Had the all you can eat wing special on Wednesday, big, meaty lots of sauce selections excellent. Wife had the shrimp feast, 18 shrimp served your choice three different ways. Daughter had the parmesan crusted tilapia, huge piece of fish lightly breaded and flaky. All in all this was an exceptional meal and johnnies has been added to our list in a very high position.

I finally found a restaurant with fabulous Prime Rib! My husband had the Walleye (he got 4 large pieces in his order and for $2 more could have upgraded to AYCE) and gave me a bite leaving me wanting another bite-delicious! I upgraded to the salad bar and loved there were so many toppings to add to it. Also had macaroni salad. Hubby had the smoky bacon soup and said it was great. The view was great of the Iowa River. Dining room was nice and clean, very roomy - I don't like when I feel like I'm sitting with the next table. Waitress was very attentive. Can't wait to go back!

They have a nice view of the river but that's about the only good thing. I recently went there with my family and I orderd shrimp. It might be a different cook, but I thought the food was very bland. I tasted the chicken and it was very dry and chewy. My uncle gave me some of his wall-eye and it was very soggy. And to top it off, they wouldn't accept my gift card! The manager came out and my uncle had an argument with him and the manager said we should have received the remaining amount in cash when we first used it, but on the fine print the card said NO CASH BACK FOR VALUE OF CARD. What the heck?

Wow, where do I start? Decor - a mixture of Americana dive in the dining room and half-assed upscale prime steakhouse in the bar. I liked the old signs hanging around, but it clashed with grandma's curtains over the windows. I am sure the view of the river is nice during the summer months, but it was dark when we visited and this probably detracted from possible charm. We ate here two nights before X-mas and I don't know what their normal dinner rush is like, but I don't think they were ready for this Thursday crowd. We were seated within a few minutes and it took a lonnnnng time before they asked about drinks and brought them. We ordered a bottle of wine and they couldn't find it, so we chose another and it took another 10 minutes to bring it out. Obviously the servers have no idea how present a bottle of wine; she just set it on the table with some dirty wine glasses and left. We also did not get water unless we specifically ordered them. Seriously? Do you think I am just going to drink wine with my meal? I had the fried catfish - it was supposed to be all you can eat, but the fillets were so big, two filled me up. However, she never even asked if I would like another fillet. My wife had the fried walleye. Both were excellent and prepared perfectly. I had a piece of my sister-in-law's steak, and it had a great char-grilled flavor and was pretty tender too. The salad bar was very basic, but the worst part about it was the lettuce. They washed heads of iceberg ripped them into fourths and chucked them into the bin. Sooooo whitetrash and a real lack of effort here to impress. How about several kinds of greens for your base? Conclusion- A typical mid-western restaurant made to serve the needs of the locals with no concern for patrons with higher expectations. I know us "big city" folk can be food snobs, but put a little more effort into the little details! Good food, prices, mediocre service. BTW, I had to laugh at the very end of our dining experience. They charged us for a glass of wine instead of a whole bottle!

Johnnie B's One of the best things about the place is the view, an amazing view of the Iowa River. The inside of the place was a little confusing one wall looked like a Cracker Barrel the other wall was more like an Italian restaurant. It didn't work well with the view of the river. The service was not good at all our waitress had a scowl on her face most of the night. However I did enjoy the girls they had who bused the tables. Parking was a bit of a problem not the amount but the fact that you had to park behind the place and unless you work really hard at keeping up the place, the back side of a restaurant is usually not good. This was no exception; I'll leave it at that. However the food was very good. The salad bar was mostly just lettuce but anytime I sit down to a lettuce salad and think to myself that was good that's saying something. I really enjoyed the Thousand Island dressing. Teresa got the French Dip it was good but too salty. I got the walleye and hash browns. The hash browns lacked any flavor at all but the walleye was exceptional, it was by far the most popular dish of the night see what was coming out of the kitchen. This was breaded and I am slowly moving away from breaded and deep fried fish, as far as breaded fish goes some of the best I've had. I was very happy with the portion sizes, should have taken some home. We were in a group of 6 and everyone seemed to enjoy the experience and said they would return.
