The Best Italian Beef ANYWHERE!!!! I've driven from Aurora just to get their beef. My son says when I eat their beef sandwiches I look like the cookie monster when he eats cookies! Even though I like Portillos and Johnnies they don't hold candle to Mickey's!! Tell them to put a little juice on it and enjoy!

So I'm not a big fan of the Italian beef. actually I'll give the beef (2/5) I left this place alone for about 8 years as this seems to be a local favorite and I just wasn't able to figure out why. After trying it again it's still not good.to me. However I have started eating their hot dogs and polishes... (I like the Mike Ditka/large polish most) I keep forgetting to try their pizza puffs (everyone on Mannheim road makes pizza puffs even the subway down the street...left hand on the bible) No place to sit. get your food and get out lol...well you can eat at the counters that goes along the window. Micky'susually stay open to midnight and 1am on friday and saturday

We stumbled upon this while on the way home from a day in downtown Chicago.....how lucky we were! First, the prices are good. We got the 2 hotdogs, fries, and drink special for $5.90. We also got a pizza puff. The hotdogs are perfect Chicago Style hotdogs. It's not only the right toppings, beef hotdogs, and poppy seed buns; but this place PREPARES them perfectly. The toppings are super fresh, the buns are high quality and steamed to perfection (no hard or soggy buns here), and the hotdogs are perfectly juicy and warm. The fries taste great, not too greasy. The pizza puff was good, but those are hard to mess up. The place is small, but very clean inside. There aren't any tables, just standing space around the walls. We will definitely visit Mickey's again when we're in the area.

It;s the beginning of a new year and nothing makes me happier than trying out new hot dog joints. And boy, this place does NOT disappoint. I got a polish and it was one of the best polishes I've had in a long time. Right off the Illinois Prairie Trail, this is a go to for a meal in between long hours of exercising.

Horrible service! Good luck placing a order with the ignorant customers and lack of organization in this place. Who ever yells the loudest gets there order in. Give me a break. As a long time customer I'm done.

What a joy to find myself working in Rosemont yesterday - close enough for lunch at Mickey's! It's been 20 years since I first discovered the best beef sandwich in Chicago, and since Chicago has the best Italian Beef in the world... During lunch back then the counter at the window was always full of guys with their ties flipped back over their shoulders - the beef was that juicy! Like most of the Yelpers below I used to get my beef to go knowing I'd be home in 20 minutes, eat and regroup for afternoon calls. Now the drive home is about 4 hours so I bellied up to the counter, sans tie these days, and satisfied the craving that I've been harboring for my 15 years in exile. Hey, there's only one way to order beef - hot & dipped! If you want cheese on your beef go to Peoria! Or better yet come to Indiana where an Italian Beef doesn't even exist. As a bonus, the guy behind the counter puts Tom Cruise to shame with the soft drink cup acrobatics! Thanks Mobile Yelp for getting me there on the fly...

As the second member of the Bellwood Boys Club (right next door, but now it's a boys & girls club), we would hunt for bottles on the rr tracks for the two cent deposit, & only 5 bottles would get you an order of fries. Boy were they good fries. In the week after getting paid for the paper routes, we had enough for a large order (.25) & had enough to share. The dogs & polish are very good, the service is prompt, & it's worth a stop if you're going down Mannheim Rd.

Ahh, Mickey's. As a hot dog lover, I can always count on Mickey's for a good old Chicago Style Hot Dog and fries. I've always sort of used it as a standard to test against other hot dog places, but I'm attached to Mickey's. They're open reasonably late and the service is quick. It's no frills and it can get crowded, but if you're just dying for a hot dog, it might be worth it.

Perfect Chicago style hot dogs. Chili dogs are really good and tasty also! For the hot dog special they give you fries with each dog, although the fries are always perfect, who the hell can eat all of those fries?! Cheap prices, dont get a tom tom tamale unless you want your tum tum mad at the tom tom...and you.

WARNING: This review is not objective! There's way too much history between me and this neighborhood to be objective. So get over it. First things first. This is still one of the best places to get a CHICAGO STYLE HOT DOG and fries - at least in the Western 'burbs. It's all done right here... Thick-skinned boiled dog, fresh chopped onions, cold dill pickle, juicy sweet relish, steamed buns, tasty sport peppers and thin long fries wrapped right in the paper with the dog. And they've been doing it this way for at least 35 years... Almost nothing's changed -- hell, they still sell RC Cola! So, what's changed? The 'hood, man! When I lived in Bellwood, it was about 95% white and the other 5% was "everything else". Today, my quick blast through the streets of the past leads me to believe it's 95% African-American and 5% "everything else". I'm not saying that's bad for the neighborhood -- everything's got to change, right? But it's definitely bad for classic Chicago Style Hot Dogs. Here's where I start to tear up. While I was there.... sniff-sniff... er, a brother came in and, oh don't make me say it! Dammit! HE ORDERED A HOT DOG WITH KETCHUP (oh the humanity!) AND I SWEAR TO GOD -- MELTED CHEESE SAUCE ON IT! I was so sure I wouldn't be able to hold it in, I grabbed my greasy bag and my styrofoam cup of Diet Rite and flew out the door. In my car I soothed my soul with the sweet taste of decades of dogs, soon putting the whole thing out of my mind. Don't let me scare you away. Mickey's (here or in Villa Park) is still the real deal, and whether you get 'em to go or dine in while watching the trucks blow by on Mannheim Road, it's a short trip to a tasty past every time!

Ravanous and craving a dog I decided to swing into Mickey's! Now the place isnt much to look at as it is a small stand up counter to order and counter space around the window to eat. But for pick up it is AWESOME and fast! I ordered a Hot dog and a Polish No fries with all the trimmings!(thats how the Shake & bakes rolls)......as good as any other Hot dog joint in the CHicagoland metropolitan area! My little Mexican compadre behind the counter suggested I get the Polish Deep fried!!!!! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! HA!!! For a good dog go here!!!! shake & bake seal of approval!!! Hipster infestation Level:0 ZERO Hipsters you wont sea a single pair of skinny jeans in these parts for miles!!!!!!

The best hot dogs period. Good sloppy joes, excellent gravy bed and beef/italian sausage sandwiches. You don't have to say much, some of the best fast food around - CHEAP!

Being an Italian Beef connoisseur this place rocks!! Excellent Italian Beef's with hot peppers of course. Nice hot salty fries! They also have great Chicago Style Hot Dogs and Polishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Delish!!!

I don't have the attachment to this place as the locals. But I have been here quite a few times. The double dog special is a great value as it comes with fries and a pop. The wet beef is very tasty and is lightly spicy. The fries are my biggest concern when I go to a dog and fry. These didn't excite. They were blanched so the grease was a little stale tasting. I expect my grease to be fresh damit! No seats, crapper or actual drive-in. This is a dive with some pretty good grub. Great place to come after the bars.

Never been to the Chicago area, and I happened to park my semi across the street for the night. I saw the retro blinking lights and stopped on by. I bought a Italian beef with hot peppers and was influenced to get it dipped. I also hot some cheese fries because that sounded way too good to pass up. I didn't know what to expect with the beef sandwich and was blown away by the taste and size. Delicious and different than other beef sandwiches I've had. The cheese fries were pretty good, but the cheese was basically a slightly better version of nacho cheese which was a little dissapointing. But I will return if I get the chance. Italian beef is the way to go!

Hard to imagine a better tasting Italian beef that can beat Portillos, but Mickey's delivered in the clutch. Get it with cheese, it blew my mind! Great hole in the wall joint...will be back again!

Had a taste for a beef from somewhere other than Bueno Beef. After reading the reviews, I thought I would give them a chance. Afterall everybody's taste is different, right? Well I was the only one waiting to order as I walked in, some other guy was sitting eating his pizza slice at a table. The place was empty at 2:15 in the afternoon. The lady behind the counter was less than friendly and didn't warm up at all. I ordered a beef with gardinera. A little over 5 bucks not bad these days price wise. The guy brought just a beef up to the counter said beef! I asked him for the peppers I order he gave them to me but no thank you or any smile ( just like the lady I ordered from no smile or gratuitous behavoir. I was expected to shop in her restaurant! ! Beef was bland but decent size. I WON'T BE BACK!!

When I have a taste for a pizza puff, I would come here. They have the best pizza puffs and fries. Their hot dogs are decent too. Haven't tried their Italian beef yet. They're open when everybody else is closed. I love their food, but they flirt too much! They need to stop it for real. I don't come here to get hit on. It's really awkward. If it wasn't for the flirting, I would give them 5 stars.

Great hot dogs , beefs ,and Italian sausages .A true chicago hot dog is what you will find here , I've been going to this establishment for over 20 years ! Altough it is great there is the occasional inappropriate and rude service . The inappropiate service sometimes makes me want to turn around but the always makes me walk in . It's definitely worth a try .They accept credit cards and cash .

Been coming here for years. This is my spot when I got a taste for a good beef or hotdog. My wife and I just had beef sandwiches this past Sunday. As expected, never ceases to satisfy my taste buds.

First timer. Saw review on Yelp and thought we would give it a try. Awesome Italian beef! Hot dogs were average. Service was great. The co-owner was working behind the counter and he was really great, very charismatic. Would totally go back again!!

i've lived in maywood, bellwood, broadview, elmhurst all of my life. i now have retired to mesa, az, along with thongs of people from the chicao suburbs. no one knows how to make a dog like mickey's. have you ever considered shipping the dogs and condiments to arizona? i know people out here would gladly pay the pri.ce. i certainly would be a hero with my family.

Been around since the 50's making Chicago style hot dogs. Love the poppy seed buns. Good beef too. Definitely get it dipped. Not much to look at but good food. I passed by the other day and had to stop. Always the same. Try Superdawg up on the northside also but fancier and more expensive.

I came from Florida to visit my sister. We grew up in Bellwood and spent a lot of time at Mickey's. Mickey's opened 54 years ago; the year we moved to Bellwood and it's just as good as it was then. I can't wait to visit again next year!!! It was a wonderful blast from the past!!! Just as good as I remembered.

This has been around since the 50's making good Chicago style hot dogs. Its really not much to look at in its decor and color but they sure got some good dogs. Hot Dogs - always taste fresh, poppy seed buns is a must. Polish - Really good, Vienna baby. Pizza Puff - lightly crispy, golden brown. Beef's - Great taste, with peppers please! Sloppy Joes: taste ok, they add a bbq sauce in the mix.. could be good or bad. Il have to try it with cheese and mustard. Cheese fries - for some reason the cheese taste different here, its almost more milky or thicker.. taste really good. This is a good drive-by place off of 290 that really has some good Dogs. They close at 12am, and you will find that you don't really wait too long for your food. They have counters to eat your food on if you want to eat it quick inside... no chairs.

I've been eating here since I was a kid and everything has been completely consistent over that time. I don't think I've ever had a bad experience here, they move fast, everything is hot and well prepared. I don't think they've ever gotten an order wrong or forgot anything. It's not a dine-in type place really although they do have some standing room but I hope this place never goes away

  • Rebecca R.

Been going to Mickey's since 1990 and my father since the 60's when he was a kid (he loves their beef sandwiches!). I cannot think of too many better meals than two chicago dogs with steamed poppy seed buns and fries in a brown paper sack... SO, SO GOOD!!!! Now I'm getting hungry... Anyway, if you find yourself in Bellwood, Mickey's Drive-In is a must try. Eat it and smile!

The italian beef is the best! I grew up in the neighborhood and know that this place is a must have if you're in the area. They've got dogs, burgers, Italian sausage, and more but nothing beats the beef!

  • Michael Z.

Who's next??? Best beefs around. Fries are good too. I don't get pop here though as I think the water or ice tastes funny. Hot dogs are good but my main order is beef or sloppy joes.

  • R C.

Great Dogs! This place is simple and traditional; no chairs and no flair. They clearly put their effort into the food and thats the way it should be. Best dogs in all of Chicago (outstanding prices as well).

  • Alex G.

Whenever I'm back in the old neighborhood, I try to stop by Mickey's. Too many memories to not return for a Mickey's dog. They no longer fresh cut their fries so they are pretty ordinary. But the dog never disappoints. Only a stand up counter so be sure you know the proper Chicago stance. But the RC cola has got to go. Probably the worst imitation of cola I've ever had (it was bad by RC standards). Of course considering that every Mickey's location serves RC and always has, I don't hold out much hope for a worthy replacement.

How have I not reviewed this place yet? I agree with the 2 previous rave reviews. Food: Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, they came out with the Mini Beef: a smaller Italian beef. Mmm. The best. We moved to Louisville, and I dream of that sandwich. My husband is a big fan of the double and the hot dogs. People: The guys that are there most often flip your drinks when they hand them to you (or the tongs, or the hot dogs...). Last night, they started doing a thing among themselves where they shook the paper bags open so loud it sounded like a gunshot. We all got a kick out of it. Also, May, 2009 is their 50th anniversary. Enjoy the specials and festivities!
