High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. Meh. That's all I have to say about this location. I was only ordering a carry out but I wasn't too impressed. The staff carelessly walked around the building laughing. There were also two managers on duty, the man looked professional and the women looked careless, bored, and unkept. BLAH. The only thing that I liked was the bartender. I believe her name was Shuana or something along the lines. I was delightfully surprised that she stuck around as long as she would because there seemed to be a couple rowdy gentlemen that seemed to be locals. God!!! did that seem like the longest wait for food ever. They werent even funny just a bunch of douche bags talking about women leaving them ... how shocking.

I've eaten here twice just out of curiosity or desperation, and got diarrhea both times. Seriously. Even if it was just a typically mediocre Applebees rather than a downright bad one, why would anyone eat at a mall-parking-lot chain restaurant in Chicago where there are dozens of wonderful restaurants in any neighborhood, the majority of which are downright cheap. Fast food is one thing, sure, everyone needs a quick cheap junk food fix once in a while, but I just don't understand why people would spend time and money at a place like this. Looking at the other reviews, it sounds like people just go here to drink frosty girl-drinks. Trust me, there are five restaurants within walking distance of this Applebees that make margaritas that would blow your mind. If only you people knew what you were missing.

Elbert was an awesome server. I liked the apple-balls in my martini. I'm still giggling about it. It's applebees, so I'm not going to comment about the food. It's about helping out the servers who work a shitty job. And Elbert was great. So give him money, and sway to the 90's slow jams like you did at the 6th grade dance. p.s. Elbert has a set of pipes!

So there's this great punk band from New York state called Acid Reflux and they have a song called "Oh good, there's an Applebee's!" When I saw them a couple years back, before they played this song, the singer was like "hey, you guys like mangos?" and the audience was like "yeah." and he was like "mango fuck yourself.": Applebee's is barf.

It was the night before my husbands birthday (last night) and we chose Applebee's to celebrate with a party of 7 adults, a 5 year old, and a baby. HORRIBLE. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. However, my husband's family are reserved people and I kept my mouth shut. First of all we waited to be seated about ten minutes (my brother in law was there before us but I'm unsure of how long). We were not greeted by the host at all as he just walked past us as we walked in. Fine. As we're waiting, a waitress is telling the manager about an altercation with a table saying how she doesn't care and it's not her fault and I quote "bye, Felicia." Ghetto. And this is in front of a group of employees AND the manager AND us. So we get seated as the manager nonchalantly goes to talk to the table. They were out of crayons which was disappointing for my daughter but she lived. We ordered our food at the same times as our drinks as we had plenty of time before we were attended to. Our waiters pen died and he got another one. So he brings out the drinks. He asked everyone what their drinks were. So he calls out Sierra Mist- nobody answers and he says Sprite and my sister in law raises her hand. My husband joked that there must be a switch on the cup to switch the two. I DEFENDED the waiter. This was until he brought out the next drink. He called out a strawberry lemonade and handed it to my brother in law's girlfriend. She told her boyfriend she ordered pomegranate so he tells the server. "Oh, that's what it is." She drank it but thought it tasted like strawberry.y motherinlaws coffee came at least 15 minutes late. She asked for 2% milk and he brought little creamers. My father in law told him they wanted milk and he said that is milk. No. It was cream. He brought out a cup to hold the cream. The kind that holds marinara sauce- awkward to pour from, no? It was so cold that most people had on coats and even a waitress mentioned how cold it was- that makes for an unpleasant experience in itself. so they bring the food. Well, most of it. The food was brought out by a good 5 different people- including the manager. My husband and brother in law both got the shrimp and steak. My brother in law's food had 2 little shrimps and my husband had 5. He asked for more shrimp as it was a SHRIMP AND STEAK. This meal comes with steamed vegetables. The carrots and broccoli were crunchy. They were just warmed up. My husband did not eat his steak. He has NEVER done that.. Even if the food is just ok, he'll still eat it. My father in law called the waiter over to tell him that he has the wrong sandwich as he had a blt and asked for a club. First he said it was a club - as expected. Then he consults the menu after asking my father in law what the difference was. He laughed and told him he was right- it wasn't what he ordered. He was laughing and joking. He went to the kitchen and said we got someone else's food- which we believe was what happened with the altercation at the beginning. We all finished eating - without any refills mind you. All of our glasses were empty. we never received our mozzarella sticks (we ordered 2 and got 1). After we were all finished eating, they finally brought my father in laws food, at which time he asked for a box. To our surprise, we were still charged for the sandwich. As we were leaving the manager was at the hostess desk. He did not even acknowledge our presence. It was a completely horrible experience.

First time ever to Applebee's was yesterday. 4 stars because the margarita's were sooo good! I reccoment the pomagranate frozen one, which I accidently ordered on the rocks but the waitress was super accomadating and switched out for me. Great service and good jams! The food was just okay.

Applebee's in general is an okay franchise restaurant that I don't mind going to. This recent stop just made me realize why I might never think of them as a "sports bar" ever again. Set at the bar around 10:15pm. Placed order. "Give me a mango Margarita, I only want it when the food arrives." "Okay" "Also give me 20 wings 10 hot 5 BBQ.....I guess 5 Asian" "Okay" "And some cheese sticks" (was ordering more wings to take home and cheese sticks were only $4) 4min later she puts my drink in front of me WTF! I don't eat at Applebee's often so not sure if she was being nice by leaving the cocktail shaker which was basically full or if she was suppose to poor the drink in a bigger glass (I end up filling my glass twice due all the content in the cocktail shaker) Cheese Sticks at home usually take about 8min....it took almost 20min for them to bring those out. They were hot so I guess I should be happy about that. Wings came out 10 ASIAN 5 hot, 5bbq with 3 orders of ranch. I know I didn't say 10 Asian because It was the LAST one I ordered because although I wanted to try it. I had a fear it would be something that I didn't really like. On the menu it mentions ranch, blue cheese is extra. due to the wings being cheaper after 9pm (I was just going to order one blue cheese I don't like ranch so again no way possible for me to have asked for this) Although I was hoping for them replace the wings with the ones I asked for. the 10 Asian wings were taken off the bill. If I was given the option I would have waited but since I wasn't I just paid my bill and left. I've only been here twice and this isn't my typical Applebee's that I go to. I'm not in a rush to head to my local Applebee's after this event.

The food and service were fair - however, what's making me vacillate between 2 and 3 stars is the lack of tableware that appears to be clean. I don't want to see watermarks, smudges, or questionable anything on my tools for eating and drinking. Hubby said I was being a bit of a snob - because I even questioned the location of this Applebee's, (I didn't know that Applebee's even came into the city). However, the nail in the coffin as it were, was when I went to the rest room to see that the stall door lock was broken and hanging - indicating that someone wanted in to that particular stall very badly, (you'd think management would have taken care of that). The food was tasty, (I had the lemon parmesan shrimp - it was a bit greasy for being on their weight watchers listing), however, given the lack of care for the tableware, I wondered with each bite - is this ok to eat? Will I get sick? As for the service... I have never gone to a Hooters, I have seen the billboards and thus know that the waitress' dress rather provocatively; so I was surprised that our server was dressed like she worked for Hooters. She was pleasant, however, "Honey put some clothes on! Please!" But then again, perhaps this choice in attire is simply an indication of the area of this Applebee's. Doesn't sound like I'll be back - hence my rating of two stars - Call me a snob!

Holy Mole!!! I think we walked into the Twilight zone (episode ghetto Applebee's) when we stopped in last night. First of all its a cluster fukkkk of a mess. Upon entering who the hell knows who's seating who. Am I supposed to seat the hostess? or is she supposed to sit me.....hummmmm We skipped it and found 2 seats at the edge of the bar. Annnd a sticky edge of the bar it was! dirty glasses were all over the bar. The servers where ghetttoooo! Why hire people trying hard to be what they should be working hard not to be!?!?!?!? to be expected as there was a manager with a tattoo on his neck!...Ghettoooo! The ONLY reason Im writing this review is to rave about how the bartender in the midst of all the crazyness was able to do what should have been the work of 2 people. SHe was kicking azz! I didnt get her name she was a shorter middle aged white bartender.....She was AWESOME! But hell no I am not coming back. Hipster infestation level: 0 This place is too full of real live Chicago diversity for any bike riding bearded skeletor to walk in.

I'm a simple and easy going guy, so I don't require a lot of fuss over myself or anything too complicated to satisfy me. Applebee's always has a good menus for whatever you're in the mood for. I love the appetizers and if you haven't tried their Jell-O shots, you're really missing out on some good stuff.

So let me start off with I love Applebee's but this one was the worst! If you are thinking of coming to this one, please do everyone including yourself a favor and don't!!! They provided us dirty wrapped silverware. Dirty plates and the food was freezing cold. How can you mess up a rare stake and make it well done and yet it be cold. Our server we had Danielle was awful. She had no idea which way was up or down. This place was just awful so bad that even the seat in front of me and behind me are both complaining about how bad the service is. NEVER GO HERE....

I went here because my family received a gift certificate to one-- and this was the closest one to us. The wait was awful the day we went. They had a really good promotion going on for kids meals, which was a bonus for us, having three and all. Once we were seated, our waitress was really sweet. She had a bubbly personality and interacted well with our kids. The most memorable moment for me was choosing our drink. Our kids were going nuts and my husband and I hadn't had a chance to look at the memu. She named a few things they had-- and when she got to lemonaid, we were immediately interested. We asked what kind she had and she said "Oh, I can make any kind of lemonade. Kiwi, Strawberry... you name it, I'll make it" (or something very similar to that). Anyhow, we ordered Pomegranate Kiwi Lemonades. They were delicious! Refills were free! My kids enjoyed eating with music and low lighting. The high chairs were a little sticky... but you know, my kids didn't really want to sit in them long anyhow. They gave us crayons-- which entertained my kids until they ended up under the table. We were at a booth and I didn't really want to touch the floor. So that's where they stayed. The space was clean, given how busy it was. I wish they would have had more staff to accommodate the large crowd. It would have been nice not to have waited so long. Also, the space between tables was small. So my kids were constantly in the way when they were in their high chairs. People pushing past will knock your kid in the head if you don't have your hand out to protect them. It's not like they're gunning for them or anything.. there just isn't enough room. The food was fine.

Been here a handful of times. This always struck me as one of the more ratchet locations but the overall experiences were fine. I think Saturday was probably the last time we'll go back though unless they get it together. Seems to have gotten worse since we were last there. The wait wasn't terribly bad but once we were seated it was evident that they didn't do a thorough job cleaning the area up. The whole place could've used a deep cleaning really. There was no silverware on the table. Not that I was expecting bottled water but what we were given tasted like it was out the bathroom sink. The appetizer was mediocre. My meal was fine but my bf was very underwhelmed with his. The server tried to put his best foot forward but you could tell he was being overworked and they were understaffed. They need to evaluate their business model otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if they are closed in the near future.

horrible. some drunk lady was cussing up a storm at around 10 pm 9/16/15. and our waitress informed us that this was a regular. is business that bad that u couldn't ask her to leave ¿ I mean , i had two kids with me hearing this crap. I will never go there again.

I'm never coming to Applebee's again for 2 reasons. First, they didn't deduct from my bill since I said no chicken on my salad. EVERY restaurant I've gone to ALWAYS deducts from my bill when I say NO chicken. I'm saving them money by using less of their food, so they should charge less. Second, Me and my friend both got a salad. Her plate was half full because it was a "low calorie" salad, but it cost even more than mine did. Who does that? Restaurants usually say which items are low calorie, but it's because of what the meal consists of. Not a smaller portion for the same price! NEVER coming here again!

If I could give this zero stars I would. The waitress was okay but not great. Their Margaritas was great but the management is very unprofessional and rude. The food is disgusting and they didn't want to accommodate me. I told the waitress my food was nasty only thing she said was "I'm sorry let me get this out of your way," then brought the check. They act as if your asking for too much because we had to ask for silver wear and napkins. This place should only sale drinks since that's the only thing that's good here.

Horrible experience. Had to wait for our check for 30 minutes and it wasn't even a busy night. Yes, there was a table in front of us complaining about everything and they were to busy serving them but just because they were complaining I don't appreciate making us wait. Did we have to complain too? I will not be going back and did not appreciate the wait.

  • Kevin H.

Horrible service.. A 45 min wait when you look at 5 tables open. And the manager Liz excuse for the wait is not over welming their servers. I am an manager at a bar restaurant and this excuse was horrible. Dirty floors when staff are on thier cell phones. Foul language by staff by the restrooms talking about a complaining table that they had to discount due to slow service. 3 servers picking songs on juke box instead of attending to tables or placing Burger King orders. This place is ridiculous. No stars if I could. Matter of fact I would do negative. Very Unprofessional staff. I haven't even had my dinner yet.. I have kids with me and this server just said if I get shitty service I'm not tipping.. Then another server just cursed out a manager right by my table..

Holy Ghetto Applebee's. I was a little frightened coming into this Applebee's and for good reason. First, the host/hostess station has no order or understanding whatsoever. People who came in after us put their names in before us with a little movement towards the front. After getting our names in and seated, we were greeted not by a server, but by a sticky table with so much trash at our feet that we had to brush it aside with our shoe. Being here as a tourist and not knowing much in the way of places to eat and after a long, long car ride from Dallas, we wanted to just eat and get to our hotel. What a bad start!! Our server came over after about 15 minutes and asked if we were ready to order. As we were placing our order (both drink and food at the same time....lord knows we had enough time to decide), our server was being called Nana by some young kids in the corner, not at a table. After interrupting us several times to answer her grandchild, (also a little shocking as our waitress was somewhere in her 30's) we got our order placed and waited. Our food comes not delivered by our waitress but another server who was very attentive and polite. The food came out being held on the side of the plate by pot holders we knew our food was delivered hot and fresh for us from the MICROWAVE!!! I could have swung by Aldi or Walmart and had better food microwaved in our hotel room. The food ironically was pretty decent. The bread on my pasta plate was hard as a rock though. A poor victim of the microwave!! After we finished our food we had to ask our waitress probably 3-4 times for the check. Our check was delivered to us 10 minutes later with only the paper, not book or anything and was soaked with god only knows what. In a strange twist of events , our credit card was taken almost immediately and promptly returned. As we were filling out the receipt, the table behind my wife was being cleared off, shocker to see all the food, napkins, straw wrappers, etc.. Being nicely flung into the floor to add to the pile. We were pretty disgusted with this place and wanted to leave ASAP. Upon our drive to the hotel, we stop at a red light only to be attacked by some guy with a bottle of windex and a window cleaner. After nicely telling him we didn't want our windows cleaned he does it anyway, rumbling on about us paying him the next time around. To our shock, this was witnessed by an undercover cop car behind us who grabs the man and put him in hand cuffs and then comes to our window asking if we wanted our windows cleaned. When we told him we didn't, he cheerfully tells us he is arresting the man and tells us we can go. Holy shit....I will stay away from this part of town. I need a GPS that has alternate route options around the hood. Avoid this Applebee's and it's surrounding areas like the plague. You'll be thankful.

This place is terrible. Not that I'd expect amazing service from an Applebee's, but this establishment doesn't even give "alright" service. It SUCKS. Even though they have several tables available, it takes SO long for them to seat you. It takes FOREVER for a server to even ask what you want to drink, forget about how long it takes to actually order. Once you finally get your over-cooked meal, no one comes by to ask if you even want some ketchup to mask the terrible burnt food they just served. We were there almost 3 hours for what should have been a simple meal. Appetizers are painfully overpriced, as well as the entrees. So not worth it. Go next door for some Popeyes, they have better service.

Horrible service!!! We sat down and waited 10 mins for the waitress LIZ to come to us. She finally asked us what we wanted to drink. About 8 to 10 mins pass and she still didn't bring us our drinks. The place was not busy at all! We just got up and left. How does she even have a job??? They obviously hire trash that no other restaurant's will keep around. We will never return to this hell hole even if it was free! They also had ghetto Ass music playing loud through out the whole restaurant.

After a long day I decided to stop for a quick meal at this Apple Bees on my way home. I clearly have not been there in a while because wow has the place gone down. No one goes there expecting a fine dining experience but I was not expecting tonight. I used to go there with my family and now I don't think I'd ever take kids again. Before my appetizer arrived I heard a song about a girl swallowing a penis as well as Bitch betta have my money by Rihana. While I'm all for bars and clubs playing this, I was appalled that I had to eat while it was playing. I want to note that there were families with small children there. The staff was bouncing around dancing and singing along. My fiancé and I couldn't seem to eat fast enough. I made a comment about the music and the waitress giggled . Yikes!

Our first and only visit took place on 2/12/15. It was so bad that I still feel compelled to share it here. The food took forever. Our server was not attentive to our table. The food finally came out cold. Then we noticed the grilled onions were not fully cooked. However the server was not around to tell. Portion sizes on the room temp fries that came with the burgers were tiny. Then it took forever for a replacement entree to come. The amount of toppings on the new burger were inconsistent with what was on the original. It took asking two servers to finally get a manager. The manager did admit that they were short two cooks. Had they said so at the start it would have changed our expectations and we would have been more understanding. Right when getting the food we noticed the cold fries and told the server. He did go get some baskets of fresh fries. It would have been nice, since they knew that service was suffering, if they had thrown a basket of fries on the table in the 30-45 minutes we sat there between our appetizer and entrees. Doing so would have made me less hungry and more likely to overlook a smaller portion with the meal. Less than a dollar worth of food would have gone a long way in improving the customer experience. Giving out a coupon or small gift card for the next visit would have been acceptable too. It has the added benefit of encouraging people to come back. As management in this industry, you rarely hear about the good experiences, but bad ones can cost you 50 customers due to poor reviews (online and word of mouth). It's well worth the effort and cost to do what is needed to keep people happy . I wish I had looked at the Yelp reviews before going. They are poor going back for quite a while. The night of I had gone back and looked at the reviews on Facebook. This past spring & summer this location was getting mostly favorable reviews on that site. Since August they have mostly been negative. Was there a change in management or a large turnover of other staff? Does Applebees even monitor the posts here? Someone needs to get on top of their social media marketing tatics.

Horrible service. Stopped by because I heard of the $1 draft deal and figured, hey let me give applebees another chance. There were maybe 4 tables seated at our section, it was a Tuesday at 4pm, so we figured we could get a beer and some apps. We waited for about 15 minutes and we're never even approached by a server. We just stood up and visited the popeyes, next door, which I recommend. Applebees, Never Again.

I usually don't write reviews on chains, but I really hate this Applebee's. The food is horrible & it all tastes like it's from the freezer. Complete waste of money.

I work and live in the area, so I come here at least twice a week, well, used to go. I was just there and I had never been more humiliated in my life. We waited to be seated, despite the fact that the restaurant was empty. We ordered drinks, we got our food and hadn't gotten out drinks. We asked for them nicely, the food runner is the host sometimes and he's usually friendly. However, after waiting 30 minutes for the drink, and not getting it, I asked to speak to the manager. Martin was apologetic at first, but when I pointed out that the service had been terrible the whole time, he became very defensive and continued to speak over me, stating that he had worked there for years. I asked for corporates number and for the servers name and he refused to give me both.

Came here for lunch on a Friday. I ordered the three sample platter, dry hot boneless chicken, three tacos which was tasty and the steak quesadilla which was good. It was a party of three and the waitress brought my food out last about 3minutes after she brought the other food out. And the other waitresses hoping around and dancing almost like it was a club. The young lady who sat us at are table was pretty friendly.

Service was horrible. If you plan on having a night where you are ignored most of the time, receive your drink after you are done eating and than on top of it receive cold food ,along with a waitress that completely ignores you, than this is the place for you. Extremely disappointing. From now on I will inform everyone I know to never go to this restaurant ever again.

I am never disappointed going here! They don't have many veggie options but the ones they do have are really good, and others can be made as a veggie option instead of meat.

I'll start by saying that the manager tried to help, but I realize he was unsuccessful once I got home). Here is the entire experience reviewed... My husband wanted a quick steak and we needed a kid friendly place AND we had a gift card to this restaurant, so we drove the 5 miles west. I'd never choose Applebee's unless we were stuck with the option, which we felt we were with the gift card. Anyway... 1. Hostess=no personality. She'll hopefully improve with time. 2. Waitress=great for 90% of the time. 3. Ordered queso dip, quesadillas were brought out. Fixed, but took way too long. Queso yummy...chips not so much. 4. Waited far too long for our food - with two young children that is never fun. 5. My Thai Shrimp Salad came out without half of the ingredients, one of the being peanut sauce. The waitress went into the back to ask about it and she returned saying that the cooks said it only comes with a citrus line vinaigrette. And put a dressing down and I asked if it was peanut sauce. She said yes and left. I tasted if and it wasn't peanut sauce. It was more citrus line vinaigrette. 6. My husband enjoyed the steak and his salad. 7. My daughter enjoyed her mac n cheese and applesauce. 8. After attempting to eat my flavorless salad, I grabbed a menu. This is what was missing from my salad: edamame, almonds, peanut sauce. Stated right there in the menu! I was annoyed with our waitress that she relied on the kitchen staff to tell her what was in the salad instead of looking it up on her own. Or just knowing the menu, like she should. 9. I showed the menu to our waitress and she grabbed her manager. I explained the issue and he had the kitchen make a salad to go and comped the salad for us. He showed us the salad before we left so I could approve it. I just wanted to leave, so I ok'd it. The edamame was now visible and he pointed at an area that he said was peanut sauce. 10. When I got home and put the salad away, I tastes it and there was definitely no peanut sauce anywhere. What the manager thought was peanut sauce was a dark wonton that was draped over the corner of the lettuce, so it sort of looked like peanut sauce. There were also no almonds. Seriously - was the salad made wrong on purpose yet again?!? I knew I should have tasted it before I left. Because my husband and kids were satisfied and because the salad was comped and the manager did try to solve the problem, I'm not too mad. But I think other people should know what they're getting here. What I'm most annoyed about it that we have a little over $4 remaining on the gift card. I wish we would have gotten dessert so that we would have spent the entire amount. With that small amount left, I highly doubt we will use it anyway. If someone from the restaurant wants to reply and offer a gift card back to us, I'd consider trying one more time. But I would definitely be checking my meal over very carefully.

I sat in the corner booth. There are two benches that come together. There's a small crack between the two. It's filled with food, NASTY! I went on a Wednesday and waited over an hour for my food. Very disappointed. The sirloin on the two for $20 was good. Waitress tried her best.

Let's just say I haven't been to Applebee's in years thought i'd give it anthor chance well boy was I wrong ! First got to love the loud odd music . Our server came 20 mins after we sat . She asked we ready to eat . I said well we would like a few drinks 15 mins later we got our drinks . We then ordered our food which took another approximately 35 minutes the food came out I had ordered chicken and steak fajitas the pan was sizzling but when I touched my chicken it was pretty ice cold. Anyways the food was ok other then it was cold. Service was slow but what did I expect . Let's just say I'll never go back!

I left Applebee's on Grand feeling robbed. I went there to try the unlimited ribs special. The "riblets" were these flat bones with tiny bits of meat on them. They served a very small portion on the first plate and refills were ridiculously tiny. You would have to get 10 refills to feel as if you have eaten! You will never get full on them, unless you find bones delectable, because that's all you get. To add insult to injury, they seemed to discourage refills! With tax and a tip, the bill was $20.00. It was like finding your wallet had been stolen.

I order once something from there, for pick up. It was microwave "cook" with hair on the top ugh. I almost puke on my self and from that time I stay away from Applebee's.

I wish I could give this place a zero. There needs to be an inspection done on this place. My mom and I chose this place for lunch and in the middle of our meal a ROACH.... yes you read right R-O-A-C-H ran across our TABLE... yes T-A-B-L-E. the most disgusting meal ever. The manager comped the meal and killed the roach... at the table.

Guilty Pleasure! Yeah, I know. Chain restaurant. Food people say I'm not allowed to like it, but if the food tastes good, who am I to complain? For those who live under a rock, Applebees is your regular American fare chain restaurant with a somewhat standard menu... so we're talking burgers, steak, chicken, grilled fish, sandwiches. It's easy to rip on the place. It's very popular and they actually have commercials on TV *gasp*. The fact is I never got anything at Applebees that I couldn't eat. The place seems to always be packed, but I never waited more than ten minutes for a table. Sometimes it's loud and people are cheering while watching sports on the flat screens. The service is pretty decent considering how crowded it is. In terms of commercial American sit-down food chains, Applebees ranks higher than many others. Is it better than many of the high quality restaurants in the city? Definitely not. Don't judge. I like eating!

So it was one of those nights where not long ago, I was trying to brainstorm something that was halfway inbetween where all of us were coming from, and would still be open late. Considering that in mind and that it was mid-evening, I realized this place would work, since it had later hours than a lot of places around, and that it wouldn't be too far a drive for any of us going. So Applebee's it was. Food was about what I expected for chain restaurant par, not gonna knock your socks off but just alright. I hate to say it, but the food wasn't quite as good as I was hoping it'd be. Thinking about all the things I ordered, I was hoping it'd be a slight bit better than it ended up being, and it reminded me(having only been to an Applebee's once before, believe it or not) how much I prefer similar sit down chains(i.e. Chili's, Bennigan's(too bad so, so few are left....), Ruby Tuesday) over Applebee's. OTOH though, the server we had was surprisingly good, and kept up with drink refills much better than I thought we would. Men's bathroom was surprisingly clean(too many chain restaurants have s***** bathrooms that aren't kept up, so I'll give credit where it's due here), bar patrons were pleasant and not annoying, no children I could hear were screaming anywhere in the restaurant, and the music wasn't annoying(they have a TouchTunes internet jukebox). Staff was also pleasant as well, but I can't get over the fact that while some of it was fine(i.e. strawberry tea my friend got), some of it seemed just average as well(i.e. fries, and the 3 cheese penne pasta I got). Overall the more I think about the food(edited on 1/29/14, due to the fact I was debating forever in my head if this is more 2 or 3 stars...), the more I realize to myself that it isn't quite 3 stars, but a hair short of that due to the food being not quite as good as I was hoping it'd be. Can't deny that they're other chain restaurants I just prefer, over Applebee's. The strawberry tea(think that's what it was my friend ordered?) wasn't bad, though. And of course, one of those times where I wish I could use a half star rating, since they were a strong 2.5 stars, that may as well be like 2.75. I wouldn't rush back here, but I'd be open to giving this location another shot. I like this location more than the one I went to in Hodgkins, a number of years back. After all, that Quesadilla Burger was calling my name(lol), and I know I would've gotten that if it wasn't for the fact it was not part of the 2 for $20 menu.

Applebee's bores me. Really and truly. Their drinks are mediocre--I sent back a "platinum" strawberry margarita--which tasted horrible and *nothing* like a strawberry margarita--and opted for a white peach sangria. The sangria wasn't bad except for the fact that it tasted nothing like white peach or sangria. After that I stuck with water. The water, I am happy to report, tasted like water.

Let me start out by saying for some reason we really like Applebees. With that said, this is the "WORST APPLEBEES EVER!!" The servers are slow. Not like it took 5 mins to get my drinks slow. Slow as in it took 25 mins to get a refill. The food comes out cold. The servers and managers are rude. We thought we just came on a bad night, but know it happened on our next trip as well. This just a really really really bad Applebees.

Food wasn't bad, but I had to write this review based on our waiter. The guy left the check on our table at the end of our meal.. When I had cash to pay, we handed it to him and asked us if we needed change. After we said no he just took it and walked away! No, thank you or nothing! Rudest waiter I've ever met.

Came here while my car was being repaired at Mcgrath down the street. I wanted to have a couple beers and an app while I waited. Walked in around 500 PM last Thursday and was not greeted by anyone. Stood by the door for several minutes before seating myself at a high-top table in the bar section. Sat here for about 10 minutes without a menu or anyone greeting me. There was a group of serves hanging around the bar area/section with takeout boxes. All of them kept looking my way and finally a gentleman walked over and handed me a menu. I waited about 10 more minutes and still no server came over. Finally I got up and walked to the bar and the bartender instantly said "no one ever came over to you?" Luckily, the bartender "Giovanna" was very nice and fast. Got me a beer and a water right away and took my order. The food came quickly and was pretty good. Luckily their bartender was able to make up for the terrible service upon walking in .

It is a comfort food type of place. Very good food selection. Spacious comfortable seats decent taste. I will highly recommend their dessert for dessert lovers. Try their maple butter blondie. Constructively it's unhealthy greasy food and the venues AC is too cold

I ordered out. The staff was very accommodating and hooked up some pop b/c of my large order. The food was ok..... I say that cuz I always order the asian chicken salad, and it was blah... appetizer platter-ok 3 cheese pasta- good quesadillas-weird cuz of bacon n cheese broccoli soup-yum onion soup-yum asian chicken salad/500 calorie-good.. but small portion

I really love applebees. I've been to this one about 4 times, and each time I always order a cheeseburger. They have the best cheeseburgers, nobody can compare to them. Good fries too. Good honey mustard too ( I always order it on the side) I haven't been here in awhile, and I have been craving an applebees cheeseburger, I'll be back again soon!

OMG this place is horrible! Okay well maybe it's not that bad but it's definitely not good. I've been here several times and the food has always been less than mediocre. Tonight I went there and I ordered the Sangria. It was lousy! Watered down and no flavor (or liquor for that matter). I can see why it was only 4 bucks. I will say that on a previous visit I had a caramel apple martini that was excellent. One star. I ordered the fish and chips which was disgusting. The fish was so greasy! It makes my heart hurt just thinking about it. The saving grace of the meal tonight was the dessert. I had the Chimicheesecake. It was absolutely delicious. One star. The server started off pretty good but he gradually lost interest in us. He actually brought the check out before the dessert! AND the dessert wasn't even included in the bill. So when we tried to get his attention to alert him to this error he came over and said "Wuz up?" You should have seen the look on my face! lol Overall, this Applebee's sucks. The food is disgusting, the drinks and the service are hit or miss. I say you'd do better going to the KFC next door.

ok so this is the other restaurant I must write about. Now I'm gonna sound like an alchy here bc da only reason I come here is to drink, order appetizers and chat w/ one of my great friends. We always order the perfect margarita because it comes in the lil tin here you can at least get 2-3 servings out of one =) Now as far as da food, Definitely agree not da greatest. We normally just order wings cheese sticks and whatever else. It's 4 da drinks they get 4 stars, Now I know other reviews complained about drinks not tastin well and its because Adam or Augusto weren't working the bar, they KNOW how to make drinks. Augusto is da best at makin "new" drinks you've never heard of. If u sit by da bar they are great ppl to talk 2 also. If it wasn't 4 them honestly probably wouldn't b here every week. ha ha.

I am highly impressed with the quality of Applebee's and I'll admit they're as good as their rivals (Chili's) Admittedly, I go to Chili's more, but Applebee's is quickly becoming another player for my monetary devotion. I've decided that taking friends to Applebee's is a pretty good choice for an evening outing; the food has been great the prices very reasonable. The service is super too as the staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Pros: Ample Choices, Good quality, Reasonable Prices, Parking Cons: none Cost: $$ of 5 Overall Rating: 4.25 of 5 Recommendation: Highly Recommended

HORRIBLE!! Do not go here.... Our service was horrible, took 30 minutes just to get appetizers and they were super slow. The host was dumb and acted like a mental 2 year old.. Our waitress was slow and didn't care. Also we came here at 12 at night for half price appetizers and we were charged full price.. the host also told me they were ALL half price. I mentioned something politely and they did nothing about it. Ruined my Applebee's Chicago experience. Safe to say she did not get a tip... And I never stiff... Crappy service=crappy tip. Her name was Nicole and the hosts name was kevin. I don't ever leave negative reviews but this was so bad I had to get it out there. Also.. Spanish music was SO loud I had to basically yell to my fiance In a conversation.

I give this pile a no star review for the customer service alone ... I had a party of 10... So we were told a 30 min wait ok right i get it a party of 10... 45 min later i walk in to find out what is going on ... The hostess tells me that a group came in and took our seat ... So i said so this is my fault ? No response ... I ask t o talk to a manager and try to see what he is going to to to make up for our now very long wait ... He tells me to deal with it. .... If a place doesmt care about 10 people how much less do they care about 1... Stay far away it will be better for you.

By far the WORST kitchen crew I have ever experienced.. Having waited 1.45 minutes for a salad that I never got to eat is RIDICULOUS ... Sadly the most friendly and apologetic waitstaff got the brunt of the WORST KITCHEN STAFF IN THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS .. I left hungry and angry sadly I was not the only patron... The restaurant is in a great location , but should this continue Applebee's will not survive ... Management you can apologize all you want but focus on FIXING the problem..we the neighborhood would like to keep you open...I personally nor my family won't come back until I start seeing Yelpers post there has been a change

Went there last night this place is horrible go to chilies instead food was gross came out of microwave. I should have gone to Taco Bell next door instead. The waitress was super rude she threw everything on the table like wtf we're paying for this??? I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!!

Poor customer service, didn't even receive water for 15 minutes after sitting in to dine. To top it off my pink haired cunt of a waitress had an attitude when we asked who was working our section. I damn near was spitting sand after finally receiving my appetizer of hot wings because I had to ask a whole other employee for water due to the lack of attention my table was getting. Now I'm currently debating on waiting for my entree or telling them to fuck off and just paying for my appetizer and leaving.

My fiancé & I usually come have dinner here and in our past experiences we were the poor unfortunate souls who got placed with horrible servers but tonight was the total opposite. We were lucky enough to get a server by the name of Megan and she was AMAZING. She was attentive always checked on us and we didn't feel rushed what so ever. The food was delicious and the vibe of the restaurant was even better. This definitely makes up for our past experiences. I HIGHLY recommend that whoever comes to this restaurant requests her as their server. You won't be disappointed!!!

My wife and I decided to grab a late lunch at Applebee's. We have never been here before and figured it was like Chili's. We were seated by the hostess in a booth and were told that out waitress will be with us shortly ..... 20 minutes later not one came to our tables. Waitresses were busy talking in the back area. We tried waiving and no one responded. At that point we walked out and no one even talked to us as we were invisible. By far one of the worst service ever in a restaurant. Don't go here, the place is pretty dirty and service is horrible.

Ok, I am in Chicago, having just moved my son there. Restaurants all over the place. so where do we go? Applebees. I apologize, but every so often, I jst want something familiar. The restaurant was busy even at 10 pm. May it was the Olympics or the White Sox plaing, but the parking lot was full and ti took three trips around before I got a recently vacated parking spot. One more time and I would have qualified. Clean restaurant. Food was good and hot. Server was fine, though I thought it was odd when he told me I would not like the Long Island Iced Tea if I had it made from the well liquour. It tasted just fine to me. Otherwise, nothing out of the ordinary, good or bad. Just a nice, comfortable chain restaurant. Now off to McDonalds!

I usually come here with my boyfriend when we want some good ole americana....we usually order 2 for 20 deals..we start with the mild boneless buffalo wings..I order the Chicken breast with shrimp & red potatoes & he gets steak with mash & veggies..good as a chain could be..come for their half price apps n drink specials during the week!

Went here on a Saturday night with my friend, and it was packed! But luckily we didn't have to wait to be seated we were promptly seated at a booth. This isn;t the first time I've ate here but I must admit the service isn't the best. The food is great and always cooked to my order . I had a Steak and shrimp plate and it was cooked pretty decent. My friend order something similar and he enjoyed it as well. We also had the sampler appetizer and it was good as well no complaints on the food. However they forggot to bring us silverware and it was a pain in the ass to get the waitress to come to the table. I am a big water drinker and I personally feel my cup needs to be filled at all times and I hate when I have to ask for a refill on WATER!! like really ?? that should be a no brainer. I didn't appreciate that once the food came to the table the waitress didn't come back until we were pretty much done didnt ask if evertyhing was ok. She simply laid the check on the table and walked off. Overall the food is great but they NEED a friendlier staff

Very strange experience. It had literally been 6 years since trying my last Applebee's and now I remember why. I had some kind of Cajun Shrimp and pasta dish that was just awful. The shrimp itself was spicy but without nuance. Kind of hit-you-over-the-head with pepper. Then there was the pasta which was overcooked and had zero flavor. I won't be returning.

Love applebees. Margaritas are good, sangria is amazing, and if you want non alcoholic drink you have got to try the frozen strawberry lemonade. AMAZING!! Food is always great here and portions could be a tad bigger, but it leaves room for dessert. Must tries: lunch special- tomatoe basil soup and ceaser salad. Frozen strawberry lemonade. Dinner special- cheese stuffed meatballs on a bed of pasta is delish!

I love Applebee's as a rule, but this location really pretty much stinks. The service on three visits has been dismal on all counts. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is simply the fact that it's an Applebee's and the food is pretty hard to screw up, so it's still what you'd expect.

Everytime I leave this place I feel like I have to run to the bathroom.. I try something new I have to run to the bathroom, trying a new appetizer, I have to run to the bathroom.. its not a pleasant place to go, the service sucks, the wait is forever, it's just not worth going and wasting your time and money on over pricey food and drinks that are watered down and pretty much go right through you.

I've been here a couple times the first time the place was packed and the service was bad order came in an hour and a half , but we decided to come back and give it another chance. The service was great the next few times around, the food was good as the dessert and drinks were as well. Favorite drink strawberry lemonade, appetizers are what I come for mostly and the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream is the best I've tasted so far. If you come to eat here I recommend to come for the drinks, appetizers and desserts.

I usually try to avoid these types of places, but sometimes, the hubby really wants something from here(why, I don't really know, but I do indulge him once in a while). Very crowded and busy on a Friday night. Strike one-server too busy to get us water in a reasonable time. Strike two-server not working in a efficient manner, making several trips when,if properly planned, could save steps. Strike three-salad arrived drenched in wayyy too much dressing and me too hungry and tired of waiting to complain.I did however, love ,love ,love the Mango-Strawberry Margarita, and at $4,it was a bargain!! I might go back for some apps and cockies,on a less busy night. Our server was very nice and he did try very hard to keep up,so maybe it was an off night for him. I will try to be kinder.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.
