We have been here about half a dozen times, each time, the staff was not what I would say friendly, but not rude either. I always get the ribs and they are delicious, my husband gets the Greek chicken dish and he says it is great as well. The sit down area is basic, nothing fancy for sure. The reason only 3 stars the staff could be a little bit more personable for the people there spending their hard earned money, it takes nothing to smile and say hi and makes a huge difference. We have only ate there 2 times other times we had take out.

This is the place to get your Chicago-style classics. They have a great baked chicken dish with potato wedges. The chili is also pretty good. You can't go wrong with a hot dog and fries. Their gyro is VERY good! Pricing is average. Good parking. There's a few tables outside, but plenty of indoor seating.

The food is good , The place is clean. .The only downfall is the girl at the register.,very rude, no manners.makes me not want to go back.. Im not sure where the owners are, but I know they would be upset if they knew how she treats her customers. .. I would give it 5 stars if she wasnt there..

Jim & Tom's is a fairly large diner located off of Irving Park Road in Bensenville. Having visited here once before a few years ago and having tried a cheeseburger with decent results. I decided in passing by Jim & Tom's once again that it would be a wise decision to stop by and review the hot dog here. Before going on and reviewing the hot dog I'll give you a quick description of the place itself. The first thing to note is the parking lot, the parking lot is angled strangely making it difficult to pull out of your spot in straight manner. The inside of the restaurant is clean and it almost seems like it was either originally a house at some point, or had an addition put on to add more seating. As far as the food itself I stopped in and tried the hot dog with everything. The hot dog I received came on a regular non-poppy seed bun. The sausage itself was of the natural casing variety and had a very nice flavor and snap to it. Unfortunately, the rest of the hot dog didn't fare as well. There was a huge pickle slice nearly as wide as the hot dog itself. The tomato slices were a little on the sloppy side and not super appetizing. There was way too much mustard and relish applied to this hot dog as well. The onions were applied well,I noticed no sign of celery salt and the sport peppers were fine. The final kiss of death on this hot dog was a dry and hard bun. The corners and edges of the bun were crumbling as I picked it up. Overall this was a very sloppily made hot dog. Besides the generally superior to most places natural casing wiener, nothing about this hot dog was exceptional and there were a lot of flaws. The giant pickle and hard bun brought this from a below average dog to an inexcusable one star hot dog. While far from the worst hot dog I've ever encountered, I'd definitely recommend avoiding the hot dog here at Jim & Tom's.

The food wasn't bad but the attitude of the owner on the phone and in person was enough to not have me going back. I work hard to enjoy my money and getting an attitude for giving her too many orders with credit cards is ridiculous. Its the same as all 5 of us calling in separate with Credit cards for delivery or making one call with 5 orders. either way she is getting the money. I was completely turned off by her attitude in person as well, Like we were putting her out for having to take our money.. Sorry I can spend my money else where!!

I decided to try Jim and Tom's based on Yelp reviews. I work in Bensenville and I go out to lunch every day, so I am always looking for new places. Located on the north side of Irving Park Rd., it was easy to find. The spots in the parking lot are at odd angles, but I managed to navigate into one. The interior is classic burger joint. A little old looking, a little cheap looking, but basically clean. You order at counter and get a number and then stand around trying to stay out of the way of others as you wait for the food. Despite the fact that I was given a number, they don't seem to call out numbers. They just call out the order with a heavy accent. I had to pay close attention to make sure I didn't miss mine. Eventually my Jim (or Tom...I don't remember which) burger was ready and I took it over to the seating area. There is ample seating, but it very utilitarian as you would expect in a place like this. I don't have a problem with that, I am just giving the full tour. I like to drink water with my lunch and I was given a Styrofoam cup to be filled at the pop dispenser. I hate Styrofoam. I hate the way it affects the taste of my drinks and I hate the way it cannot be recycled even though I only use it for 15 minutes. The water tasted funny, but I don't think it was the cup. The stars start melting off at this point. They do provide real metal utensils. This is a welcome surprise. As you may have guessed, I also hate eating with plastic utensils. So I settle in to enjoy my burger. It was OK. A little on the thin side. Some anemic lettuce and tomato were provided. The fries were of the crinkle cut variety with no special character or flavor. I don't remember what I paid exactly, but I think it was close to 8 dollars. I was not delighted with my experience. I like old fashioned burger and dog joints, but they have to be cheap or great. Pricey and mediocre does not cut it. I cannot help but compare this place to Jameson's where I often go. For about 3 dollars more I can get a much better burger, delicious soup and table service. I won't be back to Jim and Tom's.

Solid fast-food option if you happen to be stuck in Bensenville. The menu seems very similar to Portillo's, with hot dogs, burgers, gyros, soup, salads, etc. We picked a friend up at O'Hare and stopped here on our way back; everything is clean and the people were friendly. Prices are pretty typical for a fast food place like this. I got chicken noodle soup and a hot dog (no relish); the soup was decent, hot and comforting but nothing astonishing. The hot dog was red-hot style, a bit thinner, with lots of tomato, a big fat pickle and plenty of onion. Good flavor but not my favorite. I snagged a few fries from the husband, and they were solid, crinkle-cut and double-fried. Our friend got a sausage-beef sandwich that was enormous and messy, and he liked it very much.

I don't recommend this place to anyone! Recently ordered a chicken caesar salad and a blt for delivery, salad was drenched in watery dressing and leaked through the whole bag even soaked the sandwich. Tried to send it back for a new order since we're literally the block over from them and THE MANAGER was so snooty and rude so I decided to cancel my order all together. She then told me I was " playing games", she wouldn't reverse the charge and hung up on me. I'm glad my bank was able to dispute the charge otherwise this restaurant would have took my money!

I am more downtown girl, but seriously I come to this place at least once a week to get a gyros plate or to get beef for my hubby when I have no time to cook. Best gyros!!!

This is the usual haunt for our 40-minute mad dash lunch break in Bensenville. The food is always good, the service is decent, the place is clean and quick, and there is typically a place to sit and park. I have tried most of the soups and the chili and they are all awesome. I also really like the grilled cheese (sometimes I get it with bacon and tomato...they will even humor the "crispy bacon only" assholes like my friends) and fries, the burgers, and the pitas (chicken, that is, not human). I think the only things I have tried that really didn't go over well were the salad and the beef. They were simply "okay". Overall, this is a quick, quality diner-type joint in the 'burbs.

Fabulous. Clean, well priced, great food and great service. If my biggest complaint is that the parking lot is a bit of a clusterbunk, then I would say the restaurant is doing just fine. I had a great beef sandwich with some really good fries. Same crinklies as a lot of places but the oil wasn't nasty and old and horrible. They got it going right here in Bensenville and I recommend putting it into your regular lunch rotation!

I dropped in on Jim and Tom's today for lunch. This place was a regular haunt in the early 90's. The "cheeseburger" special was our collective fav at the time (2 fully loaded cheeseburgers, fries, drink for $5). The place has quite obviously been updated since the last time I was there. Parking is still like a mad cross between Tetris and a Rubik's cube. I figured I'd order a 1/4lb cheeseburger and fries to reminisce a bit. The girl at the register got the order wrong after I checked while making it.. "1/4 lb, right?" "uh, yeah.." Now she did ask if I wanted it medium-well or well-done.. so, kudos to a fast food joint for offering at least that choice if not medium rare.. I picked up my bag and headed outside. Sure enough, I ended up with a 1/2lb cheeseburger with the works. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to put away a 1/2 lb of anything. I just wanted to keep the damage manageable if this ended up giving me ptomaine or worse. I unwrapped the beast and tore into it with every intention of leaving 1/2 of it in the bag. Much to my surprise, the burger was, dare I say, excellent. Better than I remember, even. While it was definitely medium well, it was still juicy, tender and very flavorful. The toppings and condiments were very fresh and the bun was just right as well. I can honestly say I'd go out of my way to have another 1/2lb cheeseburger at Jim and Tom's. Better than McDonald's, Burger King or Wendy's. I'll even go out on a limb and say that I think I preferred it to the local influx of 5Guys. And I like 5Guys. Way to go Jim and Tom's! Great memories, even better burgers..

Jim & Toms is not half bad. The menu includes all the junk food that a growing boy needs. It's your typical hot dog stand menu, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Gyro's and a wide variety of sides. In the Bensenville area, your options for lunch are quite limited, so the food at Jim and Toms is greatly appreciated by our office.

I went here on lunch during the week and I ordered an Italian beef. It was good, but too small. I asked them to dip it and it wasn't dipped, the sweet peppers added weren't enough, and I didn't get the fries because they were the frozen ones. I love fresh cut fries.

There are certainly no shortage of hot dog stands around town, that's for sure, but it's always nice to find another local place that manages to just keep its head above the rest. All-in-all, just solid Chicago style food. The hot dogs were particularly tasty and nice juicy little frank. The fries were interesting because it seems like hot dog stand fries come in two types, hand-cut and out of a bag crinkle-cut. These seemed to be somewhere in the middle. They were crinkle cut, but nice and brown without that recently frozen taste. It's not the most spectacular place ever, but it's one of the better choices around. If you're in the vicinity of the airport and need a cheap, tasty meal, it's a solid choice.

I'm from old Bensenville, a time where you could go here and cash a check, get a few pitchers of beer, a pizza puff and a gyros. That being said, I could never in good faith ever give this place more than 3 stars based on what it has become. Back in the 80's this place was the measuring stick for me on what a fast food joint should be, hell I didn't know any better. Over the years this place has gone through multiple changes and even locations. I heard all kinds of stories like the owners got into a fight or the health department shut them down, etc. Who cares. When the dust settled we are left with what this place is today. A run of the mill, Kronos gyros and sauce supplied gyros stand. Everything is supplied by companies and you could get the exact same menu item a stones throw away. Back when this place had grit and character, you could see the 4-5 cooks in the back making sauce, ensuring that you gyros was well done, and grilling onions. Back then the owner would give you free fries if you ordered over $15 and they would always know your name and make it a point to personalize the experience. Now it's fast, fast, fast, no quality. Now a days at Jim and Tom's a lady at the counter is texting on her cell phone and won't even make eye contact when you complete your transaction. Bensenville remembers what this place was, now a days it's a different place.

Being a vegetarian I enjoy going to Jim and Tom's A. Because they are close to my house and B. they have a pretty diverse meatless menu, especially compared to most restaurants. The best part is there meatless menu is on the healthier side. My boyfriend has tried their burgers, gyros, and pattymelt, all of which he has enjoyed. The only caution I would advise when going here is to make sure you check your order if you are getting it to go. I have been here three times in the past few weeks and twice they have messed up my order. One of which I didnt realize until I got home. Thank God I live close. Last summer I had to go back 3x before they got my order right. I ordered there caesar salad pita w/out chicken and they kept putting chicken on it, being a vegerian this was not ok. All in all the food here is good and their menu has a large selection. Just make sure you check your order bc chances are they will get it wrong on the first try!

This place is the best kind of fast food joint , all the regular fast food type eats are standard and pretty good (burgers, hot dogs, chili dogs, gyros, etc.) . What makes this place go above the norm is their diverse menu. I like their Greek chicken , kabobs, chicken wings, steak tacos and burritos. Everything comes fast , fresh made and delicious.
