This place has a great location and wonderful food! Their specials are always really tasty and their swimming angel, chicken with a peanut sauce is wonderful. Their beer selection is always on point and they have a full bar-- a perk that their sister restaurant in downtown CDA, Moontime, doesn't have. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because the service is kind of hit and miss. Everyone is super nice, but it can just take a long time. All in all, a great local stop!

We went to porch first time and were very disappointed. It was slow, but we had wait for 15 minutes (with an infant) before someone came to our table. All the servers were looking at our table and were just ignoring us. And it was 4 servers at that time and it was pretty slow! You never ignore table with little baby!Usually I am very mellow because I am working as server too, so I know how it is. When finally waiter took our beverage order, we were looking at tables who came after us- they already had beverages and appetizers!! After we finished our meal we had to wait another 10 minutes with pile of dirty dishes on our table. And servers were just chatting to each other! I would never go back and wouldn't recommend porch!

I've always had good experiences with this place. The food is tasty and the service is decent. I love the SantaFe Chicken sandwich and the Moon Burger with corn pasta salad.

Food is excellent. Don't miss the daily specials. We didn't have it but everyone was having the Mac-n-cheese. We had the bratwurst and chorizo plate with cheesy hash browns. So yummy.

This was our first time here.. I have to say we were not pleased at all. Our waitress took forever to get us menu's and drinks, then we ordered and our waitress never checked on us agian and she passed us like 7 times I needed my coke refilled and I had to stop her and ask her, we were sitting right by where the waitress printed tickets and she acted like we were invisible. Finally we got our food we had no silver wear another waiter had to get it for us and my husband's french dip was good but I ordered a thia chicken meal with a peanut sauce and it was horrible it seriously tasted like they took peanut butter out of jar and added spices. This was a horrible experience. I am kinda bummed because u heard such good things.

Great food and I really appreciated how they substituted foods for my heathy eating. I really wanted the sautéd mushroom and bacon potato patties but they substituted the cranberry salad. Most places will only sub a basic salad. The food came quick but the service when we got here was slow and it was slow to pay the bill.

Absolutely love this place. Been coming for years and I've never been disappointed! Tons of beer on tap, wine and full bar. Best Santa Fe chicken, moon burger and daily specials are usually a surprising treat! Can not miss this place if it's an option!

Awesome food like usual. Great service. Good atmosphere. Always consistent. Need a baby changing station in the bathroom. That's the only hang up.

Their onion bread is to die for! I loveeee it! I also love their Santa Fe chicken sandwich, has the perfect bit of spice and lovely amount of sauce... Cheesy, saucy and a delicious pepper too! My other fav is tortelloni pasta which is so yummy! Can't go wrong here.

Double thumbs up! Highly recommended. I had the Classic Reuben sandwich Great flavor on toasty rye bread...the perfect combination/pairing. With the sandwich, they served a healthy portion of corn pasta as the side dish. If you are in town or CD'A, be sure to check this place out! Very friendly staff/waiters/cooks.

I love this neighborhood place. Good food, good beer, full bar and consistent. My kiddos love it too. And they always remember your name. Sometimes crowded and service slow but worth the wait!

Great food, reasonable prices, unique amiance. It is a log cabin tucked between 2 golf courses, in a primarily residential area. Summers out on the porch with the glass garage doors lifted are very special. Now that it is December, it is still cozy to be inside a warm log cabin looking out at the snow. I have allergies, and they have been great at leaving those items off. I have eaten here at least 25 times, and had slow service only twice. My husband loves the beer rotations!

We have been coming to the Porch to eat for 7 years and have always been happy with the food and service. We had an opportunity to go out to eat this last Wednesday which we don't get to do much because of finances. We chose the Porch because we hadn't been there for awhile. When we went in I immediately notice it wasn't very crowded , not the usual. I also mentioned to my husband that the place looked runned down. We ordered the pork chop special and after waiting for at least 30 minutes we were served 2 paper thin chops. I was shocked. After trying to cut and eat them, I let the waiter know the chops were like a piece of leather and please take the meal back and bring me the pasta special believing it was already prepared and could get it served to me right away. No, another long time waiting and another disappointing dish. .. pasta with partially cooked large pieces of onion in it. We got our bill and discussed with the waiter our disappointment with the whole experience. After recommending we not have to pay for my dinner, which he didn't want to do, he returned with it off the check. I feel that the waiter is under pressure from those in the kitchen who are not doing their job. WE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK FOR A LONG WHOLE UNTIL WE HEAR YOU HAVE GOTTEN YOUR ACT TOGETHER. We are not the only ones who are sharing negative remarks.

Glad we were told about this place. It is tucked into the Hayden Lake area, so you wouldn't know it was there unless you were looking! We went twice on a recent trip with both our kids and it was great! Menu had plenty to offer, even for a 3 year old. Bar area seemed to have mostly regulars but all welcomed us with a smile. Great beer/wine selection, great ambiance, will definitely be back!

Awesome place! Only complaint is they randomly select items and change the recipe! Since they've done this twice to my favorite entrees, I haven't gone back!

Cute little place hidden away by the golf course. Our waiter was very nice and the food wasn't bad. Very American, you can find salads, sandwiches, burgers, just classic stuff. They were more than happy to alter my salad a bit and my husband liked his santa fe chicken sandwich. Prices are really reasonable, but I am also coming from a high priced Seattle, so take that in to consideration. The restaurant was clean, there is quite a bit of seating both indoor and outdoor.

We've been going to the porch for years! Always great food and service. My husband LOVES the reuben and I always lean toward the chicken sants fe Sandwich. So good. Yesterday on Mothers day I was craving a yummy sandwich with their awesome corn pasta (homemade) We came in and it was busy but we have seen busier. We sat our selves which is normal it is seat your self. You never get greeted at the door and directed, you walk thru awkwardly looking for an empty table. we sat our family of 5 down and usually within a few minutes we have a waiter or waitress acknowledge our existence or drop menus off. Yesterday we sat for 10 minutes no "hello well be right there" or " hey guys Ill be right over. We had 2 waiters walk by us multiple times and 1 waitress walk by us NO ONE said Anything. no water, menu, hello, NOTHING! We got up and left and not sure I we will be back. There was another couple that came in right as we did and sat at a table by us and they didn't get served or acknowledge either, not sure how long they sat or if they left too.

This is just my favorite place. I've eaten nearly everywhere in cda/hayden and my heart always come back to The Porch. For one, it's the ambiance; you're sitting in a cross between a garage/sunroom/restaurant tucked away on a hidden golf course in residental Hayden. Cool in the summer evenings, and small enough to be cozy when it snows. The beer selection is great and ever changing. Always something different and local to try. They've always let me sample a few to find one I love. The food is just icing on the cake. I've loved everything I've ordered. Salads, pastas, and the sandwiches are out of this world. My dad claimed the chicken sandwich to be the best he had ever had (and he's had a lot). My usual, and absolutely perfect meal, is the lamb sandwich with pasta salad. The lamb is tender and piled on. Not much else but herbed butter on a toasty large roll. Melts in your mouth. The southwestern pasta salad is absolutely addicting. Creamy and spicy, I am SO glad they have the recipe on their website. I could eat it every day.

We love the Porch. Favorite dishes with a twist. I've been dozens of times, with my family, with just my spouse, or with a group of girlfriends. It's a local fave.

This is my wife and I'd favorite date night place. The service is excellent the atmosphere is great and we absolutely love the food. I love the potato pancake things that come on the side of the entrees. Who doesn't love fried potatoes with bacon and cheese. We will be down there this weekend come by and say hi!

The porch has some of the best food in the CDA area. Menu is unique with the signature dish being the lamb sandwich. They also always have great draft beers on tap and keep special kegs rotating through. This would be a 5 star review but the only draw back is that the service is AWFUL. It's extremely slow and often times can be rude. They think being sarcastic and trite makes them seem more down to earth but they couldn't be more wrong. And since the porch is filled with "regulars" the staff will get way too preoccupied with talking and will completely ignore the other people. However, the food and beer is enough to make me look past it.

Always a favorite local spot! Each time I go there is new amazing items to choose from on the specials menu. Huge beer selection and the usual items on the menu are always perfect. Sitting on the patio is the best spot in the whole place and make sure to order the cheesy Gorgonzola onion bread- it won't do you wrong.

  • Dan R.

If you are from out of town the porch is a great place to try. It is mostly a local hang out that is hidden away between a couple of golf courses. The service is always excellent. The food is good and the specials are usually better. I didn't give it 5 stars because I get tired of the regular menu if we go there too much. It can get very busy, parking is limited and that's when the service can slow down but that is to be expected. Try the gumbo it is very good and the Rueben sando is awesome and huge

I love this place! Not only is the food wonderful, but the service is excellent. I am vegan and you can sub out any meat with tofu. They have a wonderful smoked tofu that I love! None of that mushy stuff. They also have a red lentil burger that is my favorite I get it without cheese and mayo. Still amazing! It's such a cute place and we often take people visiting here because the food is great, drinks are great and service is awesome!

The Porch is an incredible place to grab a bite and a drink, in both the winter and summer. My wife and I have been frequenting this place at least monthly since we moved to Hayden a few years ago. Not only is the wait-staff fantastic, but the atmosphere is relaxed, fun, but not as loud and annoying as Capones (talk about an earache!). The Porch's location is unlike anything you'd expect. Set right on the edge of a golf-course and situated in a predominately residential neighborhood, The Porch draws lots of locals who are just dropping by for a quick drink or a bite. You can tell the regulars because they know the staff by name and don't even need to look at a menu - their favorite beverage/meal is brought up without question! This is the perfect place to bring friends, kids, family, anyone. We have a 6 mo. old and he loves to watch all the folks that come through. The laid back atmosphere makes my wife and I comfortable bringing him around without worrying that folks will judge us for having our baby on hand! Some of our favorite items off the menu are their French-Dip sandwich, Mexican Salad (can't remember actual name), Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich, and their regular burger. Be sure to come early - this places fills up on the weekends. Wait time for food is typically minimal. They do have two smaller TVs around the actual bar, but it's not designed as a place to catch a sports game. This place is made for enjoying friends and meeting the locals. One note: they don't accept American Express, so make sure you bring cash or Visa.

Last weekend, while home for a visit from Seattle, we decided to go out for dinner the night I arrived in town. As it was my nephew's birthday, we gave him the choice of where to eat and he chose the Porch. Since I knew that it was a sister restaurant to Moontime (a restaurant that I've enjoyed going to in the past), I felt confident in his choice and knew what to expect. Sadly, I found the Porch to be rather disappointing. While it clearly stated that we were to seat ourselves, as there were seven of us, we felt it best to ask someone to assist us with seating rather than moving the furniture about ourselves. The restaurant itself was busy; however, not inordinately so for a Friday evening and there were plenty of open tables which could've been combined. For whatever reason, the request for a table for seven took an inordinate amount of time for the staff to accommodate. Clearly restaurant table Tetris is a difficult task for the employees of the Porch. After we were finally seated, we received four glasses of water for a table of seven. This oversight is one that the waiter -- who, in other respects, did an admirable job and (thankfully) did not refer to us by the dreaded 'you guys' -- should have noticed and remedied immediately but did not. I, after tiresome delays at SeaTac, needed a drink and so picked up the cocktail menu on the table to see what house libations were on offer. Apparently, rather than offer cocktails developed for mature and discriminating palates, the management at the Porch has decided to cater to what I can only describe as frat boy culture -- uneducated "bros" who buy sickeningly sweet drinks to get their unsophisticated girlfriends blotto so they can get them in the sack. Despairing, I set the menu aside and ordered a pink Tanqueray and tonic. While the staff didn't know what the devil a pink gin is, it's easily made and not beyond the skills of even the most inept bartender. Weirdly, I had to ask for limes as these were not included with my drink. As for the food, I think this is why "meh" was invented. The plating of my food was really strange. Instead of the nice full piece of lettuce with tomato and onion, I had a sad scrap of lettuce with a shriveled pepperoncini resting upon it like a Republican's ex-wife who has been traded in for a younger model. Tomato and onions there were none. Further, I'd ordered my burger medium rare. Instead of being nicely pink inside, it was a solid grey. My father, who'd ordered the same thing, noted that if we'd ordered it rare, we'd have likely gotten it medium well. Overall, I can't say that I'll rush back to the Porch the next time I visit. It was a disappointing experience and was not one which I'm in a hurry to repeat.

My wife and I were really excited to come here. We've heard tons of good things...those things appear to be seriously over hyped. Service was painfully slow. It took 5-10 minutes before we could flag down our waitress to get drinks and 20 min after that before they came back to get our order. We repeatedly tried to get someone to help us, but nobody seemed to care. Our waitress checked on other tables near us, but appeared to actively ignore us. Our service was a 0/5. I had the santa-fe chicken sandwich. It was OK, but I could make something this good at home. The potato salad was above average. My wife had the salmon cakes...They were OK, but she wouldn't order them again. They came with potato cakes which were somewhat dry. Overall we were majorly disappointed and won't go back. The only saving grace is that the prices are reasonable. Overall, Food was 2/5, service was 0/5, and value was 3/5....combined 1/5. Our recommendation is to go somewhere else unless you enjoy slow service.

If you aren't a local...or lost, you will never find this place. Situated far off the beaten path, I was meeting a friend here. Sure my GPS had gotten me lost I was getting ready to call my friend when I spotted a flash of red neon beckoning me up ahead. I bravely moved forward to find a neon hot spot in the middle of a residential neighborhood. I pulled into the parking lot and headed inside, unsure of what to expect. It looks like a cross between a house and a log cabin with lots of neon but, when you walk in, it's kind of like walking into cheers. Everyone is friendly and smiling and you can tell the the people working here truly enjoy what they are doing. The bar selection is a little on the small side but, they make up for that by having some truly top shelf selections for what they do have. In addition to good liquor they have good beers on tap...not a huge selection but, good beers for a small choice. The food is great, unfortunately I don't remember what all I had but, I left very happy both times I came here. The service is spot on, the wait staff was johnny on the spot with refills and very responsive if you had any questions. Quick to smile and quicker to help. Overall, my two visits here were extremely enjoyable and this will definitely become a regular spot for me when ever I am visiting CDA.

Good food, good service ishhhh. But the lady that served us food was very rude and was so fake. She seemed nice at first but in the middle and the end of our lunch, she was rude. When we asked for boxes to take our leftover food with us, she threw them and it landed on the food while she was talking rudely.

Make sure to get directions to this fine establishment, located between the Hayden Lake Country Club and the Avondale Golf club, I always seem to get lost trying to get there. But that is part of the beauty, this restaurant is in the middle of a residential neighborhood, away from all the hustle and bustle. During the summer this in one of my favorite destinations. They have outdoor seating and a full bar. What could be better than having a few drinks and great food on the patio watching summer unfold in all its beauty? On to the food - this restaurant is part of the group that consists of The Elk, Moon Time, and the Two Seven Public House, so you know that they will have the great favorites known to be found at each location. The Moonburger is one of the best deals in town, you get the burger plus a side. Try the great pasta salad, it has a creamy kick to it from the chipotle mayo and a hint of sweetness form the corn. The serving is big enough that I usually end up taking the pasta salad home for another meal. The chicken soft taco is also a hugh portion and tasty too. You get a side with this entree as well. The potato salad is pretty standard but if you're sharing with someone its a good contrast to the pasta salad. I could go on about the other great items they offer but I'll save that for my other reviews of the Elk, Moon Time and Two Seven. Check those out if you are interested...

Good food in a mellow environment. This place can get crazy busy sometimes, especially when the weather is nice. However, if you're in no hurry, or show up early, the crowds won't be too much of a problem. The menu is fun, and their specials change regularly enough that you won't get bored if you go there often. Some of my favorites are the Swimming Angel, the pork tacos, and the gumbo. They have a full bar, and usually have some interesting beers on tap, including one beer on nitrogen typically. If they have it, I'll normally order the Old Speckled Hen English Old Ale on nitro. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quieter, less touristy venue outside of downtown CdA.

I visit Idaho now n again. I'm worldly like that. I have eaten the best tacos in the world, so I can be picky to rave on tacos. The pork tacos here came recommended by my friend. I will save you from a mediocre experience. They were pretty tasteless (no extra salsa? Didn't ask but you should) the chunks of pork could double as rawhide balls. Theres an odd sauce that's kinda mayonaysie, and topped with lifeless Verde sauce. Our order was to go, but this looked like a quaint lil place to eat. For the lady I got a chicken Caesar and by all reports it was "good." Same basic problem here, it was lifeless. I am going to say, judging strictly on food, its average but eating in may be a completely better experience. I'll return to try another menu item, and I believe some of the sandwiches will be far better. See ya in a couple years, keep working on your game.

My two favorites here are the Ploughman's special (great sausage and mustards...) and the Gumbo. As my friend and mentor Jimmy Buffett says: "A piece of french bread with which to wipe your bowl- Good for the body, good for the soul! It's a little like religion and a lot like sex- You should never know when you're gonna get it next! I will play for Gumbo!" Always a great place to take family or friends, the Porch has a nice, casual atmosphere and really really good food.

Because of the great things that everyone said about the Porch Public House, I decided to try it for my last night in town. I was surprised to find this little log cabin surrounded by golf courses and houses way off the beaten path. The place was full when I went it in, but we quickly found a table. The menu is very varied with sandwiches, salads, fish, tacos, etc. The beer menu has common Northwest beer varieties but nothing too unusual. The food I tried, which included the Lamb Sandwich w/ potato salad and the Tortellini, was fantastic. I would recommend this place to anyone.

By far a better layout that the Elk or the Two-Seven. I've always loved the food that this small chain serves. The roasted corn pasta salad is oddly enough my favorite part about the whole place. The small hint of chipotles in a light mayo sauce isn't overpowers and don't feel like i'm ingesting a load of fat every bite. The lamb sandwich also highlighted my afternoon with my buddy and dad. The tzatziki sauce that comes on it, compliments the meat like no other. Will definitely go back to the porch as its closer to post falls and the layout is condusive for a good time with friends. Service was great and the wait for food was minimal. All this leads me to give this place 5 stars.

Generous portions, fair prices, attentive service. I had the French Dip sandwich with potato salad. Very fresh and loaded with meat. My wife went with a half cranberry salad and a bowl of seafood chowder. The soup came with three large chunks of french bread, My son opted for the moon burger with a side of the corn roasted pasta salad. Burger was good size and the side of pasta salad was ridiculously large. All came in for under $30. Nice location off the beaten path, but not too far out, Dining area is comfortable and decorated in a bit of log cabin theme, without being too woodsy, Located in between two golf courses so maybe I'd describe it as pub/cabin/golf theme...

I love the porch! It is my favorite restaurant to eat at. Great service, great food, and the prices aren't bad at all. It can get pretty busy in there especially after women and mens golf nights. I recommend the bbq chicken quesadillas, the Ruben, or the chicken ceaser soft taco:)

Neighborhood Pub and Restaurant! Food is always good, my favorite is the Salmon Cakes which are back on the regular menu...yahoo! Reasonably priced meals and great service, and close to Avondale Golf Course and Hayden Lake! Patio dining in the summer time makes it a popular place to dine and meet friends. Highly recommend.

We love this place. We dont live in the area but every time we come up to visit we stop by the porch. I wish I can say much about their food, but we usually stop in for the drinks. The resturant/bar is nice and the staff is friendly. They have some pretty good drinks too. Maybe sometime we will eat ther and I can give 5 stars.

Excellent food! (and we are California foodies). Great service from a really nice guy who knew all the locals by name. Split shared dishes into two plates in the kitchen - always appreciated! Nice outdoor space in back (except for the poor neighborhood dog who barked the whole time we were there - poor dog must be tortured living next to a restaurant full of people he doesn't know!). Good beer selection.

Fabulous Reuben. Thai chicken was also excellent. Martini was filled with crushed ice so seemed watery - we have experienced this lately other places so it might be a new method. Lots of draft beer choices. Good service though every table was full.

My favorite restaurant in the area! Sister restaurant to Moon Time in CDA as well as a handful of great places in Spokane. Chicken Caesar soft taco, corn pasta, gumbo and south western taco salad are my go-to's but you can't go wrong at this place. Also the Porch has fresh squeezed grapefruit juice for their greyhounds:) check there website wedonthaveone.com for amazing daily specials and directions to the sister restaurants!

If you don't have a GPS, give up, go somewhere else. If you do have a GPS, then by all means go. All kidding aside, it really isn't that hard to find, but it is a bit out of the way and way off the beaten path, but if you are looking for a nice, out of the ordinary place to have a good meal, or a beer, then boot up the GPS and get on down the road.
