Absolutely amazing breakfast! The French Toast was delicious as well as the omelets. Wait staff is very friendly and prompt. Try this out for sure!
Great place with home-style food. The service is friendly and polite. The seating is clean and this place is busy often. I like to meet friends here any time of day. If your looking for a locals choice this is it!
Great service! Great café, perfect for small town comfort food. Everything was fresh, coffee was delicious, and my server was lovely. I would come back every time I'm in Clinton for a good breakfast!

Always have been a fan of Hardee's since I was a kid. Unfortunately, all their restaurants are gone in our area for some years now, so it's awesome to grab breakfast there when my buddy and I visit friends in Iowa. The best thing is going in on Sunday morning and eating the best biscuits and gravy that fast food can provide...maybe the best I've ever had, believe it or not. There's definitely something different in the way they make it. And usually they give free refills on the B&G on Sundays, if I remember correctly. They also have awesome breakfast sandwiches made with awesome biscuits, and the cinnamon dessert biscuits that make me forget I don't like raisins in my pastries. Great breakfast spot, and lunch/dinner is good too. Just don't expect healthy options.

My sister and I stopped in here for coffee one afternoon, and I fell in love! They have you usual coffee/latte/espresso/etc. drinks. But then...there are all different kinds of slow brews to choose from (I believe 5 or 7 different kinds). Wow!! As a coffee lover, this is my kind of place. I ended up just getting a caramel macchiato...but that had to be the BEST macchiato I have ever had. It tasted like melted ice cream. Yum. They had some Frank Sinatra playing in the background, and some places to sit and chat or work. The people working there were super nice, drinks came out fast, and everything was reasonably priced. I just wish they were in Chicago!
A real coffee shop in Clinton IA!!!! Has hipsters and macchiatos and fresh baked goods and everything a lost urbanite needs.
Fantastic little spot in Clinton. We were in from Atlanta visiting our daughter. I had the LA Club Panini and my husband had the Thai Chicken Panini. Everything was fresh and fantastic. Great 'happy' service too. A+

Don't miss this local gem. The drinks are good and strong and food is outstanding. A fixture in Clintons North end.
While this is probably the best resturant in Clinton, the rest of the Clinton food scene is a virtual culinary wasteland. Basic chicken, fish (fried), and steak dishes on the menu. Nothing fancy or adventurous. The service is very slow even though they seem to have plenty of waitstaff. The wine list consists of 4 selections. The resturant is an old house, and the decor is that of an old supper club - which, while cool, does not make up for the marginal food.
Absolutely love their Steak deals...and they are mouth watering good! Every bite is worth the price and trip to visit!

This is your place if your looking for excellent food and friendly service. In Clinton on business and didn't want to do the franchise restaurants. The fried catfish was plentiful and clean tasting. Atmosphere is relaxed. Kayla, thanks for the fast and courteous service. I believe that Ribs are their specialty but I would like to try the smoked catfish or BLT Extreme (nearly 1 pound of bacon on large hoagie) upon my next visit.

My group stopped in the Whistle Stop to have a beer while waiting for Flav's Fried Chicken to open. The bar was very clean and I would guess it to be not older than 2 or 3 years. It was bright and inviting and I did not feel out of place. They have 2 pool tables, a dart machine and a juke box. They have your typical Bud, Miller, Coors beers and a limited selection of alcohol. The bar tender was very nice and we B.S.'d with her before leaving for FFC. I gave the place 4 stars just because I did not get the "GET OUT" vibe when I was there, as you do some times in smaller locals bars.

Surprisingly good! And I don't mean this as a cut against this establishment, but against my own assumptions. It's got a great menu with a lot more selections than you'd guess it would have, plus the signature iced teas are both really good. It's great, CHEAP food! (Nothing is more than $5). You get more than you paid for and the neighborhood is a great place to walk off your meal. Enjoy!

Uncle Louie’s Chicago Style Sandwich

People call this place a "dive" but it's the best food freakin around!!!
To call this place a dive isn't really fair. The dining room looks more like a basement rec room than a restaurant, complete with '60s style dinette chairs and on further review, well, it's pretty much a basement rec room. Yup, it's fair to call it a dive because well, it's a dive. But true Yelpers know that often, the best food around comes from a dive. I was here at 12:30 on a Thursday and the place was empty, in fact, it looked like it had just opened and wasn't really set up for customers yet. (Maybe lunch isn't a specialty?) The smell of my Chicago Style Hot Dog quickly permeated the restaurant. The owner is very friendly and we chatted briefly while I waited for the dog to be grilled. She put a sliced-in-half baguette on the grill and I did a double take - was that for me? She already had a jumbo dog, sliced lengthwise, warming up on the grill. Yup, the dog and the baguette were for me. This isn't the traditional Chicago Style Hotdog, loaded up with all kinds of stuff. This one is simple, onions, relish, etc. and Uncle Louie's secret ingredient - saurkraut. It's not a Chicago hotdog, this is more like a submarine sandwich. It was five bucks and it was great, but way too much food for me! It came back to the hotel with me to be dinner. I recommend Uncle Louie's but you might want to bring a friend. As for the atmosphere? You might think about carry-out.
Let's just start off by saying that this place is the definition of a dive. It was also expensive by my standards of how much a Chicago Style Hot Dog and Italian Beef should cost( m. Then again I am in Clinton, IA and not Chicago. Another quick tip is that they don't accept credit cards. Luckily I had cash on me because usually I don't. Now let's get to the real review, the food: it was better than expected. The portions were absolutely huge. The Italian beef was excellent and the hot dog was also pretty decent with a hoagie roll. I will definitely be back, but maybe next time I will carry out.
