Now I'm not giving this place 3 stars because it's in BFE Iowa, it's all in context, people....all in context: truckstops and diners in the Midwest, god bless 'em all. I love truckstop/diner food and I know what good greasy Midwestern truckstop food is supposed to be like and this ain't it. On the last leg of my trip, I stopped off in BFE to see an old childhood friend and since all the local places in her town were closed, we had to go out to the interstate to grab some grub. My friend had the chicken Caesar which was mediocre at best (and this was expecting over-doused salad). And since I was in Rome (or central Iowa), I did as the truck drivers would do and ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. The burger was a frozen patty (which is expected) but cooked (or dunked in grease) so that it was the greasiest slab of frozen meat that it could ever wish to be. And the fries? I WISH they were frozen Ore Ida. They were soggy and just poor excuses for fries. Now I know I'm not being harsh because I've been to a billion greasy spoons and had great burgers and fries. Well, don't fret, dear friends, I still inhaled the entire platter. So as far as the food, it's a 2-star. But it's cheap, the coffee pot is an abyss (and super cheap), and this kind of place is where the real "Flo" type waitresses work. I really think she might of told me to "kiss her grits." So 3-stars for that!

I'm a little biased because my grandmother, God rest her soul, worked here for many years and we would always have to stop in here at some point on any extended visit. That said, this place is basically the epitome of what a greasy spoon interstate truck stop is supposed to be, in terms of food, ambience, service, prices, or whatever measuring stick you care to use. The highlight for me has always been the hot roast beef sandwich (fries on the side, not mashed potatoes glopped on top, thank you very much!). I mean, the place has a life-sized totem pole out front. Just out there for no reason other than to be seen from the interstate. How awesome is that? What more do you people want?

My family and I stopped here before shopping at Tanger Outlet Mall across the street. I wasn't feeling like eating heavy so I had a small Caesar salad and the chicken noodle soup, it was so yummy! They also had a nice selection of hot teas! Would definitely come again and recommend to others!

Came here on a Wednesday at 7 on a recommendation from our hotel. Its in a gas station/convenience store. We walked into chaos. Food was piling up at the pick up station, there were plenty of empty tables, but no one would seat us. I could see food waiting there for a long time with no one to deliver it. The people in front of us walked out and after no one acknowledged us for a long time (even after they seated the new group ahead of us), so did we. If it looks busy, stay away from here!

Drove through here on the way to Omaha. We thought we'd stop and get a good meal. It took about an hour to get the food. The soup was good but the rest of the meal was sub par. I would recommend Arby's next door.

Waitresses are not very friendly, and every time I go there or order takeout my order comes out wrong. I've even had a waitress whine and make a rude comment to me about not tipping her enough last time (I left $8 on a $25 bill), and I left her nothing that time after the comment. I waitressed myself for 2 years, and the service is generally good/poor. Food usually takes about 20-30 min to come out. Food is okay, but nothing special.

If you are going to the outlet mall, skip the fast food and stop here for a great meal. It doesnt matter what time of day it is, you will something amazing on the menu. If you look at the dessert case you wont leave without trying something. Personal favorite: supersized cinnamon roll.

Our waitress and service was great! Too bad the food wasn't. Mediocre at best. The special, Catfish, was bland and the coleslaw runny.

Bring a flyswatter! We were seated at a booth in the main area in front of the kitchen (as opposed to the dining room in back) and were immediately swarmed by flies - at least 5 or 6 just at our table. Kinda gross. That said, the food was good. I ordered a pork tenderloin for the first time in years and it was delicious - the breading was really good and it wasn't greasy as I was expecting. Prices are reasonable - sandwiches are $7-8 and come with two sides - I had the fries - not good or bad, just fries; and a caesar salad. Although the lettuce had a bit of brown, I was pleased that the dressing came on the side and wasn't drowning the salad. Service was average. Since this appears to be the only restaurant (other than Subway) at this exit, I would recommend it for a quick bite if you're passing through on I-80.

Ate lunch here Saturday with a group of 8. Very good service and the food was excellent. It is trypical of an interstate diner, but I tend to favor places such as these over the corporate owned places you typically see. The pies here are amazing. Definitely worth the stop.

A Broasted Pork Chop to die for! Yum! Nice sized portions and very friendly and attentive waitress made for a satisfying evening meal. This was much more than we expected from a gas station restaurant!

Pleasantly surprised. Typical type diner in looks but food and service were really good. They serve breakfast all day. Chicken fried steak was really good.

This place just went through a major overhaul and remodeling this fall. They now feature a breakfast buffet, flat panel TVs, and they now serve wine & beer. It still has huge portions and they still turnover tables pretty fast.
