Amazing. Fresh food. Homemade pie. Special of the day was Reuben soup and wife said it was best soup ever. Burger was $3 and delicious. Fries were crispy and tasty. This is small town America at its best!!!!
Perfect Iowa diner. Good priced specials, great service, and world class sausage. Parked next to McD, I can't fathom why anyone would go there instead of here. Great hash browns too. Nice place.

If you're looking for a bit of Pizza Hut nostalgia this may just be your place. Classic old style full building Pizza Hut complete with salad bar and pizza buffet just like the old days. This 1 probably hasn't been remodeled since the old days but that's what gives its charm. I was greeted by a friendly young lady, It did appear to be getting ready for the evening rush in a small town. Situated right across from bowling alley I'm sure this joint will be jumpin in a matter of hours.

This was our FINAL trip back to Iowa for the summer after seemingly being here every weekend for a wedding. The wedding was in Iowa Falls and as is the case everywhere we go, my wife and I always seek out local tips on restaurants. We had coffee at the little shop across the street (which I will review another time) and they told us to eat across the way at the Princess Grill & Pizzeria (formerly known as the Princess Café), located at 607 Washington in Iowa Falls. Krystyn didn't eat with me, but rather decided to hitch a ride back to Des Moines with some of her cousins to spend the day shopping... no big surprise there. That meant that I was either going to eat solo today or going to have to recruit some cousins. It wasn't a problem... just tell them that you're buying lunch and you'd be surprised to see how many people show up. There were six of us altogether. We arrived and were greeted by a friendly waitress who seated us right away. We walked by the GIGANTIC soda fountain on our way to our table and were immediately thinking about malts and shakes for after dinner. We were told that the soda fountain is the largest in the state of Iowa and from what I've experienced in my travels, they're right about that. This place is decorated nicely and age-appropriate for the building (looked like between the 1930s-1950s in all décor). Nice comfortable wooden benches and chairs. The burgers came highly-recommended by our waitress, as did the pizza (I would hope so since it has the word "pizzeria" in the restaurant name). I don't remember what everyone ordered, but I know that one cousin had the steak sandwich with fries and thought it was really good. I love a good burger and tried the "house" cheeseburger. It was cooked exactly how I asked and was served hot. You can't really ask for more than that. Fries were crispy and not too greasy or salty. Nobody ordered the pizza but one table near us did and it looked VERY good. As expected, we all ordered malts (I had raspberry and the others did either vanilla or chocolate) and they were the bomb! This place is a great little family restaurant and was worth the visit. The prices are good, the food is good and it's hard to beat the atmosphere of this place. As we were getting ready to leave the owner came to our table and asked us about our experience. They were polite and friendly and because of our experience, we'll be back again sometime. I have no hesitations recommending Princess Pizzeria & Grill.
Very fun place to visit! It has a lot of history and really takes you back in time to the old burger joint cafes of the 50's and 60's! Great milkshakes and a big menu equals a must stop in the scenic city!
It was a decent diner experience. The inside was totally vintage, from the wood booths to the large soda fountain complete with vintage glasses and stools when you walk through the door. It was dimly lit and some great 80' music blasted as you walked through the door. What we ate: The Large Chef Salad could have fed 4 people easily. Tons of Crisp lettuce with lots of cheese, meats, mushrooms, tomatoes and olives filled the bowl. The home made ranch was wonderfully prepared by who seemed to be the head waitress. It was lite but really seasoned well. The parmesan peppercorn was also homemade and very flavorful as well. We also shared a Bacon Cheese Burger. It was cooked nicely and had a lot of bacon and cheese. They know how do to med to med well burgers. The prices are responsible in my book. \ They also do not take credit or debit cards, this helps to keep the prices lower so they don't have to build in the cost of using the machine. I can see where this might be a hindrance, but there's a bank like a block away so if you need cash it's close.

Las Flores Mexican Restaurant

Great place to go for a fun night. Best margaritas around and tons of dishes to choose from. Friendly staff and always great service. I recommend the enchiladas verses and a margarita on the rocks.
While working in the area I found myself in Iowa Falls at lunch time and decided to try Las Flores. I had seen it on previous trips but never at the right time. I would classify Las Flores as a typical small town family style Mexican restaurant. I found it pretty mediocre and uninspired, very formulaic on the first visit. The chips were the thin restaurant style and mine were kind of stale. The salsa seemed to be canned tomato sauce with a little oregano added. Nothing special. They have no taco menu, per se, which is not surprising, but they do offer tacos de carne asada. I asked for corn tortillas or I would have received flour. The meat was chewy and unseasoned. In these kinds of restaurants, carne asada (or huevos con chorizo) are things that can't really be screwed up, but this carne was sub par. The beans were fairly creamy but were pretty much unseasoned. Based on one visit, I found the food to be mediocre, fairly bland and not particularly well executed. If you are in this part of Iowa and the drive makes sense, go to Los Compadres in Story City or make much better Mexican at home.

The service and food was no worse or better than your usual McD's. That is really saying something too going through a town where young adults ride in electric wheelchairs while towing their friends in baby strollers.

I would give no stars if that was possible. Just had the worst breakfast. Ordered sunny side up eggs, they came over hard. No hashbrowns, burnt toast, and and overcooked bacon. Bring herm back!
