Maid Rite

California has In-N-Out and Fatburger, Iowa has maid-Rite. All are special for their own reasons. I order mine with ketchup only, because mustard tastes like ass and pickles ruin everything you put them on. Haven't had one of these in at least decade and a third, and my two sons had never had one. None of us were disappointed. The place is spotless. The manager was beyond polite, accommodating, and professional. The sandwiches were perfectly made, wrapped, and presented. The shakes were fantastic.
My husband calls them "Sloppy Good" and they are. You will need a fork or spoon to gather up all the loose meat goodness that gathers outside of the sandwich. Remembering these as a child and just tried one again while driving through. I miss these. These are not to be compared to a White Castle. Although the ingredients and flavors are similar the Maid Rite is much more heartier. It is a large sandwich. It would take about 6 WC's or more to catch up to this quality Mega sandwich. They are good!!!!! Someone complained about the cost.....$3+...DUH!.....then compare it to buying 6 WC's at over $4+. NO BRAINER!!!
This is just ok food that is way over priced. Service was good an friendly. Tried the maid rite and it was ok but I would not recommend it. I did have a peanut butter malt and that was good.

Quilt Country Family Restaurant

Quilt Country serves it up right. They got a lot of mean dishes in this place. Right next to the Cheif Lamoni Motel. Saunder over from the Chief and get your eat on in this little hometown restaurant. Lots of nice older folks and locals. Enjoy it.
Tastiest home style restaurant this side of the Mississippi river! Fish, clams, fried chicken, and tender roast beef were delicious. The salad and fresh fruit were refreshing. The deserts which include bread pudding, ice-cream, brownies, and banana cake cannot be resisted! And to top it all off, the service is warm and friendly. If you leave this place without a smile on your face, you don't have a pulse. Good job, QC!
Stopped at 1:16 and the buffet wasn't available. I ordered bean soup( bland with little ham) and the 1/2lb burger and fries. The burger tasted like one of those you buy in sleeves at the grocery store and the fries were just fair and not many of them. I won't be back. My assumption of an Amish community that the food would be better. It is when on Indiana or Ohio.

I heard Tree fell asleep on the cooler in the back and got fired. Ah, such is life. My favorite would have to be the Taco Pizza. Save up those tabs, 10'll get you a free pizza.

Pizza Hut

Reviews:
Well, let's just start out by saying, "Hey, it's Pizza Hut." That means different things to different people, but to me it means mediocre food and that's what we received. This Pizza Hut is one of just a handful of places not far from the highway between KC and Des Moines and is likely one of the better options, but still, not exactly a gourmet experience. The hubby and I stopped in on our way home from Iowa and since we'd had pizza the night before, we both decided to go another direction. They do have a salad bar, and that would have been my first choice if it were a decent salad bar, but the options on the salad bar were pretty sparse. I ended up having a sammy that was ok, but left me wishing I'd stopped at the Subway next door. The hubby had wings and fries and he thought they were ok, but complained that the wings were too saucy. When we arrived, the place wasn't very busy, but within about 15 minutes, it was hoppin'. With only one waitress for the entire restaurant, service slowed to a snail's pace. I wouldn't recommend coming here during peak hours, but if you need a snack in the mid-afternoon, probably not a bad option and it's not far off I-35.
