This is a hidden gem!!! The food is unique not the same old menu at other asian rest. presented to perfection. Freshly made dishes that are a treat!! This is a must if your in the area, limited seating so call ahead. Sushiya is a new word for great sushi.
We're Oyama (Iowa City) die-hards, but I expect we're going to find excuses to come to Sushiya anytime we're within a 5 mile radius. We ordered shumai and edamame for appetizers, some nigiri, and a few of the more traditional maki rolls. I don't know what "authentic" shumai is supposed to be/taste like, but Sushiya's is different from Oyama and I like Oyama's better. I didn't personally eat the edamame but our little one did and she enjoyed it. The nigiri and maki were just outstanding. The rice was cooked absolutely perfectly. We've done some sushi-rice cooking at home and, after that experience with small batches, we have real respect for people that can pull it off so well in restaurant quantities. Sushiya probably does a better job of it than anywhere I've had in the corridor. The other ingredients were just amazing. The raw was extremely fresh and the cooked was perfectly prepared. What Sushiya really gets right is the balance of flavors in each maki. The ice cream that came as a complement to my nigiri dinner was also fantastic. I recommend that you ask your server for his or her favorites. We were pointed to a couple of things that we might not have thought to try and were very favorably impressed. We didn't try anything from the more fusion-type maki selection but judging by what we did get, I suspect that the fusion must be excellent. This would be a good "gateway" restaurant for all of those friends of yours that just aren't quite sure about sushi yet. The other amazing thing about Sushiya is the phenomenal service. I really can't say enough good things about the way that we were greeted and treated from beginning to end. As for kids, there's not much here that's "American-y" enough if your kids are the PB/J or hot dogs or mac-n-cheese types, but it's not really any different from most other Asian restaurants. However, they really did treat my hungry and tired little one wonderfully, so to say this place isn't kid-friendly would be an absolute lie.
Best sushi around! Every roll has been fantastic, the owner is super polite and customer oriented, and the miso soup is spot on!

Absolutely love this place. they're proof that you don't need to have a ridiculous number of taps to be a great beer bar. As long as you have 15-20 good ones, that's more than enough. This place brings in a lot of hard to find brews and doesn't waste any lines on bud, colors, etc. The food is spectacular. Last time in, I had the Denver Boy. A lot of places are experimenting with peanut butter on burgers and their take is one of the best ones I've ever had. They mix may tag blue cheese with it which I wouldn't think would be a good combination but I was surprised to say the least. The burger was incredible and the fries were enjoyable as well. It's definitely worth straying away from Iowa City on occasion to check out this gem. Every restaurant owned by the people that run Red's is a hit and they each have their own unique touch. For red's, I'd say it's their import selection and a staff that goes out of their way to make you feel welcome.
The service is generally extremely slow, and it is also generally very loud, sometimes to the point where you have to shout to the person sitting right next to be heard. The food itself is generally decent, although it can be hit or miss... Steaks overdone or not rested properly resulting in a plate full of juice and a dry/tough piece of meat. And half the time the potatoes au gratin are crunchy. The worst part of Reds is the fact that you cannot get substitutions on some of the entree sides... The sirloin comes with 'creamed greens' which are in my wife and I's opinion, DISGUSTING, and when we asked if we could get anything else instead of the creamed greens, we were told NO, that it would not be possible because it is a 'garnish'. So when we asked to have the aforementioned slop left off of our plate and ordered an additional side a'la carte, the server was rude, and couldn't guarantee the green goo would be left off the plate, but she'd try.
Great place with excellent service & food. This is a 'staple' of NL & shows no signs of slower down. I highly recommend the flatbreads. Buffalo Chicken & Spicy Tai Chicken are top notch. Black & Tan Onion are awesome!

Good pizza reminds me of other Mom and Pop pizza parlors in every Midwest city. Pricing is good, and pizzas are made super quick for carry out. I've walked in before ordered my pizza and a soda, by the time I was half finished with my drink the pizza was done. My only complaint is that they have weird hours for a pizza place, I don't think I've ever seen them open past 9. Which is odd as I've wanted to order pizza up to midnight on some nights an had to look elsewhere.
My wife and I were craving some pizza last night and didn't want the normal Pizza Hut, Papa John's, or any of the other chain pizza places. Thank God we have this place a shot. Talk about good pizza! Very good ingredients, lots of cheese, tasty sauces, and made with care. This pizza definitely wasn't just thrown together, it's almost like each ingredient was precisely placed. As long as this place keeps up the quality, it will be our go to pizza place!
any time i want a buffalo chicken pizza i go here ! there cheese bread/sticks are also amazing! I have never had any thing else form Pizza plus except these two items!

Breakfast is amazing especially their pancakes! If you are there for dinner get the grilled chicken platter it's delicious! Good and friendly service and you can get carry out!
The food isn't worth the price. I ordered a salmon salad at lunch, and without it being listed as an ingredient on the menu, came with cooked green beans on top and they were still cold inside. Gross.
We prefer Bluebird Cafe to Bluebird Diner. The menus are similar, but the service at the North Liberty location is much better. The omelets are really tasty and big. They also have really good coffee. It's a really great casual breakfast/lunch spot. The outdoor seating is nice too!

Pizza Ranch

The Pizza Ranch has great chicken. Nice crisp breading and juicy and tender chicken inside. The Pizza Ranch is a place that I can take my family without bursting the budget and my girls can get what they want (and how much of it they want). The buffet is very convenient for lunch after church when your tummy is growling. When you are done with your meal, make sure you get yourself at least one slice of their dessert pizza. VERY yummy!
First off kids don't eat free, second they had no milk, third they had no ice cream. How do you run a place that runs out of milk and ice cream? Isn't that one of the reasons people come here, ice cream?
On average I enjoyed going to this Pizza Ranch but this time was different. I fell and hit my self on the buffet, spilling a plate full of hot food all over me. An employee watched this happened and laughed at me. Did not ask if I was okay or offer to help me up. For most people that would be bad but they managed even piss me off more. I ordered a pizza when I paid for the buffet. An hour later we where still waiting for our Pizza. By the time we left we did not have our pizza. We left with out enjoying the pizza we ordered. The employees where no help and rude.

Mmm, delicious Jimmy John's subs! With a drive-thru! And a guy on the other side of the mic telling jokes and making you laugh in your car! Docked a star because the interior smells really strange, like mildew almost. But I've eaten here at least five or six times and haven't had any ill effects yet, so I'll just use the drive-thru to avoid the smell and keep on returning.
There's really nothing that this Jimmy John's does that separates itself from any of the other Jimmy John's which is the reason for the 5 stars. Great, simple, and fast makes a great lunch or dinner option. This particular one also offers drive thru and is new/clean. Great location in North Liberty.
I have ordered delivery from here from the time the store opened. I live three minutes away and I even ordered some delivery yesterday and it came successfully. However today I called to order my regular sandwich and they told me that they do not deliver to my address. I talked to the manager, the assistant manager, and also an employee and all three of them told me that their policy stated that they do not deliver to my address. Due to my close proximity and past history of ordering many times, I knew this was a mistake but they refused service to me and were extremely rude. After talking with corporate headquarters on facebook messaging, corporate agreed that I am within delivery range, and that the managers of the store were wrong. However, this experience has made me lose my appetite. I refuse to ever give my money to this company because they do not use logic when making decisions...they've lost a loyal regular customer based off of pure ignorance of their own policies and common sense. I am extremely disappointed with the staff.

As a University of Iowa Alumni - Pancheros is a STAPLE of my visits back to the area. This time around I was not dissapointed even though we chose to check out this location rather than the usual downtown Iowa City one. Service was quick, the burrito was delicious, the queso was ah-mah-zing (per usual) and the Mello yellow was flowing! The prefect brunch for the day after a football game extravaganza!
Don't get me wrong. I love Pancheros so much, and I would love to swim in a vat of their queso. But this location... This location is the absolute worst. Their employees used to be awful, but that has improved. It's their food. It is consistently disappointing. Their queso isn't made right, sometimes their chicken is undercooked... Sometimes your burrito is just gross. The only good thing about this place is location. But then the problem is you want to gamble against the odds and hope that you get a halfway decent burrito instead of making the trip into Coralville. Just.... Don't: just drive into Coralville. Your stomach and mouth will thank you.
I'm a Panchero's convert. I used to be a Chipotle fan but after many experiences of their super loud environments and that they don't MIX their burrito ingredients I've come to the Panchero's chain side. I was in North Liberty with a few hours to burn as my girlfriend was at a baby shower. I stopped into this location and when the line of customers became long it was "all hands on deck" - workers from the back came up to help with the rush. I ordered two tacos for $5. I experienced nothing but friendly fast service. People who complain about the price.. it's the add ons stupid. I ordered one pork and one chicken - the pork was hands down amazing. Fast food superior. I'm also a big fan of the bottled hot sauces - do they sell these? Great quick cheap lunch. Why the four star? The mens' bathroom was pretty disgusting.

JJ’s Cupcakes and Creamery

Reviews:
Not the best cupcakes, kinda dry and lacking flavor. Typical set up here if you frequent cupcake shops. Has the looks of a nice bakery, but falls short on the baking of the product. You will have your typical unique choices, but the flavor is average.
We frequent this bakery for the cupcakes and the ice cream, both of which are excellent! The building is cute and they have space to eat your sweet treats inside or outside. The cupcake flavor selection has some standard favorites plus something new to try. They have fillings that kick the flavor combinations up a notch over their competitors. Also with the options of various sized cupcakes it is easy to order for events. We used JJ's for our wedding and couldn't have been happier!
These cupcakes were horrible. Tried them twice and both times the cupcakes were so dry they crumbled apart. We ordered filled supcakes and they had no filling. The frosting was only slightly sweet and not very good. On the other hand, the ice cream is quite tasty.

I enjoy going to Eggys. In the past the service had been slow. But not lastnight. We were eating before a wrestling meet and appreciated the fast service. We were concerned about that cause the parking lot was jammed packed. Come to find out there was a party upstairs. Food was excellent. .. just hope the next time the clam chowder will be available.
Went to Eggys on 965 for lunch, last Sunday. Was surprised after the great meals and service that I have gotten there, that there weren't more people tbere. The food we excellent a doll the wit service was attentive and prompt. If you want a good meal, may I suggest the Meatloaf dinner and the Bleu Cheese salad dressing. Someone in my party said this was the best Bleu Cheese dressing she had ever eaten. plan on going again, soon.
This place is now called Bobby's and we thought we'd check it out. Needless to say, I won't ever be back. The hostess that seated was could have cared less that we were there. She basically pointed to a booth and said "You can have that one". Later, when she brought us our silverware, she all but threw it on the table. She was also wearing sweats...if you want to make a good first impression, at least pretend to care about your job and appearance. We had some questions about the menu, and the waitress couldn't really tell us what cottage fries were. Turns out that they are mandolin sliced fries with regular fries mixed in. We ordered a burger with fries and the french dip with garlic mashed potatoes. My partner said that the burger was "Decent", but the french dip was really dry. The potatoes tasted like instant potatoes and were also dry, without the slightest hint of garlic in them. I ordered a soda, but asked for water because it tasted really weird. Even after the waitress checked the carbonation and brought me a second one, it still just tasted off which leads me to think that their lines need to be cleaned. Horrible service and "meh" food means I won't be back ever.

Bobbers is a great place to go watch an Iowa State Football Game. They have a fun fishing Bobber theme ( which subtley has a double meaning). I recommend the Spicy Chili Wings. And when it's chilly outside nothing hits the spot more than their Bailys with Hot Chocolate!
New ownership. Great hang out in the summer! Bar/restaurant with entertainment, camping and boating. Great food! Overall fun place to visit!
Spending $125 on the ramp fee is pretty pricey, but we anticipated that the amenities would make it worthwhile. Bought the pass, early in the afternoon and then went back to Bobbers after we had finished boating. Waited 5 minutes before my companion had to go up to the bar to be served for a drink. THERE WAS 6 PEOPLE THERE! We were hoping to get dinner, but they stop earlier than we anticipated. That's not why they're getting one star. If we sit down at a table, and they're still serving drinks, for another 35 minutes, check on us!!!!! Otherwise, close early!!!!!!!!!! We had NUMEROUS workers look at us and never come ask us if we needed anything. I'm not even 3 miles away from this place and I could've easily went there for a drink. Truly hoping this was a fluke but step it up!!
