Chic and small wine bar. They have so many different varieties!

I really want to love Nectar. It is, in theory, exactly my type of restaurant. Except I don't. I like the atmosphere, and I LOVE their inexpensive wine flights, but I really dislike their food. However, because Moscow really needed a restaurant like Nectar, I think they'll get by.

Great place - try the mac & cheese or the meatloaf. A wine flight is also a great companion to a meal, and is priced well. The prices make this one place in town where you can sometimes avoid drowning in the detritus of the greek system.

I had a burger with an unusually soft bun, no onions and cooked greens of some sort that just lacked texture. The dish was a miss and I simply expected more.

I've already decided that I'm going to come here once a week--okay, maybe only once a month--every week (or month) during the two and half years it's going to take B to finish his graduate studies. We went on our first night in Moscow just this past Saturday. Good stuff! I don't really remember much about the sauvignon blanc special I ordered because I was so tired that I almost fell asleep after a few sips, but their IPA on draught was really nice. It wasn't too hoppy, but it had a nice fresh flavor. The pork belly app special with poached apricots was super tasty. A touch on the salty side, but very melt-in-your mouth kind of good. The apricots were warmly spiced and delicious. My arugula salad with chevre and strawberries hit the spot. B enjoyed his nectar salad. The greens in both salads were extremely fresh. My shrimp and grits were just shrimp and grits. Literally. Nothing else was done to it to make it special, so I'll skip it next time. The shrimp was too salty and a bit overcooked. Boo. But B's and P's burgers were perfect! The sun dried tomato catsup was amazing! Okay, so it was kind of salty (what is my deal? did my taste buds need to be recalibrated that day?) and seemed more aioli than catsup, but it was soooo good! I think they put garam masala in it. B and I shared the house made huckleberry and honey ice cream for dessert and it was like heaven.

Since I wrote the original review, I've been to Nectar quite a bit...like 5 or 6 times in the last 2 months. I have always had good service and good food. I've had almost everything on the summer menu, and each time I go there it gets more difficult to decide which entree I want. Will it be the filet mignon? the salmon? the pork? the crab cakes? the pizza with the tenderloin and blue cheese? etc. Nectar is, by far, my favorite place to eat in the area.

  • Aaron S.

Excellent service as well as the pours. A flight amounted to 3 full glasses of wine for $18! A rule of thumb is if you aren't any where near the coast, don't order crab. My cakes were a bit dry and salty. The appetizers, salad and service more than made up for it.

Fantastic. Great food. Great service. Great wine list. Great atmosphere. Nectar would be a success in a much larger market - we are so lucky that the owners decided to move to town a few years back to open a restaurant. Try the meatloaf!

Nectar is very Jekyll and Hyde to me. All I've ever heard is how good this place is, yet both times I've been there the experience was inconsistent. The first time my meal was overdone, but the second time the food was quite good. Both times, however, the service was inadequate. The waitstaff made me feel as if they would rather be someplace else, and once the food was served we barely saw them again. Overall, Nectar is overpriced and overhyped. You should give it a chance (especially the lamb chops) because you just might go on one of the good nights.

The restaurant was candle lit which I absolutely loved. The waitress was attentive and very nice! When I first saw the Mac and Cheese bowl, I thought it was small and was completely WRONG! They give me so much creamy, delicious pasta that I couldn't even eat it all in one sitting. There is a reason why this bowl is such a hype, it's one of the best things on their menu. Unfortunately, it took at least 30-40 minutes to get our food (two Mac and Cheese bowls). Maybe that's a good indicator that everything was freshly prepared, but I was starving and it wasn't that busy. So, I just didn't think it would take THAT long. Nonetheless, the food, staff, and ambiance was on point. I'll be going back for sure.

So I have attached a picture. It's an empty plate. BECAUSE I ATE IT ALL!!! Came to pack my freshman Cougar to come home and of course she wanted one last party so I Yelped this place. I wanted wine and cool. Much nicer than I expected but I could still be in my moving clothes with my pony. Had the filet and two wine pairings that were spot on! Did I mention I'm a Seattleite living in wine country?! Great place for a town I expected to only have Denny's. Salad was fabulous also! Good find! Thank you Yelpers

I read a review of this place and it bummed me out. But it also was the impetus for getting in to try this place out. The review was from some local that was complaining about the menu never changing. Meh Whiny locals sometimes don't know how good they have it until they don't have it. This place kicks butt. I hate it when people say...."For Reno" but I am gonna say it..... This place is good for Reno. Too bad it's in Moscow because the staff here are really really good at what they do and that makes me jealous we don't have staff like that in Reno. But this isn't a complain about Reno post. It's a praise the awesomeness of Moscow post. I had the special of the night. Meatloaf Sandwich, Salad and a nice glass of wine for $10. Pretty good deal! And the sandwich was just unbelievably tasty and texturally oh so satisfying. Soft roll and soft meatloaf just couldn't be topped. I can't believe I forgot to talk about the cougar gold mac and cheese! The whole reason I started reading the reviews on Yelp in the first place! That Mac and Cheese was good and rich and totally worth the price for the cup. Not sure I could finish it's richness in a whole bowl. But that cup was just the perfect size appetizer. The salad was right on too lightly dressed and so very fresh. But really the star was the staff. The gal making the salads was really friendly and helpful, suggesting I go check out different places in town. The manager type guy was also really cool and fun to talk to. The whole vibe of the place is really exactly what I would picture a winebar that serves food to be like. I did sit at the bar....so I can't tell you how table service goes....but my meal and my time here was probably the highlight of my trip to Moscow and Pullman.

Downtown Moscow is pretty small and it is difficult to miss this place. They have nice outdoor seating, but enough floor to ceiling windows that sitting inside is not much different. We started with the cheese platter, which had absolutely the best blue cheese that I have ever had !!! Plus the honey to accompany was fabulous. The other cheeses were good but this blue cheese just blue (pun) me away. My boyfriend and I even fought over the last piece. I got the mac and cheese based on the recommendation of the printed Moscow guide that I got from the Best Western and the nectar salad. My boyfriend got the burger. The portions are very big, except the fries that came with the burger. The fries actually were one potato chopped. So technically that is a lot of potato to be consuming but compositionally, to the customer, it looked skimpy. There was some kind of pickled onion on my salad that didn't really taste right (too close to vinegar/ alcoholic border). We were too full for dessert. But the drinks were great. The service was very friendly but they were not too attentive. Also, we were left without utensils through the whole appetizer. But when we pointed out missing things they were so nice that I am not really counting it against them. I will come back.

A fabulous locavore restaurant and wine bar I had a hard time choosing what to have, but in the end I couldn't go wrong. The mac & cheese appetizer made with Cougar Gold was superb. The pasta puttenesca was just what it should be - piquant and a little spicy, with all the flavors easily discerned. The wine list was quite good, which given their proximity to Walla-Walla wineries was not surprising -- but the big surprise was the reasonable markup on some wines I know well. And while I didn't feel like meat that night, their non-vegetarian offerings looked really good too. And best of all -- it's a bargain (by Seattle standards) but too expensive to draw the University of Idaho student crowd on a weeknight -- making it a great place for adults to relax and enjoy really good food.

one of the more pricier places to eat in the moscow/pullman area, but completely worth it for their bacon wrapped meatloaf and other delicious menu items. the service has always been fast and friendly.

I loved Nectar. The place is quaint with a romantic touch. I was slightly disappointed with the service. The waiter seemed to be going through the motions rather than actually embracing the job as I've seen in most nice restaurants. My boyfriend and I got the Mac and cheese as an appetizer (I love that they give that as an appetizer) my boyfriend joked asking if it was too late to change his order. For our meal I got the meatloaf and he got the burger. Honestly, most of the flavor of the meatloaf was from the BBQ sauce but it was still very good. I loved the potatoes that went with it. I got a bite of my boyfriends burger and that was also delicious but upset his stomach with how rich it was. Still, delicious to me and he has a regularly sensitive stomach so i don't blame them. They gave him a good chipotle sauce to dip his fries in and put on the burger as well. While I list the negatives the food was still very good and we'll probably go back. I was disappointed with the lack of specials though and would hope they get a more expansive menu.

Really have been pleased with food quality and taste, as well as the wait staff, each time we've been there the last couple of months. Only regret is that their menu is small - understandable in a smaller town and keeping with the owners' wishes to keep things fresh and local as much as possible. Would like to see some different specials - especially entrees - interfused here and now though to keep us coming back!

This was a great find, especially for such a small town. The salads, halibut, and macaroni and cheese were all outstanding. My family and I were very impressed.

One of the best places to eat in Moscow. Favorites: cheese plate, steamed clams, lamb chops, and the orechiette caponata (like a vegetarian "seafood" pasta...I don't know how they do it!). Also, if they ever have their spaghetti & clams special -- *get* it. I cross my fingers it'll be there every time I go! Wonderful, warm atmosphere and service.

My son and I went here during moms weekend and I am soooo glad we came. From the first step into the doorway we were greeted with smiles and welcomed even without a reservation on a Sat. Nite! But they found a way to get us in 15 mins. they serve you wine in the waiting area so that helps:-) the food was fantastic. I had Halibut and son had The Mac n Cheese. Both were great! We sat at bar and got to know Makenzie who works nonstop making delicious desserts and salads. Service all around was great and ambiance was the cherry on top! I WILL be back!

Best I can judge this "upper crust" joint is meant to keep the undesirables out. Prices are way out of bounds for the poor SYSCO food service ingredients here. I love SYSCO when it is priced right, this place not so much. They have a captive pond to fish from here, and they know it. I just hope you don't have high hopes. I did and was let down.

I've been impressed with the selection at Nectar. We tried the clams as an app and they were delicious! I would get it everytime. Be sure to grab some bread and mop up some of the cooking liquid. We also tried the almonds and olive plate to snack on in between and they were good too. For entrees we tried the Halibut with potato pave, swiss chard, and pickled fennel with a buerr e blanc sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly and the potato pave was yummy. The chard was just sauteed and was easily forgotten. The fennel didn't have a strong enough "pickle" and the buerre blanc sauce barely had present. We also tried the Bacon wrapped meatloaf with chipotle barbecue glaze, carrots, and yukon gold mashed potatoes. All of the components in this dish were good. The bacon was soft and chewy which some people don't like. The BBQ sauce was really good and potatoes were spot on. Carrots were still crisp tender and well done. They have a good wine and beer selection and a small dessert list. Definitely worth checking out!

Very nice food and drinks and service for a reasonable price. I had the trout with broccolini and I asked for mashed potato instead of rice..no problem! Lovely atmosphere and I would definitely go back. Rare to have such nice restaurants in small towns. Go here! Reservations are a good idea.

This is an exceptional restaurant and is only rivaled by Sangria. The benefits to Nectar include a wide variety of wine offerings, a simple, yet amazing menu, and it works well for both business and romantic dinners. I have eaten here about 4 times and have never walked away unsatisfied. They are a little higher priced than some other restaurants in the area, but well worth it. Please make sure you have reservations during the weekends or during special events that occur (e.g., commencement or mom's weekend) during the school year.

  • Bosco R.

Pretty decent atmosphere, service, and food all around. Well rounded wine list, and sufficient beer selection. As a local, the menu is starting to feel a little stale, but you probably won't complain about the selection or the food if you are just passing through. If it is really hot (over 95 F) or really cold outside (under 20 F) you might want to consider another location. Their climate control isn't the best.

  • T O.

The service was great, a few good beers on tap, though they could do with a few more. I had the carrot ginger soup which was excellent and different from the norm, well spiced, good flavor, heavy ish for this type of soup, also the flight of deviled eggs, nothing to write home about buuut I reeeally like when people do deviled eggs, I was glad to see it on hte menu, and it was hard to choose because there were lots of options. Came here on a busy friday and was served super quickly.

Found myself in Moscow, Idaho...which is not usual for someone from New Jersey. Saw some reviews for Nectar which were supported by a local family I got to know during my short stay. Made a reservation and it was awesome! I loved that you could partake in a flights of wine...so I went local...very good. I started with a salad, although I did stick a fork in my friends mac and cheese...both did not disappoint. But my meatloaf...mmmmmmm! Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf Chipotle barbecue glaze, carrots, yukon gold mashed potatoes - nothing wrong AT ALL on that plate. Too full for dessert so cannot comment. Place was nicely decorated and alive. Would go again and again...as a matter of fact, the folks I was traveling with, stayed an extra night and did go again...nuff said?

It's gotta be good if you come back a second night in a row. Too many good choices on menu to just eat here once. In town for business. Very very happy with the food. Daily special was tomato bisque. Had a small Mac and cheese. So creamy. Yup, grilled meatloaf was everything everyone else said. Creme brûlée was large portion and perfect. Salads made fresh right at the bar. Nice atmosphere. Relaxing.

One of the better restaurants in town out of the few there are but the menu doesn't change. They have specials but that's the only new or different items for appetizers and entrees. The wine selection is big and should meet anyone's expectations. Change the menu, it's boring for those of us who live here. Service is ok, tonight slow.

  • Henry B.

Visited for dinner lots of noise food was excellent served hot and fresh Took some time to prepare Menu items were not the usual food I have when dining out But the flavors were nicely combined with a wide selection of wines available I feel the Chef was holding back on the foods that were prepared It was maybe he could really fix some menu items that would pair with the wines The cheese plate portions were larger than usual It's called Nectar, the family raise bees But you only get honey with the cheese plate, wax included Parking was small, street parking is available It is more of a wine/ale bar than restraint Was larger inside than it looked from the outside

I spent years going to this place during my University career. I never left disappointed, The two biggest favorite I had were the meatloaf, which brought a gourmet twist to an otherwise traditional meal, as well as the baked macaroni and cheese, which had some wonderful local cougar gold cheese in it. I was highly impressed with their wine list, and over time was able to try at least 10 wines, and loved every one of them. I was fortunate to get to know one of the owners, Brett, who before I moved to live in France for a year, had me try their Crème Brûlée, to see if any I had in France could top it, non could. Another wonderful gem located in Moscow Idaho, with great people serving great food. Cannot share enough praise for this place and the people behind scenes. Cheers.

It's a nice location and atmosphere and the Mac and cheese that my husband and son ordered were good. I got the salmon and it was dry and rather tasteless. The server was nice but our drinks went dry and we were never offered refills nor did she check in during the meal. Doubt we will ever go back.

During our visit to Moscow, we decided to have dinner in town. Nectar was recommended more than once, so we gave it a try. We got in immediately with no reservations, but to be fair, it was a Tuesday night. Regardless, it was still busy! Our server was helpful and friendly, especially when he pointed out that we just made the deadline for half-off apps! Taking full advantage, we ordered the clams, shrimp skewers, and li'l mac 'n' cheese. Mac 'n' cheese: rich and flavorful. Clams: plump, in an amazingly spiced broth - use your bread for clean-up! Shrimp: best app, hands down (did I mention it's wrapped in crispy bacon?). Entrees: Grass-fed burger and fries was one of the top 3 burgers of my life! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Add the cheese and pickle aioli and you have a knockout winner. Fries are steak fries served with chipotle sauce - smoky with that familiar kick. Yum, hit of the table. Grilled meatloaf was a surprisingly large portion with the most amazing BBQ sauce. Very thoroughly enjoyed - would definitely order again. Needless to say, we felt pretty piggy, but happy. :) And the pigginess didn't stop there! Honey Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée was served and devoured quickly. The caramelization seemed to include the honey, which made it softer (no familiar "crack" of the sugar), but no less satisfying. Ambiance was quaint. Prices were great. We had 3 apps, 4 entrees, 2 beverages, and 1 dessert for $89+tip. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice dinner out. It was a treat!

Yummy local grass fed burgers and fries. Great organic steak, vegetables, and potatoes. Servers are super friendly and the ambiance is perfect for a romantic date! One of my favorite places to be at in Moscow, ID

This is the best restaurant I have been to in the Moscow/Pullman area. The atmosphere is amazing, with a small dining area and twinkle lights. I would label this as a wine bar and they have a pretty good selection of different wines. I believe I had a Riesling on my visit. I am a vegetarian which makes it rather hard at times to order off a small menu like the one at Nectar, but they are quite veggie friendly. I eat fish in restaurants so I ordered a crab cake and their house salad. Both of which were outstanding. My boyfriend ordered a steak that was cooked to perfection and the sides were wonderful as well. I would love if they had a banquet room or a larger area to accommodate larger groups, but the coziness does add the romantic charm. I would recommend Nectar to anyone!

Nectar is an absolutely fantastic little restaurant if you want to dine somewhere romantic and quaint! The unique lighting, warm atmosphere, and shabby chic decor make the place feel so cozy and homelike! The food... ohhh, the food. It's like fancy comfort food. I've yet to partake of something here that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Their burgers are juicy and tender, their spinach salad is sweet and tangy, the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and grilled carrots is flavorful and amazing, and the mac and cheese is so comforting and tasty! The wait for food is ALWAYS worth it. There are only a few things I don't like about this restaurant: 1. Their sodas and water are often barely over room temperature. Once I was served a soda that was bubbling over badly and not stopping before the waitress even set it down! She eventually came back and handed me a rag to wipe the table, but didn't offer to replace the soda - even though most of it had overflown and the rest of it was frothy. 2. Occasionally, your waitress will let you know about their specials for that day, and after you order and she seats another table, she will start telling them about the specials... including some that aren't on the board and were NOT included in what she just told your table. A big disappointment when some of those forgotten dishes sound delicious! 3. Hopefully in the future they will add some sound-absorbing tiles or material to the ceiling. Once the restaurant fills up, it's very difficult to hear what the other people at your table are saying! Despite this, we keep coming back to Nectar again and again. The food and friendliness make up for any hiccups they've ever had in service. I wouldn't recommend it for young children or large groups, but for small groups and dates, it's perfect!

This quaint little restaurant is a MUST if you stop in Moscow. Great place for a date, or a get together with a small group of friends - warm atmosphere, great ambiance and service! For appetizers, we got.. -Lil Mac: cougar-gold mac was just cheesy goodness with the right amount of texture from the baked cheesy breadcrumbs! -Artisan cheeses: Brie, goat cheese, (& one more, I forgot) with honeycomb served with as much bread as you want. YUM cheeses!! However, we didn't expect such a large amount of cheese for 2 people; coupled with the slow pacing of the entrees coming out, I was almost satiated from the apps alone! For entrees we got the honey wrapped meatloaf and grilled lamb chops with couscous, both were excellent! And we couldn't go home w/o dessert:creme brulee (ohhh sooo delicious!) and the flourless chocolate cake with salted caramel drizzle (a small slice but packs a punch)! So glad we discovered this little gem in Moscow!

I was so surprised to find this little gem in Moscow. It was very sophisticated. I did not have a reservation, but they were able to get us in right away (there were only two in my party, but it was handled very nicely.) The waitress was warm and full of information. She made recommendations for us and was willing to talk about the food and ingredients. The menu was varied and covered all aspects that I could hope for. There were great starters, salads, and mains. We started with a well balanced and refined cheese plate. There was a beautiful piece of fresh honeycomb on the plate which was a perfect accompaniment to the blue. My dining companion had the chicken and I had a Caesar salad. I enjoyed my salad, but my companion won this meal. He had the chicken and it was out of this world. The description on the menu did not look like anything special. However, the dish that was delivered to the table was well balanced and an absolute pleasure to eat. After our dinner we were going to have some coffee and desert, but unfortunately, they do not have an espresso machine...but no worries they sent us to their sister restaurant...where... (you are going to have to wait for my review of Bloom to here more!!)

4.5 words for you: Cougar Gold Mac N Cheese. That's all you really need to know. Oh, and the wine is great, too. We love this place and try to squeeze in a stop every time we're in the Palouse.

Unbelievably good vegetables. Skip the wine flight and get the L'Ecole. The mustard has too much cumin. I'll be back!

My husband and I visit here every time we are in the area. When we're away from home for too long we discuss how we can't wait to eat here as soon as we have the chance. Must try the burger, but everything on the menu is delicious.

Friendly service, relaxing environment, delicious local food/desserts, good beer. We had ordered a smorgasbord of sorts which included the following: lil' mac (comforting classic mac & cheese), grilled flat bread pizza (rustic made pizza with butternut squash, caramelized onions, goat cheese), spinach salad (strawberries, caramelized pecans, local spinach), black bean burger (caramelized onions, arugula, sweet pickle aioli). For dessert we tried the local honey creme brulee (favorite) and strawberry rhubarb (both were heavenly) Recommend trying the redbridge beer (gluten-free)! Easily a favorite! Tip: You should sit at the counter and watch Logan make you creme brulee. Also ask for Rayne as your server, he's great.

It was packed and 5 of us jammed in a small corner table. It was sort of congested but we made it work. Charcuterie? Check. Lamb with cous cous and some broccolini? Yes, please. The small chops had a nice sear on the outside and were a perfect medium rare. The cous cous was plentiful and spiked with a sprinkling of fresh herbs and a boost of lemon zest. This was followed by the flourless chocolate cake, which was tasty but a bit dense and dry. It might have needed a dollup of marscapone or something. Still, pretty good eats in Moscow!

I went to this place for dinner on a Tuesday night when they were doing their half off bottle of wine. One word... Awesome! I shared a bottle with my dinner guest and it ended up being really good. I got their vegetarian meatball dish (basically falafel) which was very flavorful and my guest got the meatloaf. I tried a bite and it was really good. Next time I think I'd go with the burger. We did share the apple tart which I would not get again. It wasn't anything to write home about. I loved the ambience of this place but I'm also partial to exposed brick. I'd definitely visit again.

This place is expensive for moscow, its kind of the "fine dining place". We started with the cheese plate which was great. The main courses were not good. I ordered the burger (I'm a sucker for gourmet ground beef), my boyfriend ordered the meatloaf. Both were way overdone. The burger was burnt around the edges, and so was the meatloaf. Meh. Underwhelmed. We made reservations to go well in advance, and they sat us right next to the door on a 24 degree night.

Best Meatloaf IN THE WORLD!!! Of course my husband ordered it, not me. I hate meatloaf, so I thought I would do it safe and order fish, which was great!!! The meatloaf takes the cake though, or should I say, loaf!! Haha, sorry. Their meatloaf became one of the BEST dinners I have ever had. The crust on it is just to die for!!! Not to mention the mashed tators and veggies that come on the side. Mmmmmmm you won't regret this meal!!!

Nectar was refreshing place to dine in Moscow. Prices probably keep the college kids away, unless they come with their parents. Another reviewer wrote something about there finally being a grown ups restaurant in Moscow, and I believe they were correct. Small menu, but great choices. I had the Salmon which was cooked perfectly, the sides excellent as well. The restaurant was busy so service was a little slow. Being there by myself probably made this more noticeable, however if I was with friends I wouldn't have minded much. For dessert I had a English toffee bread budding. All I can say is amazing. I am looking forward to dining here again soon. Will update more later. Good eats!

We swung in for happy hour and left as huge fans of Nectar. We had a meat and cheese platter that was absolutely wonderful!! I love goat cheese and prosciutto so they won me over right away. We also got a side of mac and cheese made from the WSU Cougar gold cheese that was divine. I love that they use mostly local fresh ingrediants. My husband was ecstatic to see they had Bellingham's Boundary Bay IPA on Nitro. This is fantastic and not something you can find anywhere else on the Palouse. They have a fantastic local wine selection that I will going back to try. I can't wait to go back for a full dinner! It's a very intimate atmospher and a nice change of pace for this college town. I haven't sat outside on the sidewalk patio but I look forward too doing so this summer.

Typically excellent Nectar seems to be off their game lately and it still good but not up to their consistent level of excellence that they've been in the past. Primary gripes were relatively fast-paced annoyingly bad techno-ish music that encouraged fast eating and desire to leave, gummy rather than hard top on the creme brûlée, and frustrating lack of cider on the menu. Burger and caesar salads were OK, but meatloaf was still excellent. Hoping that they'll get it back together soon...

The best restaurant in Moscow. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. My wife had meatloaf wrapped In bacon, with chipotle sauce which she raved about. My son and I both had filets which were cooked as requested and were excellent. But if you do anything, try the Mac and cheese, made with cougar gold. They have an appertizer portion which you can share. The best Mac and cheese you will ever eat.

Nectar has been my go to restaurant since moving to the Palouse a few months ago, and Meatloaf Sandwich Monday, has solidified Nectar's place at the top of the food chain in the Moscow/Pullman area. WOW! The Meatloaf Sandwich is perhaps one of the best things I have eaten.... EVER. The only other meatloaf sandwich I have ever eaten was at Hash House A-Go-Go in Vegas, and that was supposed to be amazing. Not so much. That sandwich was dry and bulky, while Nectar's sandwich is melt-in-your-mouth moist, and covered in provolone cheese and caramelized onions served on what I think was a Kaiser roll. For only $10, you get a meatloaf sandwich and a side of either salad or french fries. The salad is killer! Spring mix with pine nuts, pickled red onion and feta, with a vinaigrette. Haven't had the fries, but I'm sure they are great too. Oh, forgot to mention the Meatloaf Monday deal comes with a glass of house wine, or draft beer. For $10?! Can't be beat! Oh, and if you decide to visit on a day other than Monday, the steamed clams, burger, and scallops over a bed of pureed cauliflower, cannot be beat. A BIG thank you to the owners of Nectar for bringing such a gem to the Palouse!

Wow. We ate here on Saturday (at 5pm), and had one of the best meals we've had in quite a while. The atmosphere was fun. The chairs are obviously old, and all mismatched, but the ones we sat in were quite comfortable. The tables look out on the sidewalk and the traffic, so that is fun. The wait staff seemed to be working as a team. Other staff, as they were walking by, would refill our glasses, or make eye contact. If we actually needed anything (we didn't), it's obvious they would have been happy to help us. Our waitress was quite personable and competent. Our water glasses were full consistently, which is our measure for success. (On a side note, I like that the water comes without ice. Neither of us like ice. It felt like we were back in Europe.) I had the $11 flight of reds from Eagle Idaho. It was 3 glasses with 2 oz pours. It went well with the halibut skewers with lemon sauce that we started with. My partner chose poorly on his riesling, but that's not the restaurant's fault. The appetizer was great. Then, on to the main dish, oh, but wait. The chef surprised us with a little bread concoction he made. Apparently he had some dough left over, and he he was trying something on us and another table. It was two heavenly puffy pieces of herbed bread with a carrot and something else pureee. Delightful, and it made us feel special. Now the main course was delightfully presented. I had the Filet Mignon, rare. It melted in my mouth, and my partner had salmon. He too thought it was amazing. Then, time for desserts. We both decided on the peach cobbler, after getting told that the shortcake had just been made an hour ago. I wish I had the recipe for that shortcake! And the waitress made sure to emphasize that the peaches were grown locally. Overall, a very good experience. All of that came to less than $100, including the tip (we tipped at 20%). We'll definitely go there again.

This place is really great! The only problem I encountered was having to wait a little while for a table even though I had a reservation. The food was amazing, I had an arugula salad with beets and goat cheese, filet mignon with green beans and small potatoes, and the chocolate souffle. All of them were amazing. I expected that the filet mignon would be good, and it was, but the potatoes were the part of the meal that surprised me with how incredibly tasty they were. They were among the best potatoes I've ever had. The chocolate souffle is amazingly rich and tasty and comes with ice cream on top. Order it when you order your meal so they can have it ready for you! I plan to go back, even though that will mean taking a bus from Pullman.

    I. Love. Nectar. It is hands down one of the best restaurants in the Palouse. All the food is local, which makes it really easy to support Nectar, even though it's a teeny bit pricey (for a college student, in this area, I mean). The mac and cheese is to die for, and the cheese plate appetizer is divine; it's served with honeycomb! I'm a lover of cow, so I find the burger enjoyable, but the filet mignon is really where it's at. Nectar uses the freshest, most tender, most buttery, most delicious meat I've EVER tasted. And the creme brulee, with caramelized honey (!) on top, is the most perfect creme brulee I've ever had. And I've eaten a lot of creme brulee. Lastly, the staff at Nectar is superb. Everyone is so nice and fun and accommodating. In short, Nectar is one of my favorite restaurants in Moscow!

My wife and I have been here twice now, and both times Nectar has not done a very good job. This last time I ordered a burger, just hoping for a decent hamburger. On the menu it says the meat is ground in house and is fresh. So, I asked. They said, no, it was not ground in house. I still asked for it to be cooked medium rare. The first time it was sent out, it was way undercooked- bloody meat is not medium rare. I sent it back and then it came out way overcooked. The "fries" that come along with it just weren't that good. They are way too thick and must not be double fried as they are mushy and not very good. My wife got the meatloaf. It was dry. The mashed potatoes were gluey (a product of over whipping) and not seasoned properly. For a "good" restaurant, this place fails pretty spectacularly.

I love restaurants that offer only few items on the menu. Everything was fresh. Added bonus to the food was a gorgeous waiter, funny chef, good friend, made it all very intimate and cozy. The only negative: the gorgeous waiter is not available for rental. ;)

Really 4.5 stars...what I really like is that they use local ingredients and their food is fantastic, seasonal, and incredibly affordable! Their mac and cheese is heavenly, I get it every time, as a trip to nectar is now a weekly occurance for me. Their meatloaf...well lets say they'll make you a meatloaf believer if you weren't already! Its wrapped in pancetta with a wonderful BBQ sauce....amazing. Salads are good also. Their skewers are great and their deserts - all AMAZING!! A wonderfu local wine list. I'd recommend the tasting menu, its a very nice compliment to a meal. I go and sit at the bar, the staff is super friendly, along with the owners, and they all make you feel welcome!

Nectar is an excellent place for a date, a nice meal or simply to drink some great wine and enjoy an appetizer. We've come here a few times and the service has always been excellent. The food is great, their seasonal menu items and specials are always interesting and delicious. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to help you pick from their huge selection of wines.

i tried this place a long time ago and forgot to review it. i'll probably update this the next time we go. i heard a rumor they might be moving to another location. my guess is it'll be a little west of paris, if you know what i'm saying. i think this is unfortunate. the atmosphere they have now is perfect for this place. since their focus is wine, the place has a great cellar feel to it. somewhat dark, spread out and a little eccentric. cheese, great cheese. smart sides with the cheese, like honey and apple or pear. like i said, it was awhile ago. i had the mac and cheese as an entree, only because someone else was paying the bill. if not, it would have been the fillet mignon, based on other reviews. The mac wasn't bad. not as flavorful as i would have expected. mac and cheese has a tendency to have a homogenous flavor, and needs spices to keep it exciting. overall, it was good. go with someone who knows wine. i don't, so if it was just me, i would have been too overwhelmed to even decide on a bottle. like i said, next time i go, i'll write a new review.

Nice atmosphere, good food. We sat outside and had salads and muscles and IPAs. The location was happening. The outdoor furniture was spartan. The service was a little over the top. What you get, the whole package, for the $$, did not quite meet my expectations.

Probably one of the best restaurants in Moscow. I was walking by checking the menu and the chef/owner actually came out to talk to me, telling me the specials, handing me a business card, seasonal menu flyer, etc. Now that's cool! Still had a few hoops to jump: 1) convincing my ultra picky eater brother to come here and 2) making reservations (!!!) so he wouldn't get upset if there was a wait. Check and check. I had a glass of the local Idaho Three Horse Ranch Viognier ($8) which was quite tart and tangy. The arugula salad ($8) with roasted beets, walnuts and goat cheese was pretty unoriginal, but the ingredients were high quality. The vegetables all seem to taste different in Idaho, in a good way. Maybe it's the soil? The arugula especially, seemed super vibrant - more peppery than its Cali cousin. For mains we got the mac and cheese ($9), highlighted with cougar gold cheese (local cheese), aged gruyere and parmesean and the halibut ($24) with local heirloom tomatoes and local fennel. The mac and cheese was super creamy and the cougar gold has a nice cheddar flavor. The halibut was perfectly cooked, just a too salty and the fennel saute was a nice touch! The desert was something special: huckleberry cobbler with huckleberry chantilly ($6). I heard chantilly and my ears perked up - this is a desert item in Greece similar to whipped cream. Nectar's version was thick and tangy, almost like yogurt, with big chunks of huckleberries. The actual cobbler's only downfall was its microscopic portion size. Come on, this is Idaho, not Tokyo for chrissake! Overall, really good. Can't wait to come back and try their truffle pasta in the winter. bananawonder.blogspot.co…

Do you remember the satisfaction you felt when you no longer had to eat at the "kids' table" and were able to dine with the adults? I can only imagine that the residents of Moscow felt a similar satisfaction a little over two years ago when Nectar opened giving diners and drinkers a sophisticated option in the college town. Nectar is committed to using local ingredients and their seasonal menu often focuses on popular Northwest dishes. While located just a few blocks away from campus, the menu and wine list have the potential to charm even the most sophisticated pallet. Try the chocolate souffle and try to tell me otherwise. The restaurant offers both outdoor and indoor seating, either of which are ideal. Inside, you will find that the owners successfully married hip and class, without being pretentious. The exposed brick walls, local art, beautiful tiled ceiling and the low light cast from the chic chandeliers invite you to sit back and converse over a glass of Merlot. Whenever I'm back in town, I make a special effort to make it here.

I really love this place. I recommend getting a "flight" of wine. They usually have 2-3 to choose from and you get to sample 2 oz of three different wines in the same family. They usually have a red and a white and sometimes a sampling from a specific winery. A flight is usually around 18 bucks. It is great for people new to wine or that wish to branch out. We have gone and ordered the meat and cheese plate and have a fun little wine tasting several times. It is nice to start a night in Moscow off that way. The service has always been super pleasant for me. Very attentive but not pushy every time I have gone, even when we don't order an entree. I am a student and they have never, ever hassled me. Make a reservation or you will be sitting at the bar... IF you are lucky.
