The Pour House

The Pour House in Waverly, IA has been a staple in the community for the past eleven years. Home to the largest American craft beer selection in town. The Pour House is known for its great service and beautiful murals that line the walls. A hot spot for the locals, with a large outdoor patio for those warm summer evenings. Life's not so bad at The Pour House.

I normally wouldn't think to give a subway a five star review. But I was so blown away with the friendliness and service of the person who help me today I couldn't help but give her a five star. I went and picked up subs at about 415 so kind of early for the supper crowd. But I was going to take him back home to Cedarfalls and didn't want to battle the traffic at supper time at home. A very nice woman greeted me upon arrival. I'm so sad that she was not wearing a name tag. I would love to recognize her by name. She was shorter middle-aged and had dark hair. She was so personable friendly made eye contact and smiled was a model employee. She asked about my kids talked about her kids it was much more then a traditional sandwich making experience. You can tell she enjoys to work with the public. Just her attitude excitement her smile and her laughter made it a very nice exchange. The restaurant itself was a typical subway. It was clean and smelled like the fresh-baked bread. I only encountered this one employee while I was there but she sure rated high with me. I hope that if anybody reads this goes to the subway they also get to encounter such wonderful and friendly service.

Hands down the best subs around and the staff is always friendly! You won't be disappointed!!
I spent the first 12 years of my life in Waverly. Growing up there were no subways around where we lived. We always frequented the sub city in Waverly. Now it has moved location since they built the Walgreens but I tell you not a lot has changed. And that's a great thing. I stopped into this location about 730 on a Wednesday night. I was very happy to see that they were still open till eight. All of the sub cities use the same menu. It's ordered by number and you order a half sandwich or a whole sandwich being a foot-long. I got a number 14 half with the works. The works are what they call a standardize list of toppings but you can choose all your own toppings. There were two ladies working when I arrived. There were no other customers in the building. I was greeted immediately and offered assistance. I ordered and one started slicing the meet and the other started with the toppings. I love that they slice the meat and cheese to order and not in advance. They very quickly and efficiently had my sandwich ready rang me up and I was on my way. The place is in fancy although it is located in the old train depot which adds a lot of character. But it's not about the ambience it's about the good quality food. The sandwiches and meet are very fresh and very tasty. There is tons of meat on each sandwich. For $6.50 I got a sandwich and a bag of chips. Super great deal.
Excellent subs! Best in town hands down! Always makes a great choice when you are super hungry

My favorite place in Waverly to get a drink. Nice dart board and pool table placement. Upstairs lounge area, friendly bartenders, great jukebox, and great drinks. Dogs are welcome also! This is the place to be.
Awesome with a capital A. In every sense of the word.
I love this bar! I've been a proud member of their mug club for almost a year, and it's so nice that I get discounted drinks every time I walk in the door!

Duos Coffee & Ice Cream

Potent and balanced espresso in a quaint little town. The barista happily made me two Italian-style macchiatos even though they weren't technically on the menu. Prices are fantastic, like you've travelled back in time ten years. Service was as friendly as it gets (although what else did you expect in a tiny Midwestern village?) and street parking was easy as could be. Duos is an exceptional provider of delicious caffeine. Pay a visit when in Waverly and you will be very, very pleased.
I'm truly grateful that Waverly has a place like Duos. Although I'm not a coffee drinker, I've enjoyed everything else they have. It's a great place to meet people or get some work done. And the ice cream is excellent! My only complaint about Duos is that their Wi-Fi doesn't always cooperate with my Mac laptop. I have no problems anywhere else, but for some reason, the Duos Wi-Fi won't let me connect about 25-50% of the time. But Jim, the owner, or the barista working will reset the router for me and that usually fixes the issue for me.
Love the atmosphere! Delicious frozen yogurt and other treats! Best coffee spot in Waverly for sure.

Great place to eat. Had the chicken lasagna one night and smoked prime rib tonight. Nice find while looking for a place to eat while in town from Seattle. Two words, Corn Chowder. You have to have it when you eat there.
Great food! Beautiful surroundings! It's the best place in waverly! Reservations are recommended for the weekends but Waterstreet grill welcomes any and all walk-ins and does their best to accommodate them!
It's disappointing to see negative reviews about Waterstreet Grill here on Yelp because my experience has been the opposite of what the other reviewers have experienced. I have only lived in Waverly for 2 years, but I've been to Waterstreet about 6 times. Each time my food has been amazing! Staff has always been positive and happy to serve. Environment has always been comfortable. I moved from Kansas City where I enjoyed some great restaurants, and Waterstreet Grill is just as good in my non-expert humble opinion.

Stopped here in a Saturday night - we are from out of town. The sign says "seat yourself" there were 7 of us and we could only find 2 tables to split us up. The waitress said she would get us a table together or if one opened up to one of our tables, she would pull them together- she totally forgot that, let other people sit- we just sat separate. Bottom line, service is terrible. One table ordered and got their apps ridiculously fast before we even got menus. I had to remind our waitress to bring my water 3 times. We then got our food where our other table still did not have their entree's. My waitress forgot my ranch dressing- I told her a didn't want it and to make sure she didn't charge me for it- she said she would get me it and I said "fine" - she never brought it. Our other table still never had their meals- bottom line, the waitress forgot to put in the order. I got my check- she CHARGED ME FOR THE RANCH! Made her take it off. Our other table had to get another waitress to take their money becuz theirs was busy leaning on the bar chatting with friends. Food was just ok- burger seemed no bigger or better than a basic fast food chain. Won't choose here next time in Waverly
Ate here on a Tuesday at noon. Took my grandma out for lunch with my dad and we had never been here before. My grandma called it the biker bar but she wanted to try it. When we walked in we were greeted with some very festive Halloween decorations and a very nice gal told us to go ahead and seed ourselves. The place was really decorated up with lots of Halloween decorations. We sat in the booth over at the corner by the wall that was painted all with chalkboard paint. There is a cool mural of a haunted house in chalk on the wall. A nice gal took our order and got us our drinks right away. There were only probably for other tables full with customers. They had three waitresses in one bartender. So they had more than enough staff. To the point where I feel like they just stood around and talked to one another. I ordered the mushroom Swiss Burger. It comes with wavy chips on the side unless you pay more for a different side. They had some really good side options such as beer battered fries and onion rings. My grandmother got the soup of the day and a side salad. The side salad looked really awesome and even had eggs and veggies on it. My dad got the nacho appetizer as a meal and it was huge. It had all the fixings including taco meat cheese olives jalapenos sour cream and salsa. My burger was delicious. It was cooked through and very juicy. I would definitely consider eating here again.
Soggy microwaved food- less than attentive server- I'm being generous with the 2 because I really liked the food from the owners other place- I hope it was just a fluke thing, because it can't stay open selling food like that.

Cliff’s Place

Cliff's is the only establishment in the community of Horton, well, besides the Baptist Church. Under new management, they are serving breakfast starting at 6am. It isn't the most extensive menu (this isn't Perkins, etc), but they have egg, hashbrowns, meat, toast combos, omelette combos, oatmeal, cinnamon rolls and the like for a very reasonable price. I ordered 2 eggs, hashbrowns and toast for a grand total of 3.75...yea. A loaded omelette with hashbrowns and toast is 5.50. Mom and I stopped in (they live only a couple miles away) on a Saturday morning for breakfast and there were two tables of a game of 500 going already. The menu also has a variety of lunch sandwiches, some dinners, and appetizers, and they do a fish fry on Friday nights with a salad bar.

Be aware, cash/check only. But there is an ATM at the corner Kwikstar. In town for soccer and wanted to find something that was open before 11 on Sunday. The best breakfast in Waverly sounded appealing and since I've not had breakfast anywhere else here I have no reason to disagree. The skillet was very good and so were the boys' pancakes. The pancakes are HUGE so yes, one is enough. Not the best coffee but it was ok. Good service and a very quaint breakfast diner atmosphere. Prices are what you might expect, very reasonable.
I'm not a coffee snob, but I don't think you should be able to see through the pot of coffee. My wife's biscuits and gravy were bland and cold. Pancakes were not on today's menu. Not a very good value for mediocre food and terrible coffee. If this is the best breakfast in Waverly, remind me to sleep in and wait for lunch next time.
Best breakfast in Waverly! This is the place to go For your pancakes, cinnamon rolls, French toast and more. The building is small, so you may have to wait.
