When I was going to the U of I, Rosauers, there were basically three grocery options in town: Tidyman's (their then-new store now sadly sitting vacant), Safeway (who I have always mistrusted for some inexplicable reason), and the slightly lower rent Rosauers, which just happened to be the closest grocery store to three of the places I lived in Moscow, so it easily became my grocery of choice. While back in the area over the holidays, I dropped into Rosauers to pick up some things for dinner and was very happy to find that they hadn't just stayed the same, but had actually improved over what was already a solid operation. The store isn't just well-lit, but it has a pleasant warmth that is rather soothing. The aisles are wide and well-organized, and their natural food section is very strong for a locally-owned small town store. They have a proper butcher/deli counter, and wonderful aromas emanating from their bakery permeate the store earlier in the day when they're turning out their renowned donuts. The staff are friendly and accessible, and they have "family friendly" checkout lanes, free of the usual point of sale tabloids and candy. These days, a slightly more cost effective option is WinCo out at the Palouse Mall, and Safeway continues to lurk suspiciously out at the other mall, but Rosauers is still the best game in town.

I think the tag line could be: Rosauers - it's not WinCo. I lived nearby and shopped here often. What I liked most is that it wasn't full of screaming children or hoards of college students. The produce was well stocked and had some exotic items now and then. Actually most items are very well stocked. I could get most everything I need here. The staff is super friendly and the bakery does a nice job. There is a RedBox in the vestibule. It gets a 4 for not being the Co-Op (my favorite store) but would make a 4.5 if possible since they do have a nice all natural section. Oddly enough I've missed this store since I've moved away.

The reason I give it five stars is because it is one of the few stores with such a great health goods section. They have a large section for gluten free snacks and cereals. A large supplements section and a variety of healthy oils.

Why don't we have these in Seattle? Or even Western Washington? So not fair. This place has zero good grocery stores. Yeah, we got Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, but the former lacks most necessities and the latter is way too 'spensive. In Bellingham I had Haggen's to go to, but alas, that chain reaches no further south than Mt Vernon. This lil small-town grocery store was just perfect. Cute, nice people, and an overwhelmingly impressive condiment bar that speaks volumes about the chain's trust for its clientele. No hobos stocking up on free hot chocolate and horseradish sauce here! No siree bob. I bet if they tried, the people at this grocery store would just feed them, out of the goodness of their pea-pickin' lil hearts. I might be blinded by small-town charm, but now that my Idaho visit is over and I'm back in Seattle, my heart yearns for a good ol' grocery store like this. Additionally, great jo-jos. I appreciate a good wedge of potato like few girls can.

This review is for the Deli mainly I have gotten other stuff here but the Deli is were it is at baby over all its a grocery store ya so what .... but if you are ready to get your lunch on go to there deli and gets some food the Fried chicken is damn good, no its not Albersons (see my review on there deli) so is the baked and rotisserie but hey its what is in town and its better than KFC any day of the week !! and the salads and other sides all that I have tried so far have been fresh and damn tasty the people working here must take happy pills or its just that its a small town, they always have a smile on there face, and are a pleasure to talk to, and living in Seattle I know how bitchy the people can be at Safeway and QFC

Thank jebus, I never have to go to Safeway again!!! (Except for the salad bar, maybe..) I think for the most part the prices are similar. Like Safeway they have a few items deeply discounted and everything else is regular priced. However, unlike Safeway, the selection is great and everything seemed well stocked. They have a whole section devoted to organic, earth-friendly, products. The Meat and Deli departments looked pretty nice also. Best grocery shopping experience in the Pullman/Moscow area!
