Very clean bathrooms with heated seats and bidets!!!!!! Didn't eat in the restaurant however, I peeked inside and the salad bar looked and well stocked, the menu was comfort food, and I'm regretting not grabbing a bite as we drive away.

This is definitely one of the better truck stops we've stopped at. From heated bathroom seats with a bidet, and a cute shopping area to a great restaurant this is a good place to stop! We shared the whiskey sirloin with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were fresh and delicious!

Remember how I said that I love restaurants that are in truck-stops? Well, apparently I don't love all of them because this place was a major disappointment. The one exception about this experience was that our waitress, Aubrey, was phenomenal. She was quick, efficient and had everything handled nicely. My husband and I sat at the bar and first noticed how small the selection was. I really didn't want a heavy steak and baked potato for lunch but couldn't find anything else that appealed to me. I decided to order the NY strip steak (cooked medium well) with a baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly but was not seasoned at all. Not even with salt and pepper. When you have to add ketchup to your steak just for some flavor, you know you're doing it wrong. The baked potato was basic and didn't come with shredded cheese or chives. What?! Now onto the real problem. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan penne pasta and from the first bite, he was disgusted. The pasta was overcooked so drastically that it was as if he were chewing pasta flavored bubble gum. The chicken inside the pasta wasn't completely deboned and he kept biting on pieces of bone. After telling our waitress, and after speaking to her manager, we were only refunded 7$ of the 12.99$ price tag. I'm assuming it's because of the one bite he took. Sorry to say it, the Sapp Bros store is neat but I'll never be back to eat at the Apple Barrel restaurant inside. I'd rather eat Taco Bell.

Give stars just for the commode alone...When my baby tells me where we are pulling over at the smile on my face! We have been all over this is the first truck stop with a Bidet..the souvenirs are great not to expensive. Restaurant is very slow at night 3 people at the counter 6 tables taken and 1 waiting for a Togo order...no food coming out so if you are hungry this is not for you 25 mins for what

The absolute BEST truck stop restaurant ANYWHERE! (disclaimer, I have only been to like 5 truck stops ever.) Amazing food. Lots to look at in the store. Great prices. Love to stop here and eat EVERY time I am in Nebraska City.

I stop here every time I'm in town for Memorial Day or Labor Day, and I'd have to say it's one of the better restaurants in the area. They serve breakfast all day and prices similar to Village Inn or IHOP (maybe a bit pricier), they have an all-you-can-eat salad bar, but I wasn't too impressed with the selection available, and the other food on the menu is definitely better so unless you are craving a heaping plate of cottage cheese and macaroni salad, I would say stick to the menu. The breakfast food is very good, and the service is VERY fast. It took about 5 minutes for me to get my food. The entrées are good and often come with heaping plates of sides, so you never leave hungry. Since the primary purpose for this restaurant is a truck stop, I think it's fair to say you are definitely getting plenty of food no matter who you are. The waitresses are all kind, but don't seem to go out of the way to go above and beyond for customers, but I have no complaints. All in all, if you're in the area I would recommend the Apple Barrel because I think it's fair to say it's the best in the area.

I certainly enjoyed my time at this location while traveling northbound to Omaha and the Council Bluffs area. The staff here is fun to be around, breakfast is mmm mmm good exceptional, and the venue itself is very clean. I haven't quite grasped the small bar concept as of yet, but I'm getting there. The pie is actually very good, even in the morning. Try either the chocolate or the coconut pie. Can't go wrong at this location in your food choices.

Unfortunately our stop here wasn't a favorite. We have been here before and food was decent, no complaints. This time however the food was cold and almost seemed precooked , then the credit card machine was down and we had no wifi inside restaurant but, instant wifi available in the parking lot . The waitress was very polite and efficient thankfully

It's probably the best breakfast in the area-- but considering how low the bar is, that's not a rave review. If you don't stray too far from pancakes and sausages, you'll be safe. Anything more exotic, like "eggs over medium", you are likely to be disappointed. And don't expect much from the coffee-- which, perhaps not coincidentally, is closely related in color and smell to the large river that flows nearby.

This place is worth it for the entertainment value alone! Well, that and the onion rings, which are great! I've never seen so many homemade clothes in my life. They have a salad bar. So to speak. And if they don't offer to sell you pie, the pie is free. This place is hilarious, don't skip it!
