This Mexican restaurant is one of the best. The food is always hot & tasty. The sauce is a little on the hot side. So, be prepared.

I had this for lunch today. Service is good. It was very busy almost all tables were full by the time I was done. I had the taco dinner. Tried 3 different tacos. Cochinta Pibl.... Seasoned shredded pork with pickled onion. Yummy but spicy. The Tacos de Alambre.....Steak fajita flavored ( My Favorite) Tender and delicious. And last the Pollo(Chicken) Was good but as chicken tacos go good. Wish they had Tamales on the menu. I will be ordering here again.

This restaurant serves some of the most satisfying food I've ever consumed. Everything is super-fresh and flavorful at great prices (the taco dinner I'm getting ready to rave about was $7.95!) You really want to eat at Taqueria Muniz! Yesterday, I headed south on Lake Street with thoughts of a taco dinner dancing in my head. I walked in the door, was greeted by a couple of friendly employees, and sat myself down in one of their simple old-school restaurant booths. They brought out some very tasty chips and salsa for me to munch on while awaiting my taco-based feast. Their taco dinner consists of three tacos with rice and beans on the side. I got three different meats: chicken, shredded beef, and shredded pork. It's impossible to say witch one was the best: all three meats were delicious (and so was the side of rice and beans!) This is the kind of food you just keep eating long after you're totally full. Resist the urge to lick your plate clean... The Aurora area has many excellent options when it comes to Mexican food, but in my opinion, you'd have a hard time finding anything better than Taqueria Muniz!

It looks like a little hole in the wall, but don't let that fool you. It has some of the freshest and most delicious Mexican food I've had. The steak burrito and pastor (pork) tacos are my favorites, and Muñiz has never done me wrong when it comes to a fast, but satisfying meal.

I really like this restaurant. The food is good, and the service is also good. I have told many of my co-workers about this place and they order from here frequently as well now. I use to only go to Fajitas Mexican Restaurant in Lagrange for Mexican food. That was the only mexican restaurant that i trusted. I'm from romeoville and bolingbrook, and i haven't had a good experience with el burrito loco in bolingbrook and Ruby's burrito's in romeoville is even more racist towards black people. So if my mexican family members didn't cook dinner at they're house. I'll would just eat a salad or I'll go all the way to lagrange for Mexican food (i love mexican food) but i found this place, because it is close to my job and i like it. I feel comfortable here.

Best Mexican food!!! I have EVER tasted!! The steak anything is outstanding!!!! The steak is always perfectly cooked and seasoned. Large variety of choices. Steak torta is one of my favorites. All of the other entrees that I've tried have been very good also. Kid friendly menu also I take my kids with all the time. I have also used them for catering reasonable pricing and portions. Staff is always very helpful and happy. Owner and family are very involved , great to support local family establishments like this.

I have been to this restaurant multiple times and it exceeds expectations every time. I go for the tacos and have tried every meat offering; my favorite has to be the Tacos de Alambre. I ventured to try the chimichanga, the last time I was in, and it was delicious full of rice, beans, cheese and tons of meat with the lettuce, avocado, sour cream and more cheese sprinkled on top. It is not greasy at all and I have had that before with fried tortillas at other Mexican establishments. The salsa is usually spicy but today it was medium which is one tidbit that varies from visit to visit. The guacamole is a great starter and you can tell the owner takes pride in their ingredients because although I order it every time I come in, some times they will say they didn't get in quality avocados to use which is appreciated because when you do get the guac it is fresh and simply delicious! I would highly recommend stopping in for a bite!

I've been here a few times and I think its a great place to have a quick bite, or carry out. The steak tacos are great, meat has great flavor. The tacos are small but very good. I've also had steak sopes and they are also really good. The chips and salsa are average at best. The wait staff is friendly and atmosphere is ok not great!

Excellent food every single time. Taco dinner plates are reasonably priced and delicious. Love the chorizo!

Taqueria Muniz has opened a smaller location off Rt. 25. The old location of Tacos Maria's which was one of my favorite locations for Mexican food, breakfast, lunch or dinner. When I first arrived the atmosphere had changed completely. The outdoor patio was gone, the walls repainted, I was excited. But when we got inside although things got a big upgrade the staff was very confused about what bacon was. I used to order bacon egg and cheese tacos before. I understood they didn't have any so we tried steak egg and cheese tacos. Our waitress didnt even know what Orange Juice was and asked us if Orange Crush was a better option. The food was served and to our surprise there was hair in the food. The chips and salsa they served were partially burnt. The salsa was the only great feature to this small, depressing hole in the wall. Please give this place a little bit more time, the wait staff are very inexperienced, and the cook is very unprofessional. Wearing gloves and hair net out onto floor and touching register.

I used to live in downtown Aurora for 2 years so you better believe I've tried at least 10-15 different Mexican places! This one has my favorite tortas and tacos; they are always consistent and their guac is amazing as well.

Okay so I go here often and I will admit that the food is really good! the meat is very tasty I love it. The only reason why I'mm not giving 5 stars is because the portions have gotten smaller and keep getting smaller and prices keep going up. I had a torta, 5 tacos and 2 drinks my total was $22 plus tip. The owner has become more greedy I remember when his portions were at least normal. I noticed the bread for the torta is smaller. So the things that get me mad is the small portions and the high price. Also the restaurant can use some renovations, the restroom is just nasty there's some sort of wall paper peeling off. Before I forget, the salsa is cold and the chips are hard, you will be way better off going to a different restaurant that serves bigger portions and same quality meat.

Excellent food! Taco steak comes hot right off the grill, salsa is fresh, and service is on point. Its a tad pricier than other taco places, but worth the price.

I've been to dozens of hole-in-the-wall taquerias in Chicago over many years, and the menu and quality is always the same, so I was totally surprised to see some dishes on the menu here I'd never even heard of! I tried the Conchinita Pibil... oh man was it good, juicy pork with pink marinated onions and just the right level of spiciness. I don't go to Aurora much, but I'm definitely going to try to track that down in Chicago, I'm sure it's around. There was another dish, the name escapes me, but sort of like a sope, but soggier and bigger, with marinated beef. Good stuff. Only negative thing I can think of to say: I'd love to see places like this try something new with rice and beans, they were both good but nothing special. It's not fancy or anything, but the service was really great, and the prices were totally fair.

I went here tonight and this place is great!!!! We started off with chips and salsa, which was very good then we had guacamole that was made fresh and we added jalapenos and onions and it was absolutely incredible! I had the enchiladas and all I can say is WOW! So good! This place was cheap too so worth more than what I paid. I would definitely go back here it is so much better than other places I've been. Definitely give it a try.

Excellent family owned Taqueria. Warm homemade salsa and fresh chips to start things off. Good heat on the salsa which lingers until the food comes. Got the Conchita Pibil tacos, roasted pork and pickled onions, were great. The owner/cook, stopped by the table and gave me a free sample of the Al Pastor, saying that if I liked the Pibil, I should also try the Pastor. It was great also. Also had the Frijole Charro (bean soup). My wife had Tostadas with Chorizo and Carne Asada. She loved it. Pleasant staff and a nice homey location. I have been there twice and its my go to place for great Taqueria style eats.

Liked that they offered regional specialties that I haven't seen in that many taquerias. The conchinita pibil, was one of them, which is a type of shredded spiced pork that I got in some tacos and tried some cabeza tacos while there. Hate to say this, but I was let down by both. The conchinita pibil and cabeza meat texture were kinda soggy and lacked flavor. I did like the red onions what were with the conchinita pibil, which gave it a hot/sweet flavor. Also ordered a pork burrito, which was better than the tacos. Good combination of all the ingredients, solid! Jamaica (drink made with a hibiscus tea leaves) was pretty good as well. People there were really nice as well!

Good chips and salsa. The rest was average. I had tacos and my husband had enchiladas. We both thought the food was average.

Taqueria is a great family owned Mexican restaurant that I've frequented for the last 4 years. All salsa's are made fresh by the owner's wife and the quality of the ingrediants are very good. I recommend the steak dinner, tons of food and really high quality, well seasoned steak. Chips and salsa are addictive here and I usually find myself with a spread of 4 different types of salsa. 2 tacos and chips/salsa run about $6.00 since they recently started charging $1.50 for chips and salsa. Just a heads up, they are closed on Mondays.

Just ate at Taqueria Muniz last night with friends and had a great time. We started with guacamole which was delicious. I had the taco plate which comes with 3 tacos, rice and beans. The alambra (sp) taco was the best. The server recommended it to me and it beat the other two choices I made. The cochinita pibil was really good too but it had a few too many onions on it for me but if you love onions, you'll love it. We also had their version of a shrimp cocktail, it's like a soupy concoction with shrimp, avocado, tomatoes, etc. It was delicious. We will definitely be back. They don't serve alcohol so don't come expecting it. Give Muniz a try!

This is my absolute favorite place for tacos. Amazingly fresh ingredients and meat that is seasoned to perfection. I feel that the price is adequate for what you are getting in return. Staffed by mainly family members who are always friendly and give great service. Always very clean and you can see your food being prepared. Would definitely recommend.

I had to try since I read all the reviews but I wasn't floored like others on here have said. I had the torta de milanesa. Breaded steak sandwich. The bread was probably the freshest I've ever had. The steak was well seasoned. Unfortunately, the portion was small compared to other taquerias in town. Salsas were good but everyone in town seems to use the same recipe. Service was good. Our server was very nice. Place is actually bigger than it looks. I would go back if I was in the area.

Marinated steak has a very nice touch of lime. Anything with the Steak is good. Other food is okay. Great home made Salsas! Wish they had Nachos! Best in the area overall!

Stopped by for lunch and was satisfied with what I received. Had the taco dinner ($7.95) which was 3 tacos accompanied with rice and beans. Meat was tasty, slightly on the dry side and rice and beans were typical, but nothing special. Chips didn't seem to be made inn house , but salsa did. Also, two homemade hot sauce options on table (red & green). Tried one of the huaraches with the pastor...this was excellent. Service was great and food came quick. All in all I was happy and will be back. Definitely recommend the pastor, next time I will try a specialty dish.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! This place is down-home, family owned, authentic, FRESH Mexican food. You can get a beef head taco here! If that doesn't make you want to try it, then you don't get it To Mike B. who said the food is a little pricey: compared to what? This place is cheap. Maybe the best restaurant value I've ever seen. I think tacos are $1.50 each. You can easily eat here for $5, and eat like a king for $10-15. To JR M. who said he needed a suit and tie: I can only assume you were writing in jest. This place is as casual as any restaurant you will find. The only attire they require is shirt and shoes. Try it.

Excellent tacos & salsas (probably best in Aurora), family owned and operated, very authentic. Highly recommend.

Great steak tacos, tostadas, burritos, and chips/salsa! The food is a little pricey, but not too bad relative to the quality of food. The location is the only down side, as it's very difficult to find the place, and then get in and out of the parking lot. A wonderful family run business with other locations in the area.

I visited Taqueria Muniz for lunch the first time yesterday and it was definitely an enjoyable experience. The food is extremely authentic and fresh, and the chips and salsa are very good (although, unlike most Mexican restaurants, they charge $1.50 for the chips and salsa). The restaurant is very clean, and the staff is very polite and welcoming. Just keep your eyes peeled when trying to find this place because it doesn't stand out very easily from the street.

Great chips and hot sauce. Going beyond the steak the flavor drops dramatically. Friendly yes. Clean yes. Disappointed yes.

In 5 years, I have tried most of what's on the menu. You can't be disappointed here. All the food is fabulous, the service is always friendly and fast. Counter-style grill so you can see the cooks at work. Salsa and chips are off the hook! Guacamole is well seasoned with loads of fresh tomatos and cilantro. For a cheaper option, try a few tacos or a torta. Hungrier? Try one of the great dinners. All dinners under $15.00 even the shrimp. If you think the salsa is addictive, I'm gonna need a 12 step program to get me to quit the flame grilled beef.

I went in there with my homeboy Ray and they wouldn't let me in because I didn't have a suit and tie on! I mean that is bogus! What? I can't have tacos without a suit and tie on? We entually went to the thrift store and purchased a $3 suit and $.50 tie! The tacos were off the hook. YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
