Tweeters has the worst food and service in the Iowa Great Lakes and perhaps the entire state. Do not eat here. My family ate the prime rib, Grande Mex, Chicken Tenders, and a hamburger. Also, do not use the rest room.

OMG! What has happened to this place. It used to be our favorite place to eat. My wife and I just left there and we are so disappointed. We waited over an hour for our food to come out and when it did, my wife's meal was inedible. She had ordered the steak Oscar and it was literally floating in grease. To top it off, our waitress totally ignored us, never asking if we needed anything or if my meal was OK. I'm afraid they have lost our business.

The only reason to go here is for the fried portabella mushrooms. The waitress was nice. I had the ribs & hubby had the Iowa chop. Ribs were covered in with about 1/2 bottle of BBQ sauce & chop was taste less. Watched the bartender pour tap beers and stick the tap into the beer.....gross! Nothing like some bacteria with your beer. This is definitely not a place to go for a meal. Apps & cocktails is all they are good for.

I gave 1 star for the great location and interior design. The staff was friendly and attentive....but the food didn't meet my expectation after reading the reviews before hand. I came in for lunch and ordered a soup and sandwich combination with gizzards as an appetizer. The gizzards were ok, a little overdone. The sandwich was the worst Reuben sandwich I've had. The bread was 2 pieces of thin typical marble rye sandwich bread that you get from a bag at a grocery store, untoasted, just buttered on both sides, no dressing, a piece of lettuce and 2 slices of processed meat which had no 'corned beef' flavor. Such a huge disappointment for a nice looking place like this. I will never go back nor recommend a friend to go here.

This was a much better place before it burned down and was rebuilt. The new building is so noisy. They made the place bigger and the service has suffered because of it. The kitchen and servers can't keep up with that many customers. The food is average Midwest fare. I like the pork sandwich and they have chicken gizzards if you like that kind of thing. Sorry to say i have stopped recommending this restaurant to people that visit the Okoboji area.

A nightmare! We've eaten here before and the food has always been good but the service has been slow. This time after a 45 minute wait the hostess realized she had skipped over us. Then our server was horribly slow. Our drinks took 10 minutes. After 30 minutes our appetizer still hadn't come. The kitchen lost our order so we left. That being said, if you've got about 3 hours you can get some decent bar food.

My husband and I love this place. When we can't agree on a place we come here. Good sandwiches and their fries are amazing. Last time I had the steak sandwich and was a little disappointed the steak had no flavor.

This spot used to be a local favorite but upon revisiting I was quite disappointed. Mid grade food (at best) that's slightly over priced and takes to long to come out. Salads are iceberg and plain, steak salad was lacking even a measly amount of steak, and the specials didn't impress. Wish I could find something good to say as the owner is a great person and it's somewhat of an Okoboji classic but this spot defines Iowa dining - unimpressive, plain, and a menu that was clearly rolled out the back of a Cisco truck.

It's not even worth the one star I went there with a group of five we all had something wrong with our meals and the service was horrible.

Gas station food warmed up with a restaurant price tag. Never again. $18 chicken was size of a nugget on a bed of 99 cent canned mushrooms. Hubby got a bean mush "beef?" Burrito. In 17 years of marriage it's the first time we walked out. Look at all the reviews n don't waste ur time or money

Slow service. Average food. Burger was bland but onion rings were good. For a resort town this was was disappointing, Most chain restaurants are definitely better. I.e. chili's, Applebee's etc. Simply nothing to write home about.

I used to love this place but not so far this summer. Waitresses nice - one bartender rude! Especially the skinny girl who called me "honey." UGH. Food is usually good so I can't complain about that. Better bring a jacket as it usually feels like the freezer section of the grocery store.

This is more of a restaurant than a sports bar. Given they have flat screens there is more of a family environment and there was no volume on the playoff game. The bartender really wasn't responsive either. Head to the Ritz for a better atmosphere...

I have been coming to tweeters for many years now. The food and service is not what it once was. Don't get me wrong it isn't horrible. But there doesn't seem to be any care put into being a great place to eat. The last few times I have been at Tweeters the food was warm at best. I got chicken wings this last time and they were fine but my sweet potato fries were cold. My wife's sandwich was cold in spots as well. If the restaurant is at all busy good luck getting your food anytime soon. The last time a group of 4 of us were here, it took over an hour to get our food and getting refilled on drinks was not happening. Tweeters has really gone down hill. Hope they figure it out.

Gayle, the Kid, and I stopped in during our annual visit to the Iowa Great Lakes Region. My Brother joined us, as did a high school classmate from 40 years ago. Yes, it was also reunion weekend in Estherville. Back in the early days, Tweeters had a downstairs bar area. That's long gone, and I found the current upstairs dining and drinking areas to be quite nice and inviting. Service was good and my chicken skillet was delicious. Gayle had a similar positive experience with her shrimp skillet and ditto for my Son's Burrito. However, my Brother indicated that his buffalo chicken was only OK. I didn't get a good feel from our friend's Walleye Pike, but he did finish his plate. The best part of the evening was sitting in our corner table and enjoying each other's company as we caught up. Times have changed, but on some level things remain the same. Tweeter's remains a good place to help put those conversations in perspective.

Nothing special. Wait staff is always nice. Food is mediocre. They do have local brewed West O beer on tap. Grilled chicken is dry. Steak was mehhh. Go somewhere good.

I always go to Tweeters when I am at the Lakes but was disappointed this time. I had the Philadelphia Steak n Cheddar and it was dry and tasteless. Normally I have their prime rib but they had sold out by the time I arrived.

DO NOT IGNORE THE REVIEWS...Unfortunately we did. While the service was fair/pleasant, the food experience did not match. I ordered the top sirloin steak and got a flat iron (at best) tough, thin, tasteless slab of meat. I am not an A1 Steak Sauce person, but it was the only thing that saved the steak. This was a business dinner, all of us ordered the top sirloin, and I truly believe this is not what they served us. A real disappointment. The next night we decided to try another place since we all still wanted a good steak. We got it at Table 316, just down the road. Perhaps Tweeters' claim to fame is something other than steak, but don't tell me I'm getting--and paying for--a Top Sirloin and give me a cheap cut of meat. Not cool.

Waitstaff was good but food was way overpriced. Ordered halibut and got frozen fish sticks and bland Texas toast for $20.

I grew up going to okoboji every summer with my family, and we always loved going to eat at tweeters. My husband and I went to dinner there last night and we're very disappointed. They had an almost full restaurant, and only two waitresses. Coming from the restaurant /hospitality industry, we know what it takes to run a business, and maybe they had someone call in sick, or maybe they weren't expecting such a large dinner crowd, but it took a very long time to get our drinks. When the waitress finally dropped off the drinks, she took our order. Food took atleast 35-40mins to get to us. Food was all from a can, extremely salty and really lacked in presentation. This is not the tweeters I remember from growing up and going there every summer.

I would crawl over glass for their onion rings and dipping sauce. Burgers aren't to shabby either :) It's a sports bar setting

This place is over rated. Boyfriend had the Oscar. His was good, he said. I had a juicy Lucy. It had no taste whatsoever(very little cheese too) and was super greasy. We both had fries and they were greasy as well. I left hungry:-( just way too much grease. If you want a real juicy Lucy go to matts juicy Lucy in the twin cities.

Food is good. Had fajita chicken salad, tasty but needed about 2x the greens. Salsa with it was good, not Texas style but good. The bacon wrapped scallops were good but lacked some flavor somehow. The charbroiled hamburger with a mound of sautéed onions was very good. Jennifer, our waitress was sweet and generally attentive. The place was packed. Decent looking bar. Open wifi for the customers, a nice plus.

i love to try new things, being in the army, i get to eat at a lot of different places throughout the country. i tend to be very adventurous with my food choices, but tonight we were lead to this bar/resteraunt by our commander. he likes burgers and fries. there were 17 of us, but we were together, we were seperate. they sat us immediately and kept our drinks coming, but the wait for our food, from the moment we sat down was well over and hour and a half. they waited to serve us all at once, the table next to us which sat down after us got their food and left before our food ever arrived. the waitress was not to blame i'm sure, but they were trying to treat us as a party, but we were all on our own. anyways, my food came out, the prime rib, and it was cold to the touch. the roughy that 2 people at our table was aweful. the other person at our table had something on an english muffin and he said it was salty and aweful. of the 17 people that got something adventurous on the menu, i don't think any of them liked it. the people that got chicken fingers or a hamburger said they were fine. i've read other reviews of this place to make sure it wasn't just a bad night. they've all said the service is slow, the food is mediocre to aweful obviously our commander has poor taste in resteraunts. i would shy away, no, run away from this place at all costs. when i confronted the manager he seemed incredibly unsympathetic. they took the cost of the dinner i didn't eat off my bill but nothing else. on top of that, they charged everyone 18% gratuity, even though we were all on seperate checks. i had no way of voicing my displeasure except telling the manger, please don't do this to people, they will not come back. i think they could care less. there are not that many places in the area and they serve a certain clientel that wants burgers and fries. it looks like they do burger and fries well, but that's not what we wanted. we wanted the specials, we wanted to be served on time, we wanted good food, we wanted warm to hot food. if i could give this place negative stars i would. they will still be in business 10 years from now because people that go there don't read reviews on yelp.

Tweeter's is an American food, casual restaurant and bar. The food is generally good, although heavy on the meat, cheese, fried food, and potatoes that are typical for the region. We had to send our salads back because some of the greens had spoiled, but the replacements were decent. It's a good place for a burger and fries. I had a grilled chicken breast and wild rice dish that was good. The locals like this place, and it is one of the better restaurants in the area. Lots of TVs showing sports.

Great place to eat at the lake. Sit down, receive great service and good food. It's no culinary destination, it's the place to go where you can always count on getting a good meal from good people. usually a football or basketball game on, usually buzzing with happy people.
