I wanted so much to like this place more than just 3 stars. Tried to find as many positives as I could, but still only ended up with 3 but it's really more 3.5. A little back story, was in wicker with my gf and it was snowing so we just wanted to order delivery. Seems like the closest 10 Chinese places that were open and delivered were all 3.5 stars so it's kind of just a guess. I was really hungry and this place had 'fast' in the name, so I was pretty much sold on that. Called in and ordered out food. Didn't give an estimate on when they would come, Ended up coming in 20 minutes so that was definitely a plus. One thing that bothered me is that we ordered orange chicken and Mongolian beef. She asked if we wanted the dinner or the big size. We didn't want a big size since it was just us 2, so we said dinner, not knowing what that meant, just thinking that it was smaller than a big. Dinner means it comes with fried rice, an egg roll and a drink. We didn't know, and still ordered another order of combo fried rice. Maybe she just thought we love fried rice, but still, we had 4 servings of fried rice pretty much for us 2. Other than that, everything was alright. Decent size food for the price you pay. Full thing was 28 bucks, so take off the extra fried rice and it would have been less than $20 for both of us. Orange chicken was good, but has a little bit too much sauce for my liking. The Mongolian beef is a little spicy. I also feel like it doesn't have enough meat and too much vegetables, but that's what my girlfriend liked about it. We also got an order of crab ragoons. Those were eh. I prefer mine super crunchy and these were just a little crunchy. and the insides were more cream cheese than crab tasting. If you want fast and easy, then this place is fine.

I love this place. Good food, huge portions, and CHEAP! It is by no means gourmet, but for a typical cheap Chinese joint it is great. They live up to the "fast" in China Fast Wok, I live about a mile or so away and it always gets delivered within a half hour, always fresh. Oh and the lunch and dinner specials come with an enormous serving a fried rice, an egg roll, and a can of pop, all for under $7. My personal favs are the Sweet and Sour Chicken (sauce comes in a separate container!), General Tso Chicken, and Hunan Beef. I didn't like the Garlic Chicken, chicken isn't breaded and way too many water chestnuts and mini corns.

I usually get the dinner special ! Been here a variety of times, & I will continue to order from here, the best Chinese Take out by bucktown/Humboldt park/Logan square/Wicker Park that I know of!

This place had changed. We used to order here several times a week for a big family, but now they are rip offs. They used to give a decent amount of meat, some places give more, but the flavor here made up for it. Now not even the flavor is worth buying here. They're expensive and then they deceive you buy giving you gravy with tons of vegetables and just a few pieces of meat that you have to dig for. I called and complained and they said the manager won't allow them to give more meat but that I can pay more for more meat. Well guess what? I paid for meat, but I didn't get more meat! I complained but they don't care. This place is going downhill for being greedy. By the way this place is not Vegan or Vegatarian friendly either.

Great gringo Chinese! Not very authentic but big, good, fast grub. I love the dumplings and crab rangoons.

The 5 years I lived in Chicago, this was my go-to for cheap, comfort, snowy day, putting on a movie Friday night, busting out the sweatpants, go ahead and judge me, leftovers for days, family meal for 1, pay day dinner, where's my big cereal bowl Chinese food. It is the quintessential Americanized Chinese cuisine executed flawlessly. And on the cheap! Everyone is always so friendly. Especially that old delivery driver, always with the giant grin. Quick service even on the busiest of nights. My favorites from their menu: -Sweet and sour chicken (The batter is ridiculous and the sauce is delivered in a separate container to pour at your discretion. KEY.) -Orange beef or chicken -Combination lo mein -Mongolian beef -Any fried rice of theirs is legit

I've never disliked anything I've ordered from here. I'm a huge fan of the Hunan beef. Another huge plus is that delivery is always really fast.

I Been coming to this place or place a delivery service and it has been good very good. until this year this is my third time I order from this place and they give the wrong order or incomplete order .I don't know what is going on with the cooks or the people working there but it is getting bad. I mean the food is good but incomplete food is not right . I order a beef Lo mein with spice and I got the order with out the beef does this make sense. last time I order was eggrolls and they send me an egg patty then the other time I ask for fried rice they send me white rice, so I said this time I will go pick it up even though I picked it up they gave me beef lo mein with out the beef. this sucks I never experience this none sense from them until now.

How's this for a first review. I have ordered from here a couple of times before and really enjoyed my food, so on my way home, I ordered some Chicken with garlic sauce and pork lo mein. I ended up getting pork with garlic sauce but they got the extra spicy part right, so I was willing to overlook it. I was enjoying my pork lo mein as it was pretty damn good and was made with those americanized lo mein noodles which I appreciate. In one unfortunate bite, everything changed. After putting a chopstick full of lo mein in my mouth and starting to chew, I noticed something was wrong. I got an unwelcome blast of bitterness in my mouth like I've never tasted before and instantly spit out the mouthful. I didn't see anything there, then wiped the remaining bits off my tongue and was horrified. The bitter taste came from A BUG! A tiny, black ladybug looking thing! IN MY MOUTH! IN MY FOOD! I finally got it all out of my mouth, but needless to say, I was no longer enjoying my lo mein...and sadly won't be returning because insects in my food is were I draw the line. Damn, I thought this was gonna be my cheap neighborhood Chinese spot. The search continues...

China fast walk is a great american Chinese food place. They're super fast and always nice. I get $10 of food that lasts at least 2-3 meals. Smoothies are not as good.

  • Christina S.

I've been here a couple of times the food is ok I've had the orange chicken it tastes ok but a little bland.the eggrolls are disgusting I don't know what they use to make them but I hate them. The fried rice is pretty good but I've had better. The egg fo Yung is pretty good.all I can say us this place isn't good but it isn't bad either.

  • Abe R.

The food is solid, hot, huge, and I have never had a single stomach ache after eating here, which I do almost weekly. Maybe I've built up an immunity or maybe I'm just a full on hardcore tough M.F. Probably the latter. Bwahahahaha!!! Enjoy Suckas'!!!

My go to chinese joint when I'm at the office. You won't believe how much food they will pack your box for only $5-6!! Great Chinese food at a good price- everyone's happy!

  • Daniel M.

This is off the street in a little strip mall if you've having trouble spotting it. It's standard delivery "Chinese" food; exactly what you expect it to be. It's better than any other Chinese delivery place within walking distance. The soup isn't great, though.

  • Amy M.

I ordered the pot stickers many many times and thought they were delicious until I found a small piece of plastic inside one. Haven't been back and don't plan on it. I understand things can happen in a kitchen so I will give them an extra star for their awesome bubble teas!

This place is good and cheap. I get combo fried rice and crab rangoon (simple Chinese food catered toward Americans) and it gets to my house in half an hour. Good stuff.

    (3)
  • Angela T.

In a word -- disgusting! Perhaps the folks raving about this place have heartier digestive systems than anyone in our house. We've tried several dishes on three occasions and all have given us horrible indigestion and left us feeling hungover the day after. I presume that's the MSG kicking in. Everything looks like it was pulled from the freezer and the meat is the worst, fattiest, most disgusting pieces of I don't know what. I suppose this is what you would expect from the super low prices you pay in a hole in the wall Chinese takeout. My advice? Just don't. Don't.

    (1)
  • Ramona v.

The Sesame Tofu is awesome, enough to eat for 3 meals, probably 4 if I didn't get so excited the first day and eat way too much. Eaten here many times, I have never gotten sick, just very full and happy.

  • Marie B.

I order fried rice with pork and spicy chiken wings almost every time and it's pretty good. the food tastes good and the price is reasonable. only problem? the chicken doesn't come up with a side. :(

Maybe this is just some sort of weird thing with my body or maybe it's normal. But as soon as I'm done at the gym, I crave bad things. Things that will cancel out all the benefits of what I have just done. The harder I work out the more my body says to me, "you must replace the bad cholesterol, now" or "I miss my simple sugars!" Most of the time when this reaction happens, I crave a fatty, cheesy gordita or enchilada from a taqueria. And Logan Square has these in abundance. But, one Saturday I found myself craving fried rice. This is one thing Logan Square is in noticeably short supply of. Or so I thought. I have passed the intersection of California and Armitage hundreds of times and, yet, I had no idea there was a Chinese restaurant there. I have to say they're well hidden behind the 7-11 and National City Bank that dominates the mini-mall they're in. But somehow even at 2:00 p.m. (waking up early to go to the gym, who does that?), they were doing a steady business. Their secret must be that they're the only place I've seen in Logan Square that makes (deliciously decadent) bubble teas! Now it's storefront Chinese so I didn't expect a miracle of greatness with the fried rice - and it, therefore, lived up to my expectations. It was just average and tasted high in sodium (my body thanked me for replenishing this vital "nutrient" that I had so selfishly sweated out) but the portion was significant and it was dirt cheap ($3.25 for a pint). I know it was fresh because some of the staff was shucking peapods right at the table next to me. And they put water chestnuts in it! That's an accoutrement that was sadly missing in a lot of my recent Chinese excursions. Their name, also, is not wrong. They are fast. The whole thing was in and out of the wok in about five minutes. Now, I can't vouch for how fast their delivery is but if it's anything like the in-store, the next time I crave the carbs they'll be on speed dial. They deliver all over the city from Halsted to Cicero from Madison to Irving Park for $2.50. And to most of BucktHumbLoganDale for $1.50. While this place, overall, isn't quite worth a run after a run, it's definitely worth a fast wok er walk after a fast walk!

Sorry Shelby I like my Chinese food cheap and good. I am not looking for authentic. Is there better Chinese food around yes. Am I rich no! This place fits my needs good food and a great price! Get the Mongolian beef it's excellant.

  • Adam M.

The food follows the standard positives that I like in Chinese food: It was cheap, and it was good. Did it blow me away? No, but IT WAS CHEAP and IT WAS GOOD. This automatically gets three stars. This place gets an extra star for the large portions that come with it + the fried rice, egg roll, fortune cookie you get with a dinner/lunch meal.

    (4)
  • Jennifer K.

It's cheap...who on earth is expecting gourmet cooking from a place called China Fast Wok? If you were expecting something more, than obviously you are not well-versed in the fine art of eating cheap and good in the hood. There is enough to share or eat at midnight, take your pick...they have every dish imaginable, and guess what? American Chinese food isn't real Chinese food anyway! I'm about to order at 7:15pm. It will be here by 7:39pm. What more can you ask for during a snowstorm?

  • Kensey W.

i come here a lot. i mean a lot. the food is fast and hot and fresh and cheap. the lunch combo usually lasts me three meals and it costs five dollars (dinner is the same but about seven dollars). i just don't think that can be beat. the soup is three dollars for a quart. it's unseemly. it's not the best tasting but it's not bad either. like other chinese fast food, it does err on the side of being very greasy though, so if you're prissy about things like that, you should probably avoid. i usually get szechuan beef because it comes with a lot of veggies and the beef is tender. it comes with a fried rice that is really good - it has bean sprouts! i've also had some jumbo shrimp dishes and the crab rangoon. the crab rangoon is not so good. oh and the chow fun is not great either. anyway, it's really great when you're in a rush or just feelings extremely lazy.

I've been getting pick up and delivery from this place for 10 years. Best quick and yummy Chinese in the area. I also love that its been the same delivery guy all these years. Love that guy! The specials are the best way to go. Other favorites are the Shrimp Mei Feng and BBQ Pork. Very good quality vegetables which is most important to me. And such a bang for your buck.

upon just moving to Logan Square I was looking for good Chinese food spot for shrimp fried rice and egg rolls, I wasn't disappointed with nor was a greatly satisfied, I'm not sure was lacking but there's clearly something missing when it comes to the fried rice besides the shrimp and a decent size portion of egg mixed in. The price however you can not beat if you are working on a shoe-string budget most months like myself, you get a great size portion for the price. I got a tray of shrimp fried rice, 1 egg roll and a huge side of sweet and sour chicken for $7.25 it was enough for me and my roommate with a little left over for a mid-morning snack. However I'm still on the quest to find that perfect shrimp fried rice so if anyone know's a great spot somewhere between logan - wicker park let me know.

I have never been the biggest fan of Chinese food. I was actually quite frightened of it as a child, I wouldn't eat anything other than white rice, rolls, and fortune cookies. But then I got a little older and realized Chinese food is just chicken or beef in yummy sauce with lots of good veggies and tasty rice. Whoa, I like Chinese food. Especially now, being vegetarian, they have tons of delicious veggie friendly options. I got delivery from Fast Wok, and was pleasantly surprised at how cheap it was. The delivery charge is only $1.50-2.50 depending what vicinity you live to the place. The delivery guy was right on time and the food was still piping hot! I got the mixed veggie dinner, and was pleasantly surprised by how huge the portions were. Loads of rice, and fresh veggies. The egg rolls were pretty big too, I was contemplating ordering an extra because I love them, but was plenty happy with just one. I stuffed my face until I couldn't possibly continue and it looks like I barely made a dent. I will be eating my leftovers for lunch and dinner today as well. Great Place!

Lets be honest folks. When you drive by this place, you know exactly how it works. You grab the paper menu, you order by number, and 8 minutes later, your food is prepared and piping hot. But here's what happened. I live nearby, and have been here quite a few times. And honestly? It is GOOD. All the BS Chinese Food Faves, General Tso's (crunchy, fatty, sweet and delicious), decent hot and sour soup, and AMAZING fruit smoothies (all fresh fruit). This place is much, much better than it needs to be. HUGE portions, cheap as can be, and GREAT, fresh flavors. And by the way, the actual wok they use (you can see the Chinese dudes in back) is frickin HUGE and cool. Sign me up, Fast Wok. You've won(ton)'d my heart. You heat my mongolian beef. Your my Mein-Chow. You Sichuan me over. You... you get the idea.

Honestly, what can be said of another cheap-as-Hell chinese food place nestled in a plaza complete with the standard array of banks and 7-Elevens. A lot, actually. This place is definitely better than a lot of the lower-end Chinese food places I've been to (and as a lover of Chinese, I've been to a lot). They offer very large portions for exceptionally low prices. And the kicker? The food is actually GOOD. I love this place, and it's my go-to not-fancy-Chinese place. One complaint I have? The delivery driver yelled at me one time to get out of his way. That was pretty rude, brah.

    (4)
  • Valissa W.

$4.90 for a lunch special that could easily last me three meals, I really shouldn't complain! But... The chicken fried rice tastes burnt. Probably because it took the better part of forever to make my order even though I was the only person there. Ok so it's not DELICIOUS and it wasn't FAST, but I wouldn't really dock them 2 stars for that. My biggest problem? The food comes in a pretty typical styrofoam container... with STAPLES. I am sure that somebody, somewhere, was trying to be nice and make sure my food didn't spill in the bottom of the brown bag tightly secured by extra cardboard, which was then stapled shut again and secured even further by an additional, completely unnecessary plastic bag, but this is overkill! Once I got through the 18th layer of packaging I was completely ravished and so excited to see that white box of yumminess finally unearthed.... only to find that it was stapled shut, requiring me to spill half of the juice from these tasty contents just to get it open. Grrr!

Ive been ordering from China Fast Wok for over 2 years, and it is almost always pretty good:) There was only one time that i ordered a noodle dish that was watery and did not taste good, but every one time i was pleased with my order. They deliver super fast since i live pretty close to them. You also get a lot of food for cheap price, especially if you get one of their dinner specials!

This place offers amazing portion sizes at a great price. The quality isn't "5-star" for all options, but this isn't supposed to be 5-star Chinese food. This is Chinese fast food. This is why it's called "China FAST Wok." This is waiting-for-my-paycheck, too-tired-to-cook, I-hate-dishes, wow-only-15-minute-pickup Chinese food, with a few surprisingly-good options.

This place is surprisingly good Chinese food. Its not the best, but definitely not bad either. Chinese food isn't the easiest thing to find in the area, let alone a place to get a quick lunch (I work in the area but don't have a car.) I always get the sweet and sour chicken lunch special at a very decent price and routinely receive very generous proportions. It also comes with an egg roll and a fortune cookie. My coworkers always make fun of me for ordering from the "bad chinese food place" but secretly, I like the food and that's why I keep ordering it. The food is always ready in 15 minutes (pick-up) and super hot when I get it. Also, I saw a commenter earlier say that they felt hungover after eating a meal from here, assuming that it was MSG kicking in- but they clearly state that they don't use MSG or anything of the like on their menu, so that person has no idea what she's talking about.

The first time I ordered it took an HOUR for the food to arrive. Not so excited about that. But the food was very cheap and it was BEYOND good. I'm from the East Coast and we know our Chinese! I had to order again! This time they arrive fairly quick! Love the crab rangoon, sesame chicken is good. I mean the rice could be a tad bit better but whatevs! I'm not too excited about the delivery man who begs for tips when they charge you a delivery fee anyway. I know it might not be the same but I'm a college student I don't have all this money to be giving away to begging delivery guys who drive Camry 08's. I'm just saying..

As mentioned in previous reviews, prices are cheap. 3 of us ate for $20 one time and had leftovers. The wonton soup is the best quick fix for hangovers or the frigid winter. For $3, you get a huge carton of soup packed with savory pork dumplings. The mongolian beef and sweet and sour pork are both pretty good and if you order a lunch or dinner special it comes with a mountain of fried rice and an eggroll. Of course Fast Wok does not measure up to really good Chinese food, but if you take it for what it is (fast food take-out) it's pretty satisfactory.

Warning... my wife got really sick after eating here. Woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible fever, really dizzy and confused, typical food poisoning symptoms. I went in the next day to ask for a refund. I wasn't angry or making a fuss, I just wanted my money back. They made me wait for the manager to come over and told me they can't give me my money back because I can't prove it was their food that made her sick. They also wanted proof of a hospital visit, and I had to explain multiple times that taking the CTA to a hospital at 3:00 in the morning with a high fever just doesn't work. I was really surprised how resistant they were, since I've eaten there before and this is the first trouble I've had. I won't see that $20 bucks again, and they won't see my business again.

This isn't Friendship Chinese by any stretch of the imagination, but if you live in Logan Square and fancy some cheap Americanized Mall-Quality takeout, you won't be disappointed. Prices are very reasonable- around $6 for their dinner meal which comes with an entree, shrimp fried rice, and an egg roll. I ate about half and saved the leftovers for lunch the next day. We ordered both the watermelon and the mango smoothies. The watermelon one was awesome and the mango was equally tasty. I'd definitely recommend ordering one of their smoothies. Their sweet and sour sauce was predictably neon-colored, but the food we ordered wasn't bad at all. If you're looking for fancy (and have the cash), order from Friendship. If you're looking to satisfy a craving for some greasy (but good) crab rangoon and don't want to spend a whole lot, China Fast Wok fits the bill.

I WILL five-star you, Fast Wok! I will do it in a heartbeat! I am a huge fan of cheap Chinese food. But of course, when you like cheap Chinese, you've GOT to know the good from the will-make-you-vomit. It's a matter of life and death! You go to a cheap Chinese place unawares, you are flirting with DANGER! China Fast Wok is in the Good category. In the 3 years I've eaten there, I've never felt even slightly gross. In fact, after eating MY WEIGHT in the Sesame Chicken Dinner Special, I feel like I could lift a truck! I have a friend that asks we go there because she's real sensitive to MSG and she's never had a problem with their food. And truly, they give you enough food to last you at least two days. Their stuff is big portions for cheap moneys. I brought my bottomless-stomached boyfriend for his first time and he felt completely satisfied afterwards. I'm personally a lover of their pot stickers. They are HUGE and not those tiny little things that fancy places like to pass off as pot stickers. AND, if you need some luck, they sell fancy luck charms like those rockin' cats and fountains and fancy places to keep your bamboo!

I've lived in HP/Logan Square for 14 years. Low-priced, local, tasty Chinese takeout has been hard to find. Lin's Garden is good but closed on Monday (and we can't have that.) So I found China Fast Wok on Yelp and gave it a shot. Very happy. Great portions, fresh vegetables, properly cooked meat that was tender, fast service, very reasonable prices (I'm feeding 6) and parking. That's right--parking. Listen, you don't go to China Fast Wok to get squid rolls and caviar fried rice. You go there for good, fast Chinese takeout from a clean speedy place. If that's what you want, then this is your place.

I was here on Saturday night and ordered the tofu "General Tsao" style with white rice and became severely ill 4 hours later. I was sick for 2 days and had to be hospitalized with an IV drip. I also am 6 months pregnant. Thank goodness the baby is fine. My husband had the Mongolian Beef and did not have symptoms. We have gone here before and it was fine. Perhaps the tofu was not being stored properly. I won't be coming here again.

I have been searching for a good hole-in-the-wall Chinese place and decided to turn to Yelp for that decision tonight. Well, I was disappointed by China Fast Wok, but then again, I never know what to expect from these places. I ordered the broccoli in garlic sauce with fried tofu. I asked for my tofu extra extra extra fried, but I got tofu that was more mushy. Also, the broccoli was overcooked and the sauce was just OK. I probably won't go back.

More food than you can wave a lucky cat's paw at! Let's face it, quality isn't the top priority when you go to a chinese take-out place. There are nicer sit-down places, and even the ubiquitous P.F. Chang's, if you are looking for something you can pick apart from a culinary standpoint. What I need from a chinese takeout is a good balance of food, price, and speed, and Fast Wok delivers (literally!). This place has served me well since I moved to the area. Their boiled dumplings are great, and YES for the love of Chun-Li get extra sauce. And for the $7 dinner specials (the sesame chicken is everything you dreamed it would be) you will get enough food to at least last 2 meals.

Four stars not because this is a blow your mind restaurant, but because it's very good at what it is supposed to be: a fast, cheap Chinese food place with pretty good food and fast delivery. The UNBELIEVABLE SMOOTHIES (yes, I went all caps for the smoothies) almost give it five stars. Smoothies are so good that we often make a trip there for just the smoothies and no Chinese food. Pineapple Coconut and Mango are the way to go.

  • Nicolas H.

Ridiculously fast delivery and the food was extremely hot so it seems like they may have a kitchen en route. No matter, the food is decent and had plenty of flavors. Their curry sauce isn't too spicy or heavy and goes great with their noodles. The general's chicken is pretty good as well, not the best I've ever had, but I can easily get it again next week...

In this crap economy, there shines a beacon of hope for the quality-concerned and shrewd: the Chinese take out lunch special. Somehow untouched during recession, one may always find one's lunch coming in just under $6 for more food than one can eat in a sitting - China Fast Wok is no different. When testing out a new Chinese restaurant, I always play it safe with a whitey classic. Today it was General Tso chicken. Not very spicy, the sauce sweet and thick. It came with a huge portion of chicken fried rice, one peppery egg roll and a particularly untasty fortune cookie. They have my much cherished fruit smoothies, but today was too cold to get one. Noted for the future however, since I will be back. They're quick, nice, the food was good and the quantity will supply me with at least one more meal for the lovely, low price of $5.40. My fortune? "Where there is ambition, there is success"

Cheap and dirty Chinese It's what you would expect from a place like this. We order from here when I get a craving for some deep fried treats. Order a dinner combo. It comes with shrimp fried rice, and a big egg roll. You get a ton of food! It's enough for a few meals. The only thing that really creeps me out is that they use Styrofoam boxes, and the food is so hot when they put it in it melts the foam a little. Not healthy!!! I try to block that out because after all who really knows what type of meat I am eating.

Stumbled upon this place by accident when my partner and I were looking for a cheap Chinese restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised! They had a great vegetarian menu selection such as General Taos Tofu! This place is cheap and they deliver to Fullerton and Pulaski!

Ooo..not so good. I've been ordering from Friendship lately so I'm thinking that it's not even a fair comparison, but that's my only basis recently. I got chicken kao pao and chicken fried rice. You would think this means you'd get a lot of chicken. You'd be wrong. The chicken that was in there was awful, predominantly chewy and I think dark meat. Veggies were just kinda random vegetable matter, clearly they've had the flavor cooked out of them. Ah well, the peanuts were good. The egg roll was not. On the upside, it is cheap enough for the most miserly budget. Overall though, i don't plan on going back.

This place has large portions, cheap price and good quality food. Nothing specifically exceptional about this place, very mediocre. $5 will feed you for the whole day. I have nothing bad to say about this place and never will and I go here frequently.

I'm 5-starring because you get what you pay for. Good Chinese food, cheap and fast. They definitely know how to do their tofu, general tsao with an orange soda is my all-time favorite. Found this place because of a friend and ever since it's my hot spot for fast delivery (they quote 45min and get there in 15). Thanks!

Such mixed emotions about this place. Friendly, fast and clean. So what more could a gal want? Well for the food to be good. I'm not expecting very good or excellent after all, this is perhaps the Chinese food's answer to keeping us from seeking out fast food elsewhere. Which I will now do. We had egg rolls, Mongolian beef and Kung Pao chicken, all a disappointment. I will say that the veggies were crisp too bad they were floating in some type of gelatin salty sauce. As I said, mixed emotions here I guess, why four stars? Yes, I didn't really like it, and highly doubt that I'll be back. However, overall they are accomplishing what they set out to do, inexpensive, fast, and friendly. After all that's what we expect when we go to Burger King, Mc Donalds or where ever, salt laden food devoid of character fast and cheap. So there you go, if you like this type of Chinese food, this is your 4 star place. As for me, there are so many more choices for Chinese I can spare a few more bucks and a few more minutes and get something I'd enjoy. I was going to go one star, but that wouldn't be fair to them, since they aren't trying to be Friendship or P.F. Changs.

ordered from here once. ordered orange chicken. it was terrible. it didn't even taste like orange chicken, just, weird chicken. don't really feel like trying anything else.

So far almost everything I've tried here has tasted cheap and bland. The only reason I keep coming back is that it's close to my office, and they have two good things: The Hot and Sour Soup, and the dumplings. All of the soups are cheap and huge, but they all suck except fo the delicous Hot and Sour, which is often loaded with tofu and mushrooms. The dumplings are HUGE, and they cram 8 into your to-go container. I've only had them boiled, but you can also have them fried. It comes with a tiny container of tasty sauce (ask for two). For seven bucks you have enough food for two meals, at least.

This is the best chinese I have had in a while. The food is always hot and fresh. The portions are huge. Definitely recommend the lunch specials.

I'm from Connecticut, and we have very different (take-out) Chinese food than the midwest. I've been looking for years for a take out place that was as good as my home place is, and Fast Wok, by golly you've done it! Everything we had was absolutely delicious. Prices are beyond reasonable for the MASSIVE amount of food you get. One dish will easily feed two people - and the turn around time is about 10 minutes - absolutely fantastic.

  • Paul L.

Look, it's called China Fast Wok, grammar alone should tell you that what you see is what you get. The food is good. Nothing is exceptional, but they are insanely fast, cheap, and consistent. I stick with only chicken or beef, I will not venture out into the seafood category. C'mon, it's Chinese delivery. Don't want to make dinner? Call 'em up, they're good. I hope you like salt.

I ordered the Garlic Chicken and an order of Crab Ragoon plus delivery. All of this including tip put me at $12. An amazing price for good food. Not to mention they were fast as hell. Favorite part... the Crab Ragoon. Eight of them for only $2.95 and they're very giving with the filling. Good choice for a quiet Sunday dinner.

1 star for the fact that they give you enough food to feed an army - it's obscene. My entree was enough to last me 4 meals. 1 star because it's actually fairly tasty, especially considering the price. We had General Tsao's chicken and Kung Pao chicken - tons of veggies/peanuts, all ingredients seemed to be very fresh. 1 star because it's cheap as hell - $6.00 dinner specials including shrimp fried rice, entree & egg roll - and they delivered the food to my door steaming hot 15 minutes after I ordered it. 1 star off because my egg drop soup had the consistency of rubber cement - totally bizarre. Ken Kee, it ain't. That being said, I'm sure I'll be back often. 1 additional star as it's cheap and close to home and I'm soon to be unemployed and incredibly lazy.

    (4)
  • Shawn S.

OK, the crab rangoon was pretty good... The Chicken with broccoli was awful with tasteless chicken and rubbery broccoli. The sweet and sour chicken was OK. Some of the pieces did have too much breading/not enough chicken and the sauce is just as one would expect. The egg rolls are OK, too. The place is cheap, but that's no excuse for bad food.

Me and my boyfriend order form here atleast once a month, and have always had a good experience! I've only been disappointed once and wish they gave more soy sauce packets but overall a pretty good place for quick and cheap chinese food!!! Oh and please get a smoothie!!!

  • Tate B.

There are three reasons I eat here: 1. It's two blocks from my apartment. 2. They have tofu. 3. It's cheap as hell. Seriously, all you need to know. Food is nothing amazing, but does the trick when you are hungry, lazy, and/or in a hurry.

After NOT having my craving for Chinese food satisfied at Friendship Chinese, I decided to grab a little something from China Fast Wok. I got what I always get---the dinner special which included Mongolian chicken (extra chicken for $2), shrimp fried rice and an egg roll. It's packed with flavor and the servings are very generous. I paid about $12 and that was dinner for both my daughter and me AND lunch the next day. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I lived in Chinatown for a year. This food is laughable, not laughably delicious either. Also, it seemed pretty expensive, I felt like they "tricked" me into ordering the "chef's special" even though I probably just wanted the lunch special. Granted, all they did was ask if I wanted a Chef's special, and I said that I did so no points lost or gained here. The kicker for me was the rice. Both the fried and steamed rice tasted a few days old, or not fully cooked. I ordered the General Tsao's chicken, it was standard, but kind of fatty. We also ordered Peanut chicken, which I did not have but hear was pretty bland. They get 1 star for their delivery speed. Though, I would have happily traded 15 min or so for some quality rice. They get the second star for good crab rangoon and lo mein. I do mean to dine-in sometime and see if the food is better.

Standard Americanized Chinese food. Tasty, salty, yummy, unazdventurous. Zamn fine smoothie bar. Which by the way, Chicago is the only place I have seen a preponderance of Chinese smoothie bars. The Chinese only sell Chinese in Detroit. There are no frou-frou juice drinks, smoothies, yogurt drinks, etc. If you ask for something other than sweet and sour [insert meat choice here] you pretty much get your ass kicked.

    (3)
  • Casey C.

The reason for five stars is because I have been going there for a while now, to the point that they know me and what I order. And, all my friends love going there also. It is near my place, the food is wonderful and you have enough for multiple meals for under $6. Also, they cook in vegetable oil and are really good with substituting meat for tofu.

  • Kaio B.

na na na !!! there is no way this place could have such a high rating. ok my stomach and palette can take almost anything but this place is definitely worse than my cooking on my worst day. The only reason i would keep going to this place is cause its so close to home. For the same price you could get quality food at sultan's market but thats not walking distance. Once i ordered their specials: shrimp dish and all i got was onion dish with few shrimp i could count with one hand. Last week i ordered chicken something and ended up getting chicken and a lot of something.. The taste isnt that good either. Its eatable but pls its not even american chinese.

I usually write long winded op-ed reviews on yelp, but this is an exception. this place supremely sucks. the food is...musty. and. questionable. and. not worth your time. enough said.

Not gonna lie, when my friend saw on grubhub that this place had no minimum and no delivery fee, broke + cheap said this is it..as ghetto as this place sounds, we will take it. Verdict: very basic and not the best but it gets the job done. For $16 (not including delivery tip), we easily got dinner for tonight and 2 lunches for tomorrow out of the deal. I'm sure I'll end up ordering from this place again when I'm too lazy to walk around the corner; we got delivery in 20 minutes!

I will be completely forthcoming in saying that I am sort of a fan of their sister restaurant, Buffet Castle. Apart from a few anomalies here and there, I've seldom experienced gastronomic bliss from a Chinese buffet, and this place is no exception. It's kinda raunchy actually (they have pizza, fries and quesadillas!), but many hungover afternoons have been remedied by the copious amounts of grease at one's disposal there. Clearly, I don't set the bar too high with this type of cuisine - it is what it is. That being said, I think I've officially given up on China Fast Wok. Yes, their portions are so hefty it's practically vulgar (8 steamed dumplings for $3.00 is pretty f'ing hard to beat), and in the instances wherein I've ordered delivery (more than I care to admit this winter), it's super-fast and the delivery guys are always courteous. I just can't pretend the food is ok though. The sauces are often nauseatingly sweet, and every form of meat I've ordered is either fatty, stringy, or tough as a boot. It's actually consistently bad. So bad, in fact, that the last time I ordered I actually picked out all the meat, tossed the remnants in skillet and added the seasonings that I deemed so desperately lacking. Defeats the purpose of ordering in, methinks... It's cheap though. Real cheap.

    (1)
  • Jack J.

There is absolutely nothing great or terrible about this place. A completely average, somewhat bland, pseudo-Chinese restaurant you'd find in anywhere America. I think it's the miller lite of Chinese restaurants.

After two (?) years with China Fast Wok, I had to move out of Chicago. And my miss my Chicken with Almond Dings desperately. Desperately. I mean, did they make it up? Am I ever going to find it again? I loved it! Oh, China Fast Wok, you did me so good...

    (5)
  • Michael T.

Fast and cheap, that is all you can pretty much say about the place. Best to go for the $5 "lunch special" before 2pm. Same as the "dinner special" but $2 more.

    (3)
  • Don G.

not the best, far from the worst. i get take out from here 2 times a month. it's cheap, clean and cheap. yup, it's cheap. and not as goopy as some other places in the area. so that's something. delivery is also very fast. if you like chinese take out, go for it.

    (3)
  • Tony L.

I love the lunch specials here. For 5 bucks you can get a pretty full lunch. Your choices all come with chicken fried rice, an egg roll and a fortune cookie. Pretty standard I think. I usually go here when I don't have much money on me and I don't feel like having a sandwich. Mainly it is because I don't have a lot of money on me. The service is pretty fast, everything is 10 minutes. The dine in seating arrangement is kind of lame, but it works. You feel kind of crowded even though there's no one around you. Fast just like the name says and the food is pretty good for how much you spend. Oh, and they just started serving bubble teas! I'm definitely going to try one of those later.

    (4)
  • Erin J.

Yanno, it's weird. When we order delivery, it's maybe 20-25 minutes from hanging up the phone to skipping downstairs to pay the driver. But the 2 times we decided to order carry-out, we sat there for at least 30 minutes. It's cheap, it's close, it's fast, food is tasty...it's a Sunday afternoon keeper for me!

  • C. Benjamin W.

I've only had one meal, but I noticed right away that the food at China Fast Wok is not as greasy as most similar little outfits. The egg rolls are a little small and cabbage-y and the dining room is an afterthought, but that is all of the bad things I can think of. It's just a good take-out place with friendly service and reasonable prices. To clarify, the free crab rangoon is for orders of $15 or more. $10 or more gets you a free egg roll or two. That could probably change though in the future.

sometimes i'm disgustingly and appallingly lazy. too lazy to cook. too lazy to hop in my car to go pick something up. too lazy to exist. when i'm being a lazy [and impatient] slob craving down-and-dirty chinese food, china fast wok is it. because i only live *one* block away, delivery is a mere $1.50 and incredibly fast. it's also cheap and hits the spot. they always have coupons for a free *something* if you hit a certain dollar amount - egg roll at $10, crab rangoons at $15, shrimp fried rice at $20 and orange or sweet-and-sour chicken at $30. sunday night was feeling like one of those nights, but i saved myself $1.50 (and then some) by ordering as the boy was on his way over and asking him to pick it up (and pay). 99% of all our orders include general tao's chicken and it's generally (pun intended) a winner. this time was no exception - extra fresh and extra crispy. the beef he fang, a first-time order, was also delicious - the beef was plentiful and incredibly tender. pork fried rice and crab rangoons were what one might expect. not going to pretend china fast wok is the best chinese food in the city, but for the money, it always gets the job done.

    (3)
  • Steve M.

I guess it is all in the name. Yes the food was delivered very fast, and it was hot but they certainly didn't take any time to flavor the food. The dinner specials come with enough food for three meals, but I am not sure anyone would want to eat after they finished the first meal. I guess I shouldn't expect much from a place called China Fast Wok, but how can you send eggrolls and not include sweet and sour sauce. There is definitely better chinese in the neighborhood.

  • Jacqueline T.

I'm very upset with this place! The food is ok, but the problem that I'm having is that tonight I went in and placed an order and paid with my debit card. The lady then asked for my ID, this I didn't have a problem with, my problem comes in when while I'm waiting for my food, a customer came in 15 minutes after I did, places an order, pays with a debit card and is never asked for any kind of identification at all! When I went and asked to see a manager about this, I was told the manager wasn't there. When I told the lady what my problem was, she told me "it was $10 more". The customer who came in after I did spent more on their order than my order cost, so I'm completely confused and upset by this treatment! I can guarantee that I will never go back to this place!!!!!

A new definition of average in Chinese. No need to go back.

  • Mike S.

So, considering I live a block away, I've been going here often ever since they opened up. And of course, on the one night I decide to get dinner there and write a yelp, I have bad food, for the first time ever. So, quick word of warning: the chicken w/ mushrooms is salty as all hell. All around, though, the food here is really good and (especially for the lunch/dinner specials) comes in huge portions. The specials include fried rice and an egg roll, are $4 for lunch and $6 for dinner, and contain more than enough food for two meals. Good, cheap, quick food right down the street. Yes, please.

    (4)
  • F. G.

For the low price, the food is very good, and the portions are generous. My husband and I order take-out every once and awhile, and our meals have always been fresh and hot. Fast Wok prepares the food quickly and fills the orders accurately.

  • Stephanie W.

This place isn't the greatest Chinese you will ever have, but it's not terrible either. Just extremely fast, convenient, and cheap. You get a ridiculous amount of food for your money, and I have never been grossed out by anything. We usually order Sesame Chicken, General Tao's Chicken, or Orange Chicken. I have to admit, they all taste pretty similar, but hey...for $7, we can get a meal that is enough to split and still have leftovers, so I'm not gonna complain!!!

This is it! Whahoo! Praise the almighty ghetto chinese! sorry, let me compose myself. Okay. I'm better. If you've read any of my reviews, then you'll know that we just moved here from NYC and we've been having the damndest time trying to find any decent chinese takeout. Papajin is good, Eat First is good, but no one's passed the ultimate test - Hot & Sour Soup. But, thanks to a menu shoved in our mailbox, we found China Fast Wok and our new favorite Chinese delivery place. One of the perks is that CFW has different sized dishes, something you'd think wouldn't be so rare. To start, we had the fried dumplings & soup. The dumplings were your typical fried dumplings, but the dipping sauce was nice & garlicky. Not too heavy on the soy sauce, either. The Hot & Sour Soup was incredible. Like an ethnic Goldilocks, It wasn't too hot or too sour. It had a nice amount of tofu & mushrooms and the other edibles. After the soup, we couldn't care if they served us stir-fried boot. But, luckily the chicken & cashews & szechuan beef were pretty good too. that being said, I just ordered Papajin and the delivery man I can't understand is ringing my door bell. gotta run.

dear china fast wok, i can smell you from my new apartment...all the time. are you making garlic chicken at 8 a.m.? really? i don't mind if i can smell your chinese cooking, as long as other people can't smell it on my clothes. so stay out of my closet. since your food is pretty tasty, your meals so generously portioned, and you give nice little freebies with my order (like free crab rangoon with a purchase of $15 excluding lunch or dinner specials), i have decided to appreciate the aroma wafting from your kitchen rather than recent it. i will eat for days from the single meal i ordered last night. thanks neighbors!

    (4)
  • John S.

Super fast, it's like I hang up the phone and they knock on my door. The food is really good, nice quality. Crab rangoon is a must when ordering.

    (5)
  • Nancy H.

I've ordered from them many times, but have only gone in once (mad cravings for crab rangoon, hee). Not much of a set-up for eating in, but if you want cheap, tasty and fast delivery, try them out. I haven't really been "wowed" by the taste of anything, but I'll keep ordering because of that cheap/tasty/fast trifecta. Apparently, China Fast Wok's owners also own the Buffet Castle place up near Belmont and Kimball, which I also highly recommend.

  • zach b.

I eat here probably once a week. Usually on days I am too lazy to cook. They have a vide variety of vegan options that I really enjoy. They are very accommodating to my needs and if i want a little more of this instead of that on that particular day they are abiding.

Great crab rangoon!!! Very expansive menu. Quick with delivery and take-out orders.

  • Sam D.

This is fast food chinese at its best. I think it is above average for chinese takeout, but it is not sit down restaurant quality chinese food. I've ordered from here a number of times, and I will continue to order from here. There was one night were everything seemed a bit more oily than usual, but everyone's got their off day. The prices are definitely reasonable and they have all sorts of freebies. Definitely worth at least giving it a try,

    (4)
  • Christy S.

We've ordered lots of times from this place. Their steamed dumplings are huge. I typically order beef & broccoli or combination fried rice. All are decent. Unfortunately, once they had entirely too much cornstarch in their brown sauce, which made the broccoli look extremely unappealing and inedible. Their take-out is fast and cheap, and they deliver quickly. Friendly, too. All in all, if you want cheap Chinese food made quickly, they're great.

    (3)
  • Jenny R.

maybe i have higher standards for take-out chinese food, but my food from here was flat out bad. my chicken was more breading than chicken...the fried rice was bland...the crab rangoon was mushy... yeah they give you a ton of food, but who cares when it's horrible? maybe i ordered the wrong dish or caught them on an off night. i should have just spent more money and got some great chinese from friendship.

    (1)
  • Shannon D.

Lived next door to China Fast Wok. Overall the food is not impressive at all. The reason I give it 3 stars instead of 2 is because you do get LARGE portions for a cheap price. But I never necessarily wanted to eat the left overs. If your starving, broke and/or stoned it will do.

    (3)
  • scott f.

Amazingly average Chinese; as if there's a conspiracy with all the Chinese places in a five block radius to not out-do themselves. Anyway, try the 4 seasons, although its a little steep. or Garlic chicken lunch special ($4.50 before 3pm!). Above average egg rolls. Inconsistent broccoli.

    (3)
  • Mar N.

I really, really did not like this place. It's the typical "chinese" food place with the typical sauces and the typical frozen veggies. Well almost typical, it tasted like a lower quality version of typical. You do get a ton of food, but it's also a ton of waste. I felt horrible while eating, after I finished & when I had to waste the vast majority of the food because it was making me sick. I am someone who absolutely does not like to waste food nor can I afford it. I tried to like it, but it just wasn't for me. The mango smoothy was disappointing. I was totally bummed by the experience.

  • ashley S.

This place is GREAT and by far my favorite chinese take-out place! The food is made with really fresh ingredients, the chicken is really high quality (hard to find in cheap chinese places) and is never greasy! I always get the kung pao chicken it is seriously DELICIOUS. For about $7.50 you get the most generous portion including an egg roll and it lasts me for 3 full meals, that's how big the portions are. I can't imagine getting anything here and not loving it! 6 out of 5 stars!

I am currently exhausted because last night I was up listening to the negative effects this place had on my husband. Let me just say it was not a pleasant sound (if you haven't guessed yet it made him throw up all night). Yes, they have good prices and give you a lot of food. But is that worth the pain you experience after? I seem to think not. With that said, if you must go, don't order the sesame chicken.

    (1)
  • john s.

oh goddamn! best veggie egg rolls in the city and i can have them in under 5 minutes. big portions, tasty food, and delightful service. i found this joint at the begining of the year when i started dating someone who lived across the street. thanks to china fast wok we're still together!

    (4)

Crazy fast delivery. I swear they cook it in the car on the way over and the food is always piping hot. Food is ok, but it comes faster than any delivery I have experienced.

  • Becky S.

Cheap Chinese food, across the street from my apartment. Quick and tasty. If a Potbelly's would just move into that lot, I would never have to venture more than 2 blocks from my house for food ever again.

This place is pretty gross. Everything breaded is soggy. It is the most convenient Chinese food to me and I refuse to eat there. Skip it.

On the outside, this strip mall Chinese fast food joint might not look like much, but don't be mistaken. The kitchen puts out delicious Chinese dishes for incredibly low prices and in extremely large portions. We love the Mongolian beef and anything that comes in the garlic sauce. The ingredients are fresh (including the seafood) and surprisingly not too greasy. I highly recommend this Chinese establishment to anybody. Yum yum!!!

  • lisa m.

I love China Fast Wok. They have decent vegetarian options, and everything I've ever ordered has been fresh. It is definitely a step above of other cheap Americanized Chinese restaurants. They gave me the wrong food once, but I didn't really care. Seriously, I have had a lot of poorly cooked tofu in my time. CFW knows how to season and cook tofu. That's enough to keep me coming back. And really, if you are looking for something healthy or "palette-able," I am not sure why you are even considering something called China Fast Wok. Poor judgement, maybe?

    (5)
  • John K.

This is pretty average take out Chinese, but they do make good steamed dumplings which aren't too pricey and are a meal in and of themselves.

  • R D.

3 Stars is way low for this place. These folks aren't going to win any culinary awards, but it's really good food and really cheap. I've had way worse Chinese in China Town. Sweet and Sour Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup, Boiled Dumpling all very good. They only thing that I've had and not loved is the shrimp fried rice that comes with the dinner specials. I'm not a huge fan of shrimp and they'll happily switch it with whatever you'd like. Oh, they make fresh fruit smoothies.

    (4)

the hunan chicken was average at best, but the kiwi smoothie was really good and the delivery was super fast. i'll probably give it another shot.

Fast. Cheap. Tasty. Local. I'm all about the above and China Fast Wok fills the criteria. My friend and I were looking for some greasy and cheap Chinese food not expecting much when we ordered delivery from China Fast Wok. Much to our surprise, it turned out being pretty darn good. Delivery was quoted at 40-60 minutes and ended up taking 90 minutes which sucked. But the delivery guy did apology upon bringing out food. The eggroll was decent, a bit smaller than most place but I did enjoy it. I had the orange chicken and found it a tad spicy but it was the good kind of spicy. My mouth wasn't burning and it just added flavor but that's a warning for those weak with the spices. Chicken tasted good, wasn't soggy or overcooked and overall good flavor. We were both happy with our dishes, the prices are great and we happily found a new delivery option in Logan Square. Woot!

I love this place and I can honestly say this is about the only restaurant I have ever ordered from that has not screwed up my order. Food is fast, hot and done right the first time. I left off the last star cuz I wish they gv more soy sauce when they deliver. I always forget to ask for more and they only give you like 4.

Discovered CFW when i was home alone and didn't feel like walking more than a few blocks. Right in the shopping center with the 7/11, convenience is high. The food was a delicious, MSG-free surprise and I've ordered takeout five or six times since. Dinner specials are huge portions, come with rice, egg roll and a drink, and they're all $6.85. Haven't gone wrong yet - chow fun, Hunan, Szechuan, broccoli, choice of protein; CFW makes it easy to get exactly what you want. Top it off with friendly servers/owners and you have a perfect neighborhood spot.

If you ate here and liked the food then you have no idea what good Chinese is. The food here is garbage. The first time I ordered from here I was extremely disappointed. 6 months later ended up going here again since its literally a block walk from me and every other decent Chinese place is a bit far. Waited awhile just for a orange chicken dinner special, dumplings, and crab rangoon. After awhile even the staff themselves were wondering what was taking so long. The inside of the store was fine, a bit small and had one or two clearly broken tables, but no one eats in there anyway. Got home and almost threw the food in the trash because of how utterly garbage it was. It's almost as if its made by homeless people for homeless people. It just doesn't make sense! They give you rather big portions in the dinner/lunch specials, but I'm guessing that it is a bribe to get better reviews of their restaurant. Update - 4/28/14 That 6 month urge kicked in and I needed a quick Chinese fix. I hesitantly grabbed the menu from my desk drawer and ordered ahead...like a junkie I know what I'm doing is bad yet I can't help myself. This time I keep it to one thing to minimize the impact on my wallet, orange chicken lunch special for just $6 even. 15 minutes later during my walk of shame back home, ducking in between the alleys so that noone sees me, I get a whiff of the food and noticed something more savory about it. Is this a good sign? The place did seem to actually be tidied up a bit, there's a sliding partition between the chefs and the register now, the usual front desk girl is gone (have they hired new people?). I get home and open it up, the fried rice has less soy sauce now and they've thrown in eggs and such like better Chinese places. The taste test....it passes! Either they've changed recipes or have brought in way better chefs because the fried rice went from garbage to decent enough to compete with the usual Chinese places in the hood. The orange chicken was pretty much the same crap though, albeit you can actually choke it down now. They really know how to make a "chicken sponge" though. It always feels like I'm eating chicken flavored gum or something. Their orange sauce needs a lot of work and they should make the bread on the chicken crispier. Until they improve their entire menu, they won't be getting that extra star.

It's hard to find places that make Tofu americanized chinese food. Here I could get m Sesame tofu, General Tao's Tofu, Schwann Tofu... The list goes on. The portions are pretty good and if you get the Dinner or Lunch combo it comes out to a pretty good deal. It comes with fried rice, and egg roll and your choice of entree. I Had enough for the next day. The cashier was even nice enough to suggest exchanging the egg roll for a vegetarian roll. While I haven't had much off their menu besides the dishes mentioned earlier I will definitely be coming back to get my tofu fix ON! Ordered of delivery once and it came in fast and still warm, I say that's a plus especially since they were closing.
