering the area. They also have a great bar area and have super deals on apps/pizza certain days of the week. We're locals and will definitely be returning.

Ordered from here the other night and wasn't the best experience. The delivery guy was hella nice, but of course that's because he works for a delivery service and not the restaurant. Don't get me wrong, I needed to try at least some sort of deep dish pizza before leaving chicsago, and it was great! Got the cheese pizza with ground turkey, spinach, and mushrooms. It was excellent! The only thing was ordering on the website was a bit cumbersome and my order was delivered wrong. I ordered a diet soda because I can't have too much sugar, but what I got was regular. So I wasted money. Brought it to the delivery guys attention, and he apologized and advised that this is what he was given. Then looking at the receipt, it didn't even detail the drink at all. So just goes to show that more attention to detail needs to be had when you're a restaurant and hire a delivery company. So they don't deliver the wrong items. That's the only reason behind the 3 stars.

Upon arriving for a stay at the Thompson Chicago on the corner of Bellevue and Rush, I was happy to hear the concierge tell us that we had three solid nearby pizza options in Lou Malnati's, Pizano's, and Connie's. I already knew that I would greatly enjoy Lou Malnati's and Pizano's based on previous experiences. However, we were already very hungry, and the concierge suggested that Connie's could deliver to us the quickest. Granted, this is likely because they are the least popular of the three, but I was still open to trying a different Chicago pizzeria. Connie's Pizza has a large menu that also includes appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pasta, calzones, and some entrées. Plus, they have all sorts of pizza options: wood-fired, thin, artisan, gluten free, Connie's Original Pan, Sicilian Pan, deep dish, and stuffed. Being in Chicago, we didn't want something too thin, but we were also hungry and didn't want wait very long. Therefore, we ordered a couple of Connie's Original Pan pizzas; one sausage and one extra cheese. Both pizzas were good, and I liked the extra cheese one slightly better. There is just something about a thick pizza with lots of cheese in Chicago that always wins me over! Overall, I enjoyed our pizzas from Connie's, but I would say that they aren't quite on the same level as Lou Malnati's or Pizano's (or Giordano's either for that matter). Their delivery was prompt tough, and I appreciated that they included plates, silverware, and napkins without being asked but just knowing we were in a hotel. If you happen to be in Chicago for an event at McCormick Place, then I recommend the Connie's there as a great alternative to typical convention center food.

This place is pretty terrible. My parents and grandmother were in town for my kid's birthday and I just wanted to take them out for some pizza. First, the waitress forgot my grandma's drink, then she forgot to bring out our salad. Top it off, the salad was just bad. After a longer than usual 40-50 minutes wait, the waitress finally brought out our pan pizza. This was only the beginning of the problems. As we were chowing down on our pizza, the fire alarm suddenly goes off. BUZZ!! BUZZ!! BUZZ!! The waitress then comes by and tells us to "don't worry, this happens all the time," as the room starts to be visibly smokey. Meanwhile the alarm was going off (enough decibels to blow out an eardrum or 2) AND as the the fire dept was arriving, the waitress gives us our full tab! I mean, we didn't even finish my pizza and Connie's expects us to pay our bill?! Reluctantly, we paid anyways. I walk home with my grandmother feeling like a chump. Do yourself a favor and walk down to Lou Malantis down the block; the line might be a bit longer, but you'll avoid feeling like a chump.

We went there on a Thursday afternoon at 3:15. There were only two tables that had guests. We were seated immediately and given menus. We heard the guests at the table next to us complain that the service was very slow. After 20 minutes of not having anyone come to our table for our drink or food order, we got up and left. As we were leaving the host thanked us for coming in. (Really)??? With 8 patrons in the whole restaurant, do they have a clue? We can't comment on the food, we never got that far.

PHONE GLITCH This location recently opened in the Old Trader Vic's next to the Original Morton's. I had no idea they had even opened until I saw a coupon in the Newspaper for a two topping large thin pizza for $11. That is great incentive on a Friday Family Fun night not to cook! So my wife called. The phone person acted weird on the phone about us using a coupon. My wife assured them it was just pulled out of the newspaper. She also confirmed that she had called the State Street location. The phone person assured her that it was the State Street location. Thirty minutes go by and I walk in to pick up the pizza. The girl at the front counter has no pizza. She asks what name is the pizza under and I inform her the phone person never asked our name and I assumed it was by phone number. Most pizza companies have that crazy caller ID software. She continues to look in computer and then tells me she is going to look in back. She also asks if I ordered from the correct location. I informed her that the phone person even told us they were located in the Old Trader Vic's, so I couldn't be that wrong unless there's a pizza place at the last old location of Trader Vic's in the LOOP. Confused? Me too!!! I just want my pizza! I had a feeling that this wasn't going to be good. I knew it was going to get worse when she returned with no pizza. Instead she brought out Dwayne the online manager and Edgar the service manager. At first I thought someone had died but they came out to ask me more questions about my missing pizza. Maybe we were in the middle of an episode of PSI (Pizza Scene Investigation coming soon on CBS). Dwayne finally called over and found out my pizza was sitting at the Archer location. He apologized and informed me that there was a new person on the pizza phones and they screwed up. He then ran back into the kitchen to tell them to put on my pizza ASAP. While Dwayne was gone Edgar started talking to me, I could tell they were trying to turn a bad situation into a good one. Edgar apologized for any mishap. He was pulled away by the hostess to deal with something else. Dwayne returned and apologized again. He also gave me a tour of the newly opened space. One of my favorite features was the amazing wood burning oven. It was gorgeous. They also have a great little room for events or meetings. There is a projector hanging from the ceiling so you have no problem showing your power point presentation to the the room. They did a lot of work converting the space to be there own. The only reason for the four stars is for the customer service of Dwayne and Edgar. Both apologized for there phone persons mistake. We call that customer service. Was I mad? Yes! Was my poor family waiting outside for 45 minutes? Yes! Were we being delayed our Friday Family Fun time? Yes! But what can I do at that point? I could have yelled and stormed out but mistakes do happen. It all matters how they are handled. Dwayne hooked me up with a lifetime 10% off Connie's card, so that makes me tax free for my Chicago Pizzas. He also gave me a 20% off card on my next visit. When he found out my family was waiting outside he hooked us up with some gelato. So yeah Dwayne brought the customer service. I haven't even had a chance to review the food. Our pizza was good. I felt like the middle of the crust could have been cooked longer. I think the staff may have rushed my pizza under the circumstances. It was tasty but I know it could be better. For Connie's sake it has to get better because there is too much competition for pizza in the area. They also have a large space to fill. The gelato was delicious. We had two flavors: the cannoli and the strawberry. My little one inhaled it and I was lucky to get a few bites. Connie's is very lucky to have Dwayne. He really brought the customer service. He actually changed my opinion from disliking this place. Mistakes do happen and Connie's owned up to the phone glitch. Hopefully they have it fixed and pizzas aren't popping up at other locations. So if your looking to try some Chicago pizza in a newly remodeled location in the Gold Coast, then this is the place. They also have an express lunch for those workers who are in a hurry. Thanks again to the management for trying to make a wrong right!

My wife and I live in San Jose and visit Chicago yearly. After seeing Connie's Pizza delivery trucks all over town, we decided to go to try it. We ordered a margherita sausage pizza and expected it to taste great. And it did, it surpassed our expectations. What we didn't expect was the managing partner, Ivan, to come by to see how we enjoyed our dinner. We chatted and he shared a great story with us on how he got involved in the pizza business. His college buddy, the oldest son of the Connie's Pizza family, brought Ivan into the family business because he believed in him. And the rest is history. It gives you a good feeling when you hear stories where hard work and delicious pizza opens doors that create success. Count on it, we will definitely be back. Don't we live in a great country?

Restaurant review How have I never been to Connie's pizza... we have the frozen pizza at our workplace which are okay but I was surprised by a chance to use a groupon for a complete meal for 2 for 39 dollars. The meal started off with polpetta pizza appetizer which had nice mini meatballs with green pepper and provolone. The crust was not too thick or thin and came out fresh from the brick oven. There was a couple of slight mishaps with dirty plates at the table and also lipstick on the wine glass, but what can you do.... My minestrone soup was made with fresh ingredients with a nice blend of vegetables. My main dish was the shrimp diavolo which had ample amounts of tiger shrimp with spicy cream sauce that they had to tone down for me. I appreciate that they asked beforehand. Dessert was a nice scoop of gelato (blood orange) which was more of a sorbet. Service was top notch they were always checking in on how we were doing and the food came out quickly. Pro: fresh pizza, relatively inexpensive for italian food Cons: dirty plates/wine glass Hidden gem: 1. Sign up for VIPP- program to earn cash back 2. Daily happy hour with free food with alcohol purchase

For the time being this is a good alternative to Lou Malnatis or Ginos if you don't want to have to wait for a table. The location is in a hard to notice spot across from Gibsons and although they have tried to put some signage outside the building they don't get nearly enough people in there yet to fill their huge space. Having grown up in Naperville close to one of the original Connie's, I can't figure out why the pizzas made at their newer restaurants have never measured up to the original locations. The pizza is good and I'd still take it over Giordanos but it tastes closer to the pizza they serve at sporting events than it does from their first locations. Good place to take kids and pretty good beer list.

I have been SO pleased with Connie's Pizza. I discovered them in January and have had nothing but good experiences. Their delivery is quick and friendly. I provide their pizzas for my business fraternity's functions, and everyone loves Connie's! It has become our go-to pizza place, we all highly recommend!

Great location in the heart of everything...this casual dining spot is family friendly as well as perfectly suited for watching a game, having drinks with friends. A bit of a respite from the "Viagra" crowd. The pizzas are fairly good, nothing fancy and nothing that would impress a foodie. They did a good job renovating this place (old Trader Vic's). Only complaint is I had spoken to one of the managers about planning an event there and she never returned any of my emails or called me back, hence the three stars.

So, after calling about five places in Chicago looking for a restaurant that served "Stromboli", Connie's came through! Although it's not on the regular menu, Jaime went the extra step, checked with the chef, and offered to have it made special for our out of town guests who were looking for a good stromboli. Connie's did not disappoint and our guests (who eat stromboli on a regular basis) could not understand why something so delicious is not on the regular menu. Needless to say, it was beautifully presented (I wish I'd taken a picture of the three different Stromboli's they made for us)! Again, special thanks to Jaime for going the extra mile. Shout out to our server "Shelby" who was most attentive. Ivan, you've got a great crew there....thanks for introducing yourself.

We had our first taste of deep dish pizza at Connie's and it was delicious. We also started off with some Calamari, which was tasty also. The place is very festive and comfortable. We sat at a booth which ended up being too chilly so moved to a table. I probably would have preferred to sit at those fun tables along the bar with the high stools as there was a foot game on. I'd love to go there when it's a busy night (I think we were there on a Monday night). The waitress was nice and the staff very accommodating. It was located just around the corner from our hotel so we are very happy that we ventured in.

My family had a great dinner here. We were in the area on a Saturday night during prime dinner hours and we could not get a seat at Giordano's or Quartino which are both in touristy locations in River North. I remembered seeing Connie's Pizza in the Gold Coast further north, so I gave them a call and they said there was no wait. First, the dining room is beautiful and looks brand new. It is also huge and could easily accommodate a party of any size. Our server was super friendly and nice; she explained the difference between artisian and middle-weight crust and took pictures of us at our table at our request. As for the food, we got the BBQ Chicken and Specialty pizzas with artisian crust and they were both delicious. The artisian crust was perfect for us as we wanted something thicker than thin crust, but not a full deep dish. Someone in our group also got a ravioli pasta dish which she rated highly. Overall, it was a great experience, and I will be returning the next time I am looking to dine in for pizza (or pasta, sandwiches or anything else Italian - their menu has it all!). I do not know why the dining room was so empty when all the pizza places downtown were so full - maybe its location? Regardless, I recommend Connie's as a great place on its own, but especially if there are long waits at the other pizza spots, then there is absolutely no reason why you should not go here.

Not only does Connie's Pizza have delicious pizza, but great customer service! Their employees are friendly and delivery is on time. Connie's has supplied pizza for many of my business fraternity's events and provides lots of extras with every order including utensils and seasoning packets. I highly recommend Connie's for events meant to feed the masses!

We held are wedding rehearsal dinner in the private room at Connie's Pizza on State St. Let me start by reviewing the private event space. The room is perfect. It is open and bright. The food was excellent. All our guests raved about how good the pizza and pasta was. But while the food and room was perfect, was made the night so enjoyable was the service. When we arrived at 1 PM to deliver centerpieces and other decorations for the room, Connie's staff did not just help us bring it to the room, but helped setup the room. It was much appreciated. Throughout the night, the room was well staffed and never had to wait long for drinks. The location is also perfect. Located in an iconic part of Chicago, it was great for both local and out of town guests. I am glad that we selected Connie's on State.

Until recently this place was pretty concealed, being sequestered in a big, bland building shared with a couple of small businesses and not much visual advertising outside. Good to see they've started putting banners on the side of the building along State street because this is a nice and convenient pizza joint. Unlike most places, Connie's has four styles of pizza: thin, medium, deep dish, and stuffed crust. I've had all but the medium before, and the stuffed crust is my favorite. Kind of like the density and thickness of a Giordano's-type stuffed pizza, except Connie's has a layer of crust on the top like a pie. (I also like it more than Giordano's). Their deep dish isn't anything too unexpected although the dough they use is kind of light and airy in a way, which makes it feel a lot less heavy than the average deep dish. Their biggest plus in my book is that their pizza has always tasted pretty fresh which goes a long way for me. I'd definitely recommend giving Connie's a shot if you're from out of town and want to try some Chicago pizza.

We came to Connie's and we were immediately impressed by the restaurant and bar area! All 6 of us sat at the bar and the bartender was beyond great! Customer service was excellent, attentive and very prompt! He added to our experience! On to the food! It was great! We got 3 different appetizers and all were fabulous! We all got pizza of different types and everyone loved it!! You cannot go wrong coming here! We are from Detroit area so we are pickier then most and we had a great experience!!

3 stars for food. 1 star for service. This new Gold Coast's location management team is HORRIBLE!!!! Absolute clueless! Rude, short, not accommodating, and don't really care if they want business. Offered no addtional information when asked. Taking our group elsewhere.

We felt like family! The staff at Connie's pizza on State St. are amazing. The pizza was delicious, as was the gelato. I took my family from Colorado to try Chicago pizza and Connie's didn't disappoint. But, I have to admit that I cannot say enough great things about the friendly service. I will be back and I will recommend Connie's pizza to everyone.

I had a blast at Connie's. Great ambiance matched with great pizza. There was live entertainment that my guests and I enjoyed. The waitress was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. I recommend the wood burning pizza... Great crispy crust ;)

This place just opened last week to local residents and is now open to the public. I have now had a slice inside and I had some when some friends who live inside the Newberry Plaza building ordered out. It is located in the Newberry Plaza Building. The service is friendly, patient and accommodating. They handed out some 20 % off coupons to people who live in the neighborhood. You can request the pizza to be made in different ways. This place is located where The Grotto and Trader Vic's once were. I once waited 40 minutes for the nachos at Trader Vic's but that is another story for another time :) conniespizza.com/state-s… The web site above says they are in operation on Friday and Saturday till 1AM.. They also have wine. I live in this hood and the general view is from the 20 people that I know who I have spoken to since last week is that the wine pour is like 2 oz's or 2.5 oz's . I would reccomend that they increase that to 4 oz's and then no one will care what the wine pour is. I only write by skipping lines so people pay attention and not for any other reason. This could be good for large amounts of people who are having a night out or whatever. I will go back and update in the next few weeks on the wine situation or other people can do it for me.

Delicious pizza and amazing staff. Try the stuffed pizza, or the special calamari which comes with giard! Definitely recommend this Chicago staple.

If you're looking to host an event in a beautiful, updated space with good food and fantastic service, Connie's Gold Coast location is a GREAT option. We hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner at Connie's Gold Coast location and we could not be happier with our choice. When trying to pick out a rehearsal dinner venue, we knew we wanted to do something affordable and unique to Chicago, all the while pleasing a crowd of about 30 guests. Connie's deep dish pizza was the perfect choice, and their new, beautifully updated Gold Coast location made it all the better. If you haven't seen it yet--you should pop in. After our initial inquiry, my then fiancé and I visited Connie's for lunch to check out the new and updated menu and their private dining space. Ivan was on location that day and was a fantastic and friendly tour host. Between his friendliness and the great private dining space offered for larger parties, we were sold. After our visit, their group coordinator was very accommodating and easy to work with. We told her the number of people and what sort of dining options we were looking for, and she put together an affordable, customized package just for our group including appetizers, 3 different pizza options (including their new, tasty wood fire oven pizzas!) and dessert. Connie's offers many different combinations, so they'll help you put together whatever you need for your guests. The night of our dinner could not have gone better. Everything was set up just as requested when we arrived. (They even have audio and TV screen options if you want to run a photo slide show or your personal playlist). Servers were on hand to get our guests drinks while they mingled before dinner was served. Service during the meal was also excellent as Connie's staff brought out the menu items. Drinks were always filled, and dirty dishes removed promptly. All of our guests loved the spinach dip and bruschetta, as well as the sausage deep dish and wood fire oven pizzas. The cannoli and brownies for dessert were big hit to end the meal. All of our guests--especially the out of town guests who had never had deep dish before--were completely impressed with the location, food and service. We are still receiving compliments as to what a great idea it was for a rehearsal dinner.

Connie's always has consistently amazing pizza with an equally amazing staff. Unlike every other "Chicago Pizza" place in the city, instead of trying to mimic each other's pizza, Connie's actually has distinguishable taste and qualities, which I end up craving rather than the typical Chicago deep dish pizza. On top of that, if you aren't in the deep dish mood, their pan crust pizzas are fantastic as well. Always had a great experience here, even with larger groups. Delivery/catering has always been on-time and shows up hot and delicious, always freshly baked.

I will keep this short and to the point.... Do not get the Margarita Pizza. This pizza honestly tasted like dough, just plain dough. I probably emptied out half the canister of pepper flakes just to give it something. $9 for a Bud Light?! This price isn't reasonable considering Luxbar is 10 steps away and has Connie's beat in food and drinks hands down. I went there to catch the Blackhawks game and although they were showing it, their sound system is about 20 seconds off. A commercial would be playing with the sports commentating still going on.

We got an amazing Groupon deal for this location so when we were downtown over the holiday weekend we took advantage of it. Our Groupon included a wood-fired pizza, two entrees with salads and two craft beers or glasses of wine and the total cost amounted to what an entree and a drink typically would. Like i said, it was a really good deal. The restaurant was spacious and had a comfortable, inviting ambiance. The staff were attentive and very friendly. Our two young sons each ordered a kid's pizza which they both enjoyed (and the size was more than enough, they actually could have shared one pizza) and my husband and I ordered the Margherita pizza. The crust was especially delicious, (wood-fired pizzas are the best in my opinion) I just wish the sauce had more flavor. We each had a house salad with Italian dressing, or maybe I should say we had Italian dressing with a salad garnish because the salad was drowning in dressing. The salad would have been delicious if not for the overpowering, soggy dressing. My husband ordered the lasagna and I had the chicken marsala. The flavor was pretty good, but there was way too much sauce, it was like my chicken breasts and fettuccine were served in soup. The presentation was seriously lacking. Between the beige chicken breasts, beige pasta and light brown sauce, it looked boring and a little unappetizing actually. Fresh herb garnish anyone? My husband said his lasagna was very good, but again, the presentation was boring and uninspired. Overall the food tasted good, but nothing was outstanding and the way the food looked was almost embarrassing. (when I serve my two little ones at home I garnish, visuals are important!) The staff made up quite a bit for the disappointing food, they were great. We would consider eating there again, but some simple improvements would go a long way.

Was meeting friends after work for dinner and wanted to find a place nearby that didn't blow my paycheck. Had no idea a Connie's was opened in the Gold Coast. Sweet!! The place itself is nice and while it's a pizza restaurant, it doesn't have the cheesy Buffalo Wild Wings feel of Lou Malnati's nearby. You could take your sweet lady on a legitimate date here. Service was great and we ordered a variety of brick oven pizzas with different apps. The pizzas were super fresh and delicious. My friends had red wine (they said it was pretty damn good and inexpensive for the quality). I had a gin and basil cocktail. New favorite drink...must try!! Overall, will definitely be back. Great for groups and after work happy hour/dinners when I want to go to a nice place but not walk into an overpriced tourist trap. Short walk to the red line grand stop.

The food was great but the service was lacking. We waited for a table but half the restaurant was empty. Once we got a table no one came for our order for over 10 minutes. Once the manager realized it we were helped but by 5 different people. They messed up our pizza order and made it right by throwing in a desert. All the food we ate was delicious- it just wasn't the greatest experience getting it. Maybe it was a rough night. Warning: the deep dish pizza while delicious is not the cheese stuffed Gino's version you may be expecting.

connies, you impressed us. we came in with a restaurant.com and there was no fuss or disgust about it. we shared the spinach artichoke dip and mozzeralla sticks as well as a pan spinach and cheese pizza. the place was pretty empty, but our server Rachel was attentive and friendly and seemed to know the menu inside and out. we appreciated that she didn't give us any attitude about using a discount. (since I am a cocktail server, just a tip to all my fellow yelpers, make sure you tip off the bill PRIOR to the discount) my boyfriend got a basil gin drink and it was the bomb dot com. we will definitely be back! actually we can't wait until our next pizza night. bravo connie!

Had a thin crust supreme and it was delicious! Technically I ordered a different pizza but the waitress messed up the order. I had to pick off sausage and olives but none the less it was good. The manager and waitress apologized and bought us dessert. It was great customer service.

FOOD: the appetizers were decent, and the pizza was great, featuring quality ingredients and a crust that is both flaky on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The gelato was especially good. SERVICE: was friendly and helpful. Our server checked in on us regularly and was cheerful throughout. AMBIANCE: is average in terms of decor and clean. There is interesting decor/pictures. The restaurant is large and has an event room for groups/parties. Parking is not easy and valet costs $14. VALUE: decent for a deep dish pizza joint.

We had the four seasons and the italian beef pizza. Food was actually good, but service was more disappointing than the Star Wars Christmas special. Our waiter took 15 minutes to address us even after the host went to "find him." After taking our order he immediately started chatting with the folks on table next to us. I had a restaurant.com coupon, which you don't need to print because it has no bar code, but waiter refused to write down the coupon number and insisted that the only way was to take my phone to the back and show the manager. He came back without the phone and said "the manager was still looking at it." Worst part is that the small print had a minimum purchase necessary so they couldn't take it. That was my fault, but the way they handled it made me feel pretty naked.

This review is for pick up only. Received a mailer / coupon for but one get one free, so we decided to check it out. Ordered a thin crust pizza & an artisanal pizza. Both tasted good but the thin crust wasn't thin at all! It was just as thick as a New York style pizza. And same for the artisanal style pizza. Actually there wasn't much of a difference in those pizza styles. Overall, it was good bot great. But if we didn't have the get one free coupon it would have been very expensive for mediocre pizza.

Wow. Not sure about the pizza but do yourself a favor and avoid the pasta/ entrees. I ordered chicken Marsala off grub hub and was delivered something that looked and resembled like a dish my 8 year old daughter made. Unfortunately it tasted like it too. Unseasoned bad small chicken breasts thrown in a grease pile of soaking wet fettuccine and raw mushrooms in a pool of olive oil (I hope). It's not often I write reviews unless something was incredibly good or incredibly bad. Unfortunately this was really bad. I guess I'll try the pizza next time.

Came for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Food was great. Service was wonderful. Great, spacious event room. We had the deep dish sausage which was delicious. Others had the veggie and margarita and really enjoyed theirs too. Then they brought out dessert (brownies and cannoli) which disappeared so fast you'd think they were free money. Would definitely come back.

My family and I love this place. The staff is so friendly & helpful, but most importantly, the pizza is delicious. We always get a thin crust pizza with veggies and a chopped salad. I recommend getting chopped garlic on your pizza, if you like garlic that is. Management is great, in particular Edgar who has been so accommodating and always makes sure we are pleased. The wait staff is so kind and gives great service. Servers JJ and Cesar were on top of our every request our last visit. Overall a great place for dinner wether you're with a group, family or on a date. Such a great addition to the hood. Thanks to everyone here for the great service!

We aye there last night. The waiter we had was fantastic. Asked if we were from Chicago, when we told him no, he went on to explain that pizza in Chicago is different than we were used to. Chicago pizza is the bomb compared to what we were used to. I would definitely go back I'd we were in town again.

I used the groupon to have a stuffed pizza here earlier this week. It was just ok. It was probably 70% cheese. Just be aware of that. It wasn't bad, but wasn't all that great. Maybe a different kinda of pizza there is better. On the plus side the service was very good and the staff very cool.

I went ordered delivery from here a few days ago and the pizza was just outstanding. There was a little mix up with our order, but the problem was quickly rectified. My brother had the stuffed cheese pizza and I had the deep dish with everything on it. The food was delicious. When I return to Chicago I will be going there again.

Connie's pizza is trying to get better with their food. I had lunch there recently. I ordered a cheese burger because I didn't feel like eating their pizza. I have noticed they are making their burger looks nicer with a pretzel bun and a beefy burger. I felt the burger needed some flavor. Their french fries and potato chips are a nice touch they were tasty. They also give you large portions and the service is very friendly.

My wife and I ordered delivery from here through Grubhub and will never do it again. The pizza was OK, mine was luke warm and my wife's gluten free pizza was good for what it was. Why was my pizza luke warm? I would suspect that it took almost an hour and a half to show up. After 90 minutes and a series of questions I got to the bottom of it. When I ordered the pizza at 7PM Grubhub indicated it would take 60-70 minutes. I figured a deep dish pizza might take an extra 10-20 minutes so I did not get upset until we were 90 minutes in. I called the restaurant and they told me that it delivery times would be over 2 hours and that it had been like that for 4+ hours. The lady on the phone told me that it is probably better in the future to just order direct than to use Grubhub. My next call was to Grubhub to inquire as to why they said it should only be 60-70 minutes. Apparently when a restaurant gets busy they are supposed to contact the site and tell them about longer delivery times. I would have immediately canceled my order and found somewhere who could deliver before 9:00. When the delivery guy finally arrived at 9:15 the guy handed me the pizza rather rudely. When I told him it would have been nice to have the pizza less than 2 hours after it was ordered he was like ya probably.

Well....it's been almost 30 years since I had Connie's pizza and noticed they opened a location on the North Side. I figured I would give 'em a try in hopes of rekindling some memories of delicious pizza way back when in Bridgeport. Ordered the "middleweight" crust with sausage (their signature pizza) and was not pleased. I agree with many recent reviews written for their main location (the one I frequented 3 decades ago) that speak to the pizza tasting like something you would buy frozen and heat up at home. Yes...my Connie's has went corporate and lost the appeal it had for many years. Sad.....a Papa John's pizza is actually now better.

service was excellent, some of their pizzas have some taste but chicago is a serious pizza town and this felt like a foreign restaurant's take and totally unsatisfying. You can do a lot better unless you're desperate-or a tourist. The service keeps it at 2 stars rather than one because they really are pros. The deep dish was what dominos considers their regular pies. not up to stuff.

The Staff is the best! Edgar the manager is a rock star. He is friendly and gracious. Samantha, Alex and Eric are awesome at the bar. The specials, you can not beat. If you sign up for emails, there is something everyday. On a Friday at the bar my friend and I got free pub chips and an antipasto plate. Run don't walk. Keep this gem going

A friend back home told us to try Connie's when my boyfriend and I were in Chicago, and it was very good. We got one of their topping combinations with italian sausage, olives, and a couple other things. Chicago style deep-dish, of course, and it was definitely heaping with delicious, fresh toppings, but I personally prefer more cheese than was on this one. The location was also great, just a few blocks from our hotel. Apparently this was a very new location, as Connie's is more of a southside Chicago staple and they just recently ventured north.

Nice service, albeit it was quiet on a Sunday night. We stayed away from the pizza though, because we like St. Louis-style thin crust. I must say I loved the buffalo chicken salad, which was a special, and my husband thought the fried chicken was good. We'll be back soon!

We love this Connies on State! Love their thin crust, but you have many choices on crust. Their cheese is wonderful, and plentiful! Sauce is superb! Their Chopped salad with grilled chicken is our favorite. The atmosphere is so cozy, and inviting. We were well taken care of, and even got a complimentary gelato. This was our fourth time there, and every time was consistant. We think the wait staff is great. We didn't need a thing, and they were very kind.

ordered pick up on a Wed night- ready within a half hour! brand new, very nice inside. great big chicken parm sandwich for $10 that includes a side. the grilled veggies were a little too oily for me but a good sized portion. ordered the middleweight crust ham and pineapple pizza which was also delicious. will definitely be back for dine-in.

I got food poisoning from Connie's pizza yesterday when they were serving pizza by the slice at McCormick place during the 150 th Dental Convention in Chicago. Stay away from their booth!!! I can't attend the Convention because of them!

The fact that Connie's responded to my review within 24 hours earns them a star back. They care about their customers and their feedback.

Went to this place with a group of people. It's a decent pizza place, especially nice for a large group. The pizza and pasta are all very good! Not expensive as well!

The delivery services can be problematic, but for good food that everyone wants because of demand sometimes you make mistakes, but man they will make it right. The Italian Beef my fav,m extra Gad and a dipping bbowl.

connies, you impressed us. we came in with a restaurant.com and there was no fuss or disgust about it. we shared the spinach artichoke dip and mozzeralla sticks as well as a pan spinach and cheese pizza. the place was pretty empty, but our server Rachel was attentive and friendly and seemed to know the menu inside and out. we appreciated that she didn't give us any attitude about using a discount.

Service was terrible on a Saturday night. Took them 30 mins to even ask if we wanted water refills. Asked for the waiter through other waiters and busboys repeatedly. Will not be coming back

My one star is only for delivery. Don't order deliver on a Friday or Saturday night during prime times. They will push your order back for in-house customers.

Everyone from Chicago has an opinion on the best pizza joint around and in my opinion this is it. The food is great and the staff is friendly. Never had a bad experience with Connies

Got the cheese bread appetizer. It tasted like the dough had been in the freezer for a long time. Not very good. Pizza was okay at best.

Had a fantastic dinner at Connie's! The service was awesome - our water cups never got below halfway full. I loved the woodfire pizza - amazing crust!! Great vibe. Great food. Great time. Will definitely be coming back soon.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
