Wonderful, local diner!!! Friendly, fast service, with great home cooked food. Tenderloin sandwich is a must try, but bring your appetite. The daily specials are equally good. The cucumbers and onions go quick, so get there early. We loved the charm and charisma of the wait staff.

A great little diner with very friendly customer service. We ordered The Big One burger and onion rings. While we waited for our order the fine ladies running the restaurant gave us the history of the building and the owner. It was a great dinner break on a road trip.

It's dinky. It's a diner that was trucked from Ellsworth, Kansas. It's absolutely charming albeit in need of a deep cleaning. My brother lives in the area and I've driven by it on my way to Leon, Iowa. I recently had a burger here. It was juicy, classic diner comfort food. The waitress was small town nice, answering questions I peppered her with about the business. The menu is written in neon dry erase markers. There are license plates decorating the high interior, 50s and 60s tschotchkes on shelves, locals whom the waitress knows by name reading the local used automobile flyers. Worth a stop for the uniqueness of the building. Not any signs on Interstate 35 so so East on Highway 2 at the Decatur City exit, Dinky Diner is on the North side of the highway. Enjoy!

Well the food is not bad, but the staff was obviously having a bad day, dropped off menu walked up to take our order...all without speaking a word, yep you can't make that up...

My wife, almost 7 year-old daughter and I stopped off after the Decatur County tax-lien sale and had a celebratory brunch before heading back to KC. Wife and daughter had visited previous week on scouting trip. Had a great hash brown/ham/eggs/toast combo that hit the spot and my daughter devoured her 2 adult-sized by Mickey Mouse adjoined ear pancakes in record time. Treated her to slice of (in-house made) coconut cream pie and nearly lost my hand to a territorial fork jab. :-) Great folks and hardy food. I know now what my wife said when I (6'6") left for the restroom and she said, "Watch your head" and "enter bathroom landscape mode". Ceiling light globes in that end of the diner a bit low for me and men's/women's room not for the wide of berth! Made it out safely and will go back next time in the area.

I stop for gas and was directed to this place a 1/4 mile down the road from the I-35 exit. It's a Valentine Diner built in Witchita KS in the mid 60's and move here from Ellsworth Kansas in 2005. The food was great and so was the staff. I'll be back with friends the next time I go north.

We found this place with yelp while on a road trip on I35. It was a quick off and on the interstate. It is a very small diner! We had a really good lunch. They have a 3 daily specials that come with your choice of three sides. There are 7-8 to choose from. I ordered fish with green beans and crab salad. My third side was bread pudding. The fish was crispy, fried perfectly. The crab salad really tasty, more like a slaw. Green beans just as expected. The highlight was a nice creamy bread pudding. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich. He said it was good. Looked like too much gravy for me. The place was clean and easy to get to. We were in and out within 30 minutes. I would definitely go back.

When I was in college this was one of my favorite places in the entire world. You feel like home as soon as you walk in the door. The waitstaff are warm and friendly and helpful. The food is a very fair price and you get humongous pancakes/hashbrowns/omelettes. All of which are incredibly tasty. They have a diverse assortment of coffee mugs, and the mug you get that morning, be it a sad santa mug, or snoopy kissing lucy, always foretells something about your day to come. This place is a true treasure and a rare find that defines all the goodness of Iowans everywhere.
