Like any self respecting Chicagoan, I eat a ton of Mexican food. Like gross quantities a lot. With that on the table these tacos are a solid 8.5/10. I'd say better than just about anywhere though. Now the burrito? Best in chicago, best in my life. Best burrito in my life, let me be clear. Best in my life. Dine in, get it fresh and hot, be blown away.

My son loves the burritos here. Whenever we are in the area he requests we go for lunch. They are delicious. I always get steak which is very good. My son has had the beef, the chicken, and the chorizo, and he liked all of them, but thought the chorizo was a little too spicy, and couldn't finish the entire burrito. But these burritos are enormous! Whenever I get a burrito here I am done eating for the day. I have also gotten steak tacos, and chicken flautas, which were tasty as well. I don't recommend taking home flautas though, eat them there while they're fresh as they don't hold up well as leftovers. The platter has 4 flautas with rice, beans, lettuce, and tomatoes; if you eat the flautas and get full take home the sides and garnish? That's what I'd suggest. So everything we've ever had here is yummy, highly recommended.

Don't listen to the reviews that don't know a real Taco from Taco Bell. This place has excellent food and super hot excellent Salsa. Probably the best Salsa on the southside! They may be a little slow on preparing your food during a lunch rush but it is worth the wait! A+++++ in my book! It is in my Top 5 fav Mexican joints!

I thought from the reviews this place would've been really good, boy was I wrong I ordered a veggie burrito it was bland and stuffed with lettuce and sour cream and to top it off my tortilla was burned. My fiancé got a torta the meat tasted like it's been used over and and very overcooked. I Don't recommend this place

I was hoping for more. It was alright, not bad, just not outstanding. Very cliche rice and beans, chips and salsa were ok, people were very nice. I had the lamb taco, crane Asada taco and carnitas, all of them ok. Just didn't feel there was the long slow cook process with good spices and sauces

Stopped in here for lunch while doing business in the area, and ended up having one of the better burritos I've had in quite a while. It was big, neatly rolled, the ingredients seemed fresh, and best of all it was only $4.00. That is really affordable, and everything else on the menu was super-cheap. What a steal. The salsa verde and salsa roja were both tasty, the red one was my favorite, it has a nice smoky edge to it. Chips & salsa were okay I guess. Service was good, and the restroom was clean. Wish this place was by me. Highly reccommended!

I finally found out how the lamb is cooked. It's barbacoa, which generally means slow cooked over an open fire. Barbecue is actually derived from barbacoa. Generally beef is used for this, but here, they use lamb, and it's spectacular. Just make sure to call ahead if you're in a hurry, 15 minute waits are common!

They have lots of plants in the window and hanging around. and great tacos. and wonderful salsa. i dont like how huge their chunks of chicken are though in the enchiladas (yes i just complained about a food being too big!) but theyre tasty as well. also, during the lunch hours it has taken way too long to get your order filled - maybe they have a very small kitchen or not enough help, but 35 minutes for 3 tacos is too long, especially when youre at work and dont have time to sit around. the girls up front are always nice....i always look forward to going to this "hole in the wall"! if theyd take that giant old (non-working) tv out, it would open it up a little, making it seem less crowded.

A great go-to spot for good tacos. I especially like that they come with cheese as a part of getting "everything" on them, but instead of just sprinkling the cold cheese on top, I think they put it on the meat when it's on the grill and mix it in - very gooey and delicious. They have carnitas every day, which are flavorful, but sometimes too fatty for me. Their carne asada (steak) meat has a great, real grill flavor, and their chicken is well spiced with generous chunky pieces, instead of stewed. A word of caution - their salsas were so confusing to me at first. The light green one looks like a regular and mild tomatillo salsa verde - it is NOT. It is hot as hell. And the black flecked one that looks damn near lethal is actually more flavorful than spicy - it is super good. The horchata is thinner and not as creamy as I prefer, but it's still decent. It's a very small taqueria with a small dining room, but there are a ton of plants in there, which is nice and very pretty. And there is a Pacman video game. Prices are low - a burrito is $3.45, tamales are .95 cents, nothing on the menu cost more than about $6.

Good food, but be prepared to walk away hungry if the chef messes up your order and you come back to have it re-made. It happened to me, after waiting 15 minutes for my food to be re-made, the girl came out and said she was sorry, but the cook "didn't feel like" making my food, he was too busy. There was no one else in the place. I almost laughed when she asked if I wanted my money back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
