This Mexican food was better than I was expecting! I ordered the Carne Asada and I thought the steak was flavorful and well-cooked. Such a step up from the neighboring fast food joints. I would have given 5 stars were it not for the fact that the service is notably bad. Our waitress never once checked in on us (so I never did get that extra guac and milk to soothe the burn from the peppers haha), and I'm still waiting for her to come take my debit card off the edge of the table as I sit here typing, and it's been more than 5 minutes.

The margaritas left a bit to be desired, especially at $8 a piece. The food was decent and you get much more for the money. A big bonus is that is within a short walking distance from the Best Western and the Fairfield Inn. So, have as many of those $8 margaritas as you want, so long as you can remember which direction to walk. I wouldn't tell anyone to avoid this place, but I would definitely want to try to other Mexican options in this town before heading back to the Caporal.

About what one could expect from a restaurant in this area. Salsa was good, chicken chimichanga was mediocre, mole chicken was over sweet but good with onions and mushrooms. A fine place to stop and eat if you need to.

This place was great. We had 14 people, 5 kids and 2 high chairs all at one table. Service was prompt and exact. No issues with orders or refills. Everyone loved their food. The favorites where the chimichanga and chili relleno, but the best by far was the melted cheese tacos. Very good. We will be back.

Well I have to admit this is some decent Mexican food and being from Texas that is saying something. Flavors are good - sauces are good and chips are good. Service is a bit spotty but solid - and I ate here 3 days out of the 5 I was in town. I would recommend this restaurant and with the serving sizes there is plenty of food and I mean a lot so you can take some back to your room or share.

This is by far, our favorite place to eat in Burley! Great food, great service and squeaky clean! Cecilia is the best!

Decent. The food is standard Mexican. Nothing over the top. The portions are generous however. The combo meals are a pretty good deal and come out piping hot. The service was slow however. Our table was checked on once throughout the entire meal and I had to flag another waitress for boxes. The food is decent and the service could be a lot more attentive. It's all in all ok if you just want to get your Mexican craving filled.

El Caporal is always a great place to eat. Tonight, 8 of us (4 adults and 4 children) had dinner here. The food was good but there was a mix up with the order in which our plates were prepared. The four adults had our food while the kids waited almost 15 minutes for theirs. It was relayed to us that the kitchen staff was a little mixed up. Either way, it worked out fine. Our server, who was a doll, apologized and comped two of our meals before any of us said anything. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

First off, the service was good. As for the food it was not that great. Maybe we ordered wrong but I was expecting the food to be much better. The chef person needs to make some changes to the recipes. The salsa that comes with the chips & salsa was super hot. I like hot salsa but to an average person it would be over board. Next we got the appetizer Chicken Nachos. The chicken had no season. It was just dry boring chicken. It like they just threw a chicken in the oven and backed it. not very tasty. Next we got two combination plates --- chimichanga & enchilada. The chimichanga was soft like a burrito; not crispy and the ground beef was like a mush with taco flavoring. Not very good. The enchilada was the same boring chicken. My wife got the enchilada shredded beef and the tamale pork. The shredded beef had way too much taco seasoning stuff on it, tasted gross. The pork tamale was ok. The food was fresh nothing rotted just they need new recipes.

My husband had just finished his first triathlon. Spudman! He was hungry. We love mexican food. this place was clean and had great service. The food was excellent. We had steak and chicken fajitas. Delicious! The address wasn't where google maps took us. It was actually located near the mcdonalds on 394 overland ave.

Sorry, but the bay area bias (spoiled with so many mexican options there) came out again after having the 3 combo plate here (taco, enchalada, and tamale). It's decent, but not great, although it's the first mexican restaurant I've been to where they give you chips with salsa AND beans...which was nice because salsa was a bit spicy for my taste.

Stopped here based on Yelp reviews at the end of a long drive across Nevada and Idaho, heading to Wyoming. The food was OK but not great, however, very good for filling up on at the end of a long day. The atmosphere was very noisy with lots of kids running around, big parties of families in the back, and loud music playing. It also seemed like a "date night" kind of place for locals. Definitely a popular local restaurant. I had a combo plate with a tamale and chile relleno. The tamale was tasty. The relleno was way too full of cheese, I kept pushing the cheese aside to taste the pepper. Side of guacamole was very small, but I'm used to California portions where avocados are plentiful. Next time around, I'll try another restaurant, but this one wasn't bad.

Burley is somewhat of a desert when it comes to healthy food options, especially if you're a vegetarian. We ended up eating at El Caporal. Clean place. Good service and food. Mexican beer on tap. Will eat there again when we come back to Burley -- not that there are many decent options.

Ate here while staying at Best Western (walking distance). Food was great, atmosphere quiet, and staff friendly. They start you out with chips, salsa and beans. I had the Carne Asade, and it was good. My family enjoyed their chicken enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, and burrito as well. Well priced.

Out of two Mexican restaurants we tried here in Burley, this was by far the best. I give it a 3 because it doesn't offer anything you can't find elsewhere. Staff was friendly and very accomodating, and place was very busy during our meal. Obvioulsy it's a favorite amongst the locals as well.

this was right next to our hotel and within walking distance, when we walked in it was VERY LOUD with a family that took up 3 tables.... which I think was unusual. Upon sitting sown we received Chips, Salsa and Refried beans, the salsa was too hot for my daughter and wife, but the flavor was not bad with fresh cilantro and chopped onions. After ordering we waited not very long and they brought more chips and salsa for free (usually $1 re-up) Shortly after the large table was served our food came. The food was Average Mexican fare... the Chimichonga had guacamole and sour cream on it and was Very Tasty. The Chili Relieno seemed to be stuffed and covered with Mozzarella cheese which was a bit strange. The Green Chili sauce was Great! ~ They had a kids menu that was good for only $5... After eating we were also brought free desert for the wait which my daughter loved! Overall great service, good food, I would eat here again although for mexican food it was a bit pricy...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
