Stopped into pendls specifically because of the yelp reviews. Latte-totally awesome Coconut German chocolate brownie-delicious Lunch-Be Aware!! Lunch is over at 2pm Sadly we missed lunch by 5 minutes, arriving at pendls at 2:05pm. The barista said the best she could do was cup of soup or pb & j. (Thus my 4 stars, as a former barista I really think she could've been a little more accommodating...) So recap- Lunch is over strictly at 2pm!! Enjoy it for me, because now I'll never get to!

I double dare you to pass through Driggs and not be tempted by a Pendl's pastry. Just look at those pictures and reviews. They are so accurate. Other than some minor frustration finding it based on the street address, we could not be more pleased. If you come in from Depot Street, it is hidden from view, a long narrow walkway aside a commercial building that leads into the Adventureland of Coffee and Sweet Treats. We discovered later there was more than one way in, a large parking lot on the backside if you enter from the next street over. The building is a cute little, bright red house, with an outside patio and doggie parking under the trees (that's what they call it because dogs are not invited into the eating areas, yes, even outside). Inside is a small counter, mostly with display cases filled to the gills with sweet and savory pastries and cookies. A childhood dream come true. And then there is the eye catching list of coffee drinks. The smiling girl at that counter will take good care of you, even if you have a husband who thinks he must try one of everything. Our breakfast consisted of sharing a spinach quiche (lovely crust), a ham and cheese filled pastry (quite flaky), two mocha lattes (smooth even with two shots of espresso), an apple strudel, and a few nibbles on a raspberry cream cheese pastry. We had to rent a small Hertz truck for the remainder of goodies we left with. I shall be needing a tailor by the end of this trip!

I'm officially addicted. Great food, but better yet...great people. Martha is super sweet...along with the pastries. Glad to make this part of my daily routine when I'm in town. You've missed a big part of Driggs if you didn't eat here.

The best quiche and blueberry pastry to start the day with. Planning on coming back tomorrow to try more.

I visited Pendi's almost every day while vacationing in Driggs. A very simple and cozy ambiance with nice outdoor sitting area, lot's of locals from whom one can find cool hiking spots and local attractions. They serve gluten free options on select items, the pastries sell out fast so best to go in the morning. Simply a very pleasant experience.

if you find yourself in the teton valley and don't stop at pendl's, then you have missed out. we got there later in the day, just after eating lunch in victor, but i had seen the reviews on yelp and had to check it out. the pastries were beautiful, the girl behind the counter pronounced their austrian names well, and explained what they were even better. a coffee and many pastries ended up being a little over 20 bucks, but we got a lot of variety. eating them was the best part. simple, flavorful, beautiful presentation--nothing wasn't good. the coffee was great, too. they ship during the holidays. this is a cost and luxury you should indulge in, knowing that your product was made by nice people who trot out something different and special. do not pass it by.

Okay, on the subject of Danish Pastry. They are tricky, at best, and so variable from place to place. Too big, too small, too wet, too dry, flavorless, under-proved, over-proved, poorly filled, cheaply filled, over glazed, under glazed - so many variables. And they are one of those dishes that are either right or they are wrong. Pendl's gets them so right. Yeasty and substantial and well-filled and well-glazed - we had lemon-filled, cherry-filled and raspberry cream-filled and we loved them (in that order.) Their savory ham and cheese filled pastries are some of the best I have ever eaten and their turkey, cranberry and pesto savory pastry is as wonderfully delish as it is unique. Their chocolate pumpkin bread is solidly well-made (and they give you a very hefty slice of it - really the equivalent of two slices anywhere else) and their German Chocolate Slice is rich with very moist coconut on a dark chocolate cake base. Their spinach quiche is encased in an impossibly thin, well-baked pastry case and is served in the perfect size - sort of like a medium sized muffin - likewise their bacon quiche - savory, yes, but also very, very light. Quiche can be quite heavy, as you must be aware, but these have a gossamer filling that will remind you of an angel's wing or perhaps the wing of a dragonfly. And their sausage and summer squash quiche is off-the-charts magnificent. Again, encased in that remarkably thin and perfectly cooked pastry case (no soggy bottoms here) and the squash adds a note that is most unexpected and effective. Their chocolate mousse cups topped with dark chocolate on a little bit of puff pastry (or just a lovely bit of crust really) are just what they ought to be - all about the flavor (not the quantity.) They are so rich that what might seem on the small side at first turns out to be more than generous. And their glazed cookie topped with slivered nuts with a bottom dipped in dark chocolate is great, I tell ya, great. We ate their food three mornings in a row. We would have done more but we had to return to L.A. This place would be well-worth a trip from Jackson Hole - we happened to be staying in Driggs - but even though a drive through the spectacular Teton Pass could be it's own reward imagine the added bonus of Pendl's at the end of a journey. (I would have included the fabulous Teton Thai as a bonus as well but there is another location in Teton Village. Don't miss Teton Thai. I have two words for you...Bison Pho!)

This place is a "gem". Fabulous stop if you are interested in a light breakfast. So far, I have had their quiche, banana nut bread and latte's, which are out of this world. If this isn't enough to lure you in, during the summer months, on Sunday, from 9am to 11am, they have music in the courtyard. A perfect way to start the day. They do serve lunch which I hear is wonderful, but I have yet to try.

Very high quality. I would not have expected it in this small of a town but this place gives any big city bakery a run for there money.

  • Jean M.

This place is wonderful! They make good coffee and tea, and have a variety of non-dairy options for people like me who are lactose intolerant. The quiche and pastries are great - I tried both the raspberry walnut muffin and butternut squash quiche, and they were delicious and filing. Prices are good, and the setting is very welcoming. Easy parking on both sides. The ladies behind the counter are friendly. This is a must for anyone visiting the area!

Lovely spot in Driggs. They make a good cup of coffee and have a wonderful selection of homemade pastries. The quiche was fantastic, flakey crust with squash and sausage. The ladies behind the counter were so sweet and helpful. Definitely a must go to spot in Driggs.

This place was amazing. Friendly staff, great food and nice atmosphere. I had the homemade granola with yogurt and berries and it was very good. We will definitely be going here again on our next trip to Targhee.

Definitely my new go to breakfast spot in Driggs. The service is awesome and the vibe is very friendly/cozy. Coffee is the standout with two shots of espresso in every drink. I also got the glory bowl, oatmeal with crisp green apples, cranberries, and cinnamon. Literally fall in a bowl. The morning glory muffin and banana bread are also winners. We will for sure be coming back!

Was just passing through on a lazy Sunday am after deciding my knee was too sore to go out and romp around that day, and I loved this place! I had a couple of Americanos, which were excellent, a bowl of fabulous homemade granola, yogurt, and berries, and an apple strudel to top it all off. There just happened to be a couple of guys on guitar and fiddle playing outside in the delightful little side-yard, and I sat there in the most perfect zone in half-sun, half-shade, with a chill buzz of a small crowd around me, enjoying every bit of my breakfast. The staff were all super-friendly too. I wish we had a place like this in Corvallis!

You have to love an authentic German bakery!!! Yumm!

    (5)
  • Roy A.

Martha and crew do wicked German pastries. It's what you expect at an authentic German bakery, using recipes personally brought over from the Old Country. For those who think they're too pricey, you'd better check out Jackson Hole, just over the hill. But here's the real deal. I'm more of a scone and muffin man. Still, the trip to Pendl's is worth it for the espresso ALONE. I haven't been everywhere, BUT, of the places I've tried, Pendl's makes the best espresso in a THREE state region (Montana, Idaho, & Wyoming). And, look out Seattle, cause in my opinion the Pendl's folks could take you on, too. UPDATE 10-29-13-, I now have to qualify my unqualified endorsement of Pendl's espresso. Pendl's is just as good as ever, but a week ago I had a latte at Coal Creek Coffee Company in Laramie that matched Pendl's. Pendl's beats CC for price, so to save a quarter, drive on to Driggs. Otherwise, the latte is great in Laramie, and you get it five hours sooner!

This is the most AMAZING foodie stop in the surrounding area unless you go to SLC's Tulie Bakery which is French anyway. These ladies and gents do it right! The pastries are superb, natch, but the house made granola, yogurt, and berry combo is pretty fantastic too, this coming from someone who can't stand granola, or plain yogurt. Every time I'm visiting Jackson, I make a beeline for Pendl's.

Don't let Driggs' small town vibe fool you on this one. This is a gem buried at the "backside" of town. Absolutely adorable, very up-to-date coffee and pastry shop. Beautiful outdoor seating in the backyard (not sure how that works in the colder months), good coffee, excellent individual-sized quiches, good pastry. If I lived in Driggs, I would definitely make this my morning workplace. Highly recommend.

A little slice of heaven! I spend my summers in teton valley and im always looking for a good latte. I finally found one at Pendl's! In addition to great coffee, their pastries are incredible (morning glories are my fav) and the charming out door patio is a perfect place for a coffee date with a friend or just to plop down and read a good book. Love this place.

I lived in Driggs for a few years off and on and the number one thing I miss is not the mountains, the small-town atmosphere, or the skiing. I miss Pendl's. The atmosphere is five-star. It's in a little A-frame off of the main drag with a nice front porch and an even lovelier little backyard area. The shop itself is tiny and warm and hand-lettered and cozy -- and please pay attention to the pictures on the walls. I have eaten soup here several times but I can't exactly remember it enough to describe it. I can only say that it was delicious. The pastries are all top-notch, especially the linzertorte cookies. I inevitably go for the tiny jam sandwich cookies with little hearts in the middles, though. Three is the perfect number to eat in your car on the way up to the mountain. If you're in need of more sustenance, grab yourself a B.T.N.D. (better the next day) paper bag. I survived off of these little bags of pastry goodness when I lived across the street (especially the morning glory muffins, which I tried, and failed, many times to replicate). Really, though, what does it for me is the coffee. Outrageous. I don't know what they're doing (one of my roommates used to work there, I should have asked), but it's unbelievably good. I am not a huge fancy-coffee drinker, but a latte from Pendl's was always worth a big chunk of my food budget for the day. When the snow is falling, there's no place I'd rather be than curled up on their bench seat with the New York Times (a mountain town luxury) and a latte (not on the mountain -- guess that's why I didn't quite cut it as a ski bum...) (sigh) I'll be back, someday....

  • Pen T.

Their pastries and desserts certainly are good but for these pricey treats, I would expect for them to accept credit cards. Those little chocolate mousse tarts, whatever the name at the size of a man's thumb, for $2 each isn't worth the effort to stop at the ATM.

Was in Wyoming/Idaho from California for a few hours yesterday and stumbled upon Pendls after turning into the lot to take a photo of a restaurant called "Latino Delight" - didn't get a chance to see what kind of food that is! Great pastries, lunch menu looked outstanding (we'd already eaten by then) and the place is so cozy and warm. Feels like home but better cause' the place sparkles but I don't have to do the dishes or mop the beautiful fir wood floors. The yard outside is equally impeccable with the cool firepit and I could see being there with a large group of good friends. The bathroom is charming :-) Agree on the coffee - strong without being burnt or bitter. My teenager and I enjoyed ourselves there while she worked on a somewhat stressful essay. Being at Pendls relaxed her quite a bit.

This little gem is the best thing that has happened to driggs since they introduced the traffic light. Pendl's is one of my favorite bakeries. The pastries are divine and the coffee is strong. I am addicted to the lindzertorte.
