Ordered for pickup. Received my food, but was missing a set of tacos and they also put the wrong toppings on the tacos. I will be purchasing my tacos at MACHO TACO from now on. Customer service is eh. Tips to Zacatacos: ASSURE THE ORDERS ARE CORRECT and BE NICE TO YOUR CUSTOMER. HUNGRY PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING TO PUT UP WITH SEVERAL DISCREPANCIES. Wouldn't be surprised, or mad, if this location closed down.

I use to like to like this place. But....in my recent visit, I ordered chilaquiles and it was awful. I asked for scrambled eggs and I got an egg omelet...are you kidding me??? So I ate the rest and left the egg. You do not eat chilaquiles with an egg omelet! That's a NO NO!!! Also, lately their tacos have been very greasy. Yuk again. I'm not too fondly of this place anymore. Will definitely find another place instead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The food quality has diminished and so has the quantity, its not what it used to be, although its a cute place.

This place has gotten gradually worse. Not only was my order incorrect, the steak was dry & hard from apparently sitting on the grill for some time. This place is conveniently located blocks from my home. I've ordered from, eaten many times from their Pulaski location without any issues. After this last experience, this place will only be an unpleasant memory.

Ordered the special today which was the burrito dinner. It says right on the menu/sign Specials mon-fri 5.95. They charged me 7.59, when I asked and pointed out the sign they said oh they raised the price. How about you cover up the price or change it? Put some tape over it or something. I wanted no sour cream and to add rice to the burrito. After waiting 20 minutes for my burrito I brought it back to work where I discovered no rice, and that it had sour cream. Deeply Disappointed. EDIT: I went back the next day and explained what happened. They were kind enough to give me a free burrito and drink so all was made right. Thank you zaca tacos, a perfect example of a bad experience being turned into a good one. It turns out the daily special is actually 5.95 and the employee was wrong.

Food is always great but the service is the worst. You'll literally sit there forever looking like an idiot as waitresses pass you by. Rarely do they ever come around and ask if you need anything. Also, they hide the hot carrots unless you ask for them, what's up with that?

I was pretty excited to learn they were opening a new Zacatacos here. Brand new building and all. I've only been to the other one on Harlem in Berwyn, which is small, over-crowded, and a pain to park. Thankfully, visiting this location is much simpler. It's a little different in that you pay for your order first, and they give you a number and bring you your food. But actual food quality is just the same: very good! Not much else to add. If you're familiar with Zacatacos food, you'll know what to expect. You'll just be getting it in a nicer atmosphere than the other locations.

I decided to give this place another chance. I was here when they first opened several years back, and just though 'meh', not memorable, and remember the take-out service taking forever. Fast forward a few years, and we were driving by, so we stopped in. We ended up trying the pork tacos (amazing), nachos (not a good option for take-out), and a chicken burrito dinner. The pork tacos were the star of the show and the green salsa was a nice compliment. The pork was tender and flavorful. The nachos were a huge portion, but ended up turning soggy on the 5 minute ride home. We'd only get them again if we were eating in. Chicken burrito dinner was average, and we did not care for the rice/beans that came with it. It was fairly busy and service was fast and friendly. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes and the food was made fresh and hot and a good price for the quality and quantity. We will be back for sure - probably just do takeout.

Steak tacos ok , sides were bland junk .

The steak tacos are really good. This is my personal 2nd favorite place for tacos. I would recommend it to anyone who loves tacos. The service is friendly too. It's consistently a good place to go to. There have been a couple of times that the food took a long time to come. Despite this, the service is usually fast and on point!

I go there every weds for food since the kids and hubby seem to love it there. The last three times they've messed up my order. I'm spending $40-$50 each visit, the least you can do is get the order right. The food and service is horroble. Update 3/25/15- went back because the hubby loves anything Mexican food even if dog food tasted better and I ordered the Carne asada. WORST ever. Strips of leather would've tasted better. Tasted like the meat was over cooked and was sitting out since morning!! Not even gonna call to complain. I'm simply not taking my business back there. And sure as heck won't be giving money to hubby to go there either. Your food sucks zacatacos.

I've eaten here about 3 times, each time coming back hoping it'd get better, but it never is. I don't know what it is but I always feel sick after their food. The soup they gave I'm guessing that was free, was cool not hot like it's supposed to be, I've had it somewhere else. The restaurant is also not as sanitary as I like restaurants to be.

Coming out of my summer Yelping hibernation (too much to do, not enough time to do it), I thought I'd take a few moments to review a set of restaurants and establishments that I've been to since June, and I'll start with Zacatacos in Bridgeview. Location: 4 out of 5 (for Chicago Fire fans) Not being a native of the Bridgeview area, I don't know how convenient it would be to just up and go to Zacatacos, but if you happen to have season tix to the Chicago Fire, this place is pretty darned convenient. Since I do try to leave for the games with plenty of time to spare, Zacatacos isn't too far south of the stadium that I think, "Oh...what a pain" and whereas Magueyes can be uber crowded, Zacatacos is not. Service: 4 out of 5 Very fast and efficient service, even with other diners around. I don't have anything negative to say about the service at this location. Pricing: 3.5 out of 5 Commensurate with all of the other franchised Mexican eateries in the burbs and the city. Not as cheap as an independent taqueria, but it's not going to break the bank, either? Expect to pay 2 - 2.50 per taco depending on what you want (or if you want add-ons), and burritos are about 7 or 8 bucks at dinner time. If you want rice and beans to fill out the rest of your meal, it's probably another 2 bucks or so. The drinks are remarkably cheap, and probably not the best for your health. I really like the purple hued hibiscus drink (Jamaica), and the gargantuan size only sets you back about 2.50. It's well over 40 oz. Beware if you have diabetes. Selection of Items: 4 out of 5 I'd venture to say that this particular location has what you would find in any other franchised establishment, but they also do a little extra on the weekends and serve pozole and menudo. Of course, in the summer time - I'm not exactly hankering for a hot stew, but I could see how it would be tasty and satisfying in the winter. Expect to find a variety of tacos, tortas, burritos with fillings such as pork, steak, chicken, chorizo, vegetarian, and yes - even tongue. Other favorites such as bread flank steak, stuffed chile peppers, chimichangas, quesadillas, also exist. The breakfast menu is expansive, though I've never eaten that meal at this location. Quality of food: 4 out of 5 I'm by no means an expert on Mexican style food, but I've never had a complaint coming out of Zacatacos. My favorite is lengua, and as long as the meat tastes sort of like a pot roast (true story) and it isn't dried out, I'm a happy customer. Overall: 4 out of 5 A good value, and convenient if you're going to or coming from Toyota Park. Be mindful that certain add-ons in addition to what they provide with the meal will incur an additional cost, like sour cream. For example, the tacos don't usually come with sour cream, so if you ask for it, it's an extra quarter (as is avocado and a flour tortilla in lieu of corn). However, some sour cream does come with a burrito, so as long as you're ok with the amount in there, there's not an added cost. If you want more, it's a nominal fee. I hope that makes sense.

I remember having their steak nachos at the original location almost 10 years ago and thinking that they were the best thing ever. Recently, I was visiting my parents and thought, "Hey, let's get nachos!" Well, they weren't anywhere as good as I remember them. Mostly because they skimped on steak and guacamole, but also on the cheese. The nachos were mostly just chips. I do understand since the price of steak and avocados has risen. It still feels like wrong since you are paying $7 for 25 cents worth of tortilla chips.

I have been here often to find the service is so so but the drive thru and manager are absolutely aweful!!!! Everytime we go thru the drive thru our order has been wrong. When we finally indicated the problem to the manager that night the comment was "oh Well, i will tell you what I tell all of my customers....once the food leaves here check it"! 1 im not going to open a burrito in the freakin drive thru andl if I am paying you for an order and you cant get it right then you have a problem and you no longer have my business, my family's business or any of my friends. This was an unbelievable comment to make as a Manager of ANY establishment. I am a Manager for a very large Corporate headquarters and no matter who my customer was I should be satisfying any issues that arise, not making smart obnoxious comments like this manager did. I and every person I know will not frequent this establishment again!!!!

  • Mozart G.

Im actually a fan of theirs and I initialed wanted to write them a review to praise them, until I was in the area one late morning and I was probably one of their first or was their first customer of the day. The best way of explaining is I want to say they served me left over steak meat from the night before and they figured it would be ok. I could not believe I was at the same place. Bought so many tacos and everyone was turned off.

    (1)
  • Jose D.

This place is got the worst tacos I ever had, ordered 4 steak tacos , lots of nerve and fat, and the meat tastes like some kind of lower grade meat, will never be back.

    (1)
  • Junior D.

Use to love this place but quality took a nose dive off a skyscraper. I'd rather eat Taco Bell. Not sure if it's. the cooks or servers but last three times we went there they messed up orders with our food(3 times with one order) also Tastes like they changed meat to lower quality compared to what they used when they first opened.

  • Deb I.

Greeted with chips and the hottest, most tasteless salsa ever, took forever to even get water. Had to ask for a bowl to dip salsa in; it came in squirt bottles, of all things. Food ok, some better than others in our party. Chimichangas were dry, but quesadillas excellent. Four of us received a fork only, one person got a fork and knife. Full service, except for receiving the bill and payment, which we had to figure out on our own. One of the strangest places we've been to. Not sure if we will return.

  • Andy M.

I use to love this place. I was a huuuge Zaca fan but it has changed for the worse. My steak tacos were cold to the touch and the amount of meat was minuscule. The al pastor tacos were drenched in grease and also cold. I lost respect for this place and will not eat there again. The waitress was very kind...which was the only compliment of the evening. Deeply heart broken. :(. Stay away from Bridgeview Zaca Tacos. Zaca at 71/Pulaski is the way to go.

    (1)
  • Wanda A.

I gave them 2 stars because the steak is awesome. Everyone makes a big deal about this place and I don't understand why. The salsa is the worse, and it comes in a bottle. The food is expensive and the portions are small. Maybe I dislike this place because everyone makes a big deal about it. It's mediocre, high priced Mexican food with horrible salsa.

How the hell is this place closed before 9 on a Saturday night?!!!!! I guess this place no get busy but still weird how most of the drunks should be going here way past 9pm to have food... Crazy!!!!!!!!!!!

I left it took so long to make an order and the place was dead.. Boo

Returned again and this time tried the Chicken Enchiladas with the green sauce. Fantastic! Their food really is that good! I've also been told they have a great Mexican breakfast.

OMG! Stopped there for some tacos after buying a car in the area this weekend and the meat is amazing! To die for! Place was packed but the food arrived quick and hot. Best tacos I've had in a long time. Nice new building as well. Very clean. I will be back when I'm in the area.

I used to get tacos from their location on 71st and Pulaski all the time. Imagine my excitement when I realized they were moving into my area on 84th and Harlem. Something about the meat at Zaca tacos is just different then your standard Mexican take out place. Maybe they charbroil it? Maybe they grill it? Maybe its more of a marinade. I dont know, but its the closest that Ive come to having a taco take out that tasted like someone put lots of time into it at home. Its slightly on the pricey side. I had 3 steak tacos and a large diet coke and it was over $8.00. However, the amount of meat on these tacos totally made up for it! My tacos came to the drive through (also a HUGE plus) piping hot (literally almost too hot to eat), and FILLED with meat. Looking forward to trying a few other things there soon. I will say though as a side note...that the one review who said they charge for every little extra does have a point. Then again....most places do.

  • Nadeem B.

Finally one closer to home.... I originally started going to the location on 59th and Pulaski. This one is just as good and now its only minutes away. Best Steak tacos, burritos and nachos around. Yea Buddy!

Be aware about Zacatacos: 1. Quality About Food: Not so good, meat tacos are nasty, they use the third or fourth not quality meat, taste awful, if you ask for a whole chicken breast they charge you $2.00 extra bucks, but red salsa is a killer!, no comments for green salsa. Be aware about this: You have to pay extra if order chips! You have to pay extra if you ask for Limes! You have to pay extra if you ask for anything! 2. Customer Service: People that works there deserve to be in another place working. 3. Price: I pay what it takes when the food is good. Not at Zacatacos! I thought finally at this location will be a full restaurant style, but sadly is not, my question is Mr. Business Owner: why if you have now this place with larger parking space and drive thru, business is better... oh! watch out, it is closed on Tuesday's all day, hello! wake up!!! Don't waste your money here! You've warned.

  • Randy R.

Best taco place in the area hands down, they use real skirt steak marinade the meat very well, as for the person that said they rather eat Taco Bell you can't even compare that Americanized dog shit Hispanic food clearly your ok with the bare minimum in food quality, hey might as well wait until they take out the trash and you can just eat that crap for free! That's like comparing little Caesars to giordano's.....

I was going through the drive-thru the other day. All I ordered was five tacos and once at the window, after paying, I asked for a lime. The man rolls his eyes, and lets out a big "UGGHHH!!!" I could not believe that he just huffed and puffed over me asking if I can have a lime. I am horrified with their service. It was incredibly rude and I will not be returning. Although the food is good, I have never had a good experience with their service, and that experience just tipped me over the edge.

I met up my family after work on Sunday since we all were hungry and I had a taste for tacos! I believe this open recently and the place is nice inside and spacious. Our waitress was friendly and fast. We got there about 2 hours before closing time and the food we ordered still came out fast and freshly prepared. We ordered nachos and it was probably the one of the best tasting nachos. I didn't end up ordering tacos since I shared with my daughter but our taco salad was great! I ordered extra avocado and cheese and they didn't skimp since I wanted them on the side. Eat here if you have a hankering for some fast, friendly service and great Mexican food.

  • Aurora S.

We got some food through the drive through the other day and I don't know if it was because it was mid-afternoon but nothing tasted fresh. I had chilles rellenos and it was VERY oily and the oil seemed kind of rancid. The gorditas were a big mystery to us... we kept trying to figure out what we must have accidentally ordered. My son and fiance refused to eat their food. I will say the rice and beans were pretty good, albeit not incredibly authentic tasting. I don't think I'll ever return here. I got stomach aches from all of the oil.

A friend turned me onto Zacatacos, and I've been a fan since. Grilling the steak give them a different flavor then use about any other Mexican eatery in the area. The prices are fair, the food is fantastic, and the employees are friendly. Parking is difficult at times, the lot is small, but this is only because how good the food is, it's always packed!

  • Ed C.

I am a HUGE fan of ZACATACOS and have been to ALL of the other locations. I have had no problems with any locations but this one. One night I wanted a huevos con Chorizo Torta, something I have ordered at the other locations all the time(AND ARE AMAZING!),but this location flat out refused to make it. They have all the ingredients but said they wouldnt make it they could only make a Chorizo Torta. This is the first time in the history of me eating Mexican Food that a place refused to make a simple Torta. LOST A CUSTOMER FOR THIS LOCATION. I WILL ALSO RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO VISIT THE OTHER LOCATIONS NOT THIS ONE.

  • Frank J.

My new favorite place for Mexican! Being a Taco Bell kind of guy my friend turned me on to a more authentic kind of Mexican food. For the first time I tried a cilantro, onion and steak taco with a sprinkle of lime juice......I am addicted. their steak is bursting with flavor and the chicken is good too.

All I have to say is Move over Los Comales. Food is Top Notch And not greedy with the steak. Im in love with all the waitress there

The best potato tacos and great prices!

  • Diana H.

Food is always amazing for a great price. I like to get their steak nachos but have everything separate so when I get home my chips are still nice a crispy and can make sure all the chips are covered how I like it. I crave this place all the time

As soon as you walk in there is a sign to seat yourself, but then there's also a line of people ordering food. So it's a little confusing as to what your suppose to do. Order then sit? No, sit and they'll take your order. They need a sign saying take out only so you don't waste your time. Also this location took a really long time to bring out two tacos. Aside from that Zaco tacos is still my favorite taco spot. Not too sure about this location though.

  • Russell H.

The third strike and they are OUT. I am saddened by this because I really liked the ground beef tacos with onions, cilantro and sour cream. Unfortunately, twice before when coming through the drive-thru, I was not served ground beef but overly chewy steak (which is why I get ground beef). Two nights ago, I stopped in the drive-thru to give them another chance. I ordered the 2 taco dinner with ground beef, onions, cilantro and sour cream. While the tacos were correct this time, the rice and beans that rounded out the dinner were cold (the tacos were still hot). Good bye, Zacatacos, there are plenty of other similar restaurants nearby that get my order correct and provide hot food when it is supposed to be.

    (1)
  • Monica F.

This location has the WORST service ever. I have heard multiple stories, not to mention my experience where when I asked for a lime the guy literally "huffed and puffed" at my request. Not sure why asking for a lime caused him to get so upset! But service should never be like that- it's how you loose customers!

ordered here a while ago and the food is great but my order was incorrect and over charged. after calling to complain i was told sense i already had the food that is was my problem

  • Justin G.

I love their food. Zacatacos is definitely my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Chicago area. Their breakfast is especially delicious. Their 71st and South Pulaski location is excellent, as well. But this location is newer, larger, and always clean with good service.

  • Evelyn R.

Would give them 0 stars if I could. Have been there twice in the past 2 weeks and everytime I was treated like their red headed step child. If I'm spending $20-$30 bucks on dinner, why must I be nickle and dimed on items that are typically standard at any other mexican food place! Last week I was given the option of corn or flour tortillas so I picked flour. I asked for a Limon on my way out and they said its a 50 cent charge. Last night I ordered the same 2 meals, when I ask the cashier if I could get flour vs corn tortillas she says there's an extra charge. I explain to her I was just there last week and they OFFERED me the option she asks her manager Raul, he rudely yells from the other end of the restaurant that they should've charged me! Wtf! The food is decent nothing above average it just happened to be the closest place to me on my way home but never again! Andddddd the drive thru is a joke, there is nothing fast nor convenient about it. I called my order ahead and still had to wait 15-20 minutes #aintnobodygottimeforthat

  • Ramsey B.

The tacos are great. However, when you order the carne asada strips dinner, the meat is very difficult to chew. My recommendation is to stay away from the carne asada strips and order the tacos. This way, you'll guarantee yourself chewable meat.

  • Z B.

I've been coming here for a while. I came recently to try the steak burrito here. The service is pretty good. The staff are quick with the food. They are also very friendly to their customers. My steak burrito turned out pretty good. There was a lot of steak, and just some cheese. The steak was pretty tasty as well as the cheese. All in all, great Mexican restaurant. I will come back.

My Review For Other Zaca Locations-Is 4 Stars--- One Of The Best Food Spots Of Chicago. My Opinion. I Love This Place. The Steak & Chicken Prepared Here With Various Combos And Dishes Definitely Set Them Far Ahead Of Other "Authentic" Claiming Counterparts. From The Salsa's To The Entrees I'm Positive You will Be Pleased.--- This Place Actually Handed "Zaca "The Name A Backstep. It Seriously Was A Problem To Get Corn And Flour Tortillas With My Taco Order. I Offered To Pay Any Difference In Cost Adjustment. This Was Not Happening. When Order Arrived It Was Nothing I Suggested. I Again,Kicking Up The Coolness And Double Checkin My Rudness Pointed Out The Mere Silly Request. Was Told " That's How We Make Our Tacos"- Yeah,No S#*T,...Can You Add Flour? BOGUS I Refused To Even Pay. I Walked Out. The Only Smudge On The Zaca Franchise *This Was A Few Years Ago

I'm a huge Zacatacos fan and have been dining at the 2 Pulaski locations since they opened years ago. Unfortunately, there is a severe drop off in quality at the Harlem Ave. locale. It's really unfortunate because the restaurant happens to be very nice. Bottom line is that the meat (both chicken and steak) are far too salty. Really don't understand why this is the case. A real bummer.

    (2)
  • Marisol R.

Unless you have a ridiculous amount of time to spare and aren't hungry (but then why would you be there in the first place right?) do not come to this location. I dined in with 5 other people so I figured "it's ok, it's a lot of us" but NO. If the food was taking long, the servers could have been more attentive and refilled our drinks and chips. But they wouldn't. I had to flag them down and ask them for refills. After having waited AT LEAST an hour if not more, our food was brought out to us and tasted great. It was what we expected. (We are from Cicero and have dined at their Cicero and Berwyn location many times) The only negative thing about it was that my husband was ripped off the amount of meat in his torta. It was mostly bread! Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be frustrated and annoyed with the slow service. I WON'T be going back here ever.

    (2)
  • Lynn B.

They use good quality meat. Everything else including their service is pretty terrible. They frequently mess up your order. I've had a piece of paper in my torta and a fly wrapped with my tacos!! Unacceptable for any restaurant! They also charge you for limes with your tacos and they don't have cilantro? What kind of Mexican food is this??

    (1)
  • Veronica R.

Okay so I felt the need to write a review after I seen all the bad or low star reviews on here but still tried it out today anyways. Came in not knowing what to expect since we are new to the neighborhood. I ordered the enchiladas Rojas (red), which were fantastic and I'm pretty picky. My son and husband ordered the steak tacos and both agreed that they were pretty good! Most of the reviews said poor service, but we walked in and were greeted right away and serviced by a lovely young lady Jennifer who was attentive our whole visit. She was actually very sweet and checked on us quite frequently. We will be coming back here most definitely.

  • Dan D.

Solid steak tacos and excellent salsa highlights this location. There are better ones in the city and the drive thru wait can be a bit long, but overall I would return.

    (3)
  • Gary A.

Came in for a couple steak tacos, they have a drivethru which is a plus. Their tacos are good, but overpriced. They also have a very low speaker in drivethru, maybe that's how they messed up my simple grade school order. "2 steak tacos with cilantro and onion, add cheese" they already come with cilantro and onion, how hard was it to add cheese?

    (3)
  • Frank D.

My kids would eat here at least 3 nights a week if it were up to them. The steak for the tacos and burritos gets marinated with lime and tastes great. The salsas are top notch. I can't speak for the rest of the menu, but my kids and I love those steak burritos!

    (4)
  • Aldo K.

5 stars for the food, zero stars for the service. The waitress acted weird and was not friendly at all. I am a very patient guy and can deal with crappy service, however, this waitress was acting weird borderline rude. What i hated the most was having to leave a hefty tip for someone who just brought our food to us, and did not do anything ti make my party feel welcomed. Next time, i will carry out.

Really good steak tacos at lunch. Dined in. Fresh chips and salsa. Warning: red and green salsa both pack heat!

Came here today for the first time. I have never been to zacatacos in my life .... as soon as you go in you get a headache from the very loud music! ! We ordered to go so we waited the usual time. We live close by and the food was cold. The burrito we ordered was very cold and the meat were cut in huge chunks not small pieces. He could not even finish it. We have been to other places that are a far distance and our food is always hot. As for me I ordered a taco salad because i have never been to this place and I had my doubts. Soooo we will not be returning to this restaurant.

    (1)
  • Steve W.

Wish I could give them zero stars. We've given them tons of chances and it never gets better, no more.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization.
