New waitress's afraid to come to your table when confronted about no corn beef hash, she said its mixed with the potatoes. Should of mention this before because the price they charge for a spoonful of Corn beef hash is sad! Usually had good food and service in past but very disappointed. Sad that customer service doesn't mean anything anymore.

Expensive menu. I went for breakfast. Ordered a mushroom omlette. This was the first place I have been that charges extra for cheese in an omlette. I had coffee, omlette which came with toast or pancake and hash browns. Total bill 11.55. For the atmosphere of this little local eatery, the meal should be priced lower. 9.00 range. There are many other restaurants in the area that I will try.

Well, we read the yelp in the parking lot and it sounded promising so in we went. We were also seeking a place that wasn't too noisy and not a corporate breakfast. The waitress was nice and when the cream I put in my coffee came up in chunks-she replaced it cheerfully. My companion ordered a short stack. Nothing short about these two gigantic pancakes drooping over the edge of his plate. I had a Denver Omelet-it had a strange taste-kinda like something they'd cleaned the grill with. I think it wasn't especially cheap considering it wasn't especially good. Bummer.

Great food for a great price. The most diverse clientele. So you know it's good when a lot of different ppl can find something that they like here. 4 because the waitress made an oops, but then fixed it quickly.

Not a bad place at all! Food selections are pretty good and the service (the times I have been there) has been extremley good! Something about the fountain drinks seems good, too. The coke at this place seemed to taste better than at most other restaurants. Maybe it was all in my head or maybe there is just something a bit better about the drinks here. Pancakes are also HUGE, you will barely be able to finish all 3 of them. My only complaint would be there seem to be no tables at this place, it is all booths. There may be a counter with some individual seats up by the kitchen, but I didn't make my way up there. The booths seemed a bit small and cramped. 4 out of 5 stars thus far. This place has also been here probably over 30+ years..!

Great Waffles. The cheese on the eggs is just a slice of cheap American that wasn't good. If they upped to shredded cheddar it would be five stars.

Berkeley is a minute village that if driving too quickly, can easily be pasted by without noticing it. There's not really a whole lot to do here, but without a doubt, there's a little gem hiding on the corner of Saint Charles and Wolf! By nature, I am more of a lunch and dinner eater than a breakfast guy. Nonetheless, while I as working in Hillside, another manager suggested that we break free from the phones and computers to mosey out to his favorite hangout in the area. I had been driving by this place for about a year, but had never stopped inside. There's a decent parking lot that even has some mature trees for parking in the shade on a hot summer day (which it was when we visited). We sat down at a booth around 2pm after being greeted promptly. The ambiance looks just like every other breakfast/brunch/lunch house you've ever walked into in America. Thankfully, there's good enough reason to overlook the decor. I had a three "S" special, comprised of a BLT sandwich, a Cesar salad and a bean soup. All three of them were very fresh and served quickly, even though the place had a sizable lunch crowd. My friend ordered eggs which he loved as well. Combined with the excellent food, what really impressed me about JK's is that the owner Mike is almost always around. He'll stop by all of the patrons tables for just a moment and ask how things are. If you wish to shoot the breeze with him, he's very personable, but if you were in the middle of a conversation with your other table mate, he knows when to leave you alone. It may seem like a small touch, but with service being so much more "miss" than "hit" in many places these days, it was a welcome breathe of fresh air. Mike also has two daughters that work at JK's, and if you have some time, he's passionate about telling you the family history of how two brothers started the place years ago. After going there the first time, JK's became a regular place for us to visit while we worked in Hillside. Eventually both my co-manager and myself were transplanted to different locations, but we fond memories of enjoying a peaceful and tasty lunch at this low-key eatery.

Definitely one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. It was cheap, dirty, and rude. The two waitresses in the place didn't need any help being rude and bitchy but it seems the manager/owner thought he should help by putting the tension between them all out in the open for the hole restaurant to feel and hear. This negative attitude wasn't cute, in a Carla from Cheers way either. They genuinely were miserable people. All this adjective and I haven't even gotten to the fact that the food was awful. You are a breakfast place, how do you burn both the omelet and pancake on the same order? Unbelievable. Change is absolutely needed in this place if it is to survive!

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. The bigger chains like IHOP and Denny's (many are franchised) have lost their personal touch and all use the same bland recipes. I am always searching for a great diner that serves breakfast all day long. JK's dinner is a diner in Berkley that has not lost its personal touch. Everything is made fresh, is seasoned well and the portions are more than generous. I usually order take out on Saturday mornings for my family and always need a nap after breakfast. It is that good and satisfying. I am very happy we found this great diner in our neighborhood and happily recommend it.
