I've been eating here for years. Best Wonton Soup ever!!!! That being said, I don't know what they other reviewer is talking about, the food is definitely not greasy. That being said I never order deep fried food with the exception of their egg rolls, which are crispy and delicious. NOT GREASY. The fried rice is the best around. You will NOT find peas and carrots here. Instead, you will find egg, scallions, and bean sprouts. You can make a meal out of the fried rice and wonton soup alone! The atmosphere is a little dark, and the building is definitely outdated. However, the food is always cooked fresh and served hot with great portions. And you pay for the quality of the food. Come here for great authentic Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) to eat casually with friends and family. I would not recommend for a special occasion or business meal.

This was my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area for 10+ years when Mary owned the restaurant. New owners took over and the quality of the food is no longer the same. I used to love the Beef Chop Suey & Curry Chicken at this restaurant. It was my favorite but now the quality of the beef & chicken has fallen. The meat doesn't taste real nor fresh. This isn't based on one experience. I've tried the restaurant three times since the new owners have taken over and haven't seen any change in the quality of the meat being used in the two dished listed above. Try Chen's Chinese Cuisine in Tinley Park or Rising Sun in New Lenox or Mokena, IL. Out of the three I am most satisfied with the quality of the food as well as the lower prices at Chen's in Tinley Park.

This place is great. Superb egg rolls and the best hot and sour soup ever. Generous portions. Atmosphere could be better.

If it was possible to put negative stars, I would. WOW! This place was the absolute pits! It has been around for quite some time in the area, so one would thing that there would be some redeeming quality. I have to say that the server might have been the nicest part of the whole experience. The atmosphere is crappy, diner-style chinese. Even though I can get over the decor if the food is quality, that definitely was not the case here. From the outdated interior, to the generic red t-shirts worn by the staff, this place screamed dive! The food was horrendous! We ordered the appetizer for two plate, of which, the 'beef' was breaded and covered in teriyaki glaze (more like oil spill), the crab wontons were edible, but the 'pork' ribs were unrecognizable. ON TO THE MAIN COURSE! My party of 4 ordered: General Tao's Chicken Sweet and Sour Chicken Sweet and Sour Pork 2 Glasses of Soda 1 Order of Hot Tea 1 Glass of juice The food was over-fried with grease incrusted in each bite. The soy sauce on the table was thick, but represented in the Kikoman's little container (I have never seen soy sauce that was glaze-like). Terrible. If all of that wasn't enough... The bill.... $68.52 !!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? For crap that makes Panda Express look like fine dining? How can people honestly serve this to other humans, I wouldn't feed my dog this food. Completely embarrassing!

We've been China Chef customers for many years. The food is always fresh and delicious. It may be a Chinese place, but don't miss the Margarita! Everything is cooked to order and arrives hot and tasty! My favorites are the garlic chicken and the 8 delicious Chicken. We also like the curry dishes. Family restaurant ....may not be fancy but it's a great place for great Chinese food!

The only legitimate sit down Chinese place in the area. Pricey. Pretty good food; not great, not awful either, but I think it should be better for the cost. Beware, if you have allergies, that the egg rolls have shrimp in them. Closed on Sunday? Ouch.

I ABSOLUTELY love China Chef! The Mongolian Beef is amazing and I get it every time I go. I am not very experienced in legit Chinese food; HOWEVER, China Chef is the most legit Chinese food that I have had the pleasure of having. The food is a little pricey however if you go during lunch time you will definitely get your money's worth.

Best chinese food in the area. A little pricey by kankakee standards ($30-40 for two entrees with egg rolls and soup), but much better than the local buffets.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
