Cant review the actual Chinese food as it is not in my taste. Love their butter potatoes and their corn nuggets, they are my favorites. Excellent chicken. The pizza is good not the best but pretty good just a bit to much cheese for what I like. A varity of choices. Clean and friendly staff. Sometimes takes a few minutes to get seated.

I've been going to Hong Kong buffet for years now and it's still as excellent as ever. Top notch Chinese food with a high degree of cleanliness and service. The interior is classic oriental with pleasant lighting, joyful music, and comfortable seating. Hong Kong is, imo, the best oriental restaurant in Muscatine.

Ms T, Andrew T and I were sort of caught in Muscatine the night of Christmas day before driving on up to Minnesota to spend our real Christmas with Aunt Annie and rest of the family. We had business to conduct the next day so were a little worried about finding a place to eat on Dec 25 for dinner. Hong Kong Buffet bailed us out and it was really not bad. We have a term in our family, "good-bad Chinese" food. This means that the food is probably not authentic and a Chinese diner would probably not like it, but it is good Americanized Chinese food and we don't know any better. That is precisely what we found on this well managed buffet. There were quite a number of people there also needing a place to eat on Christmas day evening. The restaurant did a good job of making small batches so things did not get cold or stale. They kept the dishes refreshed. The variety is pretty large and if you can't find something you like it's your problem. The food was very acceptable and I found it hard to limit myself and not overeat. So while we would have taken about anything to avoid eating gas station sandwiches, it was not really like we "settled". We really enjoyed it and I can envision returning. This would be an easy choice for me over the venerable Peking. I have just found their food to be really boring. (see my older review) So Thanks, Hong Kong Buffet for bailing us out. Solid three stars.

Jon T beat me to it. So I will basically "ditto" his review. It was exactly the good bad Chinese food I have a soft spot for, with a good variety of pretty tasty items, and even a reasonably broad "non-Chinese" section. There were a couple items I really liked, but unfortunately, it's been long enough that I don't know the names of any of them anymore. I'm almost *never* in Muscatine, and on a normal night, there are more things that are going to be open, but there would be nothing wrong with returning here.

Asian, American, and kid-friendly buffet in a remodeled former Country Kitchen. Handicap friendly. Salad bar, 3 soups, sushi, desserts, 8 premium ice creams (birthday cake, bunny tracks, sherbets), pizza slices, dieter-friendly poached fish filets, on evenings the best & plumpest frog legs I ever had even in a French restaurant. Many Asian selections include General Tsao, coconut sauced shrimp, broccoli chicken. spring rolls, crab Rangoon, egg rolls, hot crab stuffed scallop shells. American & Asian beers. Friendly & attentive staff always remember the regulars' drink preferences. Office & laborers workers eat here lunch & evening. The best Asian buffet in town. Near shopping, hotels, & intersections of 2 highways. Can order individual entrees off a menu instead of buffet, also take-out. I enjoy their carved fresh oranges.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
