This restaurant is attached to a bowling alley, a classic my eyes. My go to place for gyros. A typical Greek restaurant that serves good food at inexpensive prices. If you are cold stand by the register and the heat from the gyro machine will keep you warm. Have some food and bowl a few games.

PJ's Drive-In is a small eatery attached to a bowling alley in Bridgeview on Harlem avenue. When you walk in there's a few tables to sit at, an ordering board and a simple counter to place your order. Upon stopping into PJ's I decided to try the hot dog and fries. The hot dog I received came on a soft and regular poppy seed bun. The pickle was cut fairly thin, the tomato was well sliced and not too watery. There were several sport peppers that were neither too hot, nor were they too mild. The mustard was applied a little sparsely, as was the relish. The onion was well applied to this dog. I did not notice any celery salt on it. As far as the sausage itself, it was skinless and well heated. It had a nice flavor and texture. It also came with fries, these were crinkle cut fries. The crinkle cut fries were mostly well fried up with potato paste on the inside and a crisp outside, but a few were over-crispy to a point where they were closer to a potato chip with a crunch than a french fry. Overall this was solid greasy spoon type food. It was an average range hot dog with average fries. I'd stop here again if I were hungry and in the area. As this was an average hot dog joint, I'll rate it three stars.

We used to get take-out from this place 20+ years ago, when it was at the old location, down the block. They now moved and are connected to the bowling alley. Same owner, behind the counter - nice to see! I remembered this place having the best gyros. Figured I'd deal with the heartburn after the fact! We got the gyro plate dinner and chicken kabob dinner - extra sauce for both. The gyro place came with 2 pitas, a ton of meat, 3 sauces, onion and tomatoes, and a ton of fries. Huge portion for under $8. It was as good as I remembered. They have the best pitas and gyro sauce. 5-stars! The chicken kabob plate was not very good. The chicken was charred, but completely dried out. Inedible. It came with pita, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and sauce. Again, huge portion for under $8. Just too overcooked. The place is clean, a huge menu of every type of sandwich, subs, gyros, burgers, fries. Get the gyro if you go!

I learned about PJ's because a co-worker was always going down the street for lunch. I joined her one day because she raved about their gyro sandwiches. These are quality, filling, and delicious. The gyro sandwich is always well-seasoned and juicy, not dry. They'll even make your gyro meat extra crispy if asked. Their hotdogs are great. Chicago-style, not loaded down with crappy ingredients. I like their fries. Depending on the time of day you go you might get a few that are overly fried and crisp. I like their crinkle cut fries and I've always found them to be done well. It's not fancy. Get in, get out. There are a few tables to sit and eat if you want to stay, but it's a typical greasy spoon for the neighborhood. Great place to grab a bite late night.

This is the SECOND best gyro. I love this place. Its a heart attack waiting to happen, thats for sure. Try the Feta Cheese, They give a nice thick slice, as oppossed to small squares. The way I like a Gyro is thick sliced with sauce only and soft and salty fries. I get enough meat to pick at it, and gyro sauce to dip my fries in. I havent had much else. I usually go to a place for ONE thing, and dont try too much else, for fear of dissappointment. The guy always recognizes me as well and smiles and says hi, That right there sometimes compensates for a lot. That smile and someone going 'out of their way to acknowledge you" This place gets a 5 star for their gyro plate!!! Im actually at a toss up, with Toms, in Lyons and this place. This place has better fries and better feta cheese......
