Came in here tonight with the family. Ordered a Philly Steak and a kids rice bowl. The meat, bread and ingredients were pretty good. Next time I will definitely ask for my cheese to be cooked in with the meat-- have it more authentic Philly style. Prices were reasonable for the massive sandwich. Fries were thicker cut and seasoned well. Wednesday's they have 99 cent kids meals! Best meat sandwiches in town, will definitely be a regular here!

This is a rather unique place in Cedar Falls, IA. The Maid-Rite chain has many locations, but this one is a true diner setup with lots of small town charm. The standard Maid Rite is a loose meat sandwich with fixings. I had the Cheese Rite which adds American cheese. It does not need cheese which gets lost in the mix. The meat is seasoned, tasty, and overflowing, but not overly salty or spicy. The fries were nothing special. I would recommend some other side instead. Well worth a stop!
This place is amazing! They simply don't make them like this anymore. A throwback to the lunch counter of years past. I for one hope it never changes . Daily specials, homemade pies and cookies. Maid Rites are the best I've had. The breakfast is cooked to order on a four burner stove. If you go for lunch on a busy day you just might see some sparks flying. They have all worked with one and other for a long time. It's kind of like having lunch in your great aunts kitchen around the holidays. A true classic.
I was so disappointed that they do not take reservations or supply Valet parking... Just kidding. Love Maid Rite. Not only is all their food great, but only bar stools along a counter makes it seem like I am in a time machine. Love it. Thank you.

This is my favorite ice cream place in town. If you are going late at night, it might be worth it to go inside as the drive thru is usually 10 cars long at least. They have several different flavors of soft serve ice cream, snowstorms which are like blizzards at DQ, and shaved ice, among other things. They also have 1919 draft rootbeer, which tastes like Heaven itself. I always get a small krunch come which is a cone with sprinkles and nuts on it. I definitely recommend!
The best ice cream in town. Parking sucks and this place is allllways busy but they move people through decently fast. Seriously our favorite ice cream, and we love that we can get soft serve in quarts to keep at home!
Favorite place in town to stop by and grab ice cream. Prices aren't horrendous for a place of its caliber, but they have definitely creeped up the past few years! The inside and drive-thru lines can definitely get backed up at times, but usually the wait isn't too bad. I tend to get the snowstorms, which are basically blizzards. Their shakes and soft serve are also always great options. Another great option during the peak heat of summer is their shaved ice. Come try 4 Queens if you like ice cream and other frozen treats! And if you don't, go see a doctor because there is most likely something wrong with you. -apologies in advance to lactose intolerants out there!

A couple of years ago I wrote a review for Mohair Pear; "An anthropological study on the natural habitat of the wily and illusive Hipster." Since then, I have continued my research. And, more than a year ago, the local tribe of Hipsters began to migrate to a fresh new place. The rest of us had not heard of it yet; it was called Sidecar Coffee, and it had moved in right next to their home at Mohair Pear. Wanting to observe from afar, without interfering with their cultural practices in their natural environment, I set myself up on the roof of Social House across the street with my handy field notebook and a pair of mainstream binoculars that I feared made me stand out. I saw mostly what I expected; a large number of Hipsters were Hipstering about the coffee shop with their properly Italian portioned cups of their favored beverages with artfully done drawings in the foam. But, there is only so much I could learn from a distance. It was time to . . . walk among them. Having studied traditional Hipster ceremonial attire at Mohair Pear, I dawned my most appropriate outfit for the occasion. Squeezing myself into an obnoxiously tight pair of jeans that raised my voice an octave, I grabbed a stocking cap and plaid shirt. Accessorizing with a long scarf and pair of thick-framed plastic glasses, I put on a fake bushy lumberjack's beard. I was ready to go in. Taking a deep breath, and getting into character, I stepped inside. I was walking among them. I made up a fake band, "The Ironic Llamas" that I began talking to the Hipsters about. Seeing as they never heard of it, and couldn't find it through google on their iPhones and MacBooks, they knew it was super underground and they accepted me right away as one of them. I sat and sipped some freshly ground coffee that they redundantly assured me was freshly ground locally in town. It wasn't especially good, but I suppose that's just ironic. I observed my surroundings. I admit to having been somewhat confused by what I saw. Of course the Hipsters seemed happy, each of them working on a different screenplay on their Macs. But the drab, colorless environment seemed almost too . . . mainstream for them. At least the awful paintings on the wall, which were little more than splashes of random paint on canvas, were just terrible enough to be appeal to the Hipster sense of irony. In my travels to Sidecar Coffee, I have noticed a continued trend of normal people patronizing the establishment. This, coupled with over 5,000 likes on Facebook, has taken Sidecar into the realm of Mainstream. Hipsters will soon be flocking away, I suspect, and moving on to more underground pastures. Perhaps they will return to their roots at the more colorful Cup of Joe, where the location and vintage tables will appeal to their ironic side, or better, they may still be looking for the underground and illusive Bad Llama Coffee, a gem that I told them about, that they just can't seem to find.
Now that they have been around a while, I needed to upgrade my rating. Quality high-end espresso beverages/ period! They also do many different coffee based options. Wonderful bakery options as well.
wanted to try somewhere near the trailsni just spent my morning on, and decided to finally try. very friendly staff. enough people here and I don't feel crowded a bit. ordered an iced chair and the number 2, egg white breakfast sandwich. this has to be the first time I didn't really care for a house made chai..... but regardless I feel great after my experience and would come again to try more drinks.

My wife and I are always looking for something different and this was a home run. We discovered them by trying their food truck at the CF farmers market and decided to give the restaurant a shot. First of all, the service was fantastic and the owner even took time to come and personally thank us for stopping in. The burgers are different than any burger that I have had, but they are delicious.
Great take on some traditional sandwiches, and not just US cuisine. They also offer up some terrific authentic and rare drinks and deserts, are super friendly, and helpful. should be on your short list of a place to try something new.
This eating establishment is a phenomenal addition to the Hill and Cedar Falls scene. They have the best burgers in town due to their creativity, commitment to buying local quality ingredients/products and trying new things. The beverage selection tops off the culinary experience. The owner is hugely supportive of the community and goes above and beyond to ensure his guests leave happy. You won't be disappointed. Place your order at the front and staff will bring the food to you with a smile. This establishment has all the "ingredients" to become a local institution.

This is my favorite burrito place in the Cedar Valley -- it's hands down better than its corporate peer across town... The restaurant attempts to source as many ingredients locally, and it shows. Fresh veggies, cheese, and meats. All in a burrito that is large enough for two meals, unless you're regularly in the habit of eating enough for a small village. The staff varies here - sometimes they're amusingly gruff, other times very helpful. I guess I eat here enough and enjoy it enough to look past it, but they do seem to get some interesting characters. Part of the charm, I guess. It's safe for me to say that if/when I move from here, this will be THE place I will miss. Quality food, priced right.
For the price of what your paying, your getting a lot of fresh ingredients and they are awesone. They experiment with new salsas to spice it up. The burritos are huge. All the ingredients are in front of you so your seeing what goes inside of your burritos. My husband is Mexican and he enjoys the burritos. (For the previous negative nancy.) We have tried a lot of "authentic" Mexican food restaurants around the Midwest and so far this is one of the closest tastes to Mexican food we have gotten.
My first thought when walking into Pablo's Mexica Grill was that I was walking into a sit down Mexican restaurant, instead it was similar to Ponchero's minus the queso. Which was surprising but good anyway. The service at this place was good. I asked the man behind the counter to suggest a salsa for my burrito and it was so good. I ordered a steak burrito with rice, verde salsa, pico de gio and corn salsa and guacamole. The steak was dry, under seasoned, and also resembled ground beef more than actual steak. Everything else in the burrito tasted good, but it was brought down by the beef. My friend ordered a chicken burrito with rice, pico de gio and corn salsa. Like the beef the chicken was also dry and under seasoned. One of the things Pablo's Mexican grill offers free chips with every order and the guacamole was on point.

I came back to Iowa for 6 days recently. This bar was around when I lived there too but it's gotten better. I liked the outdoor patio and the wide selection on the juke box. And holy shit, they had Sierra Nevada on tap. I'm far from a beer snob but I've become accustomed to being able to get awesome beer whenever I want and I wasn't in the mood to drink Bud Light, Coors Light, or Miller Lite. Also, they had this whiskey called Templeton that was pretty good. The bartender was also a gem.
This place is the cat's whiskers. Super hole in the wall dive that you would miss if someone didn't take you there.... Drinks are cheap and not so watered down , solid jukebox collection and there's always an eclectic mix of people there who are probably regulars since they all seem to know each other..
This is probably the best bar in Cedar Falls. And the next best bar would be the Blue Room. The barkeeps at The Cypress have always been very friendly to me. If you aren't a college frat kid, this is a spot to hit up.

Quick, delicious, fairly healthy food! I have two friends who work their and they also find it to be a friendly environment. Great friendly employees, quality food, and there are vegetarian options! Great prices as well.
Save money using the coupons they send in the mail! Service qas good even though one of the servers has a resting bitch face. I have it too so it doesn't bother me, but some might be intimidated. Love the pitas, and the toppings are fresh. They're teriyaki sauce isn't too salty which is great.
Always come here when I need to grab something on the run or only have a few minutes to eat. I have never had a bad experience here whatsoever, neither have I not liked any pita I've tried. I have noticed they are very consistent, seeing as I stick to the same few pitas. Also the staff seems to have remained the same for a long time (for the most part), which is always a good sign. They are always helpful and knowledgeable. One of my favorite fast food spots and great healthy alternative to other unhealthy fast food places. Side note- I recommend/usually get the buffalo chicken, but I have had it 60+ times so my opinion is certainly bias

Great food! I've been to Thailand it's the real deal! The staff is always pleasant & quick! I can't say enough great things about this place. Try the delivery it takes a while but it's so worth it! What a great little place in the middle of nowhere!
Their curries are incredible. The other dishes are good, but their curries are so so good. Service is friendly and quick. Good luck getting a seat though, place is tiny! Which is fun :)
I was so glad to see this place last spring when it opened in the former cupcake shop just off Main St. Cedar Falls has very few ethnic restaurants so I definitely want to support those that are here when I'm visiting my hometown. We had a lovely meal in April and were the only customers. This time, the tiny place was packed at 12:30 and several people were waiting for tables and for takeout. Our food this time wasn't as good, we were rather disappointed in the shrimp pad Thai as we asked for spicy and instead it was quite sweet--too sweet--and didn't have any of the fresh beam sprouts or ground nuts one typically gets on pad Thai. Our companion had a salad that looked delectable, however. I had the Thai iced tea, which was typical (it's supposed to be very sweet). We will be back.
