I've only been here once, not sure why it says twice on Yelp....Can you say disorganized rude haphazard? I came in for a cup of coffee. It took me 10 minutes to get one. From the disorganized way that the cafe is set up where I couldn't even tell where to order my coffee (how about an "order here" sign?) to the disorganized way to get your coffee (it's self serve, also without a sign or the necessary kids, spoons, sugar, cream, etc. in plain sight). There were three people and all three kept looking at me as if I were crazy as they barked "it's self serve". I let them know I wanted to know where to order and buy a cup. Oh yeah, and how much was it since there were no signs. See a pattern here? 10 minutes later and $2.47 in the hole for a mediocre "house blend from a brotha" I was past ready. Since I was parked right outside, I sat in my car for a second to check into Yelp. Out comes the guy who rang me up, waving me to roll down my window. He accusingly asked me if I poured out my coffee (WTF is this the coffee police?). It was my birthday, I didn't feel like going toe to toe and wished him a "good morning" and rolled my window back up. I'd never received a good morning from any of them, mind you & I'm 100% sure Chef Sara was one of the people who barked it's self serve. I don't know why dude came outside and asked me that, I don't know how they stay in business with horrible service like that. I really don't care now. I live a couple of blocks away and wanted to support a local Black business however they FAILED. I will never be coming back.

Seriously a family owned business! Chef Sara waited on us and was absolutely amazing! Felt like being around family...will definitely come back

I came in and order almost the whole menu LOL!!! Well, not entirely but I did spend $40. I ordered the Asian salad that seemed to be more cabbage than anything else for $4.99. Two bowls of coilflower soup that came with the option of crackers or cornbread. It's a very small piece of cornbread I did not like it; it was pretty dry and hard. I think I like the broccoli soup better though. The salmon burger was pretty good. The Black eyed peas dip is served cold even though I expected it to be warm. I also didn't expect to see the actual beans; I thought it would be ground up like hummus. Although I think it's a bit pricey, it is healthier than my other options in the South Shore Neighborhood and I would like to see it stay. Chef Sara is a nice woman and the ambiance is quite welcoming and relaxing.

This was my first visit. My guy got the salmon burger and I tasted it. It was awesome. I got the French toast special with scrambled eggs and chicken sausage. Everything was seasoned nicely. The only downside was service was a tad bit slow. I'm guessing it's because there was a large party and they just wasn't prepared for the group as well as other patrons. I would return.

Yelp has on here that they are closed today but they aren't. I just returned from there. The hours on here are apparently WRONG. I will be getting that fixed. Anyways, Everyone knows me there lol. They have memorized my order! My absolute FAVORITE place to eat. Amazing addition to the neighborhood.

First it's a very friendly place, like being welcomed home. It is so wonderful to have a great tasting, healthy, made to order restaurant here in South Shore. I highly recommend the linguine salad and Black Eyed Pea (Texas Caviar) dip with tortilla chips.

I discovered this place from a recent community meeting held here. It's a place I've passed before but I'd never eaten here until today. This is a family business. And it's evident there is a good family vibe between Chef Sara and her brothers(?) who are the waiters. The menu is traditional. I ordered breakfast--the Chef's Special. The waffle was very well-made. I enjoyed the eggs too. I had the "home fries" and they were well-seasoned but a bit overdone. I ate them all up though. The food here has a real home-cooked flavor that makes it quite delicious. It's a quaint, appealing little neighborhood cafe. They have a lunch menu. They have free wi-fi. I'm anxious to return and try other items on the menu.

I'm sitting in Chef Sara's Cafe as I write this review. This is my first time at Chef Sara's Cafe and the entire staff already knows me by name. The atmosphere in this hidden gem is warm and inviting. Everyone knows each other and speaks as if they're old friends, however, it's quite enough to get some work done, thanks to the free available Wifi. I just finished the Chef's Special (pancakes, eggs, meat all for a very low price) and it was absolutely delicious. OMG, I am in LOVE with the eggs! I will definitely return to Chef Sara's Cafe. It's a little hard to see when driving pass, but Chef Sara's Cafe sits on the Southeast corner of 72nd and Exchange- tell them "Day" sent you.

Chef Sara's is a symbol of both South Shore's past and future. Located on an unassuming block not far from the South Shore Cultural center, you can't help but feel like you've found a little slice of home when you enter. Neither the menu nor the staff put on many airs. What you get is what you want....good food, great service and a warm smile to start your day. I normally go to Chef Sara's for a cup of coffee or two, a sandwich when I am on the go, etc. I keep coming back because what is done is done well....and because places like Chef Sara are desperately needed. They bring a character to the neighborhood that hasn't been seen in decades. So, when I want coffee? I pass a dozen Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts along the way. I support a business that reminds me of my mother's kitchen in my youth...and I hope and pray more do the same.

I'm not entirely sure why people love this place so much. When I first moved into the neighborhood I came here for lunch and purchased a salad. The salad was okay at best, but the raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing was gooey and disgusting. Sort of like the consistency of hair gel. It also took them about 20 minutes to make it when it didn't have any meat or anything extra on it, which I didn't understand. With that said, the place is very cute inside. It definitely resembles a small cafe, and they offer live music and events from time to time. They also have wifi with a purchase or you can purchase the wifi flat out. They have items like cookies, croissants, and other baked items. As much as I wanted to love this place, I didn't.

Chef Sara's Cafe is AWESOME! If you're looking for a neighborhood cafe that feels like home, this is it! The sandwiches, soups & salads are tasty, nice variety of coffee and teas, friendly staff and the shop itself is warm, welcoming and impeccably decorated. The salmon & veggie burgers are great plus you can get discounts here on food and coffee by texting CHEFSARA to 55469, not to mention the FREE Wi-Fi. All around a great place. Glad to see a business like this in our neighborhood. Daphne

Chef Sara's is definitely a diamond in a neighborhood that usually caters to the "fast-food" crowd. She is cooking her limited menu the old-fashioned way, slow. I like that. Stop by. It's worth coming cross town.

Chef Sara is a great professional who knows how to make darn good food. She has a friendly and talented staff who all take their time to ensure all of their customers get great care and service. This is an excellent neighborhood spot.

Great Cafe!! Enjoyed my 1st time experience with both great good and a very friendly atmosphere! Excited it is in my neighborhood and I can walk to the cafe. This will definitely be a place to visit often! I just moved to South Shore, and couldn't of been made more comfortable and welcome as I did walking in to Chef Sara's Cafe! Keep up the great work!

I love Chef Sara's!!! It's one of the few places on the south side outside of Hyde Park where you can get fresh and healthy food made from scratch. Every muffin, sandwich, soup, and salad is filling and I recommend eating here instead of the regular fish and chicken spot.

Each time I've visited Chef Sara's Cafe, she and her staff have been outstanding. The atmosphere is welcoming, they have healthy and tasty options, and they're super nice to my infant who can be loud at times. I'd definitely suggest this place. Extra star for being breastfeeding friendly!

Just moved to the neighborhood and the only coffee shop that showed up was a closed down one at this address. Yelp needs to replace my soul cafe with chef Sara's cafe in their search results. So after traveling far to mediocre Cafés I decided to see for myself and was delighted to find Chef Sara's Cafe instead of the listed one. It's a great place with real homemade food and great latte. Nice and friendly staff the volume of the background music is low enough that you can converse in a normal tone of voice which rarely happens at other cafés. Free Wifi with ample bandwidth.

I have one word for Chef Sara's: Delicious! I am a loyal fan of Chef Sara's and the entire crew. The Salmon Burger is out of this world. The personal, homey feel puts Starbucks to shame. I'm glad a place like this has opened in my community. Keep up the good work.

My first time here was Tuesday and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered a chicken panini and spinach salad combo with raspberry vinaigrette. The sandwich was delicious! I didn't need to add any flavor. So if you're watching your salt intake, you might want to inquire before ordering. The raspberry vinaigrette was amazing! Although I ordered takeout, the atmosphere was cozy and cute. A very warm and visually appealing environment. Even though it's a bit out of my way, I'll definitely be back. A South Shore gem!

Good food, friendly service, reasonable prices. I'd heard some good things about the cafe so my girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast. It did not disappoint. I had the shrimp and grits and my girlfriend had the french toast. It's a family business in the true sense (Sara was there and waited on us.) The food was made to order, which means it takes a little longer than your average diner but is much better quality. Chef Sara's is a quality, fresh option in South Shore, something the neighborhood definitely needs more of. If you live in South Shore and haven't tried it you should make the trip. The food is good and you'll be supporting a local business!

Chef Sara's cafe is a treat for the South Shore neighborhood. I have been here twice, and will definitely become more regular since I live around the corner. This morning my hubby and I had a taste for a good breakfast. We grabbed Chef Sara's menu from off of our refrigerator and called our order in. We ordered a vegetable omelet with turkey sausage, croissant, a side of grits, and a breakfast sandwich (we were hungry, don't judge!). I arrived to pick up the order and had to wait for a few minutes, but that was ok! The food: EXCELLENT! A large amount of fresh vegetables in the omelet, turkey sausage was fresh and tasty. Grits were the perfect consistency. Breakfast Sandwich was ON POINT, AND she cut it down the middle, just like grandma would! I highly recommend this place, and it is in a perfect location for morning commuters, right outside the metra stop!
