This restaurant is the estranged cousin of the SuperMex chain in SoCal. The menu and food are almost identical. It is a breath of fresh air for the Ketchum area because it surpasses Despy's as previously mentioned. It is greasy, but delectable. Enjoy a giant silo of beer on the friendly patio and be happy that decent Mex food has finally made it to Ketchum!

We're also a fan of Despo's, but the food at La Cabanita was great. Probably the best Mexican we've had in some time. The service was great and the portions are big. Kids ate off the ala carte menu, since they don't have a kids menu, and the prices are fair. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be going back when we're in town.

The beans and the salsa verde were above average, and the tacos al pastor were also tasty and above average. Chicken a la diabla was okay; I think the shrimp pairs better with the diabla sauce. The tamarind water was way too sweet. Service was spotty. Overall, if you know what to order and if you catch the servers at the right time, this place can be excellent.

It's so great to find a hole in the wall like this in Ketchum. Not fancy, but great friendly service. I've only had the pork carnitas here, but they are to die for! Huge tankard of XX Amber for $6. Lots of patio space too.

La Cabanita...is great..the chili colorado is great..the carnitas are amazing the best I have had this side of the border... portions are huge! the prices are sooo affordable...and the owners,/help/etc...are all nicer than nice...the best mex in the entire county .. watch out despos..we love you but THIS IS SOME SERIOUS COMPETITION ....BTW....order big and take some home.

Really good, very reasonably priced, authentic Mexican food. I had the the crab enchilada, my wife had the chicken mole. Both were excellent. Service was quick and very attentive. Possibly the best overall value in Ketchum, and a superior alternative to Despo's. We will certainly be going back.

Fantastic local place. I am loyal to Despo's, but this place is great and I'll return. I judge Mexican restaurants by their pork carnitas, and here they are fantastic-cooked cooked in rendered pork fat in copper pots, probably with pepsi glazed on. Really nice people. This is not fancy, and the tables and chairs don't necessarily match. Instead, its real.

Just passing through for a convention and found this place on yelp. I can not stress how amazing this place is. We were greeted with a smiling face, a big basket of chips, and a plate of beans. Delicious! Didn't take long to take our order and our food came out within 15 minutes. I had a Carne asada burrito with green sauce. The sauce had amazing flavor, the meat was moist but not mushy, and the size was perfect. If I ever come back to Idaho I will most definitely be back.

This is typical Michoacan Mexican food, which means somewhat boring with a tendency to overcook beef. If you shop for beef in the Michoacan markets, you understand why. The chicken is freshest at lunch. Many landscapers and tradesmen eat lunch here. Good staff, good attitude.

If you are in search of good Mexican food in Ketchum / Sun valley, you need to come here! Had the $2.75 fish taco (a la carte) yumm! Fresh fish, lightly battered. Great guacamole and salsa! Hubby had the super carne Asada burrito! Thumbs up- it had rice and beans and lettuce inside. Also friendly happy staff:)

Just got back from lunch with a large group of 4 adults and 6 picky kids - ages 5-12. We ordered fish tacos, huevos rancheros, chicken and steak fajitas and carnita tacos. Everyone cleaned their plates. The food and service were both great! We'll definitely be back. I highly recommend this place for families. There is something for everyone.

Fantastic food. It was a few dollars more expensive than Mexican food usually is, but still way cheaper than everything else in town. The tacos were the best I've ever had, and I still think about the cheese enchilada at night sometimes. Definitely would recommend.

Went here based on other reviews on a Monday evening, on the early side. Full size tortilla chips, beans and salsa to start were better than your typical Mexican restaurant, especially the salsa which was fresh and had some kick without being too hot. My fajitas were ok, the veggies great but the steak and shimp a little dry and over-cooked. My wife had excellent fish tacos. The kids had burritos and tacos which seemed decent standard fare. The service, though reasonably friendly was quite slow and became an annoyance after awhile - despite the lack of many other customers. The outside deck seating was ok, on a quiet street, but did not make for a memorable experience.

Ok food, pretty good service, but the cold beer got it the stars. Based on all the suggestions on here we ordered the pork carnitas. They didn't live up to the reviews. Ours were dry, with little to no flavor. They bring beans with the chips and salsa, good when you're starving from skiing all day. Very decently priced but probably won't go back.

Best Mexican food in Idaho. Carnitas are unreal. Everything is authentic and all ingredients fresh. Pollo Al la Crema is also very tasty. If you are really hungry try the Tampaquena plate. Ask for Armando, he'll take care of you.
