Allways quick service. A little mom and pop joint that has been open for 50 years or more. The food not 5 star, the place is usually empty as most of us locals grab it to go. 5 minutes after ordering I'm out the door with my 3.75 star food at under 10 bucks. That's a good deal for me

Always a welcoming atmosphere and great food! We are served quickly, politely and taken care of without being pestered. The food is always top quality with a slight different flare from the usual Chinese food. Seared Ahi or Dragon Steak are things you won't want to miss!
Good food and fast but the service wad lacking!
Great food, both American Traditional and Chinese. Has entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights from 7pm to 11pm.. Also has a full bar. Very reasonable prices. Wonderful people and great staff.

Gem In & Out

I had the number 1. Hamburger with cheese and ham Burger had good flavor. Lots of fries.
I judge all burger joints by the king of all burger joints, The Viking Drive-Inn in Boise. The Gem is one of the better burger places I've been to. It's not at "Viking level" but dang good. This little mom and pop place has a great greasy spoon atmosphere and super friendly service. The Gem burger, which has a slice of ham and cheese on it is a great old school burger. It's no Eric 2 from the Viking but it's damn good. Excellent stuff....with places like this I can't imagine why any proud American would bother going to a chain burger place.
This place is a childhood staple. I have been going here for as long as I can remember, excellent burgers and fries for a very reasonable price. Also the chocolate milkshakes are out of this world.

Hamburger Connection the

Reviews:
Been going to the Hamburger Connection for over 20 years. And I had to drive over 900 miles from Phoenix to visit them this time. The only thing that changed was that the fry sauce now comes in little packets. Love their mile high shakes, hot dogs, burgers, tater tots and more. And by the way, this little place had a line of cars about 6 deep going through the drive-through because they are way better than the name-brand franchise across the street.
They have the best hot dogs! You have to try it! My cousin came down from California, and we took her to the Connections and ordered the hot dog for her and she fell in love with it. She always talks about it every time I bring up about hot dogs. She wants me to send her one all the time, but unfortunately I do not send it to her. Lol. But, I love their chocolate with banana shake. They are the best! Love their sauce, that's their secret of great food.
Best burgers in Caldwell! So yummy!

My favorite pizza around. Pizza is my favorite food and I think of myself as an expert. No matter how many others I have tried one still rises to the top....Garbonzos!
Worst experience ever. I only live 2 miles away and had to wait an hour+ for my mediocre food that was only supposed to take 35 minutes. By the time it arrived the ranch was all over my wings and the pizza crust was soggy from being in the box too long. Never again.
This is one of the best pizza places I have ever been too. The pizza and the sandwiches are both amazing. Their dough couldnt get any better.

Janitzio Restaurant

Mmm the most authentic Mexican place I've been to in Idaho so far. (Which isn't saying much because I've been here for less than 2 months. Or is it... as I did my undergrad at San Diego...) This place has that hole in the wall atmosphere where you are a little apprehensive about the cleanliness, highly skeptical about using the restroom, but still can't wait to taste the food. Prices are very reasonable and start at around $6 for lunch for a combo platter. You get beans and rice with a tostada, burrito, tacos, enchilada, or a few more options. The amount of meat was more than I expected inside the taco / enchilada, and the rice / beans were flavorful too. I tried the combo plate with a beef enchilada and chicken taco and guacamole. I got chicken everything, and no guacamole. Service isn't fantastic, but it's 3 people running a small place. The people there were apologetic about it, and didn't try to charge me for it at the end. Many choices of Jarritos (including pineapple), and I think I saw a Hibiscus flower drink. Check out the Mexican bakery a few doors down-- it's great and you get 3 items for $1! I'd review it but don't have the address.
One of the best Mexican restaurants in the valley (I've lived in Idaho for 31 years and tried many recommended by others). This is the real deal. Try the seafood chimi, it's my favorite here. My husband loves their Carne Asada. Maria's fish tacos are wonderful too. Honestly, I haven't had anything I didn't like here. They are a small family operation, mom cooks and her daughter waits tables, well worth the wait, if there is one. Authentic Mexican food here.
Drove to Caldwell just to visit this restaurant. This webpage said they were open. Arrived at 3:30 pm Friday 1/2/15 to find a closed sign in the window. I am not sure if they are still open for business as the building looked dilapidated.

Jack’s Drive-In

Reviews:
I like Jack's. It has a feel of an "In and Out Burger". Great great great fry sauce. I got two extra for my burger. It was a cheat day, and I wanted small town, local, fast, gut bomb. Some things could have been better, but keep in mind, I had 3 single burgers, large fry , and a small coke for 14$. Also this meal was for two. I didn't go hog wild. I wish I would have gotten double burgers, as the patties were small. I knew I should have went with the curly frys as they looked better on someone else's plate than on my standard frys, and I wish I would have gotten a shake cause they looked great as well. Guess I'll have to go back. Highlight was the fry sauce. Not too sweet, not too ketchupy.
One Top Notch drive inn. Best burgers and menu items in the area. Friendly and family owned.
As a young boy in the 70's I would traverse the alleyways of Caldwell picking up tin cans with friends in order to get enough (.25) for an order of Gems. Aka tater tots along with the fry sauce. I remember sitting in the small and intimate ordering area several times in anticipation of that golden deep fried goodness that McD's could not match. On a good day yielding bountiful aluminum finds I would also order a jack burger as well. My younger siblings always wanted to visit this place too and when I felt gracious I would bring them home some of that golden deep fried treasure. I remember getting my bike tire fixed or aired up right next to Jacks too, I think is a Big O tire now. There used to be KFC a block away which never was an option for me. The pubic library is right around the corner so after filling up on food I would go and look at the monster books of Godzilla, Frankenstein and Dracula. And those giant Charles Schultz Peanuts comic strip books as well. When I watched the movie Super 8, I thought of this wonderful place. Don't miss this place if your in the area. It's not nearly as good as I remember it from over 30 years ago. I think the menu has more than what it should. I might give it less than 4 out of 5 if not for those wonderful memories from my childhood.
