Kramer's Cantina has great homemade food at a great price! They have everything from Jumbo tenderloins to a great All you can eat fish fry Friday and saturday nights!
I am shocked that this place only has one review at this point. Everyone I have talked to has had good things to say so I did not hesitate in heading there with a group of 8 friends (we called ahead for a table) on a Friday night. I agreed to Kramer's over a fast food place nearby because I saw they had a salad bar that night and I was looking for something on the healthier side. Let me just say, the place was packed when we arrived. We all had to park in other lots because the lot at the restaurant was full. There was only one empty table when we got there at 5:55PM (our table was being cleaned) but the bar seats were empty. It's nothing fancy but the decor is cute and I appreciated how clean it was for the busy state of things. We were seated almost immediately after our table was clean, and drink orders taken from those of our party who were there. By 6pm our whole party was there, we all had our drink orders in or had our drinks already and menus. At 6:20pm our orders still had not been taken. Had I been dining alone or maybe only with one other person, I would have been greatly annoyed by this point. I let it go because they were so busy and the waitresses (three of them, it looked like, and one bartender) were running the floor. It wasn't as though we got ignored. It was just very busy and they seemed to be doing a fair share of carry-out orders as well. The salad bar was a disappointment, laden with a couple of kinds of fatty oil and mayo-based salads, pickled herring, a couple stray veggies, and a half-empty bowl of shredded iceberg lettuce. It took over 30 minutes for anyone to start seeing their orders appear, even though I had ordered chips and salsa for the table. The chips and salsa came moments before my entree. An order of chicken enchiladas made it to the table, as well as a cheeseburger and fries, and my chips and salsa. The only redeeming thing about my meal was the salsa. I am a huge fan of Kramer's homemade salsa and I never touch any other kind. I was absolutely devastated to scoop some up and bite into a stale chip. They didn't look like they had been made in the restaurant, either. They were stale out-of-the-bag-type tortilla chips. Because I was with a group, I didn't want to make a fuss but I was not happy. I expected more for a $4 chips and salsa appetizer! But I shared them around and we all enjoyed the salsa. A few minutes later the rest of our food arrived: spaghetti, burger and fries, two different chicken salads, and an order of tacos. The chicken enchiladas were stacked up as "Okay. Nothing special." Both the burger and cheeseburger were deemed "Good." The tacos were "Alright. I've made better at home." The spaghetti was "Just spaghetti and sauce. It was okay I guess." The patron with the spaghetti held up her garlic bread when she got it and showed a limp piece of barely-toasted bread with what she said was "nothing on it", to her great disappointment. She said she was really looking forward to a nice crunchy piece of garlic bread and that her bread was "sad" in comparison. The grilled chicken salad was "Filling, but I would have liked something other than shredded iceberg and a couple of tomatoes and cucumbers for the price." The buffalo chicken salad was lackluster, at best. $9 for a very small bed of shredded iceberg, presumably the same lettuce for the tacos, a bit of shredded cheddar cheese (which, in my opinion does not go with buffalo chicken... a mozzarella would have been better, if anything), some diced tomatoes (assuming also for the tacos) and a large whole piece of grilled chicken breast with sauce on top. Actually, I'd have to say that the chicken was drowned in sauce. I tackled the task of trying to cut up my chicken into manageable pieces with a butter knife (no easy feat) and that was when I found the enormous pool of buffalo sauce at the bottom of my bowl. There was no polite way to remove the sauce so I just went along with it, trying to avoid as much of it was I could. The chicken was nicely cooked but had a couple of dry spots. The sauce was decent, although I really didn't need nearly as much as I got. Overall, the food was disappointing. I don't mind paying $9 for a salad but I expected more. Some romaine lettuce would have changed my tune completely. Extra veggies would have been great. Maybe the chicken cut up right before serving? And a little more light-handed with the buffalo sauce. Fresh chips should be a given especially since they're CHARGING for them! Our waitress was quick to bring refills and checked on us twice. Quick, prompt, friendly. Absolutely no complaints there. Some small improvements could move this restaurant into the big leagues in this small-town area. Until then, I won't be returning.
