If you find yourself in Charles City, and are hungry for Asian food, Lucky Dragon is your destination. Their food is freshly made. You won't find pre-fab foods that are identical to every other Chinese restaurant. Try the Imperial Chicken Wings from the appetizer selection. They are amazing! I didn't think I would care for them because of the pineapple sauce. I was wrong. The sauce doesn't taste strongly of pineapple. It's not a taste I can describe, other than, "Wow!" Their Egg Fu Young is delicious, and is served with a lovely stir-fry in sauce over the top of the patties. Unique, in my experience. Egg Drop Soup is served with most meals. It is heavenly. Great flavor and texture, and arrives topped with crunchy, wide, fried noodles. Don't be shy about asking for changes to your dish. Since everything is made from scratch, it's no problem to leave something out. Go there. I promise you'll be happy.
Very good food, took one star away for dated and cold atmosphere, but don't let that stop you from having some yummy Chinese food! Try the eggrolls!
I have yet to find a place that has better Chinese food then The Lucky Dragon. Every time I try a new Chinese restaurant I always find myself thinking how much better lucky Dragon is. I have been eating at the Lucky Dragon now for 10 years and have never had a bad experience. First off I will start with the atmosphere. It's a little outdated but has that authentic Chinese restaurant feel. The food is the best Chinese I've had! It is always reasonably priced with the amount of food you get. Their lunch menu is even less then dinner and you get a large portion! They have a large menu with great appetizers, soup, and entrees. Their crab rangoons are delicious! Every meal comes with a side of soup and I get the hot n' sour. My two favorite dishes are either the Orange Chicken or General's Tso Chicken! Both are always fresh and great quality! If you get the chance to stop by The Lucky Dragon do it! You will not regret it. Also by their request if going there with 5 or more make sure to call and make reservations

Crossing the great food desert and in the distance there is a shimmering... Is that real? I run as fast as I can, stumbling from my lack of good food for a day or two... Ahhhhh, that's the ticket. Try the Italian nachos, you won't be disappointed, barring any wierd beliefs you are actually indulging in nachos. The burger I had was good clean beef and satisfied my burger craving. She who must be obeyed had the mushroom stuffed pork chop, I stole a bite, or two, or three. Check this place out for sure.
service, food, all great! Very clean. A bit dated but food makes up for it. More cars in lot than in town. Must be where the locals go.
Great place. Stopped here from out of town (Chicago area) along the way to Mount Rushmore on a family road trip. We all (wife and 4 girls) loved it. I got the chicken parm, my wife got the Italian nachos, and my kids all shared various kids meal everyone ate everything! Highly recommend this place especially if you're out of town. Bette then going to a chain place or fast food.

Stopped in for lunch and was pleased to find that they serve breakfast all day. Great food and low prices! Pancakes were sweet and delicious, and the sausage and bacon were cooked just right! We had great service too. Highly recommend this place.
Cute fun place with ample space, and great buffet. Let's be honest, the only thing around here is McDonald's, at least this is real, small town, food. The Brunch buffet on Sunday is clearly a big draw, with multiple kinds of meat, same old scrambled eggs, but plenty of fresh fruit, french toast and pancakes. Two of us got out of there for $14. You can't really complain about that. This was down home hospitality too. There was plenty of refills, and nice conversation with the waitress. Pass through Charles City and stop by! It's the last thing for miles that doesn't come in a sack!
Stopped in for breakfast. Great coffee, prices are cheap! Food was amazing - got the "Little Daddy" (hash browns, 2 eggs, sausage gravy). Highly recommend!

Great restaurant. Not if you like authentic Mexican food, but if you like Mexican food that has been changed some for the mid west. (example...never had Parmesan cheese come standard on a burrito in Mexico) That being said it is very good for a wider variety of customers than true Mexican food would be. The staff is amazing and friendly. Food comes quickly and even with the recent price increase on the dinner menu... it is a pretty good value. Well supported by the community and for good reason. You might not be amazed... but you should not be disappointed.
The carne asada was tasty, as was the chille relleno burrito. This restaurant looks new and clean.
We had great dinner at this restaurant. Truly an authentic Mexican restaurant.

This girl doesn't know what shes talking about, this Taco Johns gave me explosive poops and had me throwing up half the night. Jennifer L, you must have a steel colon.
The Sign was a welcome beacon lighting up the night sky. Two tired travelers and their faithful dog companion were driving what seemed endlessly. The campsite they spent the day trying to get to was closed and they ended up having to turn around and head home. Lured by sign after sign that claimed "Camping" and had an arrow, they spotted this Taco John's. They managed to maneuver the drive-thru with truck and 16' camper and got a bag of steaming salty hot potato oles and nacho cheese. Fast and friendly - this was just what these road weary travelers needed. They pulled over in an empty parking lot and ate potato oles and watched the traffic go by.
Whenever I am constipated and desperate, I will stop by a Taco John's (did I mention desperate already?) However, on my most recent visit to the Taco John's in Charles City, Iowa I realized that they must have changed their recipes due to too many complaints of Montezuma's Revenge. I could not eat anything for three days, as a huge foreign object moved through my GI Tract. I had not ate anything the day before the visit to Taco John's or during the three days of hell! Assisted with an overdose of laxatives, on the third day of pain I finally crapped out a giant taco baby. That's right, the only difference between the taco's I ate and what I crapped out, was chew marks! They must have started mixing Portland cement into their meat and cheese! It will have to be the last surviving restaurant on the planet before I ever eat there again -- I'd rather eat a road-killed-four-day-old bloated coon before I stop there again!!
