Honkers prides itself on down home cooking and friendly service. Today we went in for a quick lunch and once again they didn't disappoint. Service was five stars. The meatloaf was five stars. Mashed potatoes were very good, as were the green beans. And the dinner roll that came with my husband's meatloaf.... Let's just say we wished we could make it the size of a king sized mattress and roll (pun intended) around on it. It was that good. I had a cinnamon roll and decaf coffee. Their cinnamon rolls, like their scones, are house made and huge. The decaf came in a carafe which was nice because I could refill my dainty lil' coffee cup at any time. (Honestly, I could have just stuck a straw in the carafe, the cup was so small, but I appreciated both vessels). Plus, it came with a little pitcher of cream! Major points for not handing me a bowl full of individually wrapped half and halfs (because, as someone who likes a little coffee with their cream, I hate having a table covered in a million of those things by the end of the meal). Our waiter was attentive, apologetic for not being lightning quick (he was still pretty darned fast), and personable. With dishes like Salisbury steak, liver and onions, meatloaf, and fish and chips, Honkers is home cooking for those who don't want to cook at home. Give them a try!

This place is my jam. Wait staff can very but for the most part are good. They are closed on Sunday so plan accordingly. I recommend the fries though I will warn they have varied in consistency over time.. A while back they switched to whatever they are doing now and it was divine, but I've got more than my fair share of crap fries (and hashbrowns) over the months. Still worth the roll, try an Idaho Melt. Reubens are competent as well! (imho)

CINNAMON ROLL!! They are amazing fresh on Saturday mornings, and still delicious a few days old on Monday mornings! The servers and owners are super friendly! Best breakfast food around!

Let me start off by saying I have been here several times, but not recently. So, today I came to lunch with my wife. I ordered the special of the day which was cod and chips. Don't get the cod and chips. They give you 2 tiny pieces of fish and half the fries of a regular menu item. To their credit they have a small portion of vegetables, either corn or green beans and a roll. The roll was half raw. The bottom half of it still had an elastic feel to it, that's how raw it was. That really sucked too because I was hoping that would be the filler to such tiny portions of everything else. My wife ordered the philly steak sandwich had good sized portions of everything, that's why this rating has 2 stars instead of only 1. They should of called this the Grannie special because only a little old lady would walk away from that meal full. On a side note, I left the waitress a standard 15% tip because the service was good and it's never the server's fault the cooks in the back are skimping on the portions. Probably won't be back there for a while.

Honkers was a delight. In town for one night, went there for breakfast. Huge portions, great prices. The sausage patty is the size of 3 or 4 normal sausage patties. The French toast was good, and well covered in egg. They boast using Idaho potatoes, which seemed odd in the middle of Idaho, but I guess local pride dies hard. Kids meals were bigger than my 3 and 6 yr old appetites, the 10 yr old finished hers.

They make a great garden omelette, full of veggies and paleo friendly. Best bacon we've had in a while. We'll be back!

We went on a Monday and kids eat for only .99 cents which was great. Food was filling, good portions. Nice environment and good service.

Dinner is not worth it. Anything that involves beef at this place is disappointing since it has a processed texture (ie hamburgers). Fingersteaks are hand dipped cubed steak...i prefer actual chunks of steak. Also, portions involving any meat are small. Evening service is ok. Overall, nothing to write home about...

Get the cinnamon roll. That's what I got. It's also the only thing I got. If you want a down home diner, this is the place. And being able to drizzle your own icing on the cinnamon roll is, well... the icing on the cinnamon roll.

Le Baron's Honker has been in business for a long time and is a staple in the Downtown area. Fully remodeled in recent years it's a really nice place to eat. The portions are large, especially if you order of the breakfast menu. I had a short stack that took up 2 plates. Bring your appetite. They also have a pretty active Facebook page so you can see what the evenings specials are and interact with them behind the scenes.

As good as it gets in Nampa for a good breakfast. Buy why stop there, I've been there a couple of times for lunch or dinner too and they do a bang up job with that as well. I'd recommend the cinnamon rolls, the hash browns, the french toast... but especially the cinnamon roll bread pudding... MERCY!!!

Chef Natasha (or so that is what her experience, expertise and education calls her) is fabulous. I have NEVER had a cold, half cooked or any of the ridiculous issues listed by the self-proclaimed food critic that is "TB". Every dish is flavorful, cooked to my desires and completely fulfilling. This young lady can do it all. Ignorant reviews are so frustrating on these things. Not constructive, at all. If you frequent the restaurant so much, why would this be the first place for you to voice your concerns? If you are SO unsatisfied with Chef Natasha, why would you continue to return? And to top it off, your review is just demeaning, rude and disrespectful. Get a life and find a new place to dine. Keep on, keeping on Chef. You do a delicious job. Matter of fact, I think I will head in for a steak tomorrow, hope you are working! Glad "TB" could clear up your future in his personal kitchen too. What an arrogant prick.

We have had breakfast here about 7 times. It has always been wonderful. Today I stopped to reserve a table for a meeting on Sat and so I decide to have breakfast. I ordered the chicken fried chicken because it is so yummy at the airport cafe. The cook made a mistake and fixed me chicken fired steak so the waitress corrected it resulting in a long wait. When it came it was dry and almost burnt and the toast was hard as a rock. I will go back but this was not a good day

Well, I'm about to update this review. I have added a star and here is why. A couple of nights ago a friend and I were wanting pasta, soooooooo, being no good pasta spots around, ok let me qualify that, no pasta spots around in Nampa that I have found that I like and don't get ill from eating there (yes Olive Garden you are the culprit and Smokey Mountain you are not far behind) off we go to Le Baron's. I'm thinking ok I may have to give up on pasta tonight, but wait there is pasta on menu. So I order Mama's Spaghetti. Oh my, it WAS Mama's Spaghetti!!!! Just like my mom used to make when I was a child (however she wouldn't have put mushrooms in it as I wouldn't have touched them then). Huge portion too, I ate it all, yum. Garlic bread was a little dry and salty, but who cares when the pasta is this good. I would definitely do this dish again. Who needs over-priced fancy Italian places when I can get this in downtown Nampa? Updated 1/23/12.

At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain.
