This is probably one of the best cafes on campus, so thanks to UChicago for adding a much needed coffee and food venue! And, in case you need it, this place also serves wine and beer, so what could be better than a little wine while doing a little work? Yup, not much can make work better! This cafe has pre-made and made to order sandwiches and soups and some salads, and everything always looks pretty fresh too. So definitely a good option for the food desert that is UChicago if you don't have a meal plan like the students do. This place recycles also which I know sounds lame to write in a review, but I've actually noticed how hard it can be to recycle on campus, so hooray for saving the planet too. They make all of the usual coffee drinks and have some other fun bottled drinks as well, so lots of options here. Then the ambiance is also just so nice and fresh feeling. There are high top tables, couches, regular tables, and the space is so big here, so lots of room to choose from and the free UChicago wireless is there also, so you should be good to go! Definitely a good addition to the area, so very glad it is there! It is not the cheapest cafe in the world, but with not much else around, they can sort of charge whatever they want. I think the food looks better than the latte I had, but still very happy it is around!

If you are a coffee addict like me and you know what good coffee taste like, do NOT get coffee here. The staff is generally nice and damn, they make good food. The bad thing about cafe Logan tho is that it's too expensive. The quality of the food is definitely not worth the price. But they take maroon/flex dollars (if you have those). I absolutely love the atmosphere here and the red chairs are super comfy! My favorite spot to sit is at the corner right where the two windows meet.

This performing arts center, the Reva and David Center for the Arts, has just opened at the U of C campus. I was attending Hyde Park Day for the Chicago Humanities festival, an annual event. Of course, there were many events held at this brandy-new venue and the event rooms and the center as a whole is wonderful. But, I was sorely disappointed in this place. Sure, we knew it featured only pre-prepared wraps and salads. But it billed itself as featuring specialty roasted coffees. Events were scheduled all day. I attended the Fred Hersch concert at 6:00 pm and many of us were there for a snack. The coffee was stale, the milk canisters had only skim milk and they were very limited in the food that was available. I got the veggie sandwiches and they were cold, limp and not very tasty. They should have thought ahead to the possibility that this was going to be their introduction to a wider audience and made certain that they were stocked. The operation was rather amateur .. pick up food at one counter, pay at a table set up with a money box and a cashier ... CASH only. (I noted that the book and music vendors there also were restricted to CASH only. I rarely find myself going to events in Hyde Park but I hope their service and menu improves. My friend and I had to go to Piccolo Mondo to find a decent meal. Gross lack of good food venues around the university - still to this day!
