We have been staying down the road a block at the Mountain View Lodge, when we checked in, we were told to give it a try, wouldn't be sorry and we would also get a 10% discount by showing our room key. First day there we got lunch to go and ate it on the road. My son had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, and green apple cabbage soup,I had the fish sandwich with fries. The fish had a nice crisp coating, was full of flavor the fries home cut like mom used to make. The mashed potatoes had small lumps, which let us know they also were home made, chicken fried steak was just that, great coating, full of tender meat and it was real. This place was a real find in our books as we are not partial to food factory stuff. Was looking forward to our next meal there to see how it fared. The next night we returned from a long drive, ordered our meal and decided to eat there. The place is small and cozy, very warm and welcoming with plenty of seating. I had the chicken fried steak as I could not keep my fingers and fries out of the gravy from the day before. My son ordered shrimp scampi. Now what kind of shrimp scampi we expected being we live on the coast, well the meal was everything it should be, soup, salad, main course. The shrimp melted in your mouth, the pasta was perfect. The big surprise also came when we ordered fried calamari to start. I have never had it so tender and each bite was a treat to my mouth. The service was fast, friendly, and made us feel right at home. Darn I wish this place was not a thousand miles from home. Breakfast this morning was another treat; the hashbrowns were perfect, crisp, yet not overdone, with a hint of butter in the flavor. I had Eggs Benedict with spinach; my son had the biscuits and gravy. We are happy campers
