Old fashion no drive Thur, this DQ has been at this location since 1947! The staff is nice and it doesn't take long to get anything you want, I usually stay clear of places like this but it's the first time in a long time and last night was the prefect night to grab a small vanilla and camel cup! And A peanut buster par fay for Nessa. MMmmMmm They don't have much seating outside but there are two benches I believe.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt

2300 Edgewood Road SW
Cedar Rapids, 52404
Reviews:
One of the best fro yo places I have been to. The decor is nice, standard Orange leaf style. This location is always exceptionally clean. There are a wide variety of flavors to chose from, many toppings that are always filled properly and fruit (my favorite topping) that is fresh and usually seasonally ripe. The employees are friendly and quickly address any issues that may arise. The one down side is that this location does not allow you to get your own samples. I'll admit, I like to try a variety of flavors before I settle on one and feel a little stifled that I have to have someone administer samples to me. But their staff is gracious and will give me as many dollops as I ask for without a fuss or attitude. My go to treats are 1) Original FroYo with strawberries, pineapple and kiwi or 2)Coconut FroYo with toasted coconut, pecans, white chocolate chips and a few waffle cone pieces.
This is a great place to find out what FroYo you want to try. The staff will let you try as many as you like before you choose your tub size, add as much as you like, add your toppings, and then charge you by tare weight. Many flavors; I enjoy the orange fat free with the sugar and fat free vanilla, the fat free chocolate, peanut butter jar, and fat free hazelnut are also good. Good rewards program that gives you 1 point per dollar and once you have 10 points (ie you spent $10), then you get a dollar off. The location is next to the coffeesmith's on the corner. A must try if you haven't had frozen yogurt before.
Short Version: Probably one of the best Orange Leaf locations I've been to. Employees are efficient, the store is clean, the froyo tastes amazing, and the location is pretty and modern. I'd love to see a bit of outdoor seating (other Orange Leafs occasionally have Adirondack chairs?), but otherwise, I have no complaints. Long Version: I love frozen yogurt. Like, a lot. Orange Leaf isn't usually my favorite chain, but they have this "coffee" flavor froyo that is literally to die for. Other chains have "Espresso" or "Cappuccino", but you can't beat the coffee one here. Like, at all. Nice, neat new location. Looks like it actually is recently built. Single-person men and women's bathroom at the back of the store. Part of a strip mall with other locations nearby such as Coffeesmiths. No exterior seating. Interior seating includes the Orange Leaf tables and chairs (they're like regular tables and chairs only really close to the ground?) as well as long, 3-4 person couches. Decent amount of seating that should handle a lot of people. Parking lot is kinda a mess, but that's part of the fun of being in Cedar Rapids. They're also doing construction on part of the parking lot, so that doesn't help. It's not insanely hard to get into, but it could be easier. Lots of spaces, though, so unless it's super busy, you shouldn't have any issue parking. I've been to a lot of places, and this Orange Leaf is surprisingly great. The employees were very efficient, and they didn't hover. Both times when I came in, they came out from behind the counter, offered me sample cups, and after I declined, went back about their business until I was ready to pay. They didn't stand at the register and make me feel hurried or rushed to finish what I was doing (I hate that). The yogurt itself was great. Very smooth and very creamy. The machines are working really well and dispensing very well, and it shows in the taste. The frozen yogurt machines worked properly and easily, and the toppings bar was clean and well-stocked. Very little inter-mingling of the different types of toppings, and nothing I put on my froyo was stale or stiff feeling. Even the brownie bites I put on were soft and chewy - it was impressive. Definitely a great Orange Leaf location. One of the better Orange Leafs I've ever gone to, actually.

VERY tasty! Clam chowder, salad, sausage over polenta. The chowder had a wonderful garlic cream base with clams and gnocchi. The salad simple. The sausage and polenta was a bowl of good! I see about bringing a group!
I frequented RG Books a lot in undergrad and recently went back for a visit. I would have given it five stars at that time, but my most recent visit showed that the bar menu (especially the martinis, which it was known for) has contracted. I asked for a drink that they didn't have all the ingredients for but the bartender made some substitutions with fresh citrus and simple syrup and it turned out great! The atmosphere is what really makes this place: speakeasy-meets-library. We had fun flipping through some of the random books: some ancient volume written in Chinese, an old tome of short stories, and a medical textbook on renal disease from the 1970s. Fun! This is one of the most unique bars in the CR area due to its atmosphere. It's romantic and quiet, great for dates or for small (4-6 people) groups of friends.
LOVE this place. The bartender was great, the drinks were tasty, and the food was amazing. All at a very reasonable price. I will go here every chance I get.

Gyro Hut

Oh thank you Yelp, for without you, I would never had gotten near this hole in the parking lot place, let alone force my hubby to circle the busy block repeatedly until we could safely park. So worth it. Yummy stuffed gyros with all the appropriate fixings. And I LOVE their fries. I don't know why. I need to go back very soon. Am already having gyro withdrawals.
Great little mom and pop shop. Heaping mound of meat on every gyro, and loaded with all the goods. The jalapeños add a great touch to this sand which. The pita itself was soft and tasted fresh. Definitely recommend to anyone that loves a good ole fashioned gyro!
City style gyro joint on the corner. I love gyros and this did not disappoint. Yummy heaps of meat, lettuce shreds, onion, tomato and jalapeño slathered with "gyro sauce," stuff inside a quality pita. This is not a bistro, boutique gyro with chunky homemade tzatziki and feta, but what I would consider pop-in, grab a gyro on your way to the subway style: quick, hot and delicious. I hope the family can expand their operations and stick a table and some chairs inside. There is no place to sit, so everything is to-go, but that's ok. Their website pricing, YELP pictures of menu and what's presented on their board are all different, so add a $1 or $2 to what is online. They have a ton of a other menu options from catfish, wings, fried okra and polish sausage. Overall this is a great place to grab and go!

Cobble Hill Restaurant

Reviews:
Other reviews fault Cobble Hill on "small portions", however our party of 3 (including our 16 year old son) left feeling full without the bloat feeling that accompanies other places. Everyone was nice, atmosphere was great, and food amazing. Make a reservation in advance, not needed we just walked in but it's good to give them a heads up in case. Tel your server it's your first time, they'll take care of you.
Excellent food, great atmosphere and service. By far the best restaurant in Eastern Iowa. Highly recommend!
Great place in Cedar Rapids. Was in town for a family event and wanted some place for 8 of us to have dinner that was not a chain. This place was recommended to me by a former classmate as the place to be. She was not wrong. First off they were able to accommodate us with a few hours' notice. Second, they have an awesome bar with great craft cocktails. They even have the proper ice for your bourbons and whiskeys. While this place does not have a published kids menu they do accommodate children and made my son a bowl of buttered gnocchi. When he was not thrilled with it, the waitress took it back and they added some cheese, then he ate it right up. It was a great experience. A menu that was fresh and focused on food quality, not quantity. A wait staff that knew their roles and help guide us not only thru the menu, but with our experience as a whole. A bar staff that knows how to make craft cocktails (not just how to open a bottle of beer) and a kitchen staff that cares what they put out and are willing to go the extra steps to ensure that all are happy. When we are back in CR we will be going back.

Been going here since I was little, never been disappointed. Eggs rolls are the best in town, hot braised chicken is my recommendation. Friendly staff, quality food, affordable prices.
Good little Chinese restaurant off of Edgewood Road. Good place. Random observation #1: Everybody that I've seen working at this Chinese restaurant is Mexican. Random observation #2: These Mexicans can cook the heck out of some Chinese food.
Best Chinese resturant I've ever had! I definitely recommend it to anyone they prepare very fast and have amazing food, they also give a generous portion

Best in town! We started looking when our usual spot went downhill. Great bread, great sauce, homemade toppings. And they actually care about presentation! Super cleaning dining room and kitchen, friendly staff. Open Mondays, too!
Love the Detroit crust. The Caesar salad not too special though. I could make a better one at home but the dressing was tasty. They have two outdoor tables. Being a downtown location they are busiest at lunch. They do several lunch specials and are pretty fast with them. Locally owned. Has quickly become a downtown favorite.
Nice place, clean and uncluttered. The small kitchen area behind the counter tells the tale of what goes on here. A medium chicago style is more than enough for several other meals for one person, could feed 3 with ease. The Chicago style has the sauce on top with deeper crusts. They also have New York and Detroit style as well. Beer and stuff to wash it down, I didnt dine in so can't comment on selection or pricing. The pie itself wasn't the cheapest but came heavy and hot (ohhhh baby) and the wait was worth it. 50 minutes from order to ready, so be prepared to have some family time or call ahead. Would be a great spot for a pre-show meal.
