Was sceptical coming here based on the reviews I had read here on yelp. When we pulled into the parking lot it was full of local patrons (we were here on vacation). Anytime I see a place packed with locals I get excited. We walked in and were greeted right away and taken to a booth. The menu was perfect size with several breakfast options. I did a 3 egg bacon omelet and it was PACKED WITH BACON!!! I MEAN PACKED FULL!!! it was delicious! My wife had the sausage omelet that was great as well. My son had a single pancake (that was the size of his head!!!!) with a side of bacon, which was very tasty. The staff was great and I know why the locals come here every morning...because it is great! Oh and the prices can't be beat! Trust the locals!

Although the prices were great and the service was friendly the food was underwhelming. My French dip was made with very thin meat and the au jus was cold. The French fries were soggy and lacked any flavor. The salad bar had ice berg lettuce and no additional vegetables, it was accompanied by cottage cheese, potato salad, pasta salad and a few random toppings. Not by any means what I would call a salad bar. The other members of my party had better luck with delightful onion rings and a large cinnamon roll.

This is the locals restaurant. Most everyone in the place was known to the staff by name. This is also where the local law enforcement eats. We had the BLT and the Iron burger. Both were tasty and what you would expect at the local diner. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. One point off as the food was pretty basic fare and the prices are a bit higher than you would expect. Overall a good experience though and we would come back if in town at meal time.

So, we stopped in on our way through because the place had decent reviews but if this is the only thing Kellogg has to offer they're doomed! Where do I begin, the carpet was disgusting and the service sucked! The food was ok at best, bland, the fries were under cooked and the side salad was some lettuce thrown on a plate with some slices of tomatoes that were browning, could at least add a crouton or a slice of cucumber. The fry sauce was bland, we weren't even told about the soup/ salad bar or the specials & the waitress's climbs on top of he counters with her dirty shoes to write the specials on the board. We will just keep driving next time.

Food tasted like old grease. My order was not prepared as ordered. Waitress didn't even write it on the ticket, so it wasn't the cooks fault. I won't be going back.

Sam's used to be our favorite restaurant when we visited Kellogg, but it has changed over the past few years. Their recipes have changed and the quality of food has gone down. Last time I ate there, I ended up with a severe allergic reaction to chicken strips. They are either using breading that contains tree nuts or sesame or their oil is contaminated. I have had chicken strips there many times so they need to be more careful about food preparation. Very disappointed because we used to love to eat there and now have to avoid it. Lots of good options in Kellogg to try before Sam's.

SAMs always has had the best wait staff , could use another waitress they are runnin a lil thin , but the ones that are there treat ya like family ! Defiantly breakfast is the best meal ( served all day) hamburgers are huge and way too many fries lol , dinner isn't my favorite meal there , but one can always have breakfast or a huge burger for dinner ! I send all of my out of town friends there , or take them myself

Great breakfast, and OMG the cinnamon rolls! Huge and awesome! Service good, your basic diner. Food good, it made us happy.

Great breakfast stop. The Eggs Benedict is a big plate but man is it good. Worth the sit down meal

This is an over priced restaurant with terrible service.... the owners are rude. The servers all seem miserable, and do the bare minimum that their job requires. I will NEVER return to this restaurant. I had the french toast and it was over cooked, the bacon was undercooked. the coffee was old. I am so unimpressed that I would like everyone in the world to know that this establishment is not worth your hard earned money.

A good place to eat breakfest, they have french toast to die for. Also, the place is well decorated and makes you feel like you are in a old fashioned diner. The staff is also very friendly and willing to have a conversation!

I've been here twice while passing thru on trips to Montana from the Portland area. Passed on eating a few times before because it looked like a drive-in where you sit in your vehicle to place your order and eat. Finally decided to it a try and was pleasantly surprised that they had close to home cooked menu selections and reasonable prices. Both stops I was very pleased with the food and the portion size of the meals. Definitely will stop again on the next trip to Montana!

A little slow service, but their breakfasts are awesome and never fail to satisfy. If you have a little extra time, skip the McDonald's down the street and eat here; you'll end up spending about the same amount of money with much more (and better quality) food. Very reasonably priced.

We stopped in to Sam's for breakfast while on a road trip from Washington to Montana, preferring a hot meal to a grab-and-go at the start of the day. The waitress greeted us and quickly took our order. Then we waited, and waited...and waited. After 45 minutes, I asked the waitress whether our orders had been started in the kitchen. When she confirmed with the cook that they hadn't been, we opted to cancel our order to get back on the road. The food that other diners were eating looked good, but we just didn't have the time to invest. I just have never encountered another diner that operates at such a slow pace.

Tasty, hand pressed lean burgers, from a local rancher, with just the right amount of seasoning on them served with good fries = a rockin' burger. If you have room, order one of their awesome shakes, especially the huckleberry when in season....fantastic. Also, they have good breakfast burritos, and this place seems to always be packed with locals. The staff is always smiling and service is always good. When I'm in the area, either form riding the Hiawatha or camping in Montana, I always stop here.

Very welcoming staff. Nice comfortable diner. Good for breakfast and accommodating when you are extremely hung over. A little small so don't expect to seat a party of more than 5 at one table. Good food!

I ate breakfast at Sam's and it satisfies as a roadside diner. Actually, it's a bit upscale in appearance - more like a Denny's - but the wait staff are warm and welcoming, with a nice sense of humor. Very much appreciated at 7 am. The food was . . . okay. Scrambled eggs were folded like an omelet with nothing inside. The hash browns tasted a bit like the oil in which they were cooked. I asked for them to be prepared "crispy" and they were, more or less. The toast was ordinary. I'd eat here again, next time I'm in Kellogg. I'd never eat in this restaurant, if it were in Seattle.

I was torn between two and four stars but I couldn't give them less for the inattentiveness of the wait staff. I had the Chicken Fried Steak. It was in the top five of CFS I have had. It was hand breaded and pan fried to a golden brown. The gravy was simple but decent. My sunny side up eggs were overcooked but the hash browns were crunchy and a huge pile. The wife had a Garbage Omelet that was huge but I am not so sure I would order it. I will say the bacon in it was nice and smokey. The wait staff while friendly paid less attention to you then an ex-wife. After seating ourselves we waited for about ten minutes before she took out order. There was two tables with a total of five other customers. One wait person spent most of her time talking with one of those tables while the other one was behind the counter stuffing her face. Too bad really, it was reflected in her tip. But I will stop again as the CFS was great.
