I absolutely love blisters! My roommate are in almost a few times a week and we always see tons of regulars! The staff are fun and friendly and very quick! I would suggest getting the Cuban if you've never had one before! The meat is all fresh, sauce is unique and kickin' and the prices are way better than the hickory's. Not to mention the portion sizes are awesome!

I really wanted to try the brisket sandwich from here, because I was missing the juicy, delicious taste of brisket. Sadly, they shred their brisket and toss it in BBQ sauce. It was okay, but I was just expecting an actual slice of brisket. My husband got the Tri-Tip sandwich which came with cheese, and it was pretty good dipped in ranch. The sandwiches would have been so much better if they used higher quality buns. Their buns taste really cheap. The fries were really good though!

The meat was so sour that it was not edible. I can't believe this place has such a high review.

  • Nathan I.

Tri-tip was not good, came out on a hot dog bun, was dry, and NOT bbq. Two stars because the waffle fries were decent but obviously a store bought frozen brand. I would not recommend eating here for bbq

I don't often find myself in Rexburg, but when I do...I'm at a gas station eating some tasty tri-tip. I actually find pleasure in the fact that this BBQ place is in a gas station because it's low-key and you don't expect much so it's all the better when the food is delicious. Get some gas, get some tri-tip, and then get some more tri-tip. Then you can leave Rexburg.

Yes, its in a gas station. Yes it is delicious. This is probably the best pulled pork in Eastern Idaho. Their pulled chicken is made from rotisserie chicken. It's really really good. It's a little out of the way from where most of the restaurants are in Rexburg, but definitely worth the short trip. Their BBQ sauce is also SUPER flavorful. Please start botteling this stuff for sale.

Very disappointed! Blisters BBQ used to be a place to get reasonable priced BBQ with huge serving sizes. They have switched the bun out for a cheaper quality smaller size, which is annoying because they up-ed the price a dollar. The side have gone down in size also. I like the old hole-in-the-wall out of a gas station bbq place that had a home cooked and serving size feeling.

Located in a gas station. Drove past location and had to call them to verify address. Told me inside Mobil station. Excellent customer service, large portions. Pulled pork, brisket, and cheese steak really really good. Tender melt in your mouth meat. Highly recommend. Best little BBQ place.

Wow, blisters and hickory should switch spots. Blisters is a little hidden gem that should get the attention that hickory gets. Finally a brisket that is juicy, and doesn't feel reheated. Props to this little mom and pop place that has a smoker in the back of a Mobil station. I hate to make this review about a hickory blisters comparison, but if we were to strictly compare the meats and nothing else between hickory and blisters(since the smoked meat is the essence of a barbecue place), the meat at blisters is juicy, flavorful, and tastes like real barbecue. It also actually tastes like it was made that day. Wow. It's also really cheap. The 2 man staffed little hole in the wall gem is a friendly reminder that a good barbecue place doesn't have to take up a huge plot of land. Just some passion, hard work, and a smoker is all that's needed. I got a brisket sandwich, my wife got a pulled pork sandwich. We both got green chili, and I got a deep fried hot dog. We get home and had no barbecue sauce in the bag! No worries! the food was so damn good we didn't even care. I had just had my second lunch an hour before and was only eating at blisters for the sheer joy of it, and also because my wife was in desperate need of a snickers. I can for sure say that the food is so damn good you enjoy it even if you aren't hungry. It was indulgent like a chocolate chip cookie. Is it the best barbecue ever? No. My five star review is being given within the context of the current food scene in Rexburg. Meaning, considering almost all places here are 1 or 2 stars, this place blows them out of the water. I need to figure out how to get more people to go to blisters. They deserve the business.

BBQ. A+++ love this place! It's in a gas station but don't knock it til you try it! It's absolutely fabulous BBQ. I got the cheesesteak with waffle fries. The fry sauce is the best I've ever tried, without a doubt. It's worth the money and I'll definitely be going back. It's a hidden treasure!

If you are in the Rexburg area and want BBQ this is the place for you. It might be in a gas station but the BBQ is the best you will find in this area.

Fantastic food for a fantastic price. I recommend the brisket. Get it with cole slaw on the sandwich, and fries. You won't leave hungry!

Best BBQ in the area, with some reservations. The Carolina style BBQ (vinegar based) is very delicious. The options of meat are perfectly smoked and juicy. They have recently expanded their menu, with some tasty additions. The reservations come as I've seen portion sizes shrink and prices increast. The bread rolls were changed a while back and the new ones aren't as good. I recommend the tri-tip, brisket, and the reuben. Get the waffle fries and their fry sauce as well.

I can't recommend this place enough. The prices are low, portions are large, and the food is outstanding. My personal favorite is the Pulled Pork Sandwich, but try the Bleu Heaven too. I've tried just about everything on the menu and you can't go wrong with any of it. It's about time that Rexburg got a great food joint all its own.

This is not gas station food. GET THE TRI-TIP SANDWICH. After hearing a lot about it, I finally ate here. The waffle fries and the sauce they give with them is AMAZING. The tri-tip sandwich i ordered was incredible. That is all i have to say.

By far the best fast food in rexburg, anything from the smoker is amazing, good portion sizes, and they're a local place do they'll make whatever you want (pulled pork on a burger? Why not?) completely heaven sent.

A Friend recommended this place and I thought it was great , I was surprised at the location in a gas station but of you make good food what the heck! , I had the pulled pork ... I recommend it. I give it a solid 4 stars

This place is fantastic. Best BBQ you can get in Rexburg and maybe even in Madison county. I got the pulled pork sandwich with waffle fries. The portions are huge and you will be full. I would eat there everyday if I could.

The best food in the City of Rexburg. I have graduated and left Rexburg, but my Blister's cravings will always haunt me! Great Carolina style BBQ (vinegar based, not ketchup based). My North Carolinian husband is the pickiest when it comes to BBQ, and he raved about it. He loves the pulled pork with extra crushed red pepper, and I am a big fan of the Cuban sandwich. Their waffle fries are also pretty terrific, and you leave feeling really full. Remember, you are NOT there for the atmosphere, you are there for the food! Blister's is hidden inside a (clean) gas station, and some people can't handle that fact. If you really have a problem with that, take it to go! If you want a hipster dance party, go to Sammy's. If you want a great, affordable meal, go to Blister's. Keep this one in business, Rexburg!

My husband and I love Blisters! Everything we've had and tasted has been good. We especially love their hamburgers, tri tip, and pulled pork. I'd have to say I like their fry sauce, but it is a little strong for me. Same with their Cuban sandwich. My husband and I had to switch sandwiches when I ordered the Cuban because of the strong vinegar and dill taste (in other words: pickle juice). However, my husband enjoys the strong favors of the Cuban and fry sauce so it's a matter of preference.

Great waffle fries. The bacon wrapped deep fried hot dogs are nice and crispy. Great food!

  • J C.

I don't get the hype! I went with my wife on the recommendation of some friends. Portion size was pretty abysmal for the price. A few pieces of meat and cheese on a hot dog bun is not what I call appetizing BBQ. Maybe I just totally ordered the wrong thing, but with how sick we felt afterwards, I don't think we'll be going back.

The first word that comes to mind is inconsistent. I've had good food here and I've had terrible food here. Fries have been old and cold on multiple occasions. They also should figure out some other type of bread for their sandwiches because it's constantly falling apart and gets incredibly soggy. The location is unappealing and frankly is a little gross. The tri-tip can be good...on a good day.

Absolutely disgusting. We had heard wonderful things about Blisters so despite the first attempt at eating there, we decided to give them a second chance. Big mistake. We paid for the food, expecting it to be good, and I even paid a tip because they make you do that before you even get your food. I don't know why they expect a tip because their tables were all dirty, the food was cold, and we had to get our own sauces and our own food. Essentially we served ourselves. There was a girl worker there being a nuisance the whole time, giving free food to a group of freshmen and talking about all the guys she kissed. When they left she told the other workers that it pays to flirt even though you're married so you can get tips. I only mention this because it added to my disgust for eating in a gas station. Do yourself a favor and don't eat there. I think people think it's so great because they consider it a "hidden gem" in a gas station - and there aren't a lot of great places to eat in Rexburg. We got the brisket both times, and both times it was neither soft nor tasty. We also got the tri-tip, which wasn't that bad. I won't ever eat there again.

If you are a fan of Carolina BBQ, then this is the place to go. Blisters is a workin' man's bbq place. This is not only because you'll often see the owner behind the counter making your sandwich, but because there is a nice, laid back atmosphere. Located inside a Shell Station on the outskirts of town, Blisters offers numerous variations of bbq and grilled food. Such notable favorites include * My bleu heaven- a buffalo chicken breast, with a reuben sandwich, and bleu cheese crumbles. It's a delicious hot mess. * the pulled pork- this could be their claim to fame. Sweet tender pork on a thick bolio roll. I may be biased but this is my favorite place to eat in Rexburg. Huge portions, epic flavor, and low prices join forces to create an awesome dining experience.

This is by far the best gas station barbecue in Rexburg. Popular with the locals who know how to find a great deal, Blisters is a must-try for anyone passing by. Affordable prices and large portions. The pulled pork is my favorite entree. Be sure to get a side of fresh cut French fries.

There is nothing like this in Rexburg and it is a hidden gem! I LOVE the fries and the meat there is fantastic! Love to go there when they are running a dealio!!!

  • Christian S.

The portion was quite large and the price was very low but my sandwich, as well as my fries were at room temperature. Beyond that, the flavor left something to be desired. All I could taste was the sugar in the bbq sauce. I really expected this place to be stellar because of all the awesome reviews but I was left thoroughly unimpressed.

What can I say after that? Had a Cuban sandwich, fries and drink. Outstanding food. Will gladly go back.

Oh how I wish this place was in Cali! We went to eat here while visiting Rexburg, and it was AMAZING! My husband and I split a Cuban Sandwich and a Reuben. Oh my gosh. They were the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Apparently the owner smokes his own meat every morning. If you get there too late, you may not get a reuben as they tend to run out of Pastrami. The vinegar based sauce on the pulled pork is to die for, and the fry sauce with the cross cut fries are unusual and delicious as well. You can't miss this place. I didn't mind at all that I was sitting in a gas station. :)

POSITIVES: Believe me, it was hard to think of positives. The burger and fries were decent at best. NEGATIVES: Everything else sucked. I don't care how big the portions are when the food is that disgusting! I am not exaggerating when I say the pulled pork tasted like vomit. It was extremely sour, as if it had been soaking in a dirty sink, or sitting out for days. Neither my wife nor I could stand to eat another bite. It ruined my appetite. I don't ever remember not being able to finish what I ordered when I'm really hungry , but I just couldn't do it. The sauces they had out were watery and also tasted like crap, which ruined the rest of our burger. Their attempt at fry sauce was laughable. I would slap everyone who works there in the face for creating such monstrosities that they pass off as food every day. What a disgrace to BBQ. Now don't get me wrong. I love very delicious, well-prepped BBQ food, but I am also a frequent customer of places like Arby's or Five Guys. I've eaten stuff off the street in Argentina, I frequent food trucks and happily try my friends' attempts at cooking. But this was SO DIGUSTING just thinking about it makes me want to puke the chunks of pork that I ate... if it even was pork. Another gripe I had is the fact that it's located in the flippin gas station (was almost impossible to find) which was also the first clue as to what we were getting ourselves into, in spite of all the raving reviews. The staff was only friendly to the regulars (which surprises me that they even have any). The men's bathroom was hideous. Some have unworthily rated it 5 stars; if I could rate this place negative stars, I would. Few times in my life have I been as disappointed as I was with this poor excuse of a restaurant. Never go to Blister's BBQ. With your help, the worst restaurant in the world will close down. PRICE: about $7 per person for sandwich and fries. RECOMMENDED: Don't waste your money. Go to the Hickory, or Big Boys BBQ... heck, go to McDonald's instead.

Finally, a first class southern BBQ joint in Rexburg! How good is it? Well, I've petitioned Yelp to let me give it 6 stars. I had the pulled-pork sandwich meal for only $5.50. It included a huge sandwich on a po' boy roll, loaded with mass quantities of delicious, juicy, Carolina style, pulled pork. It was covered with a delicious light cole slaw (optional, but HIGHLY recommended) and included some amazing waffle fries and a drink. I'm not sure how they can stay in business giving you that much food for such a low price. I've tasted southern BBQ in the deep south, and this was as good or better than any pulled pork I've ever eaten. Other fun items on the menu included the brisket, ribs, chicken, burgers, and dogs. The Blisters dog is wrapped in bacon and they have a deep-fried dog that is [literally] to die for. The fries come with Blister's tasty fry sauce, which is unique and very hard to decribe. It is also potentially addictive. Blister's BBQ is less than one mile west of Rexburg on Main street, at Mother Hibbards. It isn't much to look at since its located in the gas station/food stop. It has an intentionally dive-y feel (the menu is written on sheet metal with a marker), but don't be deceived. The quality of the food and the size of the servings are off-the-charts. People of Rexburg: Unite and do what is necessary to keep this place in business! My taste buds are counting on you.

It's in a gas station but far exceeds "gas station" food. I must admit that the actual place is not the cleanest. It's a perfect place to grab lunch to go. No one will believe you got this great food in a gas station.

You like quality BBQ? Convenience Stores? Quality prices? Then Blisters IS YOUR MOTHERFUCKER. Went to this place after bridge jumping. Mang, not only is this place good, but the location is to DIE FOR! Have any idea where its in? A GAS STATION. That's right, I said it. A GAS STATION. See, what I did was I got soma dat pulled-pork sandwich on my plate, then they gave me an empty cup. AND I COULD FILL IT USING THE SODA FOUNTAIN INSIDE THE GAS STATION. I don't know who you are, but that's fucking smart right there. You don't like fountain drinks? How about bottled coke? Beer? Arizona? Energy drinks? All up in this bitch. Anyways, the sandwich was prime material, I must say. Also, you get a shit-ton of fries. Big value. Great place to celebrate Murica and friendship.

Really great fries. Extremely bland and dry brisket. It is baked and not smoked, so not much flavor. I don't understand why restaurants think it is OK to serve bland and dry brisket that they don't even bother to pretend to smoke. If you have to come here, get the pulled pork sandwich and waffle fries.

This place is amazing! Rexburg is short on culinary choices, and this hidden gem makes up for it. My wife and I like to try new places, and word of mouth brought us here. This place doesn't aim to be some health nut place, it's a full-on meat fest, but that's a good thing! I highly recommend their bleu heaven (fried chicken breast smothered in bleu cheese, Frank's red hot sauce, and corned beef). My mouth still waters thinking about it.. I'm pretty sure I had a mini heart attack eating it, but it was well worth it. My wife had the cheese steak and loved it as well. If you're looking for that one place that you should visit when passing through a small town, this is the one you can't miss. I can't wait to go back!

I don't know where to start... Found this place over a year ago. Couldn't believe it was in a gas station (really hope they move in town so they can grow) They menu is always growing and they always have different deals going. My new favorite is their chicken sandwich and fried green beans. Wife always goes with the beans and either the steak sandwich or the pork. I really hope they keep the portion sizes. I've never left their hungry! It used to be a little place I'd go into and see maybe one or two people, now i go inside and it's always packed. They do a great job of getting you food fast though for the amount of staff and space. They cater for church activities too! (I first heard about them in a bishopric meeting where we talked about our closing social)

Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and waffle fries. The waffle fries tasted like they were fried in old oil and the cole slaw tasted like it came out of a packet. The pulled pork had a weird tang to it. It was just gas station food. Although the food wasn't great at least it was cheap.
