Seems like the prior dinners got hometowned.I am very familiar with The Longbranch and never had a bad meal. I have relatives in the area. This is bar that serves homemade food. If your looking for Chicago level food and service, go to Chicago . Same goes for the weak attempt to be a food critic. Those who like. A good meal and cold beer will enjoy it. The rest can go elsewhere.
To start, I must say I'm a bit spoiled, being from the south side of Chicago with all the great variety of food choices we have. That being said, the beer at the Longbranch Saloon was cold and tasty. The bartenders seemed to know their jobs well and cared about the drinks they were serving. Cozy bar with nice decorations. I asked our server for a recommendation between a couple of entrees and was fairly disappointed in the quality of the food. There were a few members of our party who ordered the steaks and they looked good enough. The pasta was bland and their meat sauce tasted as though it was jarred sauce with some ground meat thrown in for texture. We had. Fairly large party and there were a fair number of people in the restaurant. The service was kind of slow and one of our guys didn't get his burger until everyone else was well into their meals. Not sure if I would return. There are fairly slim pickins for restaurants in this area, but I might travel the 15-20 miles to try out another venue in a neighboring town if out this way again.
The fried chicken is very good. However, the steaks are just terrible. I have never had such a tough steak. I would recommend sticking with the fried chicken, salads, and fried chicken gizzards. This is a welcoming place, but the bar being in the front of the restaurant is not a good choice for families who have children. The prices are high as well.
Been coming here for years ,really good pizza deals x large 3 topping $16.27 and u get a free small cheese. The pizza is pretty tasty. And they always have specials of the day.You get your money's worth.Nothing fancy ,a small town restuant with good food.
Not bad but they did mess up my order. They took off some cost for that. I'll be back.
I won't be going back. The food was OK. Nothing amazing but not bad. I ordered 3 cinnamon French toasts. She brought me out a plate that had 3 French toasts, 2 fried eggs, and 2 sausage links. I could understand if she made a mistake and thought I wanted an entire meal, but if that was the case, she never asked me how I wanted my eggs (I would have said poached) or if I wanted sausage or bacon (I would have said bacon). It's a small town so I was willing to let the outdated and sometimes tacky decor slide, but seeing my syrup come in a squeeze bottle was a bit much. Anyway, I'm kinda annoyed about it so I'd better stop writing or I'll just start nitpicking.
