The most delicious chicken gyros!! Service is quick, prices are reasonable, and they have ice cream for dessert (not that you'll be able to fit it in your belly on top of all the chicken deliciousness). Only one caveat...don't plan on kissing anyone...or standing within breath-smelling distance of anyone for about 24-48 hours. The cucumber sauce is delicious, but the garlic will stay with you for quite awhile. I've tried many ways of removing it, brushing teeth, mouthwash, 8 cinnamon altoids in 1 hour, numerous pieces of gum...they may make it slightly better, but it's still there, there's no escaping it! But I promise, bad breath and all, the gyros are definitley worth it!

Wow, only 1 review?. I saw this one the way to gas up the rental car before tomorrow's flight. and had to check it out. What a menu! Everything from burgers to dogs to gyros to ribs to salads, chicken and more. I wanted to try everything. I finally decided after quite a few minutes to try the ribs (I know, doesn't sound like a place for decent ribs). Wrong! The Baby Backs were better than MANY BBQ places I've been to, including Texas. They fell apart with just a touch of the plastic knife and the sauce was good (not the best I've had, but very good). The coleslaw was very good (not quite excellent) and the garlic bread (half sandwich roll) was good as well. The fries were fair, not my favorite, but once you have had fries at Burney's in Auburn all other pale in comparison. They also passed the beer test (I could finish a beer while waiting for my food). I will be back when I return next week to finish this job.

Walked down from my hotel around 9pm for a late night snack/meal. Wanted to go to Tony's Italian Beef but it was much too far a walk, so after reading reviews I decided to try Anthony's. Got the Italian Beef sandwich and a chili dog. Started with the beef. About $4.55, good roll, good hot peppers, and not so good beef. I didn't care much for it. It basically just tasted like heated up roast beef. It actually had too much of that regular deli sandwich roast beef flavor, just hot. Not good. I had one at a Portillo's Hot Dog place about a month ago and that was really good. Maybe Tony's tomorrow, but never Anthony's again. The chili dog ($1.79). To be honest I can't tell you how it tasted as it ended up in the trash without a single bite eaten. When I unwrapped it from the paper first thing I noticed is that the "chili" looked like that nasty bean paste you would get from a microwave burrito. It had that ugly light brown color, pasty texture and that awful smell. It was a nasty mess. I couldn't get it past my nose to even take a bite. Walking out I grabbed a chocolate/vanilla swirl cone. The kind you get anywhere out of a soft serve machine. Was the best thing I ate there. I should have tried the gyro I guess. I won't be back.

Good spot near Midway Airport if your looking for some non-chain foods like the White Castle across the street. I have been back many times since then and always order the Gyros, which are very good and reasonably priced. There alot of signs that are kind of in your face about their policies but you can look past them when ordering.

One of the best Hot Dog stands on the Southwest side --and I've been to most of them. They have quick and efficient service, the same employees everytime you go there, and the same great greasy food you enjoy at a Chicago Hot Dog stand. The have a huge leg up on the competition by being open until 1am, and it's been my savior a few nights. There's nothing like a gyro at 1am, when you reaaaaally want one. Word must get out, because late at night the place seems to be filled with every cop, railroad worker and airline worker on the southwest side.

My husband was flying out of Midway so we were looking for a place to sit down and have a light supper. AV Anthony's hit the spot. We both ordered the 1/2 chicken with yogurt sauce which was super yummy. He had the baked potato, I had the rice both were outstanding. The meal included fresh tasty cole slaw for under $7.50. Next time will order the chicken kabob which takes an extra 15 minutes -- so would be a good idea to call ahead. If you're near Midway go to AV Anthony's!

The quality of food here leaves a lot to be desired. The place is clearly ran by a cheapskate owner or family. It's fast food with no thought put into it other than saving the owner as much money as possible. They're too lazy to even brew iced tea here themselves. I had the perch dinner, SO had chicken gyro. Perch quickly became a cold soggy, greasy mess. I went up to the counter, waited about 6 minutes for someone to approach the side where you pickup food, and asked for the completely nasty iced tea they had forgotten to give me, as well as a takeout container to throw the remainder of the gyro/fries into. I was told they don't have takeout containers. She offered to give me a box, I said "sure" and she brought me this giant cut open cardboard box. The thing was, I was literally staring at the takeout containers as she said this, they were literally within an arm's reach. It's not that they don't have takeout containers, again it goes back to the owner being extremely cheap. So, I was forced to wrap my food in the paper they put on the trays so they don't have to wash them between customers. If they're this cheap on the obvious things, imagine the not obvious things like the quality of beef they're buying. If you eat here, enjoy your pink slime. That anyone thinks this is good or even average food is evidence of how screwed up our food system is in America. The only redeeming factor here is they sell beer.

So, I was forced to wrap my food in the paper they put on the trays so they don't have to wash them between customers. If they're this cheap on the obvious things, imagine the not obvious things like the quality of beef they're buying. If you eat here, enjoy your pink slime. That anyone thinks this is good or even average food is evidence of how screwed up our food system is in America. The only redeeming factor here is they sell beer.

This place is great. They have good food at a excellent price. The Grecian half chicken dinner is awesome, I would highly recommend it.

Now you know, Chicago's South West Side is not known for Chicago Style Hot Dogs and such, But Anthony's puts me in the mind of a nice and old fashioned grease spot on the north side. But that is totally a compliment. The place is really clean, and pretty well taken care of. It was 12 AM at night and I wanted a Gyro, now you know, here you can get it your way. And they don't even have a Burger King Symbol. Gotta love a spot that sells burgers and beer. You wont be sorry, this place is pretty good, 1/2 block East of Cicero near Midway Airport.

Anthony's restaurant has a Great variety of food at a affordable price, ideal for picking up a quick meal. They give more than enough food per plate and the good tastes great.
