We drove by Los Betos almost every day since we settled in to Caldwell in the summer of 2012. Sometimes it was on the way to find some good Mexican food. Now we don't go by it if we want good Mexican food, we drop in, carry out, or use the drive-through - frequently enough we almost have the menu memorized. Los Betos is a fast food restaurant with very little ambience. What it lacks in upscale décor it more than makes up with huge portions of very good Mexican food at very attractive prices. The food varies from a little tex-mex to true Mexican food as presented in the smaller towns of northern Mexico. With a drive-through open 24/seven and the inside open the same 24 hours Friday and Saturday with closing between 2 and 6 am the rest of the week, there is no time you can't satisfy that sudden urge. We haven't tried the breakfast items yet, but have had a sampling of a couple of combination plates (there are about 18) and some of the burritos, tacos, and Chimis. The main foods are as good as any in the area. The fish tacos taste like fish tacos should. The shredded beef burrito, chimi, or taco is huge and flavorful. Even the refried beans and rice served with most combination plates are better than some of the fancier Mexican places in the area. Did I mention the portions are huge? My spouse usually only eats half of her order. That means I get it as a snack later at home. The prices are very reasonable considering the size and authentic taste Los Betos serves up. As a neighbor said to us, we think you will like Los Betos. Give it a try.

Always seems to be a hit or miss, but I love there food, just some day more then others. Maybe it depends on who's cooking.... Burritos priced well and you get a lot.

I happen to like this chain - a lot. They have So. Cal style mexican food, something that is hard to leave once you move out of the state. Trust me on this - I have moved around a lot. Some of my favorites are the enchiladas, chicken burrito, and shredded beef tacos. They have horchata and most of the time it is good. Every now and then you get a weak batch. I wish it was more consistent but when it is good it is GOOD so I won't complain too much about it. My one chief complaint is that it says that it is 24 hours but I have gone here a number of times after midnight and they were closed. Bummer.

Kind of a hit or a miss at these kinds of places. They are either good or make you sick, depending on whose cooking. The place is not very clean either,

Delicious food. Generous portions. Good prices. Its not filled with ambiance or atmosphere but what do you expect? Its a fast food style place that's open 24/7. I had a chimichanga and my brother had a burrito. We sampled each other's food. Next time I'm in Nampa, I have to go. It was great. If you love Mexican food, you have to go. End of story.

Hit or miss. Mostly a miss. The food is average. What pushes it below average is when I have to dismantle my burrito and rebuild it myself because all of the ingredients have been somehow segregated perfectly into their own sections. It's almost comical at times. Every once in a while I eat here and it's outstanding... but once in a while it's beyond bad.

I've been continuing to try the place out and they've been taking extra care lately to QC their orders before they go out the window, so we'll give them an extra star to see if they can even it out.

My only other experience with Mexican food in Idaho was by far the WORST I have experienced, so i wasn't expecting much. But the chile relleno burrito was intriguing on the menu, and flavorful on the pallet. A hefty burrito (not whale size, but a good portion) packed with cheese stuffed peppers and a LOT of toppings. I can see how this place is THE stop for a late night craving. The joint is clean, prices fair, but the salsa could use some serious help... all of them. For a 24 hour fast foodish mexican restaurant with a drive-thru, I'll be here again!

Good quick Mexican food that's open 24 hours. Prices on burritos seem a bit high in my opinion, but they are large and not ruined by being smothered in enchilada sauce. It's a good place to kill the late night munchies.

All I can say is daaaamn, I wish I had taken pics of my food it was monsterously huge, I totally was not expecting that. I have been to Muchas Gracias and Rigabertos in Portland, OR and Adelbertos in CA all have very wonderful foods, each seem's to have something the other doesn't. At this eatery it had something alright, if I combine all three resteraunts into one, then you get this establishment Los Beto's you get that and MORE much, much more. The flavor is phenominal, and the portion omg, the portion is so BIG bigger then the other three resteraunts which totally amazed me, the prices actually come out the same but at Los Beto's you get more BANG for the buck. I ordered 5 rolled taco's it came with the norm lettuce, gaucomole, salsa, cheese, and sour cream. But it also came with diced steak, and a drink and all this cost only $5.50 which is SUPER CHEAP Not expecting the 5 rolled taco's to fill me up, I had ordered a Super Nacho with extra carne asada, OMG it was so huge the plate barely contained it, if I went to any of the other three restraunts for extra meat is usually costs an extra $2 but at Los Beto's they DIDN'T charge me for extra meat, I was totally shocked my super nacho only cost around $7.50 I think maybe $7.89 either way it was extremely afforadable I wish we had a Los Beto's in OR and WA this place has definatley made it to #1 on my list of fav 24 hour Mexican food :-) they've earned their 5 stars from me.

Generous portions, excellent prices and flavor that just won't quit. For a 24 hour Mexican drive-through I fail to see how they can be beat. The one thing I will say is that I don't find their tortas especially engaging but that's a minor quibble when they offer the excellent Steak Ranchero.

I've been to a bunch of Mexican place in my life being from LA and this was by far one of the worst. Their shredded beef was dry. Rice and Beans had no flavor. All their salsa is out of control spicy. I will say this...service is decent and prices are good.

Having flown in from Portland to Boise and detouring to Nampa to join forces with my brother we were heading out to I-84 to go to the other side of the state to take care of some urgent family business. That was all well and good and noble, but does it mean you have to deprive yourself of a good breakfast? I think not. My brother being a connoisseur of all things good to eat drove by Los Beto's so we could partake of breakfast burritos. Something you can eat and still drive reasonably well. In Portland we have a spreading chain called Muchas Gracias, and this place looked to be nearly a carbon copy. Big burritos sold cheap, great looking platters of food. As it was early in the morning I spotted the object of my affection, a bacon, egg and potato burrito. The brother got the Chorizo, egg and potato burrito which I wanted but was warned it can be spicy, so I opted for a wussy option. When our food come up the burritos were HUGE. Could I be dreaming? Was this heaven? Have I found Mexican food perfection? As I looked at the menu which had pictures of all the combos I saw about thirteen things I wanted to try later, but for now it was time to hit the road and traverse the great state of Idaho, which we did, steering wheel in one hand, burrito in the other and the XM satellite radio blaring out tunes to eat by. 244 miles to Mom's house? Bring it!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
